Coated in a thin layer of cold sweat, Law's previously unconscious body shoots up. His mouth lies open; and as his hands find their way to his now aching head, his legs curl themselves into his chest. He rocks slightly as his fingers harshly grab at his hair and his palms press painfully into his temples. Before long; the throbbing and the shaking stops- somewhat. He lets out a shuddering breath and quickly scans the room; something's odd, something's different, something's not right.

Luffy.

Why isn't Luffy in the room? Normally, he'd wake up to find Luffy attached to his side. Today he was alone, today she was nowhere to be found, he felt lonely. He hated feeling lonely. It reminds him of the day he was forced upon that horrible ship and had to suffer alone before he met Luffy. Luffy had been his savior; even though he was the reason she made it off that horrible ship, she was the reason he was able to be happy again. She saved him from depression and loneliness and everything he hated. So... Has he been left alone again?

He jumps to his feet, not caring for a second as the bed turns into a mess of tangled blankets and pillows thrown in all different directions. Not even bothering to put on a shirt, he rushes out the door and feels the cold air on his bare skin.

The pain in his chest the turning of his stomach does nothing but speed his legs forward even faster. It doesn't take him long to find her; she's lying on the front deck with her eyes closed. The sweat dripping down her forehead and coating her clothing is far too obvious to go unnoticed. Bruises and scrapes litter of body, clothed in nothing but a shorts that stop at her knees and a shirt that leaves her stomach open.

She's been training.

Law inches forward, taking small and stealthy steps to reach her unconscious form. She's safe, so he sighs in relief and drops to his knees. Placing a warm hand on her cold forehead; he silently begins to scan her. With her condition, she shouldn't be training. She should be resting herself rather than overexerting herself; he's told her this repeatedly, but she never listens. It's frustrating. Sometimes Law wonders if she really wants to get better or not; sometimes he thinks it would be best to sedate her until she's better. It would be better for both his health and hers.

He could never do that to her though.

Her eyes open, and Law quickly pulls his hand back to his side. "Oh, hi Law!" Her voice is just as energetic as it always is; and despite the obvious distaste on his face, she remains calm. It bothers him how she's not worrying about her current situation, it bothers him so much he doesn't really have time to worry about the blurring of his vision. Law flinches as he watches the smallest trickle of blood drip down from Luffy's mouse like nose. He narrows his eyes.

"Are you trying to kill yourself?!" She blinks dumbly, moving her head to the side slightly and staring at him with an absolutely confused expression. "You're bleeding! Training too... You shouldn't be... training...! You're supposed to be rest..." Law's unable to finish his sentence, as his vision blacks out completely and he hits the ground with a thud he never hears.

Luffy's eyes widen.

It's unintentional that Sabo bumps into Luffy as she tries to heave her friend's body across the deck. It doesn't look like an easy task for Luffy, and surly Law would be feeling it when he woke up if Sabo didn't get her to stop now. He runs a hand through his thick blond curls and moves to place a hand on her shoulder; she jolts, but she never drops Law. "Let me carry him." He says hesitantly, and she looks at him for the briefest of seconds before turning her attention back to Law. She nods.

With practiced ease, Sabo lifts the teenager into his arms and follows after Luffy to the doctor's office. As he follows her; he finds it impossible not to notice how her steps are clumsy, how her head will lean to the side, and how she drags her feet. She's tired. That much is obvious, but he doesn't voice his concern.

His thoughts come to a sudden stop when Luffy just barely touches his side and points to the bed in front of herself. Catching the hint, he places Law down and watches as Luffy carefully tucks him in. She spins on her heals and soon comes back with a slightly damp cloth that's soon placed directly on his forehead.

Sabo's little sister- No.

Sabo's favorite sibling- No.

Sabo's best friend- No

The other person in the room with Sabo.

The other person in the room with Sabo sighs tiredly as she takes her place by Law's side. She stares down at him with an emotion in her eyes that's been absent for far too long; then she looks away, and this time her gaze is sad and directed towards Sabo. "Thank you, for helping me with Law." She speaks in a dull tone, far from the happy one Sabo was so used to.

"It's not a problem." Sabo replies, taking a seat on the other side of the bed. Sabo's not an idiot. He realizes how close these two are and even though it worries him sometimes; he also knows that he doesn't have the right to worry. Besides, it's because of Law that Luffy is happy. "You really like him, don't you?"

"Of course." She replies automatically; barely blinking as she speaks. It's as if she believes her answer to be the most obvious thing in the world. 'It kinda is,' Sabo thinks absentmindedly. "When we first met, he was kind of a loner. I wanted to be his friend, and eventually that's what happened. He's always protected me and laughed with me and been there for me... He's always helping me, so one day I just want to repay him for all of it. He's the best, you know?"

"I'm happy..." Sabo mutters as he hides his face; his lip is trembling and yet no matter how hard he bites it, he's unable to stop the quivering. It's annoying. His eyes are beginning to water and he's afraid that if he blinks, tears will fall. He won't show Luffy. "I'm really happy, Luffy."

"Why?" She cocks her head to the side as she stares at his shaking figure. The look of utter confusion remains on her face as she rubs her chin. "Could it be that there's some new flavor of meat that makes you really happy!?"

"Pfft. Idiot." For the first time in years, Sabo laughs. He throws his head back and laughs, wiping the fallen tears away with his fingers as he continues. When he finally finishes, he faces Luffy with a smile.

For some reason, Luffy is reminded of the young Sabo who would teach her everything and show her how to do things. The Sabo that loved her the most out of anything or anyone else in the world. "I'm glad you were never alone." He says with a sigh. "It was decided that... Ace and I would give up on you, and that I would leave. So it's nice to know that when I do leave, I won't be leaving you alone."

"Is that so?" A vein seems to pop out of Luffy's forehead as she crosses her arms and looks at him with a bone chilling smile. "When was that decided? What day was it? What month? What year? What decade? How many hours, minutes, seconds, and rotations of the earth passed when it happened?"

Sabo's jaw drops.

"If you can't confirm it and answer these questions, then I guess it never happened." A warm smile appears on Luffy's face. "I suppose you're going to have to stay then, huh, Nii-san?"

Sabo doesn't know when he gets out of his seat, or when his arms wrap themselves around his sister. His sister. His sister. His sister. His sister! He buries his face into her chest and holds her as tightly as possible; tears flow down his face as his body racks violently. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry. I'm so, so, sorry" Her hands massage his back gently; so when he's hit over the head, he's slightly startled. At least, he's startled enough to jump slightly as his head retracts backwards.

"Stop apologizing. I don't care for apologies." She states. "All that matters is that you're my brother again, right?"

"R..Right!""

oOo

Law finds himself feeling surprisingly okay with Sabo and Luffy making up. Luffy seems happier now that she's not avoiding him; her smiles get wider and the weight on her back seems to have lightened to a point where she didn't seem to need to be so miserable anymore.

She was standing stronger, and that made Law happy. Over a brief period of time, Law comes to realize that Sabo is actually a good person. He's physically fit, strong, and intelligent. Moreover, he's kind. When he's with Luffy, he's gentle and kind and caring and everything a big brother should be.

Law knows that Sabo truly regretted his actions with Luffy; the bags underneath his eyes, the sad smile, and his pale skin were proof of that. Sabo actually cares about Luffy.

Law doesn't find this all out in a day.

Moreover, he wasn't okay with this in one day.

It's because of this that he finds himself spending half of the week merely stalking the blond haired man, watching his every movement for hours on end in the darkest of shadows. The new bounce in his step when he walked, the strength he had displayed multiple times during sparring matches, and how he would go through even the tiniest precautions when it came to protecting Luffy. These things were all easily noticed by Law. Also, when Luffy sat on the figurehead; Sabo would never take his eyes off of her once. He would always be there to make sure that if she did stumble, he'd be there to catch her.

Law knew that Sabo secretively kept an extra amount of attention on her; yet it still surprised him when he noticed slight things in her behavior or mood that had taken Law anywhere from minutes to hours to notice himself. Whenever Luffy dragged her feet, Sabo would playfully take her into his arms because he knew her legs were tired. Whenever she'd start to blink at a slower pace, Sabo would find someplace for her to sleep because she was nodding off even as she walked.

Whenever her shoulders were raised slightly and her elbows were tucked in; she was cold, and Sabo would take it upon himself to warm her up. Law was a doctor; a surgeon, so these kinds of things were easy for him to point out. So how was Sabo able to point them out so easily? Then, what surprised Law even more was how he'd even notice that there were actions that would only belong to Luffy. There were things that even Law had problems seeing, but Sabo saw them instantly and immediately acted.

How Luffy would clench her shirt with her hands when she was upset, how she'd tilt her head downwards slightly when she was sad, and how she'd hold her hands in front of her when she was lonely. These things took Law years to find out, but Sabo's able to point them out in mere seconds.

Law can't help but wonder what their relationship with one another would be, if they hadn't become siblings. Unlike Law, Sabo always seems to know exactly what to say to either calm or cheer Luffy up. Sabo seems to know more about Luffy's favorite things and the things she's afraid of. Law knows for a fact that if they hadn't been siblings, then surly both he and Sabo would be competing for Luffy. So, Law's happy to know that their relationship is nothing but a brother-sister relationship. Otherwise, he'd be jealous. Wait. Competing for Luffy, jealousy?

Law furiously shakes his head in denial.

Right now, Law is sitting up in his bed with a small meal Sabo had brought him. Luffy's sleeping quietly in the bed not too far away from him, which is probably the safest thing she's done all day. Law finishes the last bite of his small meal and silently places the tray on the table next to him. He turns to face Sabo, who's silently sitting in the chair between the two beds.

It's at this moment that the young man, just a couple years older than Law himself; stands up from his seat and bows his head. He bends down so far that his face soon contorts in slight pain. "Please forgive me for my earlier actions!" His hands remain glued to his side and he continues to look at the ground; "All I can do is apologize. I know it doesn't heal your wounds, but-" He's cut off.

"What would Luffy say in a situation like this...?" Law mumbles out loud, a sly smirk playing on his lips. "I don't care for apologizes. All that matters is that you're both happy again, right?" Sabo lifts his head and with his mouth slightly agape, noticing just how similar this boy's words were compared to his sister's. They seemed natural. Sabo feels his eyes light up at the sight of yet another person his sister has changed for the better; hell, this guy probably doesn't notice either. "As long as you keep Luffy happy, I don't care about anything else."

Sabo smiles.

"Thank you for taking care of Luffy." Sabo says silently as he returns to his seat. "When I found out she was here, I was happy that she still had that smile on her face. I had worried that I had taken it away from her, that it would be my fault that she was unable to smile anymore."

"She talks about you, you know." Law interrupts leisurely, rolling a hand through his hair as he leans against the backboard of the bed. "Nearly every day since I met her. She talked about how happy she had been with you, how Sabo is the smartest person in the world who had cared for her no matter what. She talked about how much she loves you and how she hopes you set out safely on your journey to become a pirate safely. All this time she's been blaming herself for everything that happened between you, so it's your job to remove that burden. Properly become her older brother again."

"I will."

"If you hurt her again, I'll surgically remove your backbone and shove it up your ass" Law mutters as he easily takes the glinting scalpel from his pocket and twirls menacingly.

Sabo nods dumbly.

It was a mere accident that they meet again. It's a mere accident that a merciless blaze of fire was directed towards her; yet she stands there, and doesn't even bother moving. His eyes widen as he watches the fire overtake her; the one person he had been trying to avoid for days on end, and yet there she was.

In a sea of fire. Before long, the fire disappears and Portgas D. Ace finds himself running towards the young girl. Though it was an accident, he couldn't help but blame himself. He grabs her shoulders and carefully scans over her body; all while ignoring the tings of pain and worry running through his chest.

Being this close to her made him want to reach out and hug her.

He couldn't.

He bites his lip and releases her, removing his hands from her thin shoulders with gentleness that seemed foreign to him. "Luffy?" He asks, the trembling in his voice goes unnoticed to both himself and the girl in front of him. "Are you okay?" The girl sends him a half smile; so he can't really tell if she's really okay or not. There are no injuries, not even a slight singe on her body.

"Of course." She replies with a smooth tone; though as she unconsciously takes a step backwards, he can't help but notice. She grabs her cheek and stretches it slightly, "C-Cause I'm rubber." Her hand releases and her skin that seemed to stretch far less than Ace remembered, returned to her with a soundless snap. Ace sighs in relief and dismisses her, watching as she continues heading towards what seemed to be the doctor's office. However, a small, shiny object seems to come out of her shirt as she moves.

"Hey, you dropped something." Ace speaks up automatically, leaning down and carefully taking the object in his hands. Upon picking it up, he feels weak. It's as if all his strength is being stolen from him and it leaves him in an utterly confused state. He immediately drops the shard and realizes just what it was. "Seastone." His eyes narrow as he stares down at the medium sized shard.

His head rises and he shifts to search for the girl who had disappeared around the corner. He frowns and looks down at the shard once again and he soon finds himself wondering why she was carrying a sea stone shard around.

What use did she have for sea stone, anyway?

The next day, Law finds himself relaxing. For the first time since Law started working as a doctor on Whitebeard's ship, he's able to focus completely on his work. It's because of Sabo that Law can allow Luffy to safely leave the room and do whatever she wants around the ship. He doesn't have to worry about anything happening to her or being the reason Luffy feels lonely. So as he finishes cleaning up the room to prepare for tomorrow; he feels an overwhelming amount of relief.

Today, Sabo had taken Luffy out to explore the town. It wasn't much, but it was far better than being stuck in the same place all of the time. Luffy loved to explore, and this was the safest way for her to do so. He honestly can't wait for her to come back, it's only been a couple of hours but he misses he constant babble- even if it made next to no sense whatsoever.

Deciding it would be better to get a bath before Luffy comes back, he opens the door to his office and comes face to face with the two people he had just been thinking about. His jaw nearly drops as he catches sight of Luffy.

"This isn't what I meant." Law deadpans as he stares at Luffy, who happens to be standing next to Sabo. To Law's horror; Luffy looks like a girl. A young woman. She's wearing a blue dress that's sleeveless and swirls into a light blue color at the ends. She's wearing a pair of white sandals and her hair is properly combed, tied into a side ponytail that's short but cute. Her long eyelashes, peach shaped face, and brown eyes have never been so visible before.

The nape of her neck.

Her shoulders.

Her collarbone.

Her long legs.

He can see it all.

For some reason his face goes red and his heartbeat accelerates. Holding an armful of shopping bags; a cruel smirk plays on Sabo's lips. "What do you think, Law?" Luffy's attention turns to him and she quickly latches onto him, looking up at him with a face that only worsens his condition and makes the blood rush to his head.

"Does Law like it? Sabo said Law'd like it."

Law mumbles something underneath his breath; but it dies underneath his breath and no one hears it. It's because of this that Luffy soon sends him a confused gaze as she continues to await his reply; underneath her large brown eyes that seem to pierce his very soul, he doesn't really have the option of backing out and leaving the area. Rather; his only option is to force out the words he doesn't want to say. At least, he doesn't want to say them in front of Sabo.

He finds himself doing so anyway

"You look... You look cute!" He forces out. Seconds later, his face turns completely red and steam seems to emit from his ears.

"Sabo! Law became a cooked tomato!"

Damn you to hell, Sabo.
