"Set..."

Standing behind the golden summon circle in my basement makes my heart beat faster, not knowing what to expect coming out of it. I place my hand in front of me and the Command Seals on my right hand light up, causing slight pain in it. I take a deep breath, feeling the mana flowing threw my body to summon my Servant.

"Let thy body rest under my dominion, let thy fate rest in thy blade..."

The circle starts to light up as I chant the commands. The same happens all around Fuyuki as each Master would summon their Servants at this time of night, when their mana flow is at their strongest. Some have the stability to perfectly summon the Heroic Spirit and are thinking how they will win the Holy Grail.

"If thou submitteth to the call of the Holy Grail, and if thou wilt obey this mind, this reason, then thou shalt respond..."

A cool wind blows from the circle, blowing my long hair back with my bangs out of the way, revealing my face. Shivers are sent throughout my body from the cold air, though I am wearing a short black skirt and a white shirt with long yet thin sleeves.

My hand hurts even more as the ritual is being performed. This is really because I am being depleted of mana and my frailty makes it worse.

"I make my oath here. I am that person who is to become the virtue of all Heaven. I am that person who is covered with the evil of all Hades..."

Golden rays beam up from the summon circle and my mana is almost draining itself from my body. I hold my right hand with my left and manage to stay on my feet.

"Yet, thou serves with thine eyes clouded in chaos. Thou, bound in the cage of madness. I am the who commands those chains..."

Breathing heavily in an effort to summon my Heroic Spirit, my body feels like trembling but I restrain myself and tighten my grip on my hand.

"Thou seven heavens, clad in a trinity of words, come past they restraining rings, and be thou the hands that protect the balance! Guardians of Heavenly Scales!"

I finish reciting the words, open my red eyes and smile at my success of this summoning. Yet, immediately, a little explosion of wind and golden sparks emit from the circle, which send me flying into the wall behind me and am found sitting against it, catching my breath.

"...!"

It's too hard to even see if I really summoned a Servant, I even try to get up but can't even get an inch off of the ground.

My bangs may be covering my face a little, but the golden light behind them is still visible. I can't even look up, but I hear the sound of armour touching the ground. The room is suddenly filled with a mighty intent that I can't describe. Except for my fear of whoever is in front of me.

Heavy footsteps approach me, along with the sound of the armour. I gulp and try to maintain my breathing and find strength to lift my head.

I then hear this person— well, Servant— kneel right in front of me. With my heart beating at a fast pace, I think to myself, Am I going to die right here? Right now before my war has even started? Come on, Naomi. Stay strong.

But my consternation is ended when I feel a cold metal under my chin. My head is lifted up and my bangs are covering a bit of my left eye. I find him. The one in my visions that was with me during horrible moments of battle or death even.

Indeed very attractive with his spiked up blonde hair and his fearsome, yet wonderful crimson eyes. He was lifting my head with his finger. My heart skipped one, if not two beats at this. He looks at my Command Seals incised in my right hand laying on the ground.

"So you are my Master, woman?" he asks in a kingly voice that makes my eyes widen. He puts on a smirk at my reaction.

"..."

I nod. That's all I can really do out of my surprise. He just gives a smile and pushes my bangs behind my ears, since I can keep my head up.

"I am quite glad to have one with your kind of features, woman. And yet you do not speak?"

"... O-Of course I can speak...!" I almost yell at him.

Once my hair is put behind my ears, showing my pale and blushing face, he puts his hand on my left cheek and continues smiling.

"Hmph! I wonder if you could provide the entertainment necessary for me." he says.

I push his hand away and get up, since I had the strength.

"I am your Master! Not one of your little puppets!" I yell at him while looking down as he still kneels.

He quickly gets up and looks at the summon circle behind him.

"It is truly fascinating how gold from my era managed to make its way to this ugly world." he sighs at the end of his remark.

"Anyway, I am Naomi Tohsaka. I am your Master in this Grail War. May I ask what your name is?" I say while showing the back of my right hand with the Command Seals imprinted on them. He looks back and gives a small chuckle.

"I am the being of Heaven and Earth. Gilgamesh, King of Heroes!" My jaw drops and my eyes widen. I had never thought I would have this Heroic Spirit. I suppose the summon circle itself is a Holy Relic that was gold belonging to him. "I enter this war under the Archer class. Our contract is now complete, woman."

"Right then. Just so you know, I am a healing mage and I am capable of many types of healing so do not worry about getting hurt. I also have visionary magic in me, meaning I can predict when one of us will be in danger. Except I can't control it so visions may come to my mind at any point." I clarify these matters.

"Woman, you may just surprise me. You already start to amaze me. Very well, we are now in this war together." He says, putting one hand on his waist.

"Yes. And I would prefer if you at least called me by my first name instead of 'woman' if we are fighting in this war." I say, with my arms crossed over my chest, since it was aggravating me when he began calling me that.

"Woman, you are in the presence of a king. You should know better than to tell me what to do." He turned back to me and his smile vanished but instead a smirk. This flusters me deeply, he should at the very least have respect for the one who brought him here. I let out a deep sigh of frustration.

"Does it annoy you that much that you are not being referred to with your first name? I suppose it won't hurt... Naomi. Yes, that suits you much more." he says grinning, walking away and going into spirit form.

"Thank you, Archer." I calm myself down and lower my arms.

"I am quite fortunate to have a Master as prepossessing as you are, Naomi..." He finishes and disappears into the thin air. I am left alone blushing at his remark. Or was it a compliment?

He really confuses me. I hope the entire war won't be like this.

After leaving the library to tell them I can't work for a couple of weeks, the stars are out and the city is almost like a ghost town. Only one day has passed since I summoned Archer and we haven't even spoken much. It's better than what he said at our encounter.

I wear my black tights with my skirt and a red fall jacket I recently bought, along with a white scarf. Not even knowing if Gilgamesh is near me or not kind of scares me, knowing that I can be attacked if someone knows about me being a Master.

"I wonder if there are any familiars around." I start talking to myself as I walk back to my house.

"Do not fear those little worms, Naomi." a voice says. Right next to me appears Gilgamesh out of his spirit form and not even in his armour. In a black leather jacket, white shirt and black pants, even his hair is down instead of up.

"So you were with me all along, eh?" I ask and grin at him.

"It was only rash of you to leave your house and not even bother telling your Servant. I had also assumed I should explore the area." he answers in an arrogant manner.

"What do you think of today, Archer?" I ask him, realizing we are almost home.

"It's unspeakably ugly. I don't even know how this era derived my gold in that summon circle of yours." He retorts with much egotism in his voice.

"Well I'm sorry if—!" I begin but a sudden feeling in my head comes out of nowhere. I close my eyes. A vision.

Assassin is approaching our house by the time we are there. He easily breaks down the window and holds a dagger in his right arm. The moment he sees me, the dagger is thrown at my heart. I tumble to the ground and I didn't have time to call for Gilgamesh. Assassin defeated me...

The vision flashed through my mind with the horrible scene of me bleeding out until I die.

"Oi, Naomi!" I hear Gilgamesh calling out for me.

I open my eyes and find myself on the ground in his arms. He looks over my head with the street light being covered by his purely golden hair. Getting up, I know I have to tell him about Assassin or else we are both dead.

Assassin's Master is Kirei Kotomine, Tokiomi's apprentice. He knows about my visionary magic so perhaps this will be a plan. No wonder they had told me about his being Assassin's Master. Gilgamesh will be waiting but are there even any familiars watching me? It's a possibility.

"Assassin is going near the house. He is coming to kill me. Archer, we must be prepared for his little visit." I say to him as he gets up from the ground.

"So, you really are capable of visions? You must be stronger when they come." he advises me.

"Yes, I will be knowing that is what it feels like." I say with a smile and start running home with Gilgamesh fading into spirit form.

I know that he will be using his Noble Phantasm right away, so I have to sustain the mana inside me.

Waiting for Assassin to show up is terrifying if this goes wrong. No, believe in your Servant. He will get you out of this. You gotta see how he fights so don't chicken out. I think to myself as I look out the backyard window.

The trees move in the forest and the birds are leaving their nests to the sky. He has come. Gulping down my throat, I have confidence in Gilgamesh. It's just that my magic fields aren't powerful, they are complete child's play to Assassin. Not even. It is like motioning your hand to get a bug off of you, it involves no effort.

I see him. He jumps out of a tree and easily deactivates my barriers and I don't even know how. Through the window and the dark of the night, he sees me and is about to jump into the house. That is easily interrupted by a spear impaling his shoulder.

"Little worm who walks on the ground, who do you think you are coming to this place?" a voice full of might says. My window is slightly open to hear this and I know that it is Gilgamesh on the rooftop.

Immediately, he sends more weapons assailing Assassin full of explosions and his blood splattered all over the backyard. The sight of his bloody corpse on the ground almost makes me throw up. But it is blocked by my amazement of Gilgamesh's power, even if it is his Noble Phantasm, the Gate of Babylon. An anti-personal Noble Phantasm that seems like many and yet it can be used in many ways.

"A little worm such as yourself should continue staring at the ground... as it dies." That last remark of Archer made me shiver as to how cold he could be.

How many people saw this? Were there any familiars at all? I have so many questions for this but first I should tell Gilgamesh that he was, well, amazing. His fighting style is just awesome, even a twenty-two year old such as myself would think this.

"Are you astonished by my fighting, Naomi?" Behind me appears Gilgamesh leaning on the wall with his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes closed.

"That was beyond what I had expected, Archer. I must say, your proficiency in battle could make us win this." I smile and sit on my office chair with my legs crossed on the desk and my hands behind my back and my eyes closed. He simply chuckles.

"There is much more than just the gate. I must first determine if any of our foes are worthy of even fighting me." he says sounding superior. I open one eye to see him showing a small grin.

"Even if you are the King of Heroes, you shouldn't let that ego get in your way." I couldn't help but laugh at my own statement.

"The way you speak to me so willingly only makes you all the more amusing." he smiles and looks at me.

"...!" My eyes shoot open and my eyebrows furrowed, which makes him laugh. I get up and stand in front of him with my hands at my waist. "Listen up, Archer. You better not get the wrong idea here. I am your Master and you are my Servant. Nothing more and nothing less!"

"Believe what you will. Just know who you stand in front of." he finishes the conversation with him laughing. I sigh and calm myself.

"I'm going to get the guest room ready for you, it's getting too late." I change the subject all together.

"Hold it, Naomi. Servants don't need to sleep." he says in a serious tone.

"Well if you do need to sleep for whatever reason, it will be rea—"

"If I will sleep, it should be in the same room as you..." he interrupts me. I clench my teeth and pacify myself with a deep breath.

"I will not allow you to sleep with me, Gilgamesh."

"This is only for you protection. If I am in another room and you get attacked, I might not be able to sense you in time. Even if your magic is powerful, it might be too late." he says in a very serious tone.

"Fine. It's only for what, two, three weeks? Anyway, I'm tired so good night." As I am about to leave my office, I take one more look outside to notice Assassin is no longer there.

"Perhaps I will join you for my pleasure..." Archer says while chuckling.

"...!" I turn my head and find him disappearing in the golden dust. I clench my fists and start heading to my room.

~~~~Gilgamesh~~~~
I materialize in Naomi's room to find her covered under the blankets and soundly sleeping. The moment I had seen her, she was beautiful with her luscious hair and gorgeous irises. Her skin itself was soft when I held her when she collapsed. A refined body indeed, and yet she almost doesn't appear to be human. Even in her sleep, she is appealing to the eye.
Teasing her is mirthful and the way she speaks to me just makes her even more enjoyable to be around. And yet, there is so much about her I don't have knowledge of. I shall find out let it be by her or on my own.
She has the confidence and persistence of an animal and yet a power so weak. All of this makes her more valuable so that no mongrels can lay a finger on her. I shall keep her safe and even provide entertainment if the time comes.
