A/N: Omg. I updated! I'm incredibly sorry for how long it took. Around October, I didn't feel like writing much so most of my fics started dying. I then updated my League of Legends fic and gradually wrote a bit more for that, hoping I could finish it and concentrate on this fic, but sadly that one's going to be longer than I had anticipated. It took a while to write this since I'd forgotten how to write Fairy Tail fics, which made me a bit upset. Anyways, I have the outline done for 3 more chapters after this one and those should hopefully show their faces soon enough. I promise you it will not take 6 months for the next chapter to come out. I will do my best to have it out by next week. If I don't, you are free to harass me in PMs or leave those reviews going "Please update! :(" as some of you previously did as quite frankly, having received a few of those back to back gave me a wake up call that I should stop letting fics die, specially since people really enjoyed "What is Love?"
Anyways! Chapter 6. Enjoy!
"How long are you going to keep sulking?" Kyouka's voice brought the woman in her arms out of her thoughts.
"Why did you have to show me that?" Erza mumbled, thinking back to the scene she had witnessed from atop the hill.
"Would you have believed me otherwise? That your lover, the girl you'd been waiting for for seven years had replaced you? Moved on with another woman who looked very very similar to you?"
Erza looked away. Was that really how it was? Had Lucy replaced her with whoever that woman was? She'd repeatedly claimed she was Erza Knightwalker, but how true was that? Without noticing it herself, she shifted her head to rest in Kyouka's chest, her arms wrapping tighter into the woman's neck. Kyouka kissed the top of her head, whispering ,"We're almost there." Where 'there' was, Erza had no idea. All she knew was that Kyouka didn't feel like heading back to Tartarus and so had decided on a detour to spend some time with her.
Once at their destination, a relatively well kept cabin in the woods hidden by tall trees, Kyouka kicked the door open and walked in, closing it with another kick behind her. "Do you want to clean yourself?" Kyouka asked Erza. She'd been running in the rain and dirt after all. No answer was given. Though Kyouka understood that the other woman's mind must have been working overtime with her newly obtained memories, she was still offended. Erza Knightwalker still belonged to her. She was her slave and as such had no room to ignore anything her mistress said. Throwing her on the lone bed in the cabin, she got on top of the white haired knight whose shocked yell was silenced by a pair of rough lips on hers. She wanted to fight back. Why would she let Kyouka have her way anymore when she knew the love of her life was alive and well? Why would she let Kyouka touch her in such a way she'd only allowed Lucy to?
Before her mind could drift further away however, a demonic hand firmly rested itself on her chest as her mistress forced her lips to part, intruding with her tongue, claws digging into her skin. There was something about Kyouka's kisses. They were always more needy, demanding than what Erza experienced, or remembered in this case, with Lucy. Lucy's lips were always soft, tender. She had this innocence to her, telling you, showing you that she was nervous. Kyouka didn't have any of that. She knew what she wanted, what she liked, and she intended to take it with absolutely no shame. But Erza wasn't in the mood. Kyouka was a wonderful lover, even though she enjoyed including pain and torment in her sessions. She was always on top, looking down on a submissive Erza. Though Erza tended to lead with Lucy in the past, she'd enjoyed being taken, used, abused. She didn't understand why, and a part of her didn't want to, for fear of what that might imply.
As Kyouka's hand moved from her chest and began going under her clothes, Erza pushed her back a bit, their lips separating. Both women panted for much needed air, Erza wondering if Kyouka intended to suffocate them, since she'd had no intention of stopping. "I got carried away," the demon let out with a sultry grin.
"I'm dirty," Erza said, looking away.
"I did ask if you wanted to get cleaned up, which you ignored," she whispered, moving Erza's head to look at her, clearly annoyed.
"Forgive me," Erza looked away once more, unable to keep contact with those eyes.
Kyouka bent down a bit, laying kisses on Erza's chest where her claws had opened up a few wounds. "Tell me something, Erza," she continued with the kisses. "Why do you think you're in any position to have a say in this matter?" Moving up, she grabbed the younger woman's hair, pulling at it, causing her head to tilt back.
"I don't," Erza whimpered. "I have no say."
"Good. Now, why should I listen to you? It's seems as though you're forgetting your place, all because you have your memories back," she pulled harder. Though she knew all of this wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Sayla, she was really getting tired of Erza's insolence. The girl was forgetting her place. It's true that Kyouka would show her kindness she generally didn't, but that didn't mean that the ex-knight was in any position to act out or demand anything. She had to teach the girl her place, once again it seemed.
"Y-you don't have to listen to me. Please forgive me, I was out of place," the white haired Erza grit her teeth at the pain.
"Tell me, Erza. Even with your memories back, why are you still here? You could have ran away, ignored everything that woman had said and gone to find Lucy. Why didn't you go?"
Erza gulped, steeling herself. She wouldn't cry just because of this level of pain. She'd been through far worse before. "I owe you my life."
Kyouka let go of her hair and flopped herself next to the woman. It was true, Erza did owe Kyouka her life, but that wasn't what the demon had wanted to hear. Even so, she supposed she could only ask for so much from someone who used to be so proud and strong.
Erza turned around a bit, burying her face in Kyouka's chest. There was a strange warmth to this woman. Her scent was incredibly comforting. It was the scent of her saviour, she concluded. Wrapping her arms around Kyouka's neck, she left a gentle kiss on the older woman's lips much to the other's shock.
She wasn't in love with Kyouka. She still loved Lucy. But there was one clear difference between the two women, she deduced. No matter how Kyouka treated her, she would never abandon nor betray her. Both of which Lucy had done.
Looking into the human's eyes, Kyouka saw it. Resentment and anger growing in a pit of darkness. She had been so worried now that Erza had gotten her memories back, but she wondered if her worries were pointless after all. Erza seemed to be slowly going to the path of revenge both against Lucy and the woman the blonde replaced her with.
"Erza," she whispered. "No matter how I treat you, you know that I would never hurt you like Lucy did, right?"
The white haired woman nodded in her chest. Kyouka knew she couldn't expect the darkness in Erza to last long or fester enough that it would turn her into one of Zeref's demon. As the woman in her arms drifted to sleep, mumbling her ex-lover's name, Kyouka plotted.
She'd tried to have Erza kill Lucy, but that failed. Looking at her however, she smirked. She'd find a way to deal with the celestial mage she knew would end up being trouble. Kyouka always found a way.
xoxoxoxo
"Can I read it?" The blonde asked her lover.
"Absolutely not," Erza replied a bit more forceful than usual.
Lucy looked away, feeling an odd coldness from the other woman. She'd felt as though Erza was hiding something from her ever since she was reunited with her. She figured the years had influenced her to be a pessimist or more forceful than how she knew her but there was always something nagging at Lucy. She just couldn't figure out what it was, but she knew she would eventually. Whatever Erza was hiding from her, and why she was being so cold would all come out eventually.
Erza quickly noticed she'd gone out of line, hurting the blonde. That hadn't been her intention, she knew she was being too forceful and acting suspicious. Placing the memoir on the bed, she got up and wrapped her arms around Lucy's waist, lifting her up. The blonde had to steady herself by placing a hand on each of the redhead's shoulders.
"Forgive me. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Lucy, I haven't seen you in seven years. I'm just so happy to be with you again, I don't want the past getting in our way."
Lucy managed to wrap her arms and legs around the knight's body, bringing their bodies to touch each other. Erza turned around, gently placing her on the bed, their lips inches apart. "Lucy, I know I mess up sometimes, but please know that no matter what, I will always love you," she whispered, placing a gentle kiss on her lover's lips.
Lucy smiled, "I know," as she kissed back. "I'm sorry too."
As they spent this quiet time looking at each other, into each other, knowing, feeling what the other person was thinking, all their worries were gone. Erza loved Lucy and Lucy loved Erza. That was all that mattered. That is also why Erza felt guilty. She hated lying to Lucy, hated keeping things from her. The knots forming in her stomach weren't going anywhere and she knew she had to come forward eventually. She just hoped it'd be before the white haired Erza or Kyouka decided to do something stupid. Just as her mind began working overtime, wondering what Kyouka could possibly plot, the door to the room swung open.
"ERZAAA!" Roared the fire dragon slayer.
"What are you guys doing?" Happy walked in without a care in the world, looking at the knight on top of the mage.
Out of instinct, Lucy let go of Erza's body and Erza quickly moved away, a big blush on her cheeks.
"What the hell are you two doing here?! Don't you know how to knock?!" Lucy yelled, incredibly frustrated at people always barging in when the two were together.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," Natsu waved her off. "Erza! You're going to take on a job with me!"
"And why would I do that?"
"Because you're a Fairy Tail mage and we haven't gone out on a job together yet," he announced. "Pack your stuff, I'll wait for you in front of the guild! Just you! No Lucy! See ya!"
He ran away as quickly as he had barged in, dragging Happy along with him.
"What was that all about?" Lucy shook her head, as Erza draped herself over the younger woman, resting her head in the crook of her neck.
"Who knows," she mumbled, causing Lucy to laugh, as the redhead's breath touched her skin, her very ticklish skin.
"Erza," the blonde lifted her chin up. "You should go," she kissed her cheek. "You haven't been around the guild for almost as long as us and a job with Natsu doesn't sound too bad. You two could bond."
"Mmm, or I could stay in bed with you and make up for lost times," the older woman grinned, stealing Lucy's lips in a rough kiss.
"As much as I'd want and enjoy that," she pushed back a bit, a finger on the other woman's lips, "I think you really should spend time with Natsu. It'll do you some good."
Erza rolled her eyes and got off Lucy, "I know, I know. A bit of exercise wouldn't hurt either." She asked Lucy if she could borrow one of her backpacks, which the blonde was a bit all too eager to give out. Once Erza had packed her stuff and grabbed her spear, she gave Lucy one last kiss before making her way out of the apartment.
Lucy's intentions were to actually have Erza out of the room so that she could read through the woman's diary, memoir, or whatever it was. Yeah, she felt horrible for having thought that to begin with, but she knew something was off, and no matter how much she loved Erza or no matter how much she told herself it didn't matter, it did in the end matter, very much so. Erza was hiding something from her, and she'd thought they were done with that part of their lives. But really, who was she to have any expectations? She'd abandoned her lover for seven years! Who knows what kind of pain and agony Erza had gone through during those times. It's true she couldn't have foreseen the events on Tenroujima, but not a day passed where Lucy wasn't filled with regret. She wanted to make her wrongs right, but the only way to do so would be to find out what Erza had gone through in these years.
Of course, the memoir wasn't in the room. Why would it be? Erza lived with it, unable to ever part ways. Sighing, Lucy decided to write a bit. She hadn't done it in quite a while after all. As she took out her drafts, getting ready to write, a familiar voice behind her stopped her.
"I remember having read one of your stories seven years ago," Scarlet let out, making her way to the desk.
"Don't remind me," Lucy buried her face in her drafts. She'd written a romance story about her and Erza, having been unable to confess her feelings to the requip mage. Of course, that had all been in the past but that didn't stop the embarrassment from showing its face every now and again. "How'd you even get in here?"
"Through the door obviously. I really think your lack of training is beginning to show," Erza teased.
"What are you doing here? If you're looking for Knightwalker, she already left."
Erza shook her head, "No, actually I was looking for you," she grabbed one of the blonde's many drafts.
"Hey, give that back!" Lucy tried to snatch it away from her, failing miserably.
"It's about Knightwalker," the redhead let out, glancing through the draft. "Hey, this isn't half bad," she nodded in approval. "Is this about her? It can't be about me, so it's likely about her right?"
"Why does it have to be about anyone?!" Lucy took the draft, putting it under the other papers.
"You know, for the record, I don't love Jellal," Erza sat down on the bed.
"Why are you even telling me this? It's like you're stalling," the blonde glared at her friend. Erza was a to-the-point person. This round-a-bout going in circles thing wasn't her. It was as though she was fighting with herself, trying to decide if she should talk about what she had come for initially.
"Mira's cute though. We used to have our scuffles in the past, but she's really one of a kin-" "Erza! Why are you here?!"
Scarlet took a deep breath and looked straight at Lucy, "We're going to take a job."
"What? Weren't you going to tell me something about Erza?" Lucy was completely and utterly confused. Erza was acting way weirder than usual.
"I will, I will. During the job," the redhead tried smiling it off.
"Erza! I know you know something. Why won't you tell me?!" She roared in annoyance. This was Knightwalker they were talking about! Her lover! She would not accept any type of halfassed explanation, regardless of who the giver was.
Scarlet however changed her mind. She'd made a promise with Knightwalker to keep what she'd learned a secret. No matter how much she cared for Lucy, she wasn't sure if she should divulge in what she'd found out, given the other Erza had trusted her with a relatively big secret.
"Who is that white haired woman? Is she Erza? How are there two Erzas? Answer me, Erza!"
The older mage sighed internally. She'd made a mistake, but there was nothing she could do about it now. She'd distract Lucy with their job, hoping that Knightwalker knew what she was doing. If not, and she hurt Lucy in the process of whatever ploy she was concocting, Scarlet would personally make sure that the ex-soldier pay dearly.
xoxoxoxo
Sitting around a campfire, eating their fish, they'd taken a break from climbing the mountain. It was an adventure to say the least, but Erza had had enough of those. Looking at the night sky, she wondered what Lucy would be doing, assuming she hadn't been sleeping. She didn't mind the time she was spending with Natsu and Happy, but something was bothering her immensely. The way Natsu looked at her was strange. As though he was thinking, calculating, deducing. No, this was Natsu she was talking about. There was no way he was smart enough to know. Due to her underestimation however, his question caught her off guard.
"So, how long have you been using Zeref's magic?" He bit into the fish on the stick, bones and all.
Her eyes widened at the accusation, "What?" was all she was able to get out.
"You smell like Erza," he swallowed the meat, taking another bite, "but something changed recently. Like that very faint whiteness in your hair? Aside from that, you also smell a bit like Porlyusica. Though you smelled like her when I first saw you. No idea what that's about."
Placing her fish back near the fire, she glared at him, "What did Scarlet tell you?"
"Nothing," he shrugged. "You just smell like the Rogue who came from the future. I don't know how you hid it when we first met, but it's clear as day now." He pointed to her fish with a silent question. She indicated with a swat of her hand that he could take it. "Say, Erza. How long have you been here?"
All he received was silence, the woman's face completely void of emotion.
Taking that as his cue to continue, he told her in a very clear voice, "Lucy is one of my closest friends. I basically consider her a sister. I can see that she's ecstatic to have her girlfriend back in her life but I know that said girlfriend is not here," he looked at her, assessing her reaction. When he got nothing, he continued, "Not technically at least."
"I'm glad that you're making her happy right now, but let me make something perfectly clear to you," he got up, lighting the wood in his hand on fire and pointing it right at her. "If you so much as hurt a single hair on her head, I will personally kill you."
Gritting her teeth, she looked away, "I already lost her once before. I have no intention of losing her again."
A/N: That's the end of that chapter! R&R is appreciated, and I'm sorry. I know this probably wasn't worth the 6 month wait :( However, I will say this. The fic will be rated M in about 2-3 chapters and have lemon :) Stay tuned! You guys rock!
