"No, it couldn't have been. Could it?" I whisper to myself as I cook some good traditional food my mother taught me how to make. Nothing special but very filling.
Did he really fight someone when I was asleep? Well, he looks like he is in pain and I should probably heal him if it is serious. I should ask him since he was the one awake and not sleeping like me.
I'm still very frustrated with his actions so I don't set up more food for Gilgamesh. Besides, he is a Servant and doesn't exactly need food. If he wants some, he can make some. As my Servant, he should be the one making me food.
While I'm eating my lunch, I think about when I woke up. It is pretty dumb of me to assume someone was here last night other than us two. I'm not the heaviest sleeper so it should have woken me up. Maybe he just had wine, knowing him. God damn it I'm stupid for assuming the worst right off the bat.
Right now, it doesn't concern me too much whether he was drinking a lot or not. My true concern is how I'm supposed to trust his arrogant personality. He did save my life from Caster, and I know how he despised retreating both battles yesterday, but what happened after was completely uncalled for.
Honestly, I just have to get past this and continue in this war. I have received a ton of information dealing with the Masters and Servants yesterday. I learned about Saber's Master, Rider and his little Master, the odd pair of Caster and his Master, and just the fact that my uncle is Berserker's Master. Another stressful subject I must deal with.
Aside from these things, Saber's Master was a homunculus who resembled my looks very much. I know she is the Einzbern but even from afar, we look alike. It's not because we are both homunculi, but our facial features are almost the same. That just makes my stomach filled with butterflies as I over-think this situation.
My plate is now empty so I get up and gently put it in the sink. Washing my hands, a thought came to my mind. I still haven't changed into different clothes. When my hands are dry, I run up the stairs to my bathroom.
I brush my teeth and my hair. My hair is now down so it has its natural look with curls forming near the ends. The silver bangs still fallen over my left eye, completely masking it. Once I'm done, I go in my room to change.
Gilgamesh is nowhere to be seen as I take a tight long-sleeve blue top with black jeans. I know he is here, just in spirit form.
"Come out from your spirit form," I demand more harshly than intended. Although he deserves a cold tone from me, even if I'm starting to care less about last night.
"You still assume you can speak to me in such a manner, regardless of yesterday?" he rudely asks as he materializes out of the golden dust. He remains in his casual clothing and leans on the wall across from me.
"Must I say it again? I am your Master and the one who summoned you here. Therefore, I will talk to you as I please." I puff my chest my lips curve to a small haughty smile.
"I chose to answer to your summoning, allowing you to hold the advantage out of the other opponents." He returns the arrogant smirk. Why would he bring up the summoning of all things? "I basically guarantee your victory."
"I'm still strong enough to have brought you here..." I whisper and have nothing else to say. "I need to change so get out, stay out, and maybe we will continue our lovely conversation." I end sarcastically.
He just stands there with that annoying smug expression after what I said. By my surprise, he gets off the wall and heads for the bedroom door. Right before he exits, he looks back.
"I will give you thirty seconds or I will enter once again," he chuckles and shuts the door.
"What the-"
"Twenty-nine. Twenty-eight..." he interrupts me on the other side. His chuckles are obvious.
Nonetheless, I still hurry up to get undressed, feeling embarrassed by me actually obeying him. He can be so annoying and yet so funny.
"Ten. Nine. Almost done, Naomi!" he shouts, followed by a laugh.
I zip up my jeans and hurry to slip my shirt on me. The doorknob slowly turns and am still not completely dressed. Just as the door swings open, I have my shirt on and Gilgamesh looks in awe.
"That looks quite nice on you," he smiles and approaches me.
"Don't even think about it, idiot," I laugh and toss my white top and black skirt in my hamper. He rolls his eyes at my last word.
"You continue to try and belittle me?"
"Oh well," I shrug and leave the room for the downstairs. He fades away in golden dust without making a remark.
I keep on going until I reach the basement. The golden circle I used to summon Gilgamesh has faded very much. I approach it and kneel down, resting my hand on the cold feeling of it. Even now, I do not understand how this was here when I moved in.
"It has nothing left," I assume while observing the large circle.
"That circle still has some potential to it, even if it appears to be depleted." I look up to find Archer leaning on the wall in front of me.
"Would it be able to supply mana?" I ask him.
"Perhaps, but at the moment, it contains nothing," he says and crouches down as well. "It still baffles me how you managed to get this sort of summon circle."
"I myself am confused. It was here when I arrived in this house, along with..." I pause remembering something.
"Along with what exactly?"
"A book... A book!" I jump up and grab the book of the Holy Grail on the shelf.
I skipped many pages when I read it so maybe I missed something, like a note of it's origin since I never found this until the trip to Italy.
"Why are looking in that?" he questions as I flip through every single page.
"Ahah!" A note slipped out of the middle of the book, where it spoke about Holy Relics used to summon strong Servants. It read:
I thought this book would help you in the events soon to come. This summon circle should give you the Servant for your victory. I'm sorry you had to find out this way, Naomi. I love you... -Tokiomi
He set it up before I stayed. Although he helped me tremendously to move in, I never knew he gave me the book and arranged the summon circle. So he knows my Servant is the King of Heroes.
"Unbelievable," I whisper. The crumpled note falls to the ground. "My father knew for so long and had so many chances to tell me but decided against it. Such an idiot."
"Betrayal and deceit are key for the promise of victory in war, woman." Gilgamesh does make a point. He didn't even read the note and he said the right thing.
"This isn't his war to win," I retort coldly.
"Everyone has their own battle to overcome."
"And he shouldn't be interfering in my fight."
He stays silent. I put the book back with the note on the same page. I head to the living room and jump on the couch with a huge sigh.
"You need to relax yourself a little, Naomi." He sits on the other side of the couch, having exit his spirit form with two glasses of wine.
"By the way," the wine reminds me of something to ask him."Were you drinking while I was sleeping?"
"Yes I was," he responds and chuckles.
"What is so funny? If someone had come, you would have been too-"
"Once again, you underestimate me. It is getting very aggravating," he interrupts me mid-sentence. I really do. And he is a great King, so why do I?
"I'm sorry..." I blush in embarrassment. Of course, he laughs.
"Speaking of apologies, whatever happened the night before was uncalled for on my part." To my surprise, he sounds sincere and means it.
"Let's just leave that behind us," I say and form a little smile.
"Although that kiss was very nice," he smirks and my cheeks start to warm.
"..." I have nothing. He knows he is right and so do I. I didn't resist and he remembers crystal clear.
"There is no need to feel ashamed, you had enjoyed it as well." His tone is slow and a little seductive.
"I-I'm not!" I stutter.
"It would have been so pleasing if we went further-"
"How about we go outside?" I change the subject and run the get my coat and shoes. I hear his burst of laughter at my quick exit from our conversation. If I'm being honest, I also find it kind of funny.
The calm and humor between us is very amusing. This great for the Master-Servant bond. We also make a strong team. With his limitless Gate of Babylon and my magic in healing and visions, many would see us as a threat. It gets my hopes up too high for this war and I have to remember the possibilities of other Servants.
I haven't been to the forest deep in Fuyuki so I decide we go there to relax. Gilgamesh hasn't really been making comments but merely observing the surroundings. Whenever we passed by a building, he would behold how great and the layout of it. Other times, he would have a grimace as to how odd it appears.
As we walk in the woods, the sun setting over the pink sky, he takes in the nature. It is so different from Uruk, his kingdom, in both good and bad ways. But the forest really got his interest. I suppose it is how the stars appear remarkably above it, or the giant trees anyone could climb to gaze upon the city.
I steal some glances at his expressions bringing a smile to my face. Some stars decorate the sky as the color changes from pink to a dark blue. The color change in the sky causes him to stare at it, being contagious that I copy.
"I always try to find interesting patterns among the stars when I'm here," I begin. "Sometimes, I would make up some stories and it would feel like the stars would dance along with it. Of course, that is my imagination. How about your era?"
"There aren't as many as there were embellishing the skies of Uruk, but still appealing to the eye," he responds. "But as the sun is replaced by the moon, these heavenly bodies become very captivating."
I laugh and feel his eyes on me. I turn to look at him but he continues to stare.
"Is something wrong?" I ask.
"I just wonder if these stars can defeat your beauty." He holds a smile and I return with my cheeks pink and rosy. My face lights up as something pops up in my head.
"I have an idea! Let's climb this tree and see the city!" I express with joy as I run up to the tallest tree in sight.
"I'm not getting dirty, Naomi," he snickers and I shrug.
"All I'm saying is it will be more fun." I get a hold of a branch and start moving quickly.
"You're going to hurt yourself," he laughs and shakes his head.
"Is that a challenge?" I test him and am almost at the top. "Because I'm totally fine. I bet you're too scared to come up that's all!" I test his ego further.
"Then let's see who can get there first!" he shouts, annoyed from my words, and fades in dust.
"Hey! Not fair!"
I jump to the next branch and see the golden sparkles appearing right above my head. I make it just in time for when he appears in front of me on the other large branch.
"You cheat- Whoa!" Little did I know, I was sitting on a thin and scrawny branch. I heard the crack and feel myself fall right off. Luckily, he got my arm before I crashed down. He pulls me close next to him and smirks.
"I warned you that you would get hurt."
"I hate you sometimes," I joke. We both set our eyes on the city in front of us. The lights booming across the night skies and of many hues. It really is nice.
"Even for me, this sight is quite nice," he admits and I giggle.
"I don't know about you, but this feels like some sort of escape from the war," I exhale.
Instead of a response, his hand brushes past mine and I look at him happily. His head inches closer to mine. I want to pull back, but I remember the sweetness and passion last time. His free hand goes for my cheek and I close the space further. We both close our eyes and I feel the cold of his forehead pressed on mine, and I feel his breath on my lips. The lustful feeling returning.
BOOM!
We both open our eyes and back away with red faces. But that isn't the biggest concern.
Our eyes go to the city and I spot nothing. I look around to find the top of a castle that we missed. Very little smoke escaping it but still noticeable. I attempt to stand up and get a better view, only to find the giant castle with more explosions. I sense much mana from that location.
"An enemy fight has begun," Archer speaks as if reading my mind. "Although, it doesn't appear to be the only one beyond this forest."
"Yeah," I reply. "I must see who's headquarters that castle belongs to. It can advance us very much in our strategies."
"Very well," he agrees. "We will have to find a different route to avoid the other battles taking place across it. I sense that two battles are between Masters, and one is between Servants."
"Let us enter from the West and see if it is safe or if I receive a vision. Once we arrive at the castle, we must find a good entrance to remain hidden enough."
"Indeed."
We quickly descend from the tree and observe which path we can take. No. If we follow a path, they will only find us before we reach the castle. I think as I examine our choices. Then we will make our own.
"We won't be going in any of these paths. They will find us or we will find someone in a fight. So we will make our own trail."
"Hmm, good thinking. We shall be on our way," he nods in agreement.
I start to head for the many trees until he grabs my wrist. I turn around to find his serious expression.
"I will remain in spirit form. But should we come across an opponent, I will fight them. You will have to find the castle without me if such events are to come. That means you are going to have to rely on your healing and visions. Will you be safe without me, Naomi?" he asks and I nod firmly.
"I will call you if need be. I'm hoping that won't be the case though," I worry at the thought.
"If we do end up very separated, do you think we can meet here in time?"
"Yes, I was about to ask you that," I nod.
"Good. Remember, it will appear that you are alone but I am still by your side. If you receive a vision, regarding myself or you, keep yourself safe and I will be fine. Besides, it is highly unlikely for anyone to land a finger on me," he expresses with pride.
I grin and say, "It better not be the case then."
He fades away and I start to head in between the trees, making sure not to make too much noise or little clues in case I have a follower on me. The first person to come to my mind is Assassin. If they are watching us, I must be very careful not to get another attack. Who knows if Kirei will decide to act on his own without the help of Tokiomi.
So close. We are so close to the castle but really, we have a huge distance to close. But we are getting closer.
Very close. So close and yet we missed the chance to witness something both of us wanted to see. No, needed.
So close...
So close ehhh :3
I hope you guys liked it! There will be more to come and plenty of questions will be answered throughout the story and I definitely won't stop writing!
Right now is exam time so it might take a long time until the next, but I WILL continue this no matter what!
