This was pain in the ass to finish xD not in a bad way though. I had no inspiration and no imagination either. This was rushed and I had to play Project Diva F2nd more than usual to even get some kind of inspiration. Ahh anyways I hope you enjoy this more than I did. WARNING: I don't have spell check so there will be a lot of mistakes in the fanfiction so please keep calm.
I do not own Vocaloid or the song/song's lyrics. I simply own my ideas and story.
Morning comes, as if it were the thawing of spring.
If our frozen love someday flows hot,
Then I'll embrace you in the endless rain.
If you are hiding away your answer,
Then I'll somehow whisper to you with my unchanging voice,
and at the very least, I'll wrap up your broken heart.
The suns morning light came, bringing Kaito out of his sleeping trance.
"KAITO!" a loud knock came from the door. "WAAAKE UP!"
"It's my day off!" Kaito grumbled into his pillow.
"Ehh! Kaito! You forgot again, didn't you!? We're patrolling the garden party!" Len's voice finally breached Kaito's senses.
"Wha...what? There wasn't anything planned for to..." Kaito stood immediatley, almost stumbling into the bathroom. "WHY DIDN'T YOU REMIND ME YESTERDAY!?" Kaito roared, brushing his teeth and washing his face at the same time. Kaito could hear Len laugh from the hallway.
"I did. You were too busy playing that instrument of yours that you didn't hear me. Now come on!"
Kaito followed his friend's advice and put on his uniform and hat. Not attempting to bring any other weapon except his sword and gun. "Eh you could have come early you know." he grumbled as he stepped out into the hallway to an eager Len.
"Well you know how it tickles my funny bone when you're all late and distressed." Len teased the dark haired soldier.
"Jut watch it Kagamine." he grit his teeth.
"So you think we'll meet some pretty ladies?" Len asked as his eyes trailed up to the massive ceiling high above them.
"I don't think the daughters of the aristocrat families can even be called pretty. They all look common to me." Kaito shrugged but looked out a large window where he could clearly see the city below them.
The palace was an enormous structure that was known as the flower amongst the weeds. The weeds referring to the buildings and shops surrounding it. The kingdom had fallen into ruins after the second Liberation war. That was almost 10 years ago. The people were poor and restless, the King and his family lived in luxury as their people died of starvation.
Kaito, of course, could say nothing about it since joining the guard and becoming a member of The Elite was the only way to bring his own family out of poverty. He regretted leaving the blue haired girl he had vowed his undying love to. He left her devastated and in more pain than he could ever imagine but he vowed that one day he would make it all up to her. He would do what it would take to have her as his own once more.
"You know the rebels are getting closer and closer." Len commented as they climbed down the stairs and turned to the right into a hallway which led to the palace gardens.
"I know..." his eyes remained focused on the golden door at the end of the hall. He lowered his voice "You can't blame them, Len. All they want is to give the poor a fighting chance."
"There you are!"
Both Len and Kaito watched as Kiyoteru waved them over and out into the fresh air, the sun blinding them for a second.
"You were almost late!" he whispered. "I was almost forced to place two recruits in your place. The royal family has already arrived."
"Well you know how Kaito is when he forgets." Len laughed.
"You need an alarm." Kiyoteru laughed. "Now go on! You both along with me are the only ones without turns so that means more work for us. Now if the ladies ask for a dance you can't deny them so go have fun but keep an eye out."
Len smirked "Oh we'll have fun alright."
Kaito watched as his partner and commander made their way to their posts. Following their lead his blue eyes scanned the rich faces in the crowd. Frilly dresses and uniforms twirled around on the tiled dance floor in the middle of the large garden. "They must have removed the fountain again." he spoke to himself as maids and butlers bustled past him with trays of food and drinks. Noticing Len had made his first round and changed his route. Kaito did the same and began walking behind the hedges. He was still able to watch the party and watch behind the scenes. Closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath, the smell of roses taking over his nostrils.
"It's sweet isn't it."
Kaito opened his eyes to see a small figure hidden behind a tree.
"Are you not allowed to talk? I heard the king was strict but I never heard he commanded his guard to remain silent. Is it like an oath you take? Oh right you can't talk." she waved her small hand his way.
Kaito frowned as the female stood to fully face him. She was wearing a simple dark blue gown with long sleeves. Her light blue hair fell loose around her face bringing out the beauty of her eyes and her pale skin. Her lips were full and naturally red and there was a rosy tint to her cheeks that must have been some kind of makeup. "Miss..." he trailed off. Her beauty was stunning to say the least but in all his years working under the crown he had never seen her before and yet there was a strange air of resemblence about her. He had seen her before... met her but he could not place where.
"Call me Chizuru. No need for all that fancy stuff around me. What's your name?" she tilted her head the right, her hands folded neatly behind her.
"Kaito Shion, at your service."
"You don't look like a Kaito to me... more like a Tsuyoshi or something." her voice had become lazy like and her movements were slow.
Kaito watched her in silence. He knew he wasn't supposed to be standing there speaking to her but he couldn't help but want to stay with her. "If I may..." he began but paused when her eyes went back to his. He watched a spark of curiosity claim the light in her eyes.
"What? You want to know why I'm here all alone right? Well I can answer that for you but I'd have to kill you in the end." she laughed but stopped whe she noticed Kaito's expression. "I came back here to avoid the people." she said in a bored tone. "Having to speak to them about politics and the cities around isn't my cup of tea ya know." pulling her seeves she crossed her arms. "Now speaking about suitors might just kill me. I don't need a man controlling me and telling me what to do. Not even my father did that and now that he's dead and mother married that..." her face hardened " man. All he does is boss me around."
Kaito watched with curiosity as various expressions crossed Chizuru's face. He had opened his mouth ask her who the man was when he heard someone yelling and coming there way.
"Lady Miku! Lady Miku where are you!"
"Someone must be lost." he muttered when he saw a red headed girl with red eyes to match ran around looking into bushes and behind statues. She was wearing a maids uniform but Kaito could not see the crest of the family she belonged to. He caught sight of Miku retreating and hiding behind the tree like when he found her.
"Mister!" the red head ran towards him and stopped a few feet away from him ."Have you seen Princess Miku? I..I..." the red head took in a deep breath to calm herself down. Her eyes were wide with fear and her body was beggining to shake.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
"If I don't bring back Lady Miku then I'll be in big trouble for losing her again. I always fall for it! She disappears after ordering me to brng her something. She can never stay in one place! Oh dear!" her hands went to her face. Her shoulders shaked as she sobbed.
"Kaito!"
Kaito turned looked to his right as Kiyoteru emerged from behind some bushes. "Sir!" he stood straight and saluted his comrade.
"It seems we lost a princess. Have you by any chance seen Princess Hatsune Miku of the Moon Kingdom?"
Before Kaito could respond he heard a firm voice of a man call out.
"You lost her again Teto?"
The blue haird soldier glanced to were a man with purple hair pulled up into a pony tail followed Kiyoteru's steps. He was wearing a black mask that made it difficult to even recognize his face. Kaito couldn't help but compare this man to the man with the purple hair he had seen the previous night.
The red head maid by the name of Teto shook her head with such force that he thought it might cause her harm. " I'm sorry! She did it again Kamui! She never listens to me!"
Kaito watched the purple haired man named Kamui rub his temple. His purple eyes surveying the area around them. His eyes landed on him for a few moments before smirking as they landed on the tree. "I''ll find her don't worry. Go let our king and queen know that I will be escorting her back ina few minutes, okay? Don't stress out like that again, Teto. You'll end up kicked out of the palace next time."
Teto nodded and ran off with the message.
"I am truly sorry for having bothered you with such a task, Kiyoteru." he gave him a deep bow.
"This is not a problem, Kamui. A lost princess is a serious issue." with tgat Kiyoteru gave Kaito a nod and left.
Kamui nodded and made his way towards the tree. Stopping just a few inches away. "I must ask you come with me Miku."
Kaito looked at Chizuru, or rather Miku, as she rolled her eyes and stepped away from the tree.
"Kamui, I told you not to speak to me anymore." her voice was no longer lazy and her movements were fast and princess like.
"My lady, If I recall, you asked me not to speak to you yesterday, you did not mention today also." a smirk made his eyes brighten.
"You're a princess?" Kaito broke into their converssation.
"Morning comes, as if it were the thawing of spring." she repeated softly. Biting her lip Miku nodded, avoiding the eyes of the soldier. "I wanted to have a normal conversation with someone who didn't know me."
Kamui watched the soldier. "You are part of The Elite?"
"Yes." he responded but kept his eyes trained on the princess before him.
"His majesty, your king" Kamui put emphasis on the last word "has allowed us to keep two soldiers of The Elite guard during our stay in this kingdom. We have chosen one already and we are in need of one more. You seem like a good lad and you do know your way around the palace, correct?"
Kaito nodded "Of course we're trained to know the ins and outs of this palace."
"I see. Very well." Kamui smiled
Kaito watched the man smile. It put him on edge, the way he smiled seemed unnatural and the way he moved, with such swift elegance and speed like the princess, made him look more like a viper ready to strike if need be. "My lady Miku." Kaito smiled and bowed to the royal visitor.
"Elite Kaito." Miku spoke with a smile
"Miku we should go back to party before your mother worries herself sick again." Kamui took her arm and wove it through his.
"Let's meet again Kaito." she kept looking back at him until she dissapeared.
"Yeah, let's meet again." he said.
"Ehh Kaito!"
"What is it now Len?" he rolled his eyes in annoyance to the blonde haired youth. "Aren't you supposed to be on patrol?"
"I'd say the same to you 'tfollowthepatrolrules. The party was moved into the grand sitting room for tea. The sun was too hot for them it seems. So Kiyoteru decided he and the others can handle it themselves inside and gave us," Len pointed at himself then at Kaito "the rest of the day off."
"And what exactly are we going to do in our free time?" he asked
Len smirked and crossed his arms "Oh I have an idea."
"This isn't what I call a day off Len." Kaito frowned at Len who was running from stand to stand in the market area downtown.
"Come on Kaito! Try some of the food! Let's have some fun for once."
Kaito watched as Len ran off towards another food stand wth fruits. It was rare for them to e allowed to have such free time and be allowed to wear clothes a civilian can wear. In this case Len wore a white shirt line with an encircling yellow line at the end of the sleeves a long with a pair of dark baggy shorts that went past his knees with white shoes. His usual mess of spiky hair shone brightly in the sun as the hat that has always been a part of his uniform was not worn.
"Your friend is quite the ball of energy." an elder woman with silver hair stood beside Kaito. She was holding a wooden cane and her back was bent, as sign that she was once a hard worker.
"Yes. He has yet to master the art of controlling it." he laughed
"If our frozen love someday flows hot, Then I'll embrace you in the endless rain."
"Excuse me?" he turned to face the elder woman but she was gone. "What the..."
"Kaito look what I got you!"
Kaito payed little attention to his partner. "Where did she go?" he whispered to himself.
"Stop that Kaito!" Len grabbed the blue haired mans hand and shoved an apple into his hand. "Eat this and enjoy yourself Kaito. You're becoming a nuisance with that blue scarf of yours." he tugged at the scarf Kaito wore. "You look like a grandfather to me! And you alays have that violin on your back!"
Kaito looked down at his clothing. He wore brown pants with white and blue shoes along with a white long sleeved coat that reached up to the middle of his thighs. "My clothes are fine Len and carrying a violn is nothing bad." he crossed his arms.
"Whatever. You won't even find a woman with those clothes on and that violin either." he laughed and ran off to another shop.
"Idiot." he laughed and took a bite of the sweet red orb, finishing it within minutes and throwing the core away. The crowd was thick and so was the noise. "Let's fond someplace quiet." Kaito spoke to no one in particular as he walked down an alleyway and into a small area where no one but himself and the soft splashes of the nearby fountain were to be heard. "This should be enough." he thought, sitting on a stone bench facing the fountain. He removed the violin from its case and began playing a soft melody. His eyes closed and all he could hear was the sound of the music flowing from him and the soft splashes of water. His mind blocked off the world around him, only his music and the rhythm of the soft splashes claimed his ears. This as his musical trance, this was his escape from reality. Kaito remained in this trance until a soft hum from an unknown source pulled him out. The hum turned into an alluring, angelic, voice.
"If you are hiding away your answer,
Then I'll somehow whisper to you with my unchanging voice,
and at the very least, I'll wrap up your broken heart."
Kaito opened his eyes to meet green ones staring at him. His hands stopped and so did the music. He didn't dare move any longer.
"Why did you stop?" the woman spoke in an sad tone. "That was beautiful... reminded me of a close friend I once had."
Kaito frowned now. He couldn't help but stare at the black masquerade mask that covered most of her features. She wore a black long sleeved shirt with matching pants and boots which put him on edge. This was the assassin he had caught yesterday. "You..."
"Oh? Me?" the woman feigned surprise. "You are a scary man Kaito Shion." she giggled. "The Elite are supposed to be scary, aren't they? I never would have thought one of them is such an expert with the violin."
Kaito remained frozen in place. He was looking for a way out or rather a way of getting to her without hurting her or himself.
"I know what you're thinking Shion." she smiled. "You cant get to me without one of us getting hurt and..." she paused and stood from her seat at the edge of the fountain. "I don't think you want to capture me either. You know what they'd do to me... and to my family..." she paused and crossed her arms "I'd like to make a deal with you."
Kaito now understood why she was here and why she hadn't hurt him from the start. She must have been following him and waited until he was alone. "What makes you thik I want to strike a deal with you?"
"Because if you don't then you, this so called "kingdom", and the ones you love will be destroyed."
"I don't even know who you are,who you work for, what your goal is, and if I can trust you." he spoke with a harsh tone.
The woman smiled and nodded "Of course... I understand. Now to answer all those doubts and questions you have, you do know who I am. I work for the rebels. Our goal is to stop the marchy from destroying us, destroying our people just because they want to keep us under control. People die of hunger out here, they die because they speak their minds. We will not allow us to be thrown into castes because of that king and his subordinates. Now you can't trust anyne in this world... ths may be cruel and harsh but it is the truth. I will put my trust in you, now you must decide if you can do the same for me." her words were soft but firm. She was speaking the truth, the cold harsh truth.
Kaito took in what she had just said. "I know you?"
She smiled and nodded "Of course. How can you forget me so quickly? I guess your head is truly filled with thoughts of the princess." she laughed "Kiyoteru was right, you are good boy."
"Kiyoteru..." his eyes widened in alarm and he stood far too quickly that the woman took a step back in alarm. "How do you know Kiyoteru?"
"He's with us Kaito. He is a rebel."
"No. He wouldn't do that." he said
"Oh yes he would, he knows how harsh the world is. He'll do anything to change this. Even place a new face on the throne."
"Who. Are. You."
She sighed and began untying the mask she wore. "I'm doing this to protect the innocent. You have to understand that."
Kaito remained silent, watching her hands let loose the ribbons that had the mask secured around her features.
"Let this be a sign of our trust, Elite Shion." and with those words the mask fell into the fountain.
So there it is. I hope you all enjoyed it. Please leave a review and such. Thank you all.
