- Chapter Seven - Get To Know You -

- Normal P.O.V -

It was nearing the end of the day and Yoh's final class was basically a lesson in which everyone just talked and the teacher just ran though notices for the next day and stuff about working life like how to write CV's, what career paths you wanted to take, simple stuff like that. Since it wasn't too important a lesson Yoh only had it twice a week.

As the young Asakura approached the classroom, he saw Hao standing outside the door to his class. Yoh felt a wave of excitement flow through him, he was going to have a lesson alone with his brother. Both Manta and Anna were in different classes during this period.

Yoh approached Hao and tapped his shoulder. Hao turned, and gave Yoh that smile that he found, warmed his heart.

"Hello Yoh, are you in this lesson as well?" Hao asked.

"Yeah, hey wanna sit next to me? We don't have a seating plan in this lesson. Etsuko sensei is really cool. I'm sure he wouldn't mind!" Yoh chirped. Hao merely chuckled at his actions, only muttering how childish Yoh could be. The younger Asakura didn't mind, he was just happy he was going to get to spend some time with his brother.

When the lesson started Etsuko sensei introduced Hao to the class before bringing up the lesson topic, which was socialisation.

"Now everyone, during working life you will find that you might have to socialise with others. It may seem like a simple thing, but establishing a relationship with your collogues is important in the work place! A stable relationship means that you can function better as a unit, which is something a lot of managers will be looking for when hiring. Now I want you to turn to your neighbour and begin to socialise with them, and if your neighbour is your friend go find someone completely different, now go!" He said before clasping his hands together. Yoh couldn't believe his luck right at that moment. He turned to Hao who was already looking at Yoh.

"So, wanna socialise?" Yoh asked turning his chair towards Hao.

"Why not." Hao smiled turning to face Yoh properly. Yoh perked up and grinned widely.

"So, mind starting us off?"

"Just tell me what you want to know Yoh, and I'll answer as best as I can." Yoh thought to himself, he had to take into consideration Hao's apparent amnesia, but Yoh still wanted to know every little thing about Hao.

"Uh, where did you go to school before here?" Yoh tried.

"Well, I was home schooled, my carer Luchist taught me all I know." Luchist huh, he was that ex-X-Law, and Hao's main lacky. He must have been apart of this also.

"Carer? No parents?" Yoh slipped. Yoh regretted saying that as he saw Hao give a sad smile.

"My mothers name was Asanoha Douji, she was nice from what I remember. She died a long time a go but I can still hear her voice sometimes. I remember her calling me Asaha, I think that was her nickname for me... I wish I remembered more." Yoh's eyebrows furrowed, he began to wonder where these memories were coming from.

''I see, so did you have friends when you were home schooled." Hao shook his head before speaking.

"Luchist said I never was a people person, he said I had some sort of social anxiety so I never really have been around anyone other than Luchist and Opacho my whole life."

"Luchist said?" Yoh had done it again, he didn't mean for that to slip out but Hao didn't seem to mind.

"Yeah, a couple months back, some gang attacked me or something, I don't know what happened really. I kind of have amnesia. I remember some parts of my life, but it's still all a blur. You know?" Yoh felt an incredible wave of guilt wash over him.

"R-Really?"

"Yeah, I was out for a week! When I came to, I was still concussed. I still have scars all over my body, and for a month I had a broken arm, which still hurts sometimes." Yoh started to feel a little sick with himself. He never wanted to hurt Hao that badly.

"I'm so sorry that had to happen to you. You didn't deserve it." Yoh said in a low tone. Hao reached over and touched Yoh's hand. Yoh looked into Hao's eyes and gave a weak smile.

"Don't be Yoh. It's not your fault." A lump in Yoh's throat formed, but he nodded regardless.

"Is there anything else you wanted to ask me Yoh?" Yoh shook his head, still thinking about how badly he hurt Hao. Hao, however smiled before saying: "Now I get to ask you questions, right?" Yoh looked at Hao and nodded.

"Okay, I've said all I could about my family, now you tell me about yours." The older Asakura smiled. Yoh didn't know exactly what to say about his family. No one had ever asked about them before, and he didn't know what he could say without revealing too much. Yet, at the same time Yoh didn't want to lie to his older brother anymore, especially when Hao had been so honest with him without hesitation.

"Well, my family is sort of... Old fashioned. They believe in the family having a head, and an heir to the Asakura name. So much so that they made it so that Anna and I were to have an arranged marriage." Yoh started.

"So I assume they're not aware that you... Aren't exactly into ladies." Yoh's cheeks lit up.

"I'm not into dudes! My friends juts think I am." Yoh said in a defensive tone. Hao just smirked to hide his faint disappointment.

"Now why would they think that?"

"Cause You and I went for ice-cream... And I told them I couldn't stop thinking about it." Yoh's lips formed a childish pout, Hao however felt his cheeks heat up at Yoh's comment. Yoh was being more blunt than Hao thought he would have been.

"Well I'm flattered I left such an impression. Now what were you saying about your family?" Hao decided to give Yoh a break on the whole 'closet gay' thing. He'd pry that out of Yoh another time, but for the time being he'd let the Asakura off. "You said that they needed an heir, so are you wealthy or something like that?"

"Oh, well it's nothing like that I guess. I mean, sure we might be a little more fortunate than others, but it's like... We own a sort of family shrine, and my family are strong believers of spirits and stuff, so they sort of want a leader to the Asakura household. When my father steps down, it's going to have to be me." Yoh was relieved that they got off the subject of his sexual orientation, and managed to provide Hao with an accurate enough answer.

"I see, so are you like the oldest child, or are you an only child?" Yoh felt his blood run cold at that question.

"I had an older brother once." Yoh finally said after a short silence.

"Had?" Yoh nodded whilst biting his lip.

"Yeah... My family didn't really approve of his choices, and he ran away when I was young. They never even told me about him." Hao looked at Yoh and gripped his hand a little tighter, which comforted the young Asakura a little. "I met him earlier this year for the first time ever, and sure he wasn't particularly the nicest guy in the world, but I think that was only because he felt betrayed by our family? He had been in my life for barely a few month and in that time I never got to talk to him properly y'know, and then..." Yoh could barely finish his words. He felt so bad for doing what he had to do to Hao back then it was overwhelming. Hao remained silent and proceeded to caress Yoh's knuckles, Hao knew at this time there wasn't anything he could say to Yoh.

"My brother he... H-He died." Yoh could feel tears threatening to fall. "The worst thing is, I was the only one that cared! My family didn't even throw a funeral, or shed a tear, but I felt like a wreck. It just hurt that he might have been a good person or he just might have been led astray, yet everyone gave up on him, and I-I didn't, but I never got the chance to. I never got to call him Nii-san, or hear him call me Otouto. As soon as I got him back he dies and..." Yoh couldn't go on. He cupped his face and tried to stifle his tears, to no avail of course.

Hao smiled weakly to Yoh. Hao reached into his satchel and pulled out a packet of tissues and handed them to Yoh who willingly accepted a few.

"I'm so sorry, I don't usually burst into tears like this." Yoh snivelled, Hao just gave a small a chuckle.

"I think I know the kind of person you are, Yoh-kun. You're the type who will go out of their way for others and you'll put on a happy face regardless of how you feel on the inside." Yoh just stared at Hao and said nothing. "You know, you have a strong heart Yoh-kun, to do such a thing isn't easy, and I am happy you opened up so much to me. Thank you." Hao wiped a tear Yoh missed, off with his thumb. Yoh nuzzled into Hao's touch who placed his hand flat against Yoh's cheek.

"Thank you for listening... I-I really needed this." Hao gave Yoh a warm smile who smiled back.

"Any time. You can always speak to me about."

Denounced to the twins, Amidamaru was actually watching them as they spoke. He was hidden underneath Yoh's desk in his spirit ball form. Amidamaru had never seen his partner shed so many tears in the course of two days. The dead samurai couldn't fathom why Yoh had confided solely to his brother rather than him, and when did Yoh shed these tears? How is it the spirit hadn't noticed his partner's silent suffering. It was clear the connection between Yoh and Hao was stronger than any other.

The final bell rang and Etsuko sensei dismissed. Yoh and Hao walked out of the classroom together, however Hao had to go the teachers lounge to discuss something with his maths teacher, whereas Yoh had to meet Manta and Anna round front; so they had to part ways much to both of the teens dismay. When Yoh reached where Manta and Anna were, he waved to the two.

"Yoh-kun! What's the matter, why are you crying?" Manta asked immediately, looking distressed. Manta had never seen Yoh genuinely cry before, nor did Anna for that matter. Yoh's eyes were stained red and his tears had drenched his cheeks. Yoh smiled at the short teen before saying:

"Nothing's wrong. I haven't felt this good in ages." Manta and Anna shared semi-confused glances before looking back at Yoh who lightly chuckling.

Anna looked inside Yoh's mind and saw what happened between Yoh and Hao. Even she hadn't known that Yoh had ever felt that way.

'Yoh and Hao are getting so close already, I don't know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.' Was all the Itako thought to herself before the trio proceeded to walk to the Funbari Onsen.
