A /N:Hey everyone! You all seemed to enjoy the little one shot and after seeing your comments and the fact that people followed this I decided to write a second chapter. Reviews always welcome! On a side note: *** = POV and time lapse.
"Why do I have to lead the mission again?" The clearly flustered turian muttered as he readied his gear. Kate still seemed to be under the effects of the prothean artifact so they all had voted Garrus as the sub leader till they found a way to reverse it. Even Javik agreed that Garrus would be best to lead in her "absence".
"Garrus just take that as a sign that everyone on the ship trusts you, and you know Shepard would have picked you to lead in her absence too." Tali patted his shoulder reassuringly and he nodded. She was right after all but what if Kate never recovered and stayed a child forever? He shook his head, he didn't need to-didn't want to think about it right now. Javik, Vega, Liara, and himself were about to go off the Normandy and into the citadel to help fellow Spectre Jondum Bau with a theory of the reapers indoctrinating the hanar. At least someone else had realized the Reapers were a threat to the galaxy.
"Garrus will come back right?" Kate scrambled around in the co-pilot chair reaching her hand out to Joker to poke him then stopping mid poke at the semi glare he gave her.
"For the hundredth time yes Kate he will come back." Joker rolled his eyes, they hadn't even been gone 30 minutes and the young Shepard insisted having constant updates about everyone, well more so Garrus. Well... only about Garrus.
"You sure?" She gave him her best sad puppy face, extending her lower lip into a huge pout. He grimaced, hell Shepard was like family to him but this took it a little too far into awkward land. He remembered the first time she saw him on the SR-2, she nearly pulled him out of the pilot seat in a crushing bear hug almost breaking several bones in the process, saying she was beyond glad to have someone on this ship who could have her back. Although he couldn't see what else he could do other than provide sarcastic remarks and witty one-liners.
"Yes Kate, now why don't you go spend time with Tali and go color or play with Ashley or EDI." Although thinking about it all three of those choices would be not suitable, with Tali they'd probably be playing around in the engines, Ashley would be a drill sergeant to the little Kate, and EDI? God forbid his robot girlfriend search the net for childcare and end up with some weird way of taking care of Kate. Although it wouldn't be as bad as how Krogans take care of their young would it?Although with how easy Shepard had been able to get along with the two krogans she had recruited onto the Normandy among others it possibly could have been a good choice. He could even see her, as a teen hunting with other krogans and betting on the varren fights like she had when they took Grunt to Tuchanka for his rites. Joker lost in his own thoughts didn't register that Kate had toddled out of the cockpit with an idea set in her head. And she knew exactly who to go to for the help.
I admit there wasn't a sign of Shakarian fluff in this chapter, and that this chapter is just as short as the first but i thought it was a good note to end where it was, don't worry there will be a next chapter and it will be full of a super fluffy Shakarian moment. I do admit the fact that Tali is on ship even though the Spectre mission involving Jondum happens way before you reunite with Tali, as well as JokerxEDI but I didn't know where i should place this story in the Reaper war at this point seeing as i haven't played ME in almost a year and a half due to technical difficulties with my xbox 360. But anyways i hope you all enjoyed this chapter and look forward to the fluffiness that will happen in the next! Until next time!
