Three weeks had passed since Penny and Leonard had a chance to spend a night together. Leonard had been spending every minute studying for his final exam, and Penny spending the last two weeks in Nebraska with her family. Leonard was excited that he would finally be able to meet Penny's parents when they brought her back.
Leonard's exam was tomorrow morning, and Penny was due back in a few hours after. He was extremely nervous for his final exam… being the exam that would determine if he was selected for the job at Caltech.
Leonard's study session was interrupted by his phone ringing, and the lighting up of his beautiful girlfriend's name on the screen.
"Hey beautiful!" Leonard's voice boomed through the phone.
"Oh my god, Leonard! I've missed you so much, i've missed your voice. As much as I love it here with my family, I belong with you in Pasadena." Leonard could hear the hurt in her voice. He hoped more than anything she was having a good time with her family.
"I'll see you tomorrow, say hello to your family for me. I am so excited to meet them. How's the morning sickness going darling?" Leonard asked, knowing that she was struggling with it when she was home.
"It hasn't been as bad, Mom showed me this remedy with a broccoli smoothie that made it not so bad, and I've been having one of those every morning… no matter how disgusting they taste."
"Aw, poor baby. Well I'm just studying for my final exam, so i'll have to go. But sending you and our beautiful baby enormous hugs, and I'll see you tomorrow."
"Best of luck for your exam, sending you lots of love." Penny said, her voice very dim.
"What's up, you don't sound like your cheery self."
"I'm just home sick. Not like actual home sick, I am home. I'm you home sick. I miss Sheldon. Wow. I miss my friends. But most of all, I miss my boyfriend, and the father of my baby. Our baby. Best of luck with you exam tomorrow baby."
"I love you, and miss you. Goodnight beautiful." Leonard pleaded, as he hung up the phone.
"Wyatt, nice to meet you son!" Penny's Dad walked forward, and shook Leonard's hand, pulling a wince of pain from his lips, with the extreme pressure he applied to his hand.
"Good morning Sir!" Leonard replied, after recovering.
"Oh nonsense, call my Wyatt!"
"Okay, Wyatt. I's nice to finally meet you."
"Son, this is my wife, Meryl, Penny's mother."
Meryl walked forward and wrapped Leonard's body in a warm embrace, which was a shock for Leonard. He reciprocated the hug, as he realised that Penny wasn't there yet.
"Um, not need to sound rude, but where's Penny?"
"She's just getting her luggage, we both just brought carry on's since we are only here for two days."
"Well, i'll go help her."
Leonard walked off, across to the bagging area of the airport, extremely happy with how his feet 'Meet The Parents" interaction went.
When he arrived at the baggage area, he saw a few other people standing around, but no Penny.
He sat on the bench opposite the baggage carousel and waited.
"Did you miss me?" A familiar voice boomed from beside his ear. He knew exactly who it was.
"More than anything in the whole wide world" Leonard said, an immediate smile forming on his face, from ear to ear, as he turned around and lifted Penny into his arms. He latched her lips to his, and it felt like she had been away for a lifetime. These last two weeks had been so far for Leonard, to be alone, when he was so used to having his girlfriend with him everywhere.
"This two weeks have been the longest of my life." Leonard explained, as he put Penny down on the ground, and hugged her.
"For me too, I missed you so much!" Penny said, kissing him again. "Oh! You have to meet my parents!" Penny exclaimed, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the direction he came from.
"I already did, babe. I was standing at the pickup area, and they came over whilst you were getting your luggage, I think it went well."
"That's great." Penny leaned into Leonard's ear and whispered "I can't wait to get home, and rip those pants off your cute little tooshy."
This surprised Leonard. 'Her hormones certainly didn't calm down when she was away', Leonard laughed to himself, and they walked back to where her parents were standing.
"Did you guys want to get a coffee before your mum and I head back to the hotel?"
"Yeah, that'd be great. I am so sorry you have to start in a hotel… we just don't have the room!" Penny exclaimed, saddened that she had to shift her parents off to a hotel for two nights.
"it's fine, really." Meryl said, as they headed out the airport door.
The drive to the coffee shop was about 10 minutes from the airport, but was only around the corner from their apartment building. They all ordered separate coffees, Leonard ordering a decaf, and Penny just deciding to have a skim cappuccino. Both Meryl and Wyatt order full shot muggaccinos. Something they didn't have back in Nebraska. After they all had their coffees, they made plans for the next two days, then headed back to their respective homes; temporary or otherwise. As they walked out the door, Wyatt grabbed Leonard, pulling him over to the side of the door, whilst Meryl and Penny were oblivious and continued talking about clothes, or something.
"Son, I just want to know something." Wyatt asked, trying to make it look like a casual conversation.
"Anything Sir" Leonard replied.
"Look, I know you are Penny weren't together long, when you know… she got pregnant. And I don't want to know how that happened, I just want to know what your intentions are. I mean, from what I hear, you've only been together about 6 months, and I don't wont to see her get hurt. You're the most decent guy she's ever allowed us to meet, and I am just trying to look out for her, you know."
"Yes, of course. I completely understand sir. I have no other intentions other than marrying your daughter, with your blessing of course" Leonard laughter, quietly. "I want to make her the happiest woman in the world, because she deserves every bit of happiness. I will be the best father, to our child. Boy or Girl. And I intend to spent the rest of my life with her."
A smile grew on Wyatt's face. "That's exactly what I wanted to hear you say. You have my blessing. Now we better catch up to the girls."
When they caught the girls, both still oblivious to having walked alone for the last few minutes, they decided to all go back to their respective places.
"Wow, that was amazing..." Leonard panted, as Penny latched herself to the side of his body.
"Yeah, it's not very often that I am away from you for two weeks until normal circumstances, let alone when I am pregnant!"
"Fair call… I love you"
"I love you too. Where did you and my dad disappear to when we were walking down Los Robles?"
"He held me back, at the coffee shop and asked what my intentions were."
"Oh my god, are you serious. He's such an embarrassment!" Penny's face went red, hoping that her dad didn't say anything to offend or scare Leonard.
"No, it's fine. He said he knew that we were together long before you got pregnant, and that he wanted to make sure I wasn't still here just for the baby." Leonard assured her, as she was immediately embarrassed by her father.
"And, what did you say?" Penny asked, actually curious of what he said. It would be something adorable, she was sure.
"I said that I intended to hang around as long as you need me, I also intend to marry you one day, and I want to live the rest of my life with you. If that's okay with you, that is!" Leonard said, kissing her forehead.
"Well duh!"
