Hello everybody. Let's get this started.

Moment 7: Soup

Bedrest, medicine that tasted like crap, the symptoms...ugh. Chiro hated them all. When he was a bit younger, getting sick meant no duties for a while and some rest.

But at sixteen, it sucked.

Otto was actually the one who surprisingly noticed Chiro before anyone...even before Gibson. Chiro was paler except for his nose and cheeks when he walked into the kitchen that morning. His hair was a mess, his eyes were glassy, and every second Chiro was sneezing in the crook of his arm with a blanket around him.

He was sick plain and simple.

Chiro shivered and coughed as he placed his head on the cool kitchen table. Otto who was the only one in the kitchen walked over to his friend and placed his hand on Chiro's back.

"You ok there Chiro? You don't look so good."

Chiro looked up at Otto and smiled a little before speaking in a low and congested tone.

" I don't feel so good Otto. But please don't tell the others. Especially Tauri I don't want to worry him." Otto looked on in confusion. But when sick, shouldn't ya get loads of sleep and stuff?

" But I don't think that's such a good idea Chiro. Just tell Antauri and-"

" Tell Antauri what?"

Both occupants turned around to the deep concern of the silver simian. When it came to anyone in their family

especially Chiro, Antauri would be considered a mother hen...or a mother monkey. Otto looked at Chiro and patted his back in concern. Before he left, Otto spoke to Antauri who floated a little ways off the ground in patience not taking his eyes off his son.

" Chiro's not looking so hot. But he's got you so he's gonna be ok. But if you need help we'll be there." And with that the jubilant green monkey left. Antauri sighed as he took in Chiro and shook his head. Chiro looked away for a moment then sneezed wetly into his crumpled tissues. Antauri floated to his son as he sat down at the kitchen table and coughed harshly.

" Bless you. How long have you felt like this...since last night I'm assuming?"

Chiro's eyes widen as he knew Antauri knew but then smiled. There was nothing he could hide from his father figure. He was about to speak but he sneezed three times instead.

"Bless you three times. You have a small fever. Would you like Gibson to check on you. I could make you soup if you wish."

As much as Chiro loved Gibson, he hated the cold metal table and the equally cold temperatures in the room. But soup?

" That would be awesome Tauri. But I didn't know you could cook." Chiro joked as he was given fresh tissues by Antauri as he preparing the soup. Antauri chuckled as he boiled the water and cut up some pieces of chicken and vegetables. He turned slightly as he watched Chiro for a bit. The boy really did look unwell and he hoped that his soup would help alleviate his congestion. After a few minutes, Chiro had a hot bowl of Chicken and vegetable soup in front of him. Just the steam alone helped him to breath a little but in an instant his nose ran and he turned to sneeze.

" Bless you Chiro and many more." Antauri sat beside Chiro watching closely.

Chiro started eating the soup and sighed contently. The soup felt good and made him feel warm and was a great touch on his sore throat. But as he ate more, he realized that there was spices that caused his sore nose to itch terribly. Noting this, Antauri moved the soup and watched sadly as his son started sneezing and coughing in rapid succession. Antauri patted Chiro's back gently as the boy nodded in thanks as he drank the orange juice that Antauri placed there. God he felt awful. As he blew his nose Antauri spoke.

" I'm sorry you do not feel well. I thought putting in the spices would help."

"No...it did. It's just a bad head cold. This soup was amazing. Just wish my taste buds weren't screwed up." Chiro shivered as he coughed into his blanket. He really appreciated Antauri and everyone for what they did for him. He just wished this cold would go away. Chiro rubbed his sore eyes as he stood up holding on to the kitchen counter.

" I think I should lay down...my head is killing me."

" I'll help you to bed." Antauri smiled gently with much concern as he and Chiro went towards his room. On the way there, Chiro felt so dizzy from the ride up that he needed the support of the wall and Antauri. Soon Chiro felt the familiar feel of his bed and blankets being pulled over him by Antauri. The silver simian went to the bathroom and got some medicine, and a wet cloth with a bowl of cool water and set them on the nightstand. He placed a cool hand on Chiro who groaned in comfort, and noted his fever went up a bit. He help the sick leader to sit up so he could take the medicine. Chiro coughed abundance grimaced much to his displeasure and Antauri's amusement. Once Chiro was back under his covers, he felt a cool sensation on his forehead and neck. Antauri smiled as he continued to cool down the boy. Hopefully in a couple of days and knowing that the others will come see him soon, that Chiro will feel better.

"T...Tauri? " Chiro asked sleepily as he turned towards Antauri.

"Yes Chiro?"

" Can you make your soup again when I'm better. The others have got to...to try it."

Antauri smiled fondly as he rubbed his metallic fingers gently through Chiro's raven hair.

"Of course I will. Anything for my family. Get some rest Chiro ok? I'll be here when you awake. As well as the others."

Chiro smiled as he snuggled further into the blankets and fell asleep instantly. He didn't like being sick, but didn't mind much when he had his team, his family by his side.

He couldn't wait to eat more of Antauri's soup. He just couldn't wait.
