I'm quite happy to finally receive review for this series which I don't feel like updating. It's not writer's block but rather no motivation to write. As long as I have access to livejournal for the original version I had written, this series will not be abandoned even though I will take time to update ^_^. As mentioned to to thank her for her reviews, this chapter is dedicated to her.
Fairy Tail is not mine.
Chapter 8: Natsu VS Tsuna
"This is just too much!" Juvia raised her voice. They heard about what Grimoire Hearts was planning. Erza coerced the defeated dog-like enemy, Yomazu to speak up.
"This is all for the sake to fulfill our dreams!" Their goals were to obtain the power of Zeref. For that, they took a lot of time and efforts, experimenting on subjects by having them taking on the cloned power of Zeref. Unfortunately, most of them failed, killing many. Even so, they would not give up.
That was when Natsu was noticed. He was Jellal's apprentice who would be attached to the Magic Council. Natsu was special. He was losing his magic power back then. In order to obtain Natsu and not to be discovered for their plot, Ultear created diversion using a clone of Jellal as bait for attention. As all of his friends' attentions were on Jellal, no one would have noticed what was being done to Natsu. To his friends, he was thought to be killed by the clone of Jellal when he took the attack meant for Tsuna and Erza in his weakened state. Natsu finally became a vessel of Zeref when he was lured to the power of Etherion to ease his pain (S2).
Natsu Dragneel who was activated with the power of Zeref was shocked to see his former friends, Elfman and Evergreen. He was prepared to perish with Grimoire Hearts by unleashing everything he had with his power but never did he expect to see friends from Fairy Tail. They were all in danger. They were definitely no match for the powerful Seven Kin of Purgatory. In fact, even facing him posed a danger for them.
But why? Natsu did not foresee that in his dream of precognition.
"Why is there someone else in the island?" Elfman asked.
"Of course, he is the guy we are looking for for trespassing our sacred island". Evergreen replied while they approached the black-haired boy slowly.
Natsu realized what they were trying to do and he screamed in response holding them back with his hand.
"Don't come any closer!"
"YOU!" Elfman yelled back. Wasn't he rude in the first place was what Elfman thought. They were just trying to help. Perhaps he was lost and he ended up in the island and they could help him.
"Don't come near me… I'll leave right away." The boy tried to catch his breath and remained calm despite his overwhelming anxiousness. They could never come close to them. Who knows, he might lose his control…
Again?
Natsu could sense it coming. His power of death which he had no control over. He grasped his head. His head hurt. The pain was excruciating. Scenes of him attacking the members Oracion Seis, and even his friends, Gray, Tsuna and even Lucy were implicated flashed by his head.
A wave of smoke surrounded Natsu's body and it was about to be unleashed.
"Stay down!" A voice was heard before the power of death could get to them in the nick of time. Elfman and Evergreen was shoved to the ground by a pink-haired boy who happened to pass by on time.
The smoke subsided. Tsuna looked up and his eyes were locked on the culprit who attempted to murder his own friends.
"Tsuna." He came as well. Tears welled up Natsu's eyes. He did not mean that to happen. He almost killed his friends.
Tsuna was in fury. He never thought he would ever witness his brother killing first hand.
"Are you mad? How dare you? Just how much blood did you have on hand?!" Tsuna yelled in rage.
Elfman noticed that the plants surrounding them appeared to have… wiltered?
"He isn't normal. That is his magic." Evergreen deduced.
"Tsuna!" A sharp voice was heard in the air calling out for his companion. The blue cat finally caught up. "What's going on, Tsuna?" Happy asked and his eyes widened when he spotted the black-haired boy.
"Natsu?"
The trio stood up facing the black-haired boy. Tsuna was eyeing the boy carefully. Was he too late? Has Zeref gained full control over his twin brother?
"How dare he try to murder Elfman and Evergreen in my presence? Brother is right before me now but yet I can't acknowledge him. It's not safe to attack him directly either. What should I do?"
"Why are you…" Before Natsu could finish, Tsuna punched him.
"Shut up, idiot! Since you had lost control, I shall not hold back!" Tsuna snarled.
"Did he just punch him?" Elfman questioned feeling surprised.
"Yeah". Evergreen shuddered.
"He is our Fireball Tsuna". Happy emphasized.
Natsu was thrown aback upside down. He was trained to defend himself even without his magic. He landed nicely with his palm on the ground. Regaining his balance was easy.
"I don't want to hurt them…"
Happy noticed tears running down Natsu's cheek.
"He is crying." Happy realised. Had the boy right before him changed? Happy recalled the good times they had together.
"Natsu, are you really under control of the dark magic?"
"What a creepy guy." Evergreen commented.
Suddenly, a bolt of pain strike through Natsu. It was the same pain he felt earlier. He was losing control of his power again.
"NO! I don't want to hurt them!" He cried as the wave of dark energy emerged from his body charging to be unleashed.
"Tsuna, please get everyone off the island! They are in danger!" Natsu pleaded while he endured the pain. They not only have to run away from him and also to get out of the island before it was too late.
Tsuna noticed that something was off. "Run, everyone! Get away from here NOW! The enemy is coming."
It was too late. The death magic was out of control and Tsuna was caught into it.
"Tsuna!" Happy cried flying to his direction but was caught by Elfman.
"Don't, idiot!" Elfman yelled running away from the smoke while carrying Happy on his arms to a safe distance where they stood to wait for the smoke to clear revealing Tsuna who was coughing.
"Tsuna!"
"I'm fine!" Tsuna gasped to catch his breath. His brother had escaped.
"Did we scare him?" Happy frowned sadly.
"Natsu…"
Natsu hid behind a tree after running a certain distance. He sank to the ground against the tree in despair. Tears were running down his face. He felt hopeless.
"Ok, I promise to look for you if you ever disappear one day. Are you happy now?"
"It's a promise, Tsuna!"
He recalled the promise from the memory he just regained. Tsuna really came for him.
He was determined to perish with Grimoire Hearts but now he wavered. He realized he did not want to die. He wanted to save his friend but he did not know how.
"Do you really want to save them?". A familiar voice was heard in his mind.
"Who are you?" Natsu asked looking around.
"Come to me".
Tsuna noticed that his scarf was stained black and he felt pissed.
"You know I hate black! Pink is better. Now where did he go? " He could not help but to comment. That was when he saw a warning signal flare was seen in the sky. So did the rest at the same time.
It was Erza who sent out the signal.
"It's a red signal". Said Leo who was hiding behind a rock with Gray.
"There are enemies". Gray realized. Different signal flare had a different meaning to it as agreed among the team during the mission briefing which just mean they had to gather back to the camp for regroup.
Lucy and Kana who were being followed by Gray and Leo saw the signal. Lucy got really worried for Natsu. She had to find him no matter what. They had missed each other twice and Lucy did not want to lose him again.
"Natsu, nothing must happen to you".
