Yami never knew he could dislike yet another person the same much as Bakura and his friends however he was mistaken. That was before he could actually meet his Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher. Professor Keith Howard or "Bandit" Keith as he preferred being called, was a tall man with the body structure of a body-builder, blonde and always wore a bandana with the American flag on his head and shades to his eyes (no matter what the weather was like outside), even by the first moment Yami laid a foot in his class he knew he wouldn't go well with him. As he learnt from one of Rebecca's comments he was only a replacement of a teacher. Even after many years, there weren't many people who would take the Defense against the Dark Arts position after what had happened during the years of Voldemort's return; therefore usually teachers wouldn't apply for the job. Keith was the only applicant that year, as it seemed. His first comment to the students when Yami sat on his chair was:

"I'll be your teacher from this day on, sods! I suggest ya to be quiet and I demand your respect and attention!"

When Yami growled in disapproval, the teacher started to yell, demanding to know who had made that sound, what was more, once his mouth opened, a torrential of cursing words escaped his mouth. Yami soon noticed there was no phrase of his that didn't contain at least the double amount of curses than the actual words needed for the phrase itself. Being a Japanese himself, in which most of the insults were rude forms of "you", Yami hardly knew half of the cursing words Keith was using! He needed translation from Joey to understand what the teacher was saying. Yugi himself was most of the time intimate and shy and also red-faced for he had never heard so many curses before in his life.

Yami would be really happy to know who on earth was the smart person responsible for hiring Keith. During the lesson he hardly helped the students understand what he was saying and he was using the spells, demanding from them to do the same, as if it was natural thing for the eleven-year-old First Years to know the book by heart. As a result only Rebecca was fully able to keep up with his teaching. Luckily for him, Yami, he spent many nights reading in his bed so some of the spells were not unknown to him. He would gladly shut this teacher's mouth with a curse or a jinx if he dared to, but he'd rather not cause too much fuss about it, so he didn't do anything more but proving himself in the lesson (even if sometimes he felt like his face would explode from embarrassment when he made a mistake and others from Slytherin would secretly giggle behind their textbooks). Last but not least, most of the students in class had realized even by the end of their first lesson, they wouldn't get many points from this teacher. Most likely they would lose a couple…

Transfiguration Lessons was a different tale. It is true that Professor McGonagall had nothing to do with that stupid Keith, Yami realized he wasn't one of his favorite teachers. The reason was simple; Professor McGonagall was really stern at the class. She never really needed to raise her voice. Just a glance over her small glasses was enough for the very small whisper to stop immediately. The second reason was that she had given him so many tons of homework that Yami needed hours every night after her class to finish them (and often he left a few of them unfinished). However that lack of will of his against homework was only an instinct that came like second nature to all students in the world. In reality he was half-grateful for them because he had something to do at nights at his green-dressed bed besides staring at the ceiling of curse inside his head the moment he wore that Hat on his head and the moment it screamed "Slytherin", changing, no, destroying all his plans and dreams in one go.

Yami couldn't help but admire McGonagall. Despite the fact she was Hogwarts's Headmistress, she still taught this hard lesson as well. Of course because of her duties she had to teach only the First Years but still, Yami wished he had half of her ability to organize things.

History of Magic could also be an extremely interesting lesson. Key word "could" cause the one teaching it was old-Professor Binns, an old ghost who (from what he had overheard from Rebecca while she was talking to a girl next to her) had lost his life while staying in class despite the fact the room was on fire. Probably he would never need a book again cause, as it seemed, he had taught the lesson for more than 100 years. As a result his voice was always low and monotone, as if he was telling some bedtime story to babies to sleep or as if he was also bored of saying the same things for yet another year but at the same time unwilling to stop teaching it. Most of students could talk or even throw messages written in pieces of paper inside class and Professor Binns would never move an inch from where he was standing or stop teaching his lessons. It wasn't unusual for students to start snoring in the middle of the lesson (even in the first desks) out of boredom while they were hopelessly waiting for time to start moving again.

Yami caught himself, not at all few times, fighting to keep his eyes open. He would sure wouldn't unless he was trying to distract himself and his sleepiness by keeping notes, hoping he could read them to his heart's content to Slytherin Common Room's tranquility. However sometimes Binn's hypnotic voice did the job to him, making him flow in a world between sleep and awake, waiting for the lesson to finish along with the rest of the students. Rebecca was probably the only one who was immune to Binn's…sleeping charm (figures!) and Yami caught himself many times asking her after the lesson to help him fill in some of the things he missed during the lesson.

There were so many dates and names of wizards and witches and so many things they were famous of that it was simply impossible to remember them all without making the slightest mistake.

Lessons like Herbology seemed equally interesting, most likely because Yami could remember the ingredients for the Potions Classes easier that way. On the up side the Herbology classes were right before Potions in his schedule so the knowledge he gained was put straight into action in the potion-making. On the down side, Herbology was the only class he didn't have in common with Griffindor House. Slytherin House was taking this class along with Hufflepuff and Griffindor with Ravenclaw so Yami had either his brother with him or Rebecca to whisper to her partners the correct answers for the countless herbal plants and fungi he had to remember by heart in order to know what kind of fertilizer he had to use for this, or how long it took to that to grow and be ready for use, what other use was Dittany for or how else was Wolfsbane known as etcetera. Luckily professor Neville Longbottom was a very kind and helpful teacher. Neville was a tall, well built man, Pureblood as Yami heard, with a pair of dark eyes that gazed over his students with kindness. When Yami had any kind of question, he knew Neville would be there for him to assist him and answer him. The classes took place in Hogwarts's greenhouse and the environment was calming to say the very least. Hufflepuff students were very friendly and kind too. Being the oldest one in class was still disturbing but at least Hufflepuffs wouldn't make fun of him (at least not right on his face) which made the situation bearable.

What was a disappointment was that Yami had yet to see ho flying lessons would be like. Unfortunately the weather was really bad, with constant downpours and strong wind and the teachers didn't want to risk first years, completely ignorant to flying techniques, to have any kind of accident. The space created to the schedules was usually replaced with study hours in the Houses' Common Rooms or with other lessons, which the teachers thought it was a chance for the students to study a little bit more and finish with the chapters faster. Yami had dreamt many times of flying. There was nothing he wished more than to get the chance to see how it feels to actually fly (even if that meant riding a broomstick). Every day he woke up he found himself praying the weather to be better so he could finally give it a go. The weather didn't seem to be listening to his prayers, therefore he usually spent those hours reading the old, leather-dressed books under the candlelight of Slytherin Common Room.

Finally one day, in the beginning of October the weather seemed nice enough to allow the flying lesson. It was a chilly, humid afternoon with gray sky but, thankfully, it had no wind or rain to stop them. Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Griffindor students were forming this class once more. To Yami's great relief Yugi, Joey and Tristan had been in this class as well. Rebecca was also included to the students of Ravenclaw. Once they got to the yard, dressed in their uniforms plus the protective equipment for the flying lessons, they saw several broomsticks lieing on the ground in two lines. They took their positions next to the brooms (Yami had Yugi to his right side, Joey to his left while Joey had Tristan left of him). His heart started bounding in his chest in enthusiasm when he saw their teacher marching her way through the yard and among the broomsticks. Madam Rolanda Hooch was a sturdy woman with spiky, short gray hair and eyes yellow like a hawk. She had something dynamic on her, something Yami couldn't put his finger on.

"Good afternoon, class!" she said in an authoritative voice while marching.

"Good afternoon madam Hooch" the class answered almost in union.

She stopped to take a look at her students and smiled warmheartedly.

"Welcome to your first flying lesson! It took us a while this year"

This caused a few giggles to her audience.

"Now, let us not lose time. I want you all to step up to the left side of your broom"

When the kids did so, she continued.

"Stick your right hand over your broom"

Yami did so, wondering what was about to happen. Were they going to do magic? But they weren't allowed to bring their wands along (or any other pointy thing) to their flying lesson to avoid the risk of someone getting hurt, so now how were they going to perform any kind of spell without it?

"Good" their teacher encouraged, "Now say UP"

"UP!" most of students said together.

Yami was one of those students. Once he half-yelled the order, the broomstick zoomed right into his hand and he barely had time to close his fingers around it.

"Wicked!" he whispered surprised even with himself

Many other kids had managed to make their broomsticks "listen" to them but some others were still trying. For the first time saw irritation in Rebecca's eyes (well at least THAT much of an irritation) because her broomstick wasn't doing her favor to listen to her order and it took her at least three times before the broomstick would fly to her hand. Yugi next to him wasn't doing much better.

"Up…up…" he was saying weakly in his thin, little voice but the broomstick barely raised itself a couple of millimeters off the ground before sitting back down

The commands could be heard from everywhere while madam Hooch would encourage them saying "Come on!" or "With feel!".

"Up!" finally Yugi said and the broomstick rushed into his small hand (nearly throwing him to the ground in the process due to its power)

On his left side, Joey had started getting impatient.

"Damn you!" he cursed irritated, "UP!"

However the last command thrown angrily made the broomstick raise so fast that it hit him on the nose making him moan a little. Yami couldn't hold back his giggle.

"Oh, shut up, Yami!" Joey snapped at him with no real malice, though

Now that all brooms were in place, in the students' hands, madam Hooch could continue her instructions.

"Good. Now I want each one of you to hold on his broomstick hard and mount it… Good. Try not to slide from the edge. Very good. Now at my whistle, I want you to kick on the ground hard. Hover for a moment and then lean forward to land back down"

That part went well, without anything unusual happen. Right after that madam Hooch made them do more exercises in order to get familiar with the idea of flying. After the hovering exercise came an exercise to learn how to turn their broomsticks to the right and then to the left, then make a small turn and then a full turn of three hundred sixty degrees slowly and methodically. All those exercises took place a few centimeters off the ground and not higher. It seemed like fun and Yami found it easy to follow. It was a strange and yet fascinating feeling to have the air blow on his face but at the same time not feeling his feet touching the ground. Even if he knew he was only half foot over the ground, he still felt his heart flattering in his chest from the flaming desire for the freedom the air was giving him now. It was as if the sky above was calling him.

At the end of the lesson all the students had to take their broomsticks and equipment back into the storehouse behind the school and then carefully remove their protective equipment and put it back to the shelves neatly in order. Yami was ready to leave and go back to Slytherin Common Room when he heard madam Hooch's voice calling him.

"Yami" she was waving at him from the doorstep, "Come here for a moment. I want to have a word with you!"

Yami gulped. What could she possibly want to talk to him about? She seemed serious. What had he done wrong this time? As far as he remembered he had done exactly what she had told him to during the class. Nevertheless he followed her. When she assured they were alone she looked at him and Yami found himself small and insignificant before her yellow eyes.

"Was that your first time on a broomstick?" she asked sincerely

"Y-Yes Ma'am!" Yami stammered not knowing what else to say

Her authoritative tone made him feel as if he had done something bad once more but then she proved him wrong when she said:

"It was quite remarkable control for your first time. Very good I must add."

"R-Really?"

She nodded.

"Tell me, young man, would you be interested in sacrificing…I don't know, two afternoons extra every week and joining the Quidditch team?"

Yami's eyes widened before he had time stopping himself.

"Join, what?"

"Oh, right, you're Muggle-born. You haven't heard about Quidditch before right?"

Yami shook his head negatively.

"It is our sport. Basically you play with balls while flying on your broomstick" she said with a playful smile in the end, "It is a tough one but I believe you can make it just fine."

She rubbed her chin in thought.

"Usually First Years do not join the teams but you…technically you are not a First Year in your age. I believe there will be no complication with you joining the team and the Slytherin players could use one more player in their team. I heard they were searching for one. What do you think?"

Yami seemed thoughtful however deep inside his heart was raising beats with every passing second. He wanted to do something, something he would be good at.

"A game…?" he asked, mostly talking to himself.

Then a smile lit on his face.

"Sure! Why not?"

"Great. Then I have to talk to John Wilson, the leader of the Quidditch team for you two to meet and he will explain to you the rules of the game. I will inform you about the extra flying lessons"

"Alright! Sure! Thank you madam Hooch! Thank you so much!" Yami said enthusiastically

"It was nothing. Off you go now"

And Yami did walk (or more accurately half-ran) away enthusiastically with only a few thoughts in his mind:

"Awesome! Fantastic! Neat! Cosmic! Wonderful! Splendid! Awesome!"

"Yami, that's wonderful!" Yugi exclaimed happily as they were walking down the corridors

"I know!" Yami replied half-proudly half-flying from joy, "Headmistress McGonagall gave her permission! And I am meeting with John Wilson in a couple of days!"

"Awesome! What will ya be playin' as?" Joey asked as he was also half-marching next to the enthusiastic brothers

"I don't know yet, but I'll figure something out in the way!"

"Joey and I would love to join too, once we become of age, that is! We're still too young to enter the teams! You're so lucky, Yami! I'm jealous!"

As they continued walking down the corridor Yami spotted a girl leaning against a wall talking lively to some other girls. She was wearing the colors of Hufflepuff to her chest. She seemed around his age, with short-cut, chocolate-brown hair and bright blue eyes. The girl, as if feeling his gaze upon her, raised her head from her conversation, smiled towards them and waved her hand at them. Yami stopped, feeling awkward for a second, then bowed his head in the Japanese way in a half-apologizing, half-greeting way and quickly walked away with the girly giggle echoing in his ears. It was then when he felt an elbow pocking in his arm. Hard.

"Heh? Cute girl huh?"

Yami felt a light color powdering his cheeks with the sudden attention Joey gave him and so he said in his defense:

"It's…it's not like that! It just…happened my eye fall on her that's all!"

"I think she liked you! Didn' ya see how she smiled at ya?"

"Sh-Shut up! I don't even know who she is!"

"I think her name is Tea Gardner" Tristan's voice made them all look at him in surprise

"What?" he asked defensively, "I heard that noisy brat, Rebecca talking about her. She said she was going to ask her for some notes from her."

"Why 'er of all people?!" Joey asked in surprise

"She's a Third Year. I guess Rebecca studies from now for the Third Year in her free time!"

Joey pointed his index finger towards his open mouth, pretending ready to make himself throw up (and causing Yugi and Yami to giggle).

"Anyway" Yugi said, "We better return to our Dorms before they get us locked down the dungeons"

Yugi, I AM locked in the dungeons! Yami would have answered, however his mood was so great that moment that this sick joke didn't even cross his mind.

"Yugi is right, guys. I got to study too. I have a feeling that my flying lessons will be more by tomorrow!" he said the last one with a playful smirk

"Damn lucky bastard you are!" Joey said playfully

"And now you sound like Keith, Joey!" Yami called over his shoulder, already marching dozens of feet away from them towards Slytherin dormitory.

His good mood didn't worsen not even when he entered the room to go to bed, to face the giggle from Namu's and Marik's gang. As if some invisible pair of ear plunks had been worn into his ears and an invisible, protective cloak had covered and shielded his soul, Yami went straight to bed, covering himself with the blanket but he was too excited to get any sleep at all. He remained lieing on his back with his arms under his head, staring at the bed's "sky", finding it impossible to stop smiling.

"Yami Muto, the Quidditch player!" he was mumbling from time to time.

The name and the "title" rang pleasantly to his ears and echoed proudly into his mind. He could imagine himself playing on his broomstick, absolutely free from anything, feeling the wind upon him and the crowds would cheer his name over and over into some ecstatic mood... His heart was increasing beat by just thinking about it, hammering against his ribs.

The thirteen-year-old teen was simply restless. Finally he would get to prove to everyone that he was not the weak, stupid boy that even his powers as a wizard visited him late. He would show to everyone the true meaning of the title of "King of Games" he won back in his country! Finally, in the middle of the night, a little before dawn, sleep took over him and filled his head with dreams, and finally pleasant ones. No more Shorting Hat screaming "Slytherin", no more laughter around him, no more dreams of him failing because of his lack of skill, but this time his dreams were full of triumph, glory and happiness and tons of cheers that were saying his name rhythmically in perfect coordination:

"Yami! Yami! Yami! Yami! Yami!"…

Finally I got the chance to update this story! It took me long enough I guess. Sorry everyone.

First I want to say this chapter is dedicated to UlimatePokemonNfan (DA) and also I wanted to update this for GuardianOfCliffton's (DA) birthday.

Yup. Here's another boring day at Hogwarts... The good parts start soon, I promise.
For the flying lesson thing I had mixed feelings. The first idea was for me to make Yami rescuing Yugi from a near-accident with his broom, guiding him safely to the ground and then being noticed by Madam Hooch. However then I changed my mind because I thought it was too cliche of a scene and I didn't want to make it like copy-paste with the Harry Potter movie so I kept it simple.

Poor Yami never heard so many cursing words in Japan. Attending to Keith's classes will be difficult! And now we see that Yami has a small talent for flying with a broom. Let's see if he's gonna make it as a Quidditch player. Also more people appear in this place! Soon you'll see more of our basic characters and even more new characters are coming! Stay tooned!
