Chapter 11
Can He Fix It?
School was a long day that day. There was a thick awkwardness in the air, even before they left. They of course had to get dressed and eat before leaving and that's when it hit the air. No eye contact, no talking. Complete silence between the two saiyans. Goku's nature of course was the kind that wanted to fix it but Vegeta being a stubborn prince did nothing to help. Vegeta even more of a distance in class, as if there wasn't any already. Goku could feel the awkwardness Vegeta felt. He tried not to bring it up, hoping it would just pass by.
"Hey dad, you alright?" Gohan whispered. Goku jumped a little, waking from a sleepy gaze he held to the blackboard in the front of class. Goku looked over at Gohan, concern on his face. Goku quickly smiled.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" Goku said convincingly, but feeling a little hurt. He then turned back to board, and faked his full attention to the board.
'Is this supposed to be a good thing, that we slept together? We didn't exactly do anything bad, just slept and kissed...and that's about it. I mean, I sure liked it but Vegeta, I'm not so sure how he feels.' Goku thought. He closed his eyes and felt out Vegeta's chi. It felt stiff, somehow. It didn't feel as strong as usual. He opened his eyes and tried to take a peek out of the corner of his eye and just his luck, eye contact. Goku immediately focused back to the front of the class. Geez, he was never this awkward around Vegeta. Is this what it feels like when those the TV says "morning after awkwardness? I mean, it is the morning after, and it is awkward. He was probably right, right?
Goku tried as he might to keep Vegeta out of his head and continue working with school.
RIIIIING
Goku stood up, waiting for Gohan.
"So is Goten free today?" Goku immediately asked.
'Calm down, Goku. Keep calm.' Gokue thought to himself. He smiled, trying to keep his composure.
"Uh yeah, he's free. You want to visit today?" Gohan asked. Goku's body froze a bit, goosebumps rising all over his skin when he sensed Vegeta walked behind him, out of class. Gohan watched Vegeta, his eyes focusing past Goku, then back at Goku, "Dad?"
Goku unfroze.
"Uh yeah! I'd like to visit if that's alright with you." Goku responded. Gohan looked a bit curious.
"Alright, uh, let's go." Gohan said, slinging his backpack over his back. He gave Videl a smile as he led Goku towards the door.
"You still up for this weekend?" Gohan asked.
"Uh..yeah!" Videl said confidently despite her rosy cheeks. The two saiyans then left, and like usual, took to the sky to Gohan's.
"So? You going to tell me what's up with you and Vegeta?" Gohan said. Goku looked at him with surprise.
"W-what are you talking about?" Goku said laughed nervously. Gohan narrowed his eyes.
"Dad, I'm not stupid. I know something's going on between you two." Gohan said, "Vegeta makes himself seem 'too cool for friends' but to be honest, you're probably his best friend. It's easy to tell when he's acting more distant than he already is."
Busted.
"Huh?" Goku idiotically tried to jump from the situation again. Gohan sighed.
"Dad, just tell me what's wrong with you and Vegeta." Gohan said. Well there was no use in trying to get out of this now.
"Well...something a bit awkward happened..." Goku said, a bit embarrassed. Gohan raised a brow.
"Go on..." Gohan urged his father. Goku sighed deeply.
"Well something awkward that...may or may not have been in my control, and now Vegeta feels a bit uneasy around me...I think. I don't really know how he feels, he won't talk to me let alone really look at me much." Goku said. Gohan was a bit surprised.
"Oh, well why don't you talk to him about it?" Gohan asked.
"It's not that simple, I feel a bit bad about it too. I can't really bring myself to face him." Goku said quietly. Gohan nodded in disapproval.
"Dad, to fix this you're going to have to really admit you did something wrong and apologize." Gohan said.
"What did I do?" Goku cried.
"I...I don't know, I wasn't there, but you I'll tell you something, I'm kinda clueless to what I do wrong with Videl when she gets mad at me." Gohan said reassuringly.
"Does it ever work for you?" Goku asked. Gohan looked at him blankly.
"Sometimes..." Gohan laughed. Goku couldn't help but to laugh with him.
"By the way, what did you do." Gohan asked. Goku stopped laughing and immediately became flustered.
"Oh. About that..." Goku laughed nervously. Gohan eyed his father suspiciously, "It wasn't anything...that bad."
"Or you can just not tell me!" Gohan said with a smile. Goku could feel himself relax a little more now. He felt ready to confront Vegeta about what just happened, and to make things right.
Goku entered Capsule Corp. It was silent, but lights were on. Guess Vegeta was home, but just slacking off again as usual. Probably in their room. Goku made his way down the hall to their closed room. Taking a deep breath in, he opened the door to see Vegeta sleeping already. Goku looked at their clock. It was 5:30 PM. It wasn't that late, and it wasn't even a hard day at school. Maybe he didn't want to talk to him.
Goku exhaled. He approached Vegeta's bed and peered over to see his face. He smiled a little at the way Vegeta's usual scowl wasn't on him. He had a calm face when he slept, and it was pretty cute.
Cute. Goku shook his head and quickly backed away from him. Go to sleep! Focus on what you're going to do to get back on his good side! Goku walked to his bed and lay down. He shut his eyes, trying to fall asleep but try as he might, he knew he wouldn't be able to right away.
. . . . .
Vegeta opened his eyes. It was late, the room was now dark. He sat up but his head throbbed, and groaned quietly as the pain worsened. He looked around the room, his eyes landing on the electric clock. 10:35. It was late, he probably wouldn't be able to fall back asleep, at least not right away. He sighed, and quickly stopped short when he realized he wasn't alone anymore. He looked over to the other side of the room, although hard to see, he could make out Goku sleeping snugly in his own bed. He was still wearing his school clothes. Was he so tired that he went to sleep without changing.
'Kakarot.' He quickly looked away and shut his eyes, 'What is wrong with this saiyan.'
Almost as if on cue, Goku moaned quietly and turned over in his bed. Vegeta couldn't help but to shoot another look over and to his surprise, Goku was now facing him. How was he going to sleep now, Goku was now facing him! Vegeta quickly pulled the covers over himself and turned his back to Goku, but this did nothing for him. He still knew that Goku was facing him. Well talk about awkward. Vegeta threw the covers off of himself. He wouldn't be able to sleep if he felt like he was being watched.
He approached his roommate's bed, now standing inches from a sleeping Goku. What was he even thinking of doing? He can't just roll him over, he would run the risk of waking Goku up, but he can't very well just let him sleep like this. Vegeta stood there silently for a bit, staring down at Goku. This would look a bit weird from hindsight huh? Vegeta then shook his head in disappointment. He was strange alright. He quickly walked to his bed and grabbed his blanket. He walked back to Goku and threw it over him, covering all of him.
'Well...this will suffice.' he thought, walking back to his bed. He lay back in bed on, hands behind his head.
This was going to be a cold night.
. . . . .
Goku quickly sat up in bed. He hated those falling sensation dreams. He groaned as he rubbed his head. He looked over to Vegeta's side, but like usual, Vegeta was already gone. Goku sighed and got out of bed, but then he smelled something different. His blanket? Wait, he didn't sleep with a blanket last night did he. Could if have been...no, probably not. Goku shook the idea out of his head prepared himself for school.
'Guess this is going to have to wait.' Goku thought as he finally stepped out of his room, showered and changed. Like usual, Vegeta left for school long before he himself did. Goku stepped out of Capsule Corp and looked up at the bright orange morning sky.
"I'll fix this today." Goku told himself, and with that, he took to the sky.
. . . . .
Vegeta stared blankly at the blackboard at the front of the class. The teacher wrote down some equations as she spoke.
"Now I want you to all answer these question on a sheet of notebook paper and turn it in to me at the end of the class. This will be on your final exam so be sure to understand it and ask if you need help." she said in her nasally voice. Vegeta watched as the students, including Goku and Gohan, quickly wrote the questions down and began working on them.
"Oh...!" a voice next to him groaned. Vegeta looked over to his right at a young cute girl around Gohan's age. Flawless white skin with copper hair and green eyes. She quickly erased her paper and began writing anew.
'Idiot.' Vegeta thought to himself. Of course Vegeta would think she was an idiot, he thought everyone was below him.
"Hey cutie, you know how to do these?" the girl chirped quietly. Vegeta looked over at her in annoyance.
"No clue." Vegeta replied simply. She pouted.
"You sure?" she asked with a smile as she leaned in towards him.
"Positive." Vegeta said and turned back to his own paper. The girl kept her pout and turned back to her paper. She sighed and began tapping her pencil on the paper as she began thinking again. Vegeta's eyes fell on her again.
"Will you stop?" Vegeta said quietly. The girl looked over at him and nodded.
"Yeah, sure." she said. After almost a whole minute of silence, there was a faint sound. It wasn't easy to tell what it was, but it's pretty annoying. Vegeta immediately looked over at the girl and to no surprise, it was her. The girl had her pencil between her teeth, chewing on it gently. She quickly stopped and slowly looked over at Vegeta.
"Oh...sorry!" she whispered, smiling sheepishly. With that, she pulled out a pencil bag and exchanged her pencil with a pen. Vegeta shook his head in disbelief. Was there someone almost, if not more, annoying than Goku? Vegeta looked up at Goku, who was actually working with Gohan, the two whispered back and forth. Goku laughed quietly. Vegeta quickly looked away. That was too long of a stare, at least for him.

Vegeta clenched his fist. He was just about done with this girl.
. . . . .
Before he realized it, Goku leaped out of his seat and ran to the back of the room. All Goku remembers from that moment was running one second and the next being in front of Vegeta, grabbing Vegeta's hands in his own in a tight hold.
"Kakarot, what the hell!" Vegeta said loudly, bringing even more attention to his direction, as if there wasn't much already. Goku glared down at Vegeta.
"You were gonna chi blast, I sensed it." Goku whispered sternly. Vegeta's eyes widened. Guilty as charged, but it wasn't his fault! Vegeta glared at the girl next to him, who had her shocked gaze on Goku.
"Wasn't my fault, Kakarot! She was getting on my last nerve!" Vegeta said a bit louder. Goku looked over at the girl, immediately feeling self-conscious when he caught the girl next to Vegeta looking at him, mouth gaped in shock.
"Are you guys, like, a thing?" she whispered with a bit of a smile, breaking the awkward silence in the room.
"A thing?" Goku asked.
"Goku, what are you doing up there?" a familiar nasaly voice called. Goku peeked over his shoulder to see the teacher watching him impatiently from behind her desk. She wasn't the only one watching him. All the other students had their eyes in Goku's direction. Oh boy.
"Uhm...just uh, helping Vegeta not do something stupid." Goku said. Hey, there was some truth in it, right? Goku smiled shyly and the teacher shook her in disappointment.
"Back to your seat, Goku." the teacher said. Goku looked back at Vegeta angrily who reflected the same expression. How could he? The girl was in trouble if he left Vegeta, heck, he just saved her life!
"Well?" Vegeta said.
"Vegeta, don't do anything stupid." Goku told Vegeta, a bit nervous.
"You don't tell me what to do, Kakarot!" Vegeta said loudly.
"Kakarot?" someone whispered from across the room.
"Is that a new swear?" someone else whispered.
"Goku, I will not ask you again!" the teacher said sternly.
"Unhand me, Kakarot!" Vegeta said angrily. Goku kept himself in place.
RIIIIING
The dismissal bell rang, and quickly, students rose from their seat and began leaving. The girl next to Vegeta bounced upward from her seat.
"See ya tomorrow, Vegeta!" she chirped, and skipped out of the room. Goku felt some relief knowing the source of Vegeta's annoyance was now gone. He then let go of Vegeta and walked back to his seat, where Gohan waited.
"Dad, that was pretty close. Good job!" Gohan whispered. Goku smiled. Goku looked back at Vegeta who still sat in his seat. He looked a bit defeated but something else lingered. As Goku and Gohan approached the door, the teacher hurried behind them.
"No Goku, you're not leaving quite yet!" the teacher said. Goku looked back.
"Huh?! Why?" Goku cried. She put her hands on her hips.
"You caused a disruption in my class and I do not take that lightly. You are in High School, dear. You need to act like it." she said. She then looked over at Vegeta, "And whatever problem you have with Vegeta will be resolved right here, right now."
"What?" Vegeta said, confused.
"You and Vegeta are staying after school for detention." the teacher said. Detention? After school? He just saved someone from Vegeta!
"Why am I staying?" Vegeta asked angrily, headed to the front of the class.
"Well obviously you and Goku have some sort of issue that I want you to resolve. I don't want my class to be further disrupted after today." the teacher said, "Not both of, take a seat in the front."
Gohan gave his father a wave goodbye and left the class. Goku and Vegeta both took front seats, Goku sitting down next to Vegeta. The teacher sat down at her desk, eyeing them both.
"Now, shall we begin?" she said rather than asked.
"Well I was just stopping Vegeta before he seriously hurt someone." Goku said, giving Vegeta a quick glare. Well, they were on worse terms now than they were before today. How was going to fix it now?
"What! I wasn't going to hurt anyone!" Vegeta said angrily.
"I sensed it!" Goku said. The teacher scratched her head in confusion.
"Sensed it? Like, a sixth sense?" she asked.
"No, I sensed his chi." Goku told her.
"Chi?" the teacher was even more confused now. Before she could say more, the intercom sounded.
"Excuse me, Miss Hamilton?" a male's static voice sounded in the room.
"Yes?" the teacher responded.
"Would you please come down to the office? We're going to have a brief meeting here." the man said.
"Sure, I'll be there in a bit." the teacher responded. She then looked over at the two young teens before her.
"You two behave." she said, "I'm going to be out of the room for a bit, I'll be right back."
With that said, she quickly gathered up some items and walked out of the room, closing it behind her. A stiff silence filled the room. Goku quickly glanced over at Vegeta.
"Sorry for getting you in trouble, Vegeta." Goku said quietly. Vegeta didn't respond. His eyes were set on the blackboard, chin resting in his palm. He looked so concentrated.
'Now's your chance to talk to him! Do it!' Goku thought, but he couldn't move. Hesitation kept him tied down. He had to do it, now was the best time to. The teacher is out! Do it!
Goku couldn't even bring himself to look over at Vegeta again. A minute passed. Then two. Then five, and Vegeta let out a heavy sigh.
"Well this is a waste of my time." Vegeta said angrily. He stood up and walked over to the door. NO!
"Wait, Vegeta!" Goku said as he quickly shot out of his seat. Vegeta looked back at him.
"What?" Vegeta responded. Well?
"Uh...you can't leave. The teacher said you had to stay." Goku said. Vegeta nodded in disappointment.
"Kakarot, I thought you were a saiyan. Doing as a mere earthling demands of you. Pathetic." Vegeta said. He then turned back to the door, reaching for the knob.
"Wait, Vegeta!" Goku said, running towards Vegeta.
"Kakarot, what the hell do you want!" Vegeta yelled. Goku froze, "I'm getting pretty damn annoyed by you lately."
"Why?" Goku asked, feeling a bit confused.
"You're just annoying Kakarot, and that's all you've ever been since I've met you." Vegeta said. The words stung Goku. Annoying? Since they met? He's been nothing but friendly to Vegeta. What did he do wrong?
"But...I've just tried to be your friend." Goku said.
"Well maybe you shouldn't." Vegeta said and with that, he turned his back to Goku, again trying to leave the room.
Without noticing, Goku felt himself rushing to Vegeta and grabbed the back of his shirt.
"Wait..." Goku said quietly.
"Kakarot what the hell are you doing?" Vegeta yelled.
"Wait Vegeta..." Goku said quietly. Vegeta looked down at him and tried to pull away but Goku's grip tightened. Vegeta was going to hear him out, whether he liked it or not.
"Please...I don't know what I did wrong to make you hate me, but I don't want you to hate me." Goku said. Vegeta stood still, still facing the door.
"I don't want you to stay this way. I want to be your friend." Goku continued, "If you can just tell me what I do that keeps you feeling that way...maybe I can stop and we can be friends."
"This isn't about you changing, Kakarot. This is about you being a nuisance. That fact cannot change Kakarot and you're going to have to stay away from me so that I can go on with my life." Vegeta said. Those words felt like knives. One more time, Vegeta reached for the door.
"Vegeta." Goku said, grabbing on the Vegeta even tighter, "Please. I want to be your friend. I want you to be part of my life."
Vegeta stood silent.
"Even since we've been changed, you're all that I really have left. Chi-Chi and I have never really had something there, it got even worse with the wish. Gohan and Goten are there of course, and I can't really be a father if I'm practically their age and since they have their own things going on too. Everyone else, including Bulma, are busy with their own lives. I only really have you and I can't afford to lose you." Goku said, "Please don't throw away what I call our friendship."
Goku stood silent as he clung to Vegeta.
"Kakarot, is that why you care for our so called 'friendship' so much." Vegeta asked, "Because I'm all you have?"
"Well, yeah, sort of." Goku replied. Vegeta turned around and faced Goku. Quickly before could realized it, Vegeta had grabbed him by the collar and their lips met in a passionate kiss. Goku's heart skipped a beat. He couldn't move, he was in complete shock. Was this happening?! He felt Vegeta's warm hands cupping his face, they were so warm Goku could feel himself melt. Then to his diappointment, Vegeta stopped and let go of Goku.
Goku's eye set on Vegeta still in shock. Vegeta seemed calm about what he just did, of course he was the one doing it, but there's still the question of why.
"Vegeta..." Goku said quietly, unable to say more. He was at a loss of words. Here he thought Vegeta hated him, and Vegeta just throws this at him.
"Kakarot, why is it that you have to be so annoying." Vegeta said. Goku remained quiet.
"You're so annoying, and yet, I can't bring myself to hate you, Kakarot." Vegeta continued. He just read his mind, didn't he?
"You don't hate me?" Goku asked.
"Don't get me wrong, Kakarot. You really are annoying as hell, you always get on my last nerve, but I don't hate you." Vegeta said.
"What are you saying?" Goku said, a bit confused. Vegeta sighed.
"Forget it Kakarot. I think I'm going to bail now if you don't mind." Vegeta said. Goku quickly grabbed him again, and this time, he was in control. He pulled Vegeta towards him and slammed him against the wall. Oops.
"Ow, Kakarot! What the he-" Goku shut Vegeta up with his own lips.
"Vegeta, how do you expect to leave me after doing that?" Goku asked. Vegeta was the confused one now. Goku felt himself smirk. Being in control was a bit fun.
"I've been wanting to do this for a while now." Goku said quietly, and then pulled Vegeta into another passionate kiss. He held himself against Vegeta, feeling his body heat on his own. His hands combed through Vegeta's hair, grabbing it tightly. He pulled it back, Vegeta gasped quietly.
"Kakarot, what the hell..." Vegeta said quietly.
"Oh, just a little revenge...you've been kinda cold these past few days." Goku said with a smile. He held Vegeta strongly against the wall, securing him down. Goku stroked his tongue up Vegeta's neck. He could feel Vegeta's racing pulse against his skin, and now goosebumps rising. He smiled, pleased, but of course this wasn't enough for someone with saiyan blood pumping through their veins. Saiyans are animals after all, figuratively and literally speaking.
Goku then dug his teeth into Vegeta's neck, Vegeta groaned quietly. Goku gently pulled at Vegeta's neck, probably going to leave a bruise tonight.
"So...you said you didn't hate me? Do you still not hate me?" Goku said with a pleased smile on his face.
"Shutup Kakarot..." Vegeta said quietly.
"I'll take that as a no." Goku responded. He released Vegeta's hair. Vegeta glared at him.
"What?" Goku asked innocently.

The sound of repetitive clicking sounded in the hallway. It sounded familiar.
Wait.
Miss Hamilton.
. . . . . .
"Boys, this detention might have to be rescheduled." the teacher said as she entered the room. To her surprise, Goku and Vegeta were both still sitting in their seats, talking quietly. She smiled, "Unless you two have resolved things."
"Yeah, we have." Goku said calmly with a smile.
"Alright, you're free to go." the teacher said, gesturing to the door. Goku stood up and walked over to the door.
"Hey Vegeta, you coming?" Goku asked with a smirk. Vegeta felt himself flush.
"Yeah..." Vegeta said quietly. He stood up and walked to the door as well. The two then walked out of class.
The teacher walked over to her desk and sat down.
"I wonder how those two fixed things." she wondered.
