Chapter 12
I Must Be Dreaming
Footsteps thudded against the pavement outside Capsule Corp as the two young saiyans walked back to their home. Goku trailed a few feet behind Vegeta, not a word was spoken.
'What. Just. Happened?' Goku thought to himself. He and Vegeta quickly made their way home after their after school detention. Bulma would be the typical mother hen and ask them where they've been, but then again, they are technically adults that definitely do not need a mother to look after them.
Goku heard the door open and looked up, watching Vegeta walk inside, leaving the door wide open for him. Vegeta disappeared into the darkness of the house. Goku stood outside for a minute, he felt some uneasiness take over him as he went inside and closed the door behind him. Maybe because he's experienced something like this before, feeling confident one minute, then feeling completely shot down the next. He wasn't ready for what would happen soon, especially after detention.
Goku took a step into the direction his room, but quickly turned right towards the kitchen instead. Instead of following the other saiyan into their shared room, he decided to wait up a bit in the safety of the kitchen. He sighed heavily.
"I'm such a coward..." Goku said to himself quietly as he stepped into the dark kitchen. Goku flicked the light switch on and the room brightened to a dull orange. He felt uneasy and anxious and scared, and just a whirlwind of emotions take over him. Still not being able to comprehend what
happened earlier. It was all so unreal to him, and yet he was completely sure it happened not an hour ago. Goku could still feel the deep thumping of his racing heart. With his back against the wall, he took a deep breath and tried to relax.
If it happened, Vegeta must be feeling some type of way too, right? Goku's eyes widened at realizing this. He should probably find out if he made their awkward distance even wider. Goku covered his face in shame.
'I hope things aren't worse because of this...' Goku thought. Something still gave him hope, the fact that Vegeta didn't even shove him once. If you really think about it, Vegeta is more than capable than more than even a simple shove, hell, he can blow up the whole planet if he wanted to, but not once did he feel Vegeta shove him away from him.
'He can't completely hate me, right? He doesn't hate me...' Goku thought to himself.
Goku groaned and he grabbed his own hair angrily in frustration. This was driving him crazy! He had to know!
Taking a deep breath, he pulled himself away from the wall. Walking towards his room, his heart began thumping crazily again. He stopped in front of his bedroom door. Nervous and uneasy again, as always, Vegeta was the one to cause this to him.
"Control yourself...you're over thinking things!" Goku said quietly to himself as he covered his chest and felt the thumping. He opened the door.
.
.
.
Vegeta entered Capsule Corp and quickly left Goku at the front, heading to his shared room.
Entering the darkened room, he walks over to his bed and sits down.
"..."
"Dammit Kakarot, why do you always manage to pull this kind of stuff over me." Vegeta said quietly. He stared angrily at Goku's messy side of the room, sheets undone, pillow on the ground, pieces of clothing scattered all over the room. Lazy and disorganized as always. Vegeta couldn't bring himself to stay angry at the saiyan although he wanted to.
'He's always overpowered me and left me with a confused and blank expression. I can never get a word of anything out." Vegeta said angrily to himself. That damn lower class. In any way possible, he's always beaten or overpowered me, always a step ahead of me, when it came to power most especially, he's always beating me and leaving me like a dumbfounded fool.
And yet.
And yet, I don't completely hate the idiot. I mean, I can easily hold dislike to anyone, hell at one point I held dislike to even Nappa years ago, but I can't hold dislike for this one!"
Vegeta shook the thought out of his head and looked down at his feet.
"Dammit Kakarot." Vegeta said quietly.
'Get out of my head.'
.
.
.
Goku could see Vegeta sitting in his bed, his head lowered and eyes to the ground.
"H-hey Vegeta." Goku said stuttered nervously. No response.
"I uh...well, where do I start..." Goku said, actually wondering why he didn't think of anything to say first. Idiot.
"Well uh, at school. Something happened." Goku started, "While we were in detention. And the teacher left."
Goku could feel his hands become clammy as he got more nervous by the second.
"I-I just want to know your uh, thoughts on that." Goku said, keeping his eyes down on his feet now. No response. The silence felt painful to him.
"Vegeta?" Goku said quietly. He walked towards Vegeta but stopped halfway into the room, "Vegeta?"
Vegeta kept his eyes glued to the ground. Goku walked up to Vegeta and looked down at him.
"Vegeta, answer me please." Goku said. Vegeta remained silent.
"Vegeta!" Goku said a bit louder, Vegeta quickly glared up at him.
"Will you shutup? I'm thinking!" Vegeta yelled angrily. Goku was surprised by this outburst.
"About what?" Goku dared to ask.
"Just shut it, Kakarot!" Vegeta yelled even louder, Vegeta then stared off into a direction that Goku was not in. His eyes focused, he really did look deep into thought, and this was somewhat frightening.
"I won't until you answer my question!" Goku yelled, surprising himself by how angry he felt. I mean, come on! What is his problem? Why was he being so rude, especially after, well, y'know!
Vegeta got up and walked away from Goku towards the door, Goku following behind, calling for him.
"Wait, Vege-!" Goku cut off by feeling himself crash on his backward into something hard, cold and flat, the wall of course. Pain shot up his back, his eyes shut as he tried to bear it.
"Ow!" Goku said quietly. He opened his eyes and shock to see Vegeta before him, even more shocked to see Vegeta holding him against the wall, his own shirt was balled into Vegeta's hand. Vegeta held his angry gaze at Goku. This was it, Goku just about had it with all these ridiculous mind games that Vegeta was playing. He was not tolerating this any further.
"Vegeta, what is your problem" Goku yelled angrily, "First you confuse me with your probably fake feelings, then you're a jerk, well no, scratch that, you are a jerk all the time, but then you decide to ignore me! Then I don't even know what's going through your head-"
The two saiyans' lips met in a hard kiss. Vegeta pulled away as quickly as he initiated. He quickly looked away from the confused saiyan. Goku could feel his brain just give up.
"Vegeta...what is your deal?" Goku yelled. Vegeta looked up surprised, "One second you're yelling at me and making me think you hate me, and now this! I'm really confused right now!"
"I just, uh, wanted to clear something." Vegeta said.
"W-what?" Goku stammered. Vegeta paused for a second, but looked up at Goku.
"I was checking if I liked it. I mean, liked you." Vegeta said a bit flustered.
"By kissing me?" Goku asked suspiciously. Vegeta nodded, keeping his gaze away from Goku. Goku blinked in disbelief, "Wait, so you were experimenting with me?"
Goku pushed Vegeta away, shocking both Vegeta and himself.
"I-I rather not be used like that!" Goku yelled, hinting some anger and hurt in his shaky voice. He quickly began making his way to the door, fighting back tears. Goku could feel some tightness in his chest. Was this heartbreak? The kind that the Earthlings' TV dramatize among young teens? If Vegeta was going to use him to straighten things out in his own damn confused mind, then he can stay confused for the rest of his life. Goku wasn't going to take part of his experimenting. He wasn't a genie pig for Kami sake!
Goku was reached the hallway, ready to run somewhere far from this house, when he suddenly felt himself tugged by his arm right back into the room. He was quickly pulled right into Vegeta's arms, not quite a hug we would want rather one telling him to stay put. Goku felt warmth from Vegeta's body, it was such a calming sensation before, yes, before, and so he quickly tried to pull himself away. Vegeta overpowered him, holding him tight and not letting him get away.
"Vegeta, let go!" Goku said firmly, trying to keep his cool. Vegeta stayed silent and held Goku tightly. As much as he liked Vegeta's touch in the past, it did not excite him any further, Goku couldn't bear it right now, not after being used the way he just was by Vegeta. He felt ill just from fact that he was used.
"Goku." Vegeta said. Goku froze. Did he just say that? Did he really just say that? Goku tried looking up at him, but Vegeta's awkward hug-hold didn't allow much maneuvering for him. All Goku could do was feel Vegeta's thumping heart from his chest pressed against his back. They stayed this way for a while until Vegeta finally sighed quietly. He let go of Goku, and faced him. Goku looked away from Vegeta.
"Vegeta, I still don't know what's going on in your head." Goku said quietly. He felt embarrassed as he couldn't make eye contact with Vegeta this time.
"Do you want to know then?" Vegeta asked quietly. Goku looked at Vegeta, locking eyes he felt his whole body freeze still, and yet his face flushed and hot. Vegeta looked right back at Goku, his black eyes stunned Goku almost like paralysis. Vegeta's hands made their way to Goku's cheeks, cupping Goku's face in his hands and bringing Goku close to him. Goku's heart was thumping wildly, he was feeling faint.
Their lips met in a gentle kiss. Goku felt relaxed, he melted completely at his mere touch. He felt himself thud against the cold wall of their bedroom, it hurt a bit, but nothing really mattered right now. Nothing mattered at this moment.
"Vegeta..." Goku said quietly as he puled himself away for a bit, but Vegeta pulled him back. Somehow, this didn't feel real to him. Vegeta didn't seem like Vegeta to him. Goku couldn't help but get the feeling that he would soon wake up from a dream, wake up alone on his side of the room, far from a cold shouldering Vegeta. Their lips brushing again, Goku's hands touched Vegeta's chest, slowly brushing their way up to his neck and pulling him close.
'If it's a dream, I should at least enjoy it.' Goku thought to himself, but he knew he wouldn't. With his right hand cupping Vegeta's neck, he dared to do so, and pinched Vegeta's neck.
"Ouch! Kakarot, what are you doing?" Vegeta said, quickly pulling away from Goku, rubbing his neck. He looked up in shock at the other saiyan. Goku stared innocently at Vegeta, then at his hand.
"Oh, okay, so this is real life!" Goku said happily, grinning at Vegeta. Vegeta frowned. Now he got it.
"You as the Earthling should know this, but you're supposed to pinch yourself, not someone else." Vegeta said, turning away from Goku. Killing the mood, Goku realized what just happened. Yes, it was real life, but he just ruined a moment.
"Oh, that's right!" Goku chuckled, "Sorry!"
Vegeta groaned as he rubbed his neck again. He couldn't have pinched that hard, could he? Then again, we usually don't hold back against each other. That may have been a really good pinch. Goku chuckled quietly, but as quiet as he was, Vegeta managed to hear the other saiyan.
"What? Is that funny to you?" Vegeta demanded to know. Goku kept smiling and nodded.
"It's funny to see you're the one in pain now." Goku said with a devious grin. Vegeta glared at him.
"Whatever, I'm hitting the gravity room." Vegeta said. With that, he took a towel from the bathroom and threw it on his shoulder as he headed out the door. Goku watched the whole time, mesmerized by his saiyan friend. Vegeta paused at the doorway, giving Goku a long, hard stare.
"W-what?" Goku stammered nervously. Vegeta smirked at a pokerfaced Goku, and continued out the door. Goku quickly looked away, blushing uncontrollably, turning his back to the door. Just a few minutes ago, they were kissing. Why this now? Goku looked back at the doorway, no one. He sighed. Goku looked down at his hands and touched his left arm with his right hand, and pinched hard.
"Ow!" Goku cried out. He really did have quite the powerful pinch. He rubbed his arm and smiled slightly.
'At least it's not a dream.' Goku thought happily.
