Me-Hey, you guys! I'm sorry that I haven't been able to update in such a looooooooooooong time!
Usui-Hi, Senpai.
Me-Technically, you're older than me.
Usui-Too bad. :p
Me-O...Okay?
Misaki-What's on the schedule for today?
Aoi-You sound pretty professional.
Misaki-Shut up!
Me-Well...to answer your question, this chapter focuses solely around Usui and Marlene. They are having lunch at Le Francais.
Marlene-Really now?
Me-Oui, madame~!
Aoi-NightcoreAddictXx (or the hag) does not own Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama. :/
Me-I heard that! *begins to fume*
Usui-Read on. By the way, what NAXx-senpai meant to say earlier is that for this part of the chapter is told before I meet up with Marlene in front of the company building.
Me-Anywho! Thanks for reading that small bit by Usui and please read onward.
Normal POV
Marlene looked at Usui as he finished brewing a cup of coffee with the hotel's coffeemaker.
"Honey, I'm going to head off without you." she said.
Usui felt himself cringe at the word honey. He didn't like how it rolled off of Marlene's tongue. It just...didn't seem right to him. It didn't make his heart race or make his face turn red.
"Honey! I'm going to be heading off without you!" Misaki's voice floated through his mind, making him close his emerald green eyes for a brief moment.
He loved Misaki's voice. It was as sweet as honey and it made him feel fluttery, which seemed weird for a man like him. Men aren't supposed to feel butterflies in their stomach or have flowers of moe floating around them every time they see the woman they love. However, it seemed to be that Usui Takumi had proved them wrong.
"Usui!"
Said man's eyes shot open at the sound of Marlene's voice piercing through his thoughts of her doppelganger, Misaki. He glanced over at Marlene heading over to the door with a coffee cup filled with what might've been hazelnut vanilla coffee. Hazel eyes looked at him with slight worry in them.
"I'm going to meet Ayu. Come get me in about an hour." she said before stepping out of the hotel room.
Once the door closed, Usui let out a sigh. He made his way over to the table and he sat down whilst sipping on the coffee he had brewed. He twisted his face in disgust as he spat the coffee back into the cup.
"Uck...that coffee tastes like shit..." he grumbled as he pushed the cup away from him.
His stomach began to grumble, which upset him. He just had an omelette, two pancakes, and five biscuits for breakfast. It was a shock that he was still hungry.
"Huh...I can't believe I'm still hungry..." he thought to himself.
He got up from the chair and he scanned himself in a baggy white t-shirt that said, #yoloswag, in black block letters and blue, green, and black plaid pajama pants.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt if I go out for a little bit..." he made his way over to the room that was secluded from the kitchen and eating area. "Besides, I would be killing two birds with one stone if I go out to find food and pick up Marlene at the same time..." he thought to himself.
He headed into the room, pulled out some random clothes from his suitcase, and he went into the bathroom. He changed into the clothes and as he pulled out a black comb to comb his hair with, he noticed what he had thrown on.
He had on a red hoodie with a white tie under the hood, black jeans, and white Vans. He had a black and red striped fingerless glove on one hand and a black and white checkered wristband on the other.
"Oh gawd...Just what in the world is going on in my mind when I do these kinds of things...?" he asked himself.
"Misaki, duh. What else would make your heart feel like this?" this made Usui grit his teeth as he put the comb down onto the bathroom counter and he ran his fingers through his tousled blonde tresses.
He stepped out of the bathroom and he headed out of the hotel room. He took the elevator and he went down to the lobby. He stepped out and he headed out of the hotel building in search of a cab.
"Hmmm...maybe I should reserve a table at a restaurant..." he mumbled to himself quietly.
A distant memory came back to him as he began to think of possible restaurants he could reserve a table at.
"What the...? Why French?" a sixteen year old Misaki asked as she followed Usui up to the restaurant.
"A classmate suggested it. I like French food and I wanted to take somebody with me." Usui explained.
"Eh...But, why me?" Misaki asked, arching an eyebrow in confusion.
Usui stopped at the door for a second. He then turned to face her so he could answer her.
"Because you're someone special." he told her.
Usui couldn't help but smile softly at the memory.
"Ah...those were the old days..." he murmured quietly as he spotted a taxi. He waved it over and raced across the street to get into the taxi. Unknown to him, a woman had also waved over the exact same taxi.
As he got in, he collided with the woman who had also gotten in. He heard her gasp a little.
"Sorry..." she trailed off.
He noticed how she had glanced at him for a split second before going to dig through her tote bag. He closed the taxi door as the taxi driver began to speak.
"Where you two going?" he asked.
"I'm heading to Le Francais." he stated quickly, the name of the restaurant coming to his mind at that moment.
"And you, Miss?" the driver asked.
"I'm going to Hyoudou Fashion Incorporation. But, please hurry up. I need to meet my wedding client." the woman replied.
"Alright." the taxi driver replied with a nod and he drove off.
Usui glanced out the window. As he watched the scenery pass him by, he began to think about how strangely familiar that woman's voice sounded.
"That woman's voice...it seems so nostalgic in a way..." a possibility drifted into his mind. "Wait...it couldn't be...!" his eyes grew wide as a voice floated into his mind.
"Usui-kun!" Misaki's voice ran through his mind.
The woman's sudden gasp sliced through his thoughts and he glanced over to see her dig through her bag and pull out a hot pink comb. He eyed it curiously.
"Huh...? I feel like I know that comb..." he thought to himself.
He then watched as she applied some kind of lip balm onto her lips. As she pressed them together, the smell of what might've been amaretto coffee floated in the air.
"What kind of coffee do you have there?" he asked before he could stop himself.
He watched her glance at him from out of the corner of her eye. He swore that he saw a flash of hazel as she began to speak.
"Um...Amaretto, why?" she questioned in an uncertain voice.
"Ah..." Usui looked away. "I knew someone who loved amaretto coffee." he stated.
The taxi driver pulled up in front of a towering skyscraper that kind of startled Usui a little.
"Here's your stop, Miss." he told her.
"Oh, thanks." she got out of the taxi and she handed him about 315.84 ¥.
"Thanks, Miss." the taxi driver thanked her before driving off.
Usui turned his head to look at the girl, who was making her way over to the building.
"That girl...she reminds me so much of Misaki..." he thought to himself.
Usui walked out of Le Francais and waved over a taxi.
"I should go get myself ready...it's only 2:30..." he thought to himself as he got into the taxi.
"Where to, Sir?" the taxi driver asked.
"Ikatobi Hotel." Usui replied.
The taxi driver nodded before driving off. Usui stared out the window and sighed, watching the clouds float around in the sky.
"Why does my life have to suck? I mean, Marlene's nice and all, but I just don't belong with her." he told himself.
"We have arrived." the taxi driver said.
"Okay..." Usui dug through his jeans pocket and pulled out some yen. "Here." he said as he got out of the taxi.
"Thank you." the taxi driver said before driving off.
Usui made his way into the hotel and into the elevator. He pushed the number three and waited for the elevator to carry him up.
A few minutes later, he got to the floor and he headed down the hall to Room 303. He unlocked the door with the hotel card key and he walked into the room. He sighed as he closed the door behind him and leaned up against it.
"Well...I guess I should chill out until three thirty..." he trailed off before heading over to plop down on the couch and watch some television.
"Usui!" Marlene exclaimed as she ran over to him.
Usui glanced up from his phone and he forced another smile onto his face. He swore that if he kept smiling like Ken, that smile would just be permanently glued right onto his face.
"Hey." he managed to speak as she pulled him into a hug. "Did you like the wedding planner?" he asked.
"You mean Ayu?" she questioned as they got into the dark blue Toyota Prius that Usui had rented when they got here.
Usui gave Marlene a questioning look.
"Of course, her. What, did you end up with two of them?" Usui asked.
"Well...I got a wedding planner and a dress designer..." she trailed off.
"Just tell me." Usui started the engine up and drove off to Le Francais. "How is the wedding planner?" he asked.
"Oh, Ayu is just so nice! She's very pretty. You know, she reminds me of how you described your old crush." she stated.
Usui's eyes grew wide at Marlene's last statement.
"Who...Who are you trying to mention here?" he asked, wondering if she might be mentioning who he thought she was mentioning.
"The one that you used to go to Seika High with." she replied.
"Oh, her..." Usui trailed off.
"She is very, very gorgeous and...she looked exactly like me." Marlene said.
Usui felt his heart race a little. He then gritted his teeth as he gripped the steering wheel.
"Could she be Misa-chan?" he shook his head. "No, that possibly couldn't be true. Since when would she be a wedding planner?" he asked himself.
He decided to drop the subject and talk about something else.
"Well, I reserved a table for two at Le Francais." he told her.
"French food? Are you sure, Usui?" she asked as Usui pulled up in front of the restaurant.
"What? Do you not like French food?" he questioned.
"Well..." she took off her seat belt. "I was thinking of seafood, perhaps...?" she suggested.
"Should I cancel the reservation, then?" he asked.
"No! French food will be fine..." she trailed off.
Usui said nothing as he got out of the vehicle. He went over to the other side of the vehicle and he opened the door for Marlene.
"Oh, thanks." she thanked him as she got out of the vehicle. He closed the door and they began to head to the restaurant. That was when he noticed that she was staring at him with a confused look on her face.
That was when he realized that she was wondering why he wasn't holding her hand. A part of the conversation he had with his uncle last night began to swim through his mind.
"In order for this to work, you need to show Marlene that you love her." those words made Usui feel sick to his stomach.
However, he grabbed ahold of her hand and he led her into the restaurant.
"Bonjour, monsieur. How many?" the host up front asked.
"I came here earlier and made some reservations. It's Usui for a table of two." Usui told him.
The host looked down at the reservation and that was when his eyes grew wide, seeing the name in the reservation book. He slowly glanced back up at Usui.
"Wait a moment...you're Usui Taku- - -" Usui cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
"Yes, I am. Do not create a scene." he told him.
"I know, but...It's been so long since the last time we've seen you! Last time, you brought a beautiful woman with you. You two had such a cute ice cream fight...Oh! It feels like as if it just happened yesterday!" he looked behind Usui and gasped. "Oh, mon dieu! Could it be her?!" he asked.
Usui shook his head.
"No, it's not Misa-chan. This is Marlene Osbourne." Usui introduced.
"Well, hi! It's a pleasure to meet you, Marlene." the host picked up two menus. "Well, right this way." he said as he led them to a table.
"Here you go." he said as he rested the two menus down.
Usui helped Marlene into her seat and then went down to sit in the chair across from her.
"Erika will be your waitress for today. Enjoy, you two." he said before walking off.
They both picked up their menus and began to look through it. Marlene peeked over hers at Usui as she began to speak.
"You and this Misa-chan girl were very close, weren't you?" she asked.
Usui nodded.
"Yeah. Normally, she would be a pain in the ass, but I was pretty used to it. She's pretty hotheaded, but I liked her like that." Usui explained.
"Oh...by any chance, was she the girl you used to like in high school?" she asked.
"Yeah...but, I'm over her now." he lied.
He was most definitely not over Misaki. Why would he be? He had been in love with her for eight years and even if he had to be in some life or death situation, he would never give her up.
Never.
"I see..." Marlene trailed off as a girl with bouncy red hair came to the table.
"Bonjour and welcome to Le Francais! My name is Erika and I will be taking care of you today. So, may I get you guys started off with something to- - -Oh my god...Usui?!" she nearly shouted.
"Um...do I know you?" Usui asked, confused by how she knew his name.
"Remember me from back at Maid Latte?" she asked.
Usui gave her a questioning look, trying to rejog his memory.
"I knew her?" he asked himself.
A lightbulb flickered on in his head as he finally managed to remember her.
"Ah. Weren't you my beach volleyball partner that one summer and we went up against Misa-chan and Aoi in the championships?" he asked.
"Yes! I didn't think you would remember that!" she gushed.
"Well, I did. I always remember something that involves Misa-chan." Usui told her.
"Well, that's great." Erika beamed at Usui as she pulled out her notepad and pen. "Are you gonna stay virgin? Or will you upgrade?" she asked.
"I'll upgrade." Usui replied.
"Yes! Oh yes, finally! I knew you'd upgrade one day!" Erika exclaimed.
"You knew I would?" Usui questioned.
Erika nodded.
"Yeah." she wrote down his order. "It was a bet that Manager and I had whenever you came to Maid Latte. You also got a virgin colada and I always wondered when you would ever upgrade." Erika explained.
"Interesting bet." Usui noted.
Erika then glanced over at Marlene.
"And what can I get for yo- - -Misa-chan?!" she nearly exclaimed.
Marlene laughed nervously.
"I keep getting that a lot. I'm Marlene Osbourne." she told Erika.
"Oh." Erika sounded a little disappointed. "Well, what may I get you?" she asked.
"I'll have a Sprite." Marlene replied.
Erika wrote down Marlene's orders and smiled.
"Okay, thanks! I will be back with that!" Erika chirped before turning on her heel and walking off.
Once Erika was out of sight, Marlene let out a deep sigh.
"You seem to be friends with everyone on the name of this Misa-chan girl..." she trailed off.
"Yeah." he bluntly stated.
"Was...Was she an important person to you?" Marlene asked.
"Yeah." Usui replied.
"How so?" Marlene asked, fearing Usui's answer.
"She was the Student Council President." Usui replied.
"Oh...okay." she replied, feeling kind of relieved by his answer as she glanced down at the red and white patterned tablecloth.
"Are you jealous?" Usui asked, noticing how Marlene got each time Misaki or any of her friends were mentioned.
"N-No! I'm not jealous!" Marlene stuttered out as Erika came back with their drinks.
"Colada for Usui and a Sprite for the lady." Erika rested their drinks down. "Are you guys ready to order or shall I give you guys some extra time?" she asked.
"No, we're ready." Usui scanned the menu once more and that was when he noticed something. "Erika?" he spoke up.
"Oui?" Erika replied.
"May I ask what Usui's Special is?" he asked, pointing at a dish in the specialties section.
"Oh, that? Remember when you came here with Misa-chan eight years ago and you wanted something that wasn't on the menu?" Erika asked.
"You mean the stuffed portabella mushrooms on some brown rice with chopped jalapenos on the side?" Usui questioned.
"Yes! A few days after that, we tried it out and everyone loved it! So, we made it a specialty dish named after you." Erika explained.
"Huh. I guess I'll have that, then." Usui said.
"I'll have the lemon herb chicken." Marlene said.
"Okie dokes! I'll be back with your order!" Erika chirped as she began to walk off. Before she could, Usui grabbed ahold of her arm and pulled her down lightly to his height.
"By any chance, have you heard from Misaki or any of the others?" he whispered quietly enough so Marlene couldn't hear.
"I've been speaking with the others. I haven't heard from Aoi ever since Misa-chan graduated from high school and as for Misa-chan, we talk every other weekend. To be honest, though, I haven't heard from her in two and a half months. The only person she confides in these days is Aoi." she told him.
Usui sighed deeply as he let go of her arm and she walked off so that she could leave them alone. He glanced over at Marlene and just by the look in her eyes, he knew that she wanted silence.
So, they stayed silent for the rest of the day.
Me-And that's it! Gosh, I honestly thought that I was never going to finish this chapter...
Usui-Yay.
Misaki-What's happened next?
Me-You go on a lunch date with Aoi!
Misaki-EH?!
Aoi-I...It's not a freaking lunch date! o/ / /o
Me-You sure about that?
Aoi-I'm positive! Get out of my face, you damn hag!
Me-Oi! Shut up!
Erika-R&R please! If you do, you get a virtual pie! :D
