Normal POV
As the clock striked seven thirty, Misaki's alarm clock began to blare in Misaki's sleeping face.
Her face twisted up in annoyance at the loud noise of the alarm clock. She wanted silence and she wanted it now.
"Shut up..." she grumbled angrily as she sleepily reached over and tried to turn the alarm clock off.
She apparently failed. The alarm clock continued to go off like as if it was mocking her. She let out a guttural growl, a frown bestowing itself upon her face as she curled her hand into a fist and she smashed it, destroying it completely.
She smiled, knowing that she would finally get some peace and quiet without the alarm clock annoying the living hell out of her.
"That was the sixty-fifth alarm clock that I've broken..." she snorted a little. "Meh. Like I care." she thought to herself before drifting back to sleep.
About four hours and fifteen minutes later (11:45), her phone's alarm began to go off and it began to play Radioactive by Imagine Dragons.
She groaned as she slowly sat up and she lazily opened her tired amber orbs.
"Ugh..." she grumbled out as she propped herself upon the bed properly and she grabbed for her phone from on her nightstand. She looked at the screen and she narrowed her eyes at what was on it.
"Five texts and fifty-two missed calls from Aoi..." she mumbled tiredly.
"Man, I must really sleep like a rock..." she thought to herself.
The phone began to ring in her hand, which made her nearly jump. The ringtone was some Skillet song that Aoi liked.
"Ah, great. It's Aoi." she thought to herself.
She pressed answer and she put the phone to her ear.
"What do you want, Hyoudou?" she asked groggily.
"Why didn't you pick up your phone?"
"I was sleeping, stupid." she climbed out of bed. "What, were you trying to check up on me or something?" she asked.
"Something like that." Misaki went into her bathroom. "Besides, you were extremely drunk and you threw up before I left your apartment." he said, acting like as if this kind of thing happened every night.
Misaki rolled her eyes at that thought.
"Do you know how many times I tried to call you?"
"Fifty-two times." she replied.
"Do you know how many texts I've sent you?"
"Five texts." she replied.
"And you know this because?"
She groaned, hating how Aoi scolded her like a father sometimes. It ticked her off greatly and made her want to cuss in his face. And that was exactly what she did.
"I woke up five minutes ago, you dumbass Hyoudou!" she shouted into the phone.
"Well," she heard him sigh, "I guess that explains things." he said.
"Whatever, Dad." Misaki said in a sarcastic voice, which made Aoi scoff.
"Anyway, there is a reason why I called you."
"And that is?" Misaki asked as she began to brush her teeth.
"Are you free today?"
Misaki blinked her eyes twice as she spat out her toothpaste.
"If I'm free?" she questioned like as if she had heard Aoi ask an inappropriate question and she had wanted a clarification.
"Yes. Are you?"
"Come on, since when when am I not free on a day off?!" she asked as she turned off the sink and she went to comb her hair.
"That is almost never true, first off."
"I am being serious here. I'm free today, so just tell me why you want to know." Misaki said.
"Um...well...There's this great place that I know of that makes some good food for lunch. I was wondering if you would like to...I guess, tag along."
Misaki was temporarily surprised by Aoi's invitation. She then smirked as she put her comb down.
"Are you asking me out on a date, Hyoudou?" she asked teasingly.
"Wh-What?!" she could tell that he was blushing like a madman on the other end. "Hell no! What about Usui?! You got him!"
Misaki tensed up at that.
Recently, she had begun to feel quite insecure about her thoughts on Usui. It was like as if she was doubting her feelings of love to him. She just didn't know what to do anymore. He wasn't going to come back for her, so what was the point of still harboring those feelings?
Oh, yes.
She still believed that he'd come back.
To her.
"How DO I feel about him?" she asked herself.
"Oi, hag? You alive?" Aoi's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Huh? Yeah, Aoi?" she asked.
"Do we need to talk about it?"
"Yeah. And yes, I'll come. I'll tell when you come to get me." Misaki said.
"Alright. Well, I'll be at your place in fifteen minutes. I'm just getting dressed."
Misaki couldn't help but snicker.
"Pokeball boxers..." she murmured into the phone.
"SCREW OFF!" the phone clicked, which made Misaki burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter. She came out of the bathroom and went over to her closet, pulling out a black and red vertically striped v-neck shirt with faded skinny jeans.
As she began to put her clothes on, she looked at herself in the screen of her phone.
"What should I tell Aoi about my thoughts of Usui? Do I even love Usui anymore?" she asked herself.
Misaki and Aoi walked down the streets of Tokyo in silence. There was just nothing to say at the moment. It had been like this ever since they had left Misaki's apartment complex.
Misaki couldn't figure out how to start the conversation. She wanted to tell Aoi about her mixed emotions and how they've come about recently, but she just had no idea where to begin.
As for Aoi, he was nervous out of his mind. He was actually considering this whole shenanigan a date! A date! He was sure that he was nuts in the head. He could feel a lump forming in his throat at the thought.
They arrived at a place called The Lunch Nook.
"Come on. Let's go in." Aoi said.
Misaki could only nod as they went in and got in line. As they waited, Aoi crossed his arms over his chest and he turned to look at Misaki.
"So, what is it that we need to talk about?" Aoi asked.
"Um...it's about Usui..." Misaki trailed off.
Aoi noticed how Misaki trailed off and he nodded his head.
"Okay. You can tell me everything once we get our food." Aoi said.
Misaki's eyes sparkled.
"Aoi...!" she gushed.
"Ugh, shut up, hag." Aoi growled as they went up to the counter.
Misaki stayed quiet as Aoi gave the worked their order, not bothering to ask what she had wanted. He then took two cups and he told her to go get him some root beer. She nodded as she went over to the soda fountain and got him some root beet and some Dr. Pepper for herself.
She looked around as Aoi came up and nudged her lightly.
"Come. There's a table outside." he said.
Misaki nodded as she followed him out to the outdoor eating area and they sat down at a table under an orange umbrella.
"They'll bring the food soon." Aoi propped his elbows up on the table, clasping his hands together and resting his chin on them as Misaki rested Aoi's drink before him and put her drink down. "So, what's up?" he asked.
An awkward silence hung over them for what seemed like hours. Misaki was the first to break the silence.
"I don't know what to do anymore!" she blurted out.
Aoi blinked his eyes twice.
"Huh? What do you - - -Oh, thanks." the waiter put their meals in front of them and walked off to leave the two in peace. "What do you mean?" he questioned.
"My emotions are mixed up." she stated.
"In what way?" Aoi asked.
"In the sense that I don't know of my feelings for Usui anymore." she sipped on her Dr. Pepper. "I was thinking about him today. I don't know if he's okay. He hasn't kept in contact with me or any of us in the past eight years. Of course, you know that I like him. You know that he promised to come back soon. But, recently, I've been losing hope. I've been thinking that Usui just might never come back. And now...I just feel like I don't even love him anymore..." she trailed off.
Aoi stared at her with wide eyes. He never imagined the day when Misaki would actually doubt her love for Usui would come. It almost seemed like he was still in a dream, drifting off into an endless wonderland.
Misaki's words made Aoi grit his teeth.
"Just what the hell are you saying?!" Aoi suddenly stood up, startling some of the people nearby. "If you really love him, then you got to hold onto that feeling! You shouldn't have to give up on him just yet! Love is when you fight until the very end!" he shouted.
Misaki blinked, her amber eyes wide in shock.
"Aoi..." she trailed off as she continued to stare at him.
Aoi then realized what he just did and his cheeks turned as red as a beet.
"Wh-What?! Why are you staring at me like that?!" Aoi sat back down in his chair. "Eat already!" he snapped angrily as he reached for his BLT and bit into it, obviously still embarrassed.
Misaki giggled as she looked down at her meal, which was grilled cheese with some soup.
"Aoi, how did you know that I liked grilled cheese?" she asked.
"I...I remembered something that Subaru said back when Usui was still here!" he said.
Misaki looked at Aoi for a couple of moments before smiling.
"Okay." she replied as she began to eat.
They engaged in some conversations here and there and when they did, Misaki would laugh and Aoi would end up joining in with her.
"This feels so refreshing...having fun with Aoi always seems to calm me down..." she thought to herself.
Misaki unlocked the door to her apartment and the two of them walked in.
"Doesn't this give you bad memories?" Aoi asked.
"Hm? What do you mean?" she asked, arching an eyebrow in confusion as Aoi closed the door behind him.
"Well, you're living in Usui's apartment, so..." Aoi trailed off.
"Well," Misaki plopped down on the couch in the living room, "it bothered me when I first moved in, but after a while, I got used to living here. Besides, it's the only thing left that reminds me of Usui." she explained.
Aoi looked at her like as if he were sympathizing with her as he went into the kitchen and began to dig through the pantry.
"You got any ramen packs?" he asked.
"Fourth shelf, right next to the box of cheese crackers." she told him as she turned on the TV.
As the theme song for a show began to play, Aoi pulled his head out from in the pantry, his eyes wide as he held about five ramen packs in his arms.
"Oh my god, what episode is this?!" he nearly exclaimed as he jumped over the couch and sat down next to Misaki.
Misaki couldn't help but laugh as she placed the remote onto the small coffee table before them.
"Are you seriously still obsessed with Johnny Test?" she asked.
"And if I am?" Aoi shot back hotly.
"It just makes you a big kid." Misaki stated, making Aoi glare at her.
"Shut up, hag." he grumbled.
It was silent between them (excluding the episode of Johnny Test that was playing) before Misaki began to speak.
"I heard that a new nightclub opened up three days ago." Misaki said.
Aoi sighed as he began to crush the ramen pack up in his hands.
"Time and place?" Aoi asked, already knowing where this was going.
"Seven thirty and the place is called Supernova. It's at the intersection of Main and Seiya." Misaki explained.
"Okay. We'll wait till then. As for now, we'll watch this episo- - -oh my god, it's a marathon! Sweet!" he exclaimed as he lounged back on the couch.
Misaki laughed as he opened the pack and he gave her some.
"Silly Aoi." she thought to herself as they watched the episode.
