The holiday had passed quickly. Harry now had over 50 points of escape on his ring covering the British Isles with a third in Ireland and 13 in the North of France all with in 50 miles of the Channel. It seemed the same distance limitations as Apparition applied. This Harry reported to Hermione and Ron when they came back from the Easter Holiday.
Ron had refined the trap to capture Brown specially since one of his fellow Ravenclaws managed to get a hair sample. Hermione had found a reference to a rare form of magic that could attract some one to do something. Not the Imperious curse. No these spells where put on the person casting the spell. Related spells where those of attraction and so called love spells. The magic was considered grey under the law. It did force a change to be made in how the trap was sprung.
Ron asked Snape if he had Polyjuice on had. Which Snape did have. It seemed Snape kept a sample of all the potions that could be made from the books in the school library plus common variations. The meeting between Snape, Sprout and Flitwick on Ron's new trap took several days. Christine Applegate donated several hairs and an of age Hufflepuff agreed to drink the Polyjuice and have the spell cast on her.
So on a Monday afternoon Christine Applegate left the library alone telling her friends that she was returning to the dorm. Brown followed her out now free of his watchers. A seventh year Hufflepuff followed him under a Disillusionment spell. Noted where he disappeared.
Harry with Prof. Sprout along with 5 7th years are waiting concealed. Christine walked along the corridor headed to the stairs down to Hufflepuff. Brown seeing that the hallway is clear stepped out behind her as she passed. He cast three nearly silent spells then attempted to get back into the secret passage. From down the corridor Harry saw a spell that was a shocking blue. It encircled Brown and held him immobile. Malfoy walked up to him from out of concealment.
"Her parents are properly magical even if she is only first generation." sneered Malfoy. "A girl with the beginnings of the Healers gift in her blood. One of the rarer Gifts of which require both parents to be Magical. Minor hexes to keep her in her place I could understand spell combinations that can kill a healer never." he turned to face Prof. Sprout. "Will she be alright Prof. Sprout?"
"Yes she will Mr. Malfoy. The spell you used?" Sprout asked.
"Delmont's Binding." Malfoy replied. "The Aurors know the counter to it. As would the Headmaster and most Slytherin's."
"I also know it." Sprout said. "I will report this to your head of house. You may go."
Each of the students who witnesses the attack gives a disposition to the Aurors. At Supper that night Brown is formally announced as expelled and on his way to Azkaban for attempted murder.
After supper Harry was called to Snape's office. "Did you see the spell Malfoy cast?" Snape asked.
"Yes, It was a rather shocking blue color, quite broad about a foot I'd say in diameter." Harry replied.
"Unusual that. It's one of the rare spells that can be different colored when cast depending on the person. It is also one of those spells that can be taught to a wizard born child as a means of self defense. Usually it's a parent who does the teaching." Snape mused.
"Will I learn it?" Harry asked.
"If you want. It's well known as is the counter among the Dark Lord's followers. Though some sort of restraint spell would be advisable for you to learn. One of the uncommon ones I think. Have Miss Granger come see me. I'll set her to discover one for your abilities. What is Mr. Weasley up now that Brown is captured?"
"Plotting out the Master's location and how to catch him. I noticed a Slytherin cat on the first floor. I think it was a pregnant female."
"Quite likely it was. They can roam the entire castle but usually stay in the dungeons. My Glass lizards are beginning to wake up. In a week or so I want you to attempt to speak with them. How is your owl breeding project going?"
"Hagrid put me in touch with Scandinavian Snowy Owl breeders Club. They have a Chapter in Scotland so I can get the rules and the like in English other wise it's either in Norwegian or Swedish. I'll be meeting some of them the next Hogsmeade Weekend at the Three Broomsticks to go over what I need to do to get started."
"I'll go with you and observe. When next we meet bring me the details. I have given some thought as to your summer holiday. I'll arrange for a dispensation for you so you'll be able to practice limited magic this summer. It must be under tutelage."
"Is that how some of the Pure Blood students get around the under age restrictions?" Harry asked.
"Not really the forms have to come from the student's head of house and a specific teacher assigned to teach the classes. Usually it's students with a gift awakening or an unusually strong type of magic. Have you noticed any new visual anomalies?"
"The girls seem to get a reddish glow around them about once a month. Not all of them though First years sometimes do sometimes don't. A couple of second years don't glow either." Harry said.
"I'm not sure if you are seeing when they are on their moon time or when they are fertile." Snape said. He notes that harry was blushing. "It is a normal part of the healing gift to know this. You may have a touch of it. This can be pursued when you are older ignore it for now unless the color either intensifies or changes."
