Saturday Harry meet Snape in the Entrance hall for the trip to Arran Island for his eye exam. Upon arrival Master Beckett lead him through the same procedure as last time including the drops in his eyes that made the world go dizzy with streaking colors. Blindfolded and sent to lunch. That lunch was again fish and chips though this time the beer was a half pint of wheaten lager. After lunch Snape lead him through using his other senses. There was a faint feel of fine scales against his cheek. When the blindfold was removed the streak of silver light rests coiled on his left shoulder. It would fit into the palm of his hand.
When they returned to Master Beckett's office Harry had another exam. This one required him to look through various pieces of colored glass and describe what he saw in a small triangle on a white piece of parchment with his new glasses on.
"What I suspected. He has the Healing sight as well. It's rare to have both but not unheard of. Now I can filter out the Healing sight for you for now. However you will have to learn to live with it in the future." Master Beckett said.
"Does having the Healing sight also mean I have the healing gift?" Harry asked.
"No, it does not." Snape replied. "It's just a slightly different form of Mage sight most commonly associated with the Healing gift or affinity. The combination of both forms of Mage sight will require registration with the Department of Mysteries. It also means that they will actively attempt to recruit you, as will Gringotts. The combination is known as true sight as you will be able to see through illusions once your sight is fully mature."
"Can you train me its use or will I have to get another Master to teach me?" Harry asked Snape.
"The basics I can teach you. The early stages aren't much different than regular Mage sight. To fine tune it I would suggest another Master. However that can wait a year or two. However once True Sight is diagnosed you must register it with the Department of Mysteries within the month. As a student there is some leeway in the registration." Snape explained. "As to finding you a master with true sight to train you in a year or two that is going to be difficult. Few are openly known. The Headmaster might know one willing to come and train you. Otherwise you are going to have to wait until you are of age to find one." Snape explained. "Will there be anything else Master Beckett?"
"No just that I need to see him in six months. Say the first Saturday in October." Master Beckett queried Harry.
"Barring a Gryffindor Quidditch game that's fine." Harry replied.
"Then in October Mr. Potter. If you have any problems over the Summer Mistress Hawkins is who you'll see in London. She has her office at St. Mungo's. She can be reached by muggle telephone as well. So there should be no problems." Beckett handed him a Magical business card with name, the address, telephone number, and floo connection. Harry knew that if a muggle saw it he'd only see the muggle information on it.
"Thank you Master Beckett." Harry said.
Their return to Hogwarts was one that took them to several inhabited islands in the Irish sea that showed up on muggle charts as rocky islands with no place to put in a boat. The Islands where in fact quite habitable with small populations of non-humans. Mostly Selkie stock. Though on one island there was a herd of pony sized Centaurs and their human wives. At each location Harry set a waypoint.
"Over the summer you'll set waypoints in Ireland and on the Isle of Man." Snape said as they returned to Hogwarts in the evening. "Part humans like the Selkie and the Centaur are considered little more than beasts by the extremist factions within Pure Blood dogma."
"Are there many like them?" Harry asked. "Part human I mean."
"Quite a few. There are only a few types of being that humans cannot breed with, with the aid of potions of fertility or other magic." Snape replied. "I'll recommend some books if you're interested in the subject over the summer."
"Will we have a lesson tomorrow morning like usual?"
"Join me for tea instead I have some research to do on true sight before we continue." Snape said.
A group of seventh year Hufflepuffs where coming up the path from Hogsmeade. Seventh years didn't have to wait for the monthly weekend in Hogsmeade they could go any weekend they wanted.
"You're back late escort you in to dinner Potter?" asked one of them.
"Go ahead Mr. Potter." Snape waved them off.
The Hufflepuffs took him directly to Gryffindor table then went to their own. As dinner was just starting he concentrated on the food instead of conversation with his house mates. Once it was over he went with Ron and Hermione to one of the secret rooms that where once guard rooms. This one they haven't used before.
"Master Beckett said I have true sight and I set some more waypoints in the Irish Sea." Harry explained his late return.
"Rare that. You'll have to register that with the Department of Mysteries." Ron said.
"So Snape told me." Harry said. "He also said I'd have to have another Master to train it. Though not for a year or two."
"I'll write Bill about it he'll know someone who can teach you." Ron offered.
"Snape said he'll tell the Headmaster and he'll find someone." Harry said.
Sunday afternoon at Tea Madame Pomfrey was there. "Mr. Potter I've good news for you. I've finally found a formulation for your treatment for the Basilisk Venom and Phoenix Tears combination caused pain." Madame Pomfrey said with a smile.
