"Welcome back to the first rounds of the tournament, which consists of one on one battles. On the Green side, we have one of Hoenn's top coordinators, Drew Hayden! In the Red side, we have the mysterious Satoshi of Johto. Each side can only use one Pokémon and cannot substitute their Pokémon during Battle. Are both sides ready? Battle Begin!"
The referee blew his whistle signifying the start of the battle. "Go Absol," Drew shouted in confidence. "Hawlucha, battle stance!" I called as a Hawlucha was sent onto the field opposite of Absol. He smirked and said, "this'll be easy, Absol use shadow claw and end this!" Absol began rushing towards Hawlucha, one of it's claws turning dark purple in the process. "Flying Press." Hawlucha suddenly disappeared before Absol got its chance to strike. Almost immediately did Hawlucha appear out of thin air and struck Absol's back, ending the battle with it's signature pose.
"Wh-what?! How?! After defeating Wallace with our new found strength, we loose in a matter of seconds?!" Drew yelled as he recalled Absol. "Unbelievable! You're lucky this time around, but you won't be able to defeat Paul at his strongest, or Trip for that matter!" I smirked. "We'll see," I said as a walked of stage and back into the locker rooms. For almost the entire time since Drew sent out Absol, the crowd went completely silent, all up to now. This revenge was gonna be sweet.
In the mean time, two girls, a young man, a young boy, and an average aged boy noticed the Hawlucha's pose. They hit a sense of De Ja Vu, but decided to shrug it off at the moment, save for a brunette girl and a honey blonde girl. One thought lingered in both their minds: I've seen that somewhere before.
"Pika chu chu pi," said Pikachu as Ash walked down to the Pokémon Centre. "Don't worry Pikachu, the battles will get harder eventually. In the mean time, all we can do is hold back until we need to show how strong we really are."
"Hi, welcome back to the Pokémon Centre, would you like me to heal your Pokémon Satoshi?" asked Nurse Joy as I entered the Pokémon Centre.
"Yes please, thank you," I replied as I handed her five Pokeballs and placed them on a tray, which Pikachu jumped on. As I turned around to begin walking to my room, a blonde boy immediately appeared behind me, almost surprising me. Almost.
"Mr. Satoshi that was awesome! That was the quickest battle I've ever seen! Not even Champion Cynthia is that strong! I can't wait to battle you!" spoke Barry as Brock approached with a group following behind him.
"Calm down Barry, don't get too excited. By the way, my name is Brock, I used to be the Pewter City Gym Leader. I'm sorry that my friend got off on the wrong foot with you earlier, though some of them can be somewhat temperamental." "No problem Brock," I responded as he began "introducing" me to all his friends, even the ones that were against me earlier. "By the way," he began again, "we're having dinner together in honor of those of us who made it into the competition. I was wondering if you'd like to join us." Ash could feel Lucario nagging in his Pokeball and assumed that he wanted him to go, in hopes if regaining his trust and so he'd forgive his friends.
*You win Lucario,* Ash thought as he communicated with him telepathically. "Sure, it's be fun," Ash said.
"Great, there's a Kalosian restaurant two blocks east. How does meeting up there at 7:00 p.m. sound?" asked Brock. "Sounds good to me, see you then, responded Ash as he walked away. Before he could do so though, someone tapped his shoulder, so he turned around.
"I'm sorry for joining Paul and going against you earlier before the tournament Satoshi. I hope we could be good friends and rivals," spoke Gary. "My name is Gary Oak by the way."
"It's alright Gary, and it's a pleasure to officially meet you. Now if you'll all excuse me, I have some business to attend to." Everyone nodded as Ash finally was left to walk to his room.
(Time skip)
"I think this is the place Lucario," spoke Ash as he stared at the 5-star restaurant. "Master, you shouldn't be worried. If they were going to try anything, they would've done so a long time ago." "I know, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious just in case." Lucario merely nodded as Ash entered the building. Greeted by Brock who waited by the front for him, he walked over to a table where everyone else was at, while Lucario and Pikachu were escorted by waiters to the Pokémon area.
"Hey what happened to Tracey, Kenny, Stephan, and Bianca? Why aren't they here?" a voice spoke as Ash took a seat. Ash looked across the table, watching as the conversation went on, a confused face plastered onto Barry.
"They all lost in the first round and decided to head back home, except for Tracey, since he never was part of the tournament, Professor Oak called him back to Kanto for help," spoke Drew.
"What about Max and Bonnie?"
"They went over to the Pokémon section," spoke Clemont. "Bonnie may finally be 10 years old, but she can still act like a kid sometimes."
"I know what you mean," sweat dropped May. "Oh hey Satoshi, glad you could join us! Oh by the way, Tracey sends his apologies for the little dispute from earlier, and Paul and Trip are out training, but don't take it personally," she said with a smile.
"I understand," spoke Satoshi.
"So who's battling who tomorrow?" inquired Brock.
"Iris is going against Misty and you're going up against Cilan tomorrow in the Gym leaders Bracket. As for me, I'm going up against Grant, a rock type specialist here in Kalos. Drew's leaving for Hoenn tonight, which leaves Dawn who's facing May. Since Max and Bonnie weren't qualified to battle in the tournament, that just leaves us with Paul, Trip, Gary, and Barry. As for Serena, she's going up against her long time friend and rival, Shauna."
"Good luck against Grant, Clemont. Satoshi, do you know who you're going up against?" asked Serena. He nodded. "Koga, Kanto Elite 4." Everyone stared at him. "You're in the elite brackets?" murmured Gary in pure shock. Ash simply nodded. "Well, good luck to you too then," spoke Serena.
"Here comes the food!" squealed May. Everybody sweat dropped at her behavior. "You still act like Ash sometimes May. You actually kind of remind me of him sometimes," commented Brock. Everybody laughed in agreement shortly before gloomy faces started appearing around the table.
"I really do miss him though," Serena spoke quietly. "So do I," said Clemont. There were murmurs of agreement around the table from most of the people sitting around it. "Oh whatever! It's always Ash this and Ash that! Can't it just be about ourselves for once? Ash isn't even alive anymore for Arceus' sake!" yelled Misty. "Though I don't agree with how she said it... she does have a point in what she means. We have to move on eventually..." murmured Brock, as nods of agreement slowly followed. Satoshi was silent and still the entire time.
"Hey Satoshi, you've been quiet during that whole talk about Ash, do you know him?" observed Serena.
Ash nodded. "He was a dear friend of mine, I knew him all my life."
"I do not believe Ash has ever mentioned you before," spoke Clemont.
"I made him promise to keep me a secret when we were young." Everybody simply nodded in understanding and began to eat, with the exception of May who went straight to devouring her a food the way her Munchlax used to.
"How do the monitor scans go doctor?"
"Targets Alpha and Omega are clashing once more, as usual. We've hired an expert to pursue targets Beta and Gamma, while target Delta is still under surveillance." a mysterious man spoke.
"Excellent," another man hidden in the shadows spoke. "And the chosen one?"
"We've pieced together that he is at the Lumiose City tournament, but we are still yet to identify who he is specifically," spoke the doctor.
"Very good Doctor, you may continue with your work."
"Yes sir!"
"There is a storm coming chosen one, and there'll be no place to hide..."
