Please read the A.N. at the end of this for a explanation that I need to give in relation to this story :)
Disclaimer: I don't own Power of Five.
When Pedro was walking outside by the lake, he thought he would be having a nice, pleasant day for some 'me time'. He was working on his healing abilities, which were strengthening all the time, and he had started using his power to heal the environment. It would take a lot of practise – healing a small amount of flowers, at the moment, exhausted him completely. But he could only hope that, soon, he would be able to contribute to the healing of the world.
However, his supposedly free day was interrupted, by two bored and hyperactive twins. He groaned as they almost knocked him over in their frenzy.
"Pedro, c'mon," Jamie said, "There's something happening upstairs."
"What?" He asked in confusion, blinking slowly.
"There's something happening!" Scott repeated, uncharacteristically excited. "You need to come, now!"
Pedro looked at them both very sceptically. He wasn't sure if he liked this. He soon found out that he would not like it at all.
The twins practically dragged him back to the old hotel, telling him exactly what they were planning to do. The dread started to build in the pit of his stomach, and he managed to yank himself out of their grasp just before they came to the entrance.
"You two want me to spy on my friends, who are possibly having a private moment?"
"Yes," the twins confirmed, in unison. They shared a look, and both wore expressions that seemed to say 'Duh!'.
Pedro stared at them in astonishment.
"C'mon!" Jamie begged, "We'll leave you alone after this, I promise."
Pedro looked between the two of them, brows drawn in a frown. Eventually, he sighed, rolling his eyes slightly. He was going to regret this. "Fine, fine. I'll go."
The twins shared a grin and each pulled on one of his arms.
It took them about ten minutes to figure out where Scarlett's bedroom window was. The twins seemed a bit excited, but Pedro could already feel the guilt seeping into his veins. Matt was his closest friend, and he was starting to become close to Scarlett. Did he really want to do this?
Jamie found a drainpipe and tested it out, before starting to climb.
There was no going back now.
Matt had made the move. He couldn't believe it. It wasn't easy to get his head around. He had liked her for months and months (at least that's what it felt like) but he thought that he'd never make the move and start something.
He had proved himself wrong.
Now she sat across from him, practically glowing in the sunlight, her dark eyes twinkling mischievously. This was unfamiliar to him – he had never crushed or loved anyone. He was too busy trying to wade through the chaos that was his life.
Now, though….
Now, he just trusted his instincts like he never let himself before, and went with it.
Years later, he still couldn't describe what it felt like when he kissed her. He just felt unbelievably happy, something that scared him. He couldn't remember the last time he had felt joy that strong.
He rested his forehead on hers, laughing slightly to himself. "This is weird," he admitted, without thinking.
Scarlett met his gaze, and he could almost see his emotions reflected back in her expression. "I know. But we'll get used to - "
There was a loud bang outside the window, and the pair turned to look outside.
"Oh my god!" Scarlett exclaimed.
"Jamie, what the hell?" Scarlett yanked the balcony door open, eyes blazing.
"Nice one, bro. You've done it now." Scott shook his head in mocking disapproval.
"Like you're much better."
"Guys…" Pedro trailed off at the look on Scarlett's face.
"You too?" she exclaimed. She paused and frowned deeper. "Were all three of you spying on us?"
Pedro glanced downward meekly. Yes, they had been spying on them. They had wanted to see if the news was true. And yes, even Pedro had gotten a little curious as they climbed up. But he knew what they were doing wasn't right, and he felt awful. "We're sorry, Scarlett, Matt. We shouldn't have done it."
"No, you shouldn't have," Scarlett raged, "it's a breach of privacy, it's wrong, it's - "
"Calm down, Scar." Matt appeared behind her, and although he seemed annoyed, he didn't look like he was about to explode, like Scarlett. He rested his hands on her shoulders and rubbed them gently.
Though she protested, Scarlett eventually sank into his touch, huffing a little. "I'm still mad at you lot," she muttered.
"We know," the twins said in unison. They looked sheepish.
Matt led Scarlett out of the doorway to the balcony, and he glared at the three as they quickly hopped across the room and out the room door.
Needless to say, they never spied on Matt and Scarlett again.
Or, at least, they made sure that they were never caught again.
That was an idea provided by Time Lordess. Thank you!
Okay guys…this is the final chapter. I'll probably write an epilogue, but then that'll be it.
Wait! Before you get all mad at me, I want to explain myself. To…come clean, if you will.
I started this story two years ago, a month before I turned fourteen. I was angry after reading the ending of Oblivion, and I thought it was only right that I tried to give the characters a happy ending, one they deserved. So I launched into this story…without a plan, without a plot, without a clear ending in mind. And that was a huge mistake.
The reason this hasn't been updated in a year is that simple – I'm out of inspiration. I've run out of road, and I've hit a dead end, which left me with two options – I leave it like it was, or I try to give it some kind of ending that will never seem right. No win situation.
The latter is what I went with.
Don't worry though, this won't be the last of Power of Five fanfics from me! I have a few (much better) fanfic ideas up my sleeve. Multi-chapter ones in the midst.
I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your reviews and your support. I have read back on this, and I think that the writing is awful, if I'm honest.
Hopefully the epilogue will provide some closure to this, and that you'll enjoy it as much as you have enjoyed the rest of the story.
So, once again, thank you.
