Hey guys!
I hope you're enjoying this Fanfiction so far! Here's a small story about Matt's Valentine's Day experience in Japan. I wanted to write this mini-chapter to hold you guys back until I'm finished writing chapter seven! This was written literally just now, as it IS the day before Valentine's day.
Just a "shame-less" plugin, if you haven't read it yet, check out my one-shot fanfiction of Attack on Titan! It's called The Battle Inside the Walls. I thought it came out well, so check it out when you can!
So if you have no one to cherish or protect (if you have no Valentine I mean) this Valentine's Day, then I hope this will quench your thirst! I personally don't have a valentine, but that won't stop me from still enjoying the day! Review if you want to, I don't mind either way.
Enjoy!
-Matthew
Matt woke up, wiping his eyes as the sun was shining on them since six o'clock.
"Friday..."
He got up, and jumping off his bed, went straight to the shower. Setsuna was still sleeping, heavily. He sang in the shower as he washed.
After showering, he walked outside to check on Setsuna. She was sound asleep; not even a bucket of water would phase her.
"Good." He walked over to the kitchen, and striking the flame on the stove, began to heat up some chocolate.
"Class, as you know, today is Valentine's day!" the magical sensei, Negi, said.
"I'm sure many of you have dates today, and as I am a busy teacher myself (he's totally lying, Matt thought), I decided to let you guys have free time today!"
All of his students rejoiced, and Kotarou jumped out of the window to the main floor.
"A-ah... You have to stay in this class, though." Negi sweat a drop. He then went to his desk to begin more paperwork.
Konoka saw this as an opportunity.
"Matt-kun!~" Matt looked up, as he was already asleep since the beginning of Negi's class.
"Yeah?"
"What was it that you were heating up this morning?" Setsuna turned to look in interest. Matt was uneasy.
"W... What are you talking about? I wasn't heating anything up..." He turned and looked away.
"Don't lie, Matt! What did you make this morning?~" Konoka, Setsuna and Asuna were all pressuring him to reveal what it was.
"How do you even know about this?!"
"I usually go for morning walks, and when I walked by your dorm I smelled something... Delicious.~" Now everyone was interested in seeing what it was, even Evangeline.
"...Oh, alright!" He started digging through his bag.
"I was hoping to save this until after school..."
He kept digging, and when he realized he hadn't grabbed anything, dug even deeper.
"...W-Wait... Where is it?!" He was turning his bag upside down, then his desk, and eventually Negi.
"What are you looking for?" Negi was as calm as ever.
Walking down the street, Kotarou noticed something in his bag. It was a box.
"What the hell is-" Suddenly, he realized.
"Oh crap!"
"Kotarou, I need you to do something for me."
"Sure man, what is it?"
"I need you to hold onto this for me."
"Eh? Why? Can't you hold onto it yourself?"
"You're missing a key thing."
"Right. Her."
"Yup. She might check my bag. We can't have that."
"Alright then, gimme it! I'll keep it safe."
Kotarou began running down the street, trying to make it back to class before it had ended. Turning, he bumped into Fate.
"Oh, it's the sub!"
"I have a name, you know..." Fate was brushing off the dirt that Kotarou put on him.
"Yeah, yeah. Listen, are you heading to the school right now?"
"Possibly. I have paperwork to do there. Why?"
"Here." Kotarou held out the box.
Fate stared at it, then at Kotarou.
"If this is some kind of trick..."
"It isn't! Listen, this is Matt's. I need you to deliver it to him."
"I have no time for these silly games."
"Please!" Kotarou bowed his head, although he felt the shame in doing so.
"This box is important to Matt! I won't ask any other favors, I swear!"
Fate took the box, inspecting it.
"Something smells... Delicious."
"Look bud, you eat it, you'll get killed by Matt! No funny ideas, alright?" Kotarou started running the other direction.
"Thanks, Fate!" He only gave a grunt in response. He began walking towards the school again.
"What the hell are you looking for?" Asuna said, almost hurling from being upside down due to Matt.
"It's a- Well it's a... Kind of a..." He stopped, putting Asuna down, and thought.
"Matt, are you okay?" Setsuna asked. Matt started blushing, then suddenly remembered.
"...KOTAROU!" He opened the closest window to him, and giving a wave to Negi, jumped out.
"Wait, Matt! You're supposed to... stay in class..." He was already gone.
Running, Matt struggled to find out where Kotarou went.
If he were to skip school, where would he be? He thought.
The arcade! Of course!
He made a sharp turn, and ran as fast as he could to the mall center; passing by Fate, who didn't seem to notice him.
Was that the sub?
Making it to the arcade, he burst through the door, and looking towards the gun games, saw Kotarou.
"Kotarou!" He ran up to him, grabbing his shoulder.
"Hey! You decided to leave the school, too?"
"Oh yeah, about that... We're gonna be in trouble when we get back." Matt sighed.
"Anyways, where's the box?!"
"...The box?" Kotarou turned around.
"Ah! Right! Fate has it." It became really quiet.
"Matt?" Suddenly, Matt pulled Kotarou's shirt and picked him up, starting to run back to the school.
"Hey, let me down! I wasn't finished playing!"
"You idiot!"
Eventually, he made it to the school. With a strong push, he threw Kotarou through the window back into the classroom, onto Natsumi's desk. Everyone gasped, except for Natsumi who merely blushed.
"...Kotar-"
Matt jumps through the window! He scans the area, only to realize that Fate had just given Negi the box!
"Negi-sensei..."
"Ah, there you are, Matt! Fate kindly gave me this box to give to you!" Negi looked at it, and scanned it. It was shaped in the form of a heart, and had a card in the ribbon that was tied to it.
Negi decided to tease.
"Ahhh... What's this now?" Negi showed it to the class, and Matt started getting hot-headed.
"Why, it's a box! The one you were looking for, Matt! Let me just see what's inside..."
"Stop, you idiot!" He ran for Negi, but Negi seemed to teleport around the room, slowly opening the box.
"I swear, when I get my hands on you-"
The bell rang. Negi became wide-eyed.
"Class is... over..." He suddenly became pummeled by his students, who were all rushing out of the class to go home. The box flew into the air and landed safely onto Negi's desk. Matt grabbed it as quick as he could. He let out a sigh.
"Finally."
"Matt, what's in that box?" Setsuna was still curious, as was Asuna and Konoka.
"...Ah." He turned around to face them, and with the most innocent face he could put on, gave the box to Setsuna.
"... For me?"
"Y-yeah..." Matt then turned back around, blushing from the embarassment.
Opening the card, Setsuna blushed.
"From Matt, to Setsuna. My heart has never beated so fast, except for when I'm around you.
You..." She stopped, wiping a tear from her eye.
"... You are the light in my darkness, the person I shall cherish and protect forever. Will you be my valentine?"
Removing the ribbon, she opens the box. It's... chocolates! Matt realized she opened the box, and turned back around.
"Chocolate covered gummy bears. They're delicious, if I do say so myself." He looked proud, then when Setsuna looked up to him, was shocked, looked down and fiddled with his index fingers.
"S-so... Will you?" Asuna and Konoka were crying, waiting for Setsuna to give her answer.
"... Yes." Matt looked up, hope in his eyes. He grabbed Setsuna, and making sure the box would not break, gave her a hug.
"This is so cute!~"
"Who would have thought Setsuna would find a boy just right for her?!" Setsuna was blushing.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Try them!" Asuna insisted on Setsuna trying the gummy bears on the spot. Finally, she gave in and popped one into her mouth. The taste was sensational, the mix of the gummy bear flavor and the chocolate.
"These are... Amazing!"
"I'm glad you like them," Matt replied. His heart was beating faster than ever.
They eventually left the school, and as their friends parted ways, Matt and Setsuna walked to the grocery store as always to buy ingredients for dinner.
As they walked, they held hands.
