Rosie nodded. "Yeah, sure."
A light of surprise and shock glowed in Mabel's heart. Her eyes widened with exhilaration. "Ohmagosh REALLY?!"
Rosie nodded with a slight smile. Mabel exclaimed loudly and leaped into the air. "YAY! Thank you!" She started jumping around and around. Rosie giggled at her antics.
Dipper seemed uneasy. "Uh, Mabel. Calm down."
"I CAN'T! I'm just too happy!" Mabel enthused, jumping around and around happily. Suddenly, unaware, she accidentally hit towards a pole and fell down.
Dipper and Rosie cringed.
Dizzy birds flew in a circle above Mabel's head as she felt dizzy. Dipper and Rosie ran towards her on the ground. "Mabel, you're okay?" Her twin brother asked worriedly.
"Oh, I see stars. Glimmering in the sky." Mabel said unconsciously. Dipper lost his concern. "Yup, she's fine."
"Maybe you should teach your sister not to be jumpy." Rosie suggested. Dipper seemed to agree. "Yeah, maybe I should." He glanced at his dizzy twin. "Alright, Mabel. Get up."
"Oh, I see dolphins flying in the sky." Mabel said dizzily. "And Smile Dip dogs too!" She froze and immediately sat up, her dizziness faded. "Wait what? Not those things! They're evil! I need to destroy Smile Dip! They should not survive! They -"
Dipper cut her off. "Mabel."
Mabel turned and saw her brother and Rosie giving her annoyed looks. "Are you done?"
"Wait," She screamed. "I'LL FIND YOU, SMILE DIP!" Her voice echoed to the sky, sending birds flying in the air. She turned to her brother. "Okay, I'm done."
Dipper sighed with Rosie looking sideways. Mabel stood up. "Rosie, are you going to follow us back to the shack so we can start the band?"
Rosie seemed uncertain as she hesitated. "Um… well. I don't know. I, uh…"
Dipper raised his eyebrow, already getting suspicious. Mabel frowned. "Why? Something's bothering you?"
Rosie bit her lip nervously, undecided as she started thinking. The decision took her two minutes to decide. She took a deep breath and escaped the words out. "Sure." She said with an uncertain smile.
Mabel grinned. "AWESOME! Thank you! I owe you one!"
Dipper, who seemed very suspicious, instead, cracked a smile.
Then a voice threatened him from behind. "Hey, it's that wimpy kid again!"
Dipper, who secretly clenched his knuckles, slowly turned to face none other than Jake Johnsons and his friends. He shot the bully a fierce stare. "What do you want, Jake?" He voiced harshly.
Jake frowned in surprise. "Oh, you're now good to challenge me? Come on!" He punched Dipper's shoulders roughly and Dipper felt pain inside of it. Jake's friends started encouraging Jake to punch Dipper again.
Fortunately, Mabel arrived to his aid (with Rosie following from behind) and shoved Jake away from her twin brother. "HEYY! What's the matter with you?! Don't you dare bully my bro-bro, you freaked mutant monster!"
"Ow! Your words are killin' me, gurl!" Jake said sarcastically. He laughed. "Hah, nice words for a stupid, immature silly girl who doesn't know about everything."
Mabel was stilled by those words that took quite a stab in her heart. Her lips trembled with sadness and hurtful tears were now welling in her eyes. Dipper noticed and was angered by this. "How could you mess with my sister?!"
"What? Are you gonna -" Before Jake could finish his insolent reply, Dipper punched the bully right at the cheek, sending him toppling backwards and fell onto the ground. His friends gasped and Rosie's eyes widened.
Mabel suddenly recovered from the hurt and laughed at the bully. "Hah! Serve you right!"
"What?! You want a fight with me?" Jake thundered and immediately stood up. Mabel hesitated for a moment, and she shouted. "You deserves it, y-you… you… you son of a beach!"
Jake stopped and stared at Mabel. The twelve year old then threw confetti to his face and left with Dipper and Rosie trailing behind her.
Mabel, Dipper and Rosie were both walking near the road, close to the creepy woods. All was silent, but the birds' chirping were heard not far away. Mabel happily skipped towards the pavement. She skipped backwards while looking at her brother and Rosie walking with no little bit of happiness.
Mabel frowned. "What's gotten up your noses, guys?"
"I'm fine, Mabel. Just tired of school, that's all." Dipper told her, yawning before he flicked his gaze towards Rosie. "But Rosie looked blue."
Mabel tilted her head. "I've seen peach skin, brown hair, black shirt and red-and-yellow stripes leggings."
Dipper shook his head. "No, what I mean is she looked depressed."
"Ohhhh…" Mabel nodded slowly. "That makes a lot of sense." She turned to Rosie. "Hey, Rosie."
The mysterious girl perked up and glanced at her. Mabel took a deep breath and her eyes was filled with anxiety. "Are you okay? If going home right now really means to you, you can go. We can wait for you at the Mystery Shack. You know where that place is, right?"
"No, it's okay. Just feeling light-headed." Rosie replied and continued her pace. Mabel seemed uncertain. She's worried about Rosie. Maybe there's something that made the young girl acted like this? But her twin brother brushed it off. "Let it go, Mabel (No Frozen reference intended. Whoop!). She's alright. Trust me."
"But what if she's not? Sometimes when people said that they're okay, they're actually not okay! This happens very often, Dipstick!" Mabel expound. Dipper raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Woah, Mabel. Did you for counselling classes?"
Mabel massaged her forehead. "Nevermind. Let's just go. The shack cannot wait any longer." The twins then continued their walk together with Rosie already left them only three feet away.
The three walked together on the pavement and for a few meters, they have to cross the road once they reach the town of Gravity Falls. Mabel looked left and right, making sure no car was coming and quickly crossed the road with Dipper and Rosie following behind.
Suddenly a car appeared out of nowhere and screeched to a halt when the driver spotted the three kids. Mabel, Dipper and Rosie cringed at the thought that they're going to crash.
When they didn't, Mabel shot a glare at the driver. "Hey! Pedestrians have to ride away. Not cool!" (Get that reference?)
They walked and walked and walked (That seemed tired). Finally they arrived to the Mystery Shack. Mabel leaped to the air and introduced the shack to Rosie. "Here we are. The…." She made weird noises with her mouth, trying to make the sound of drum rolls. "…. MYSTERY SHACK!" She screamed.
Dipper poked his ear. "Ow." He silently winces with half-sarcasm. Rosie nodded slowly with a smile, merely interested. Dipper raised his eyebrow. Nothing odd coming from her… yet.
The trio went inside, only to be greeted by Soos and Wendy who were bored hanging around the gift shop. They are still no customers visiting the shop. Mabel noticed a barrel and a thought crossed her mind. "Soos, don't tell me that's -"
"Yup, hambone. Candy!" Soos enthused and Mabel jumped around and immediately grabbed the barrel, hugging it while staring at the candy in the barrel that was overflowing. Her mouth drooled. "I'm gonna be sooo sick!" She said in a singsong voice. She scooped the candy in a huge ball and shoved it into her mouth, chewing it satisfyingly.
Wendy shook her head amusingly when she now noticed the unfamiliar girl in the gift shop. "Oh, who's your new friend?"
Dipper was about to speak when Rosie suddenly started. "I'm Rosie Redwood." She gave out her hand and Wendy politely shook it. "Wendy Corduroy."
"So what are you doing here?" Soos asked curiously. Dipper cut in. "Oh, she's our new bassist."
Wendy and Soos stood in silence.
"Dude, say burrito now?"
Wendy seemed happy. "Woah, awesome! You think you're good at it?" She questioned Rosie. Dipper felt rigid. Is she challenging her? The girl shrugged and didn't seem bothered about it. "Who knows?"
Soos was excited. "Dude, I'm so hyped! When are we going to practice?"
"Let's ask the leader of the band." Dipper suggested. Rosie frowned. "And who's that?"
"ME!" Mabel suddenly appeared as she slided on the wooden floor and did a full split. There are candy stains and sugar matted around her mouth.
Soos punched the air with his fist. "Way to go!"
Mabel stood up and she was really jumpy. "Kay kay! We're going to practice after this! But first, let's organize a concert!"
Dipper and the others said in unison. "When?"
"Tonight!" Mabel exclaimed at the top of her lungs. "HASHTAG OH YEAH!"
They heard a gruff scold from upstairs. "Ahh! My ears hurt!"
Wendy had closed her ears and rebuked gently. "Mabel, that's too loud."
Dipper ignored that, and focused on the previous situation. "Really, Mabel? Tonight?"
"HEY!" Mabel screamed, again making the others' ears hurt. "Tomorrow's our last day so we should do earlier! Don't cha worry, we have plenty much time! We can practice right away!"
Dipper placed a thumb on his chin in thought. "But who's going to decorate the shack?"
"Hey, what's one plus one?" Mabel, with no particular reason, inquired. Dipper frowned in confusion and answered. "Two?"
"Wrong! It's a couple! Get it? Couple? AHAAHAAAHAA!"
Wendy, Rosie and Soos stood at where they were like living statues, muted. Dipper put his hand on his sister's forehead. "Are you sick?"
"No!" Mabel cheerfully replied. I'm so crazyjumpyloudhahasunshinecandyhypersugarhigh!"
Dipper massaged his forehead, sighing. "R-ight."
The twelve year old looked at his sister. "How much did you ate?"
"Well! ALL IN THE SUGARY CANDY BARREL!" Mabel hyperactively answered. Dipper slowly glanced at Soos with narrowed eyes and complete annoyance. "You shouldn't give her a whole barrel of candy."
Soos hunched his shoulders. "Sorry, dude. I mean, it's her favorite."
Wendy sighed. "Dipper, dude. We really don't have much time right now. Let's just practice already."
Mabel jumped into the scene. "And I know the perfect people that can give this shack…" She did a waving gesture for emphasis. "… a new makeover."
"Uh… huh." Rosie murmured almost uncertainly. Dipper folded his arms. "Okay?"
Mabel grinned widely from ear to ear, so widely that Dipper found it inhumanly impossible. "My makeover buddies: Candy and Grenda and the now-kind popular girl Pacifica Northwest!"
"Wait," Wendy interjected, "I thought I heard that this popular girl in Gravity Falls tease and look down on you guys?"
Soos chimed in, "And I still remember her liking my W-neck." He paused. "OH YES!"
Dipper explained. "Well, call me crazy but, she is nice, though. It's her parents that's to blame."
Mabel smirked. "And she totally knows how to turn this gift shop into something fancy! Because, oh my gosh just look at her mansion! Everything's fancy! Fancy floors, fancy plant…" She gasped. ".. even a fancy man!"
Wendy looked unsure about this, but it's not wrong to give a try, right? She nodded her head and she and Soos went upstairs to practice.
Mabel ran to the telephone. "Imma gonna call Candy, Grenda and Pacifica. Today's gonna be wild!" She did a lion-like roar, which made Dipper stiffened. Ugh, when will this candy spell wear off?
He felt a tap on his shoulder and he turned, and saw Rosie with a stunning bass guitar. He was quite astonished when a thought spanned in his mind. I didn't see her carrying a guitar case when we walked. Where did it come from?
Now this made his suspicion about Rosie grew.
"We're going to practice. I think you better practice right now before this… whatever buddies came over." The mysterious girl told him. Dipper nodded slowly. "O-kay."
Rosie nodded and started to walk off when Dipper halted her. "Uh… Rosie!"
The girl turned.
His suspicion and curiosity had took the better of him. "Are you really okay? You looked blue and once we arrived here, you looked fine."
"I am fine." Rosie replied casually, but Dipper could see the lie behind her eyes. Something's up with her alright. He felt that he couldn't trust her. What if the rumors were true? What if she's a supernatural monster that's hiding behind this body? He originates to find out, if he receives subtle hints and evidence.
An hour later, Dipper, Wendy, Rosie and Soos went downstairs to the gift shop after their enervating practice. Once they arrived there, they glimpsed Mabel and her makeover buddies: Candy and Grenda with the popular girl Pacifica Northwest and she seemed to bring her friends along too.
Mabel squealed in frequencies that only dogs should hear. "I'm so glad that you guys came! Now let's turned this shack into something out of the ordinary!"
"I brought my friends along too. They are great at designing." Pacifica explained proudly and she seemed to change a lot after that ghostly events. Wendy, Soos and Rosie joined the group while Dipper walked towards Pacifica. "Hey."
"Hey." The Northwest girl replied. Dipper scratched at the back of his head. "So, what happened when the party ends? Did your parents-"
Pacifica interjected quickly. "Well, they did scold me for bringing the townsfolk to the party but thanks to you, I learnt how to talk back to my stupid parents. I'm not afraid anymore." She told him vehemently. Dipper smiled. "That's good to hear."
"I heard that you guys were forming a band to save this shack," Pacifica said. "And I'm going to help you in any way I can."
Dipper smiled. "Thanks."
"Hey, are you going to help us to pick out some designing supplies to change this shack for the concert?" Pacifica asked, inviting him. Dipper hunched his shoulders. "I don't see why not." Pacifica looked excited. "Cool! Now, I need a notebook to list down all the stuff that we need to design this shack."
Dipper nodded. He called his twin sister. "Mabel!"
His sister appeared in a flash in front of them. "Yes, bro-bro?"
"Can you give me a notebook? I'm going with Pacifica to buy some designing supplies for the concert." He told her. Mabel's eyes sparkled. "Oh my gosh! The first time I see my brother going shopping! Now we can go to the mall whenever we want!"
Dipper hesitated. "Uh… not that. Anyway, can you give me a notebook?"
"What's the magic word?" Mabel challenged, giving him beaming eyes. Dipper sighed heavily and rolled his eyes. "Please?" He groaned. Mabel grinned widely and swooshed to the 'EMPLOYEES ONLY' door. In a few minutes, she returned with a notebook in her hands. She handed it to her brother. "Here you go, bro-bro."
"Thanks." Dipper smiled in gratitude when suddenly…
"FACEBOOK-ED!"
Mabel pushed the notebook from below, causing it to hit Dipper right on the face. She laughed. "Hahaha! Get it? Facebook-ed? Like, facepalm?" She laughed almost uncontrollably and Dipper didn't seem to stand it as he heaved a sigh. Pacifica frowned amusingly. "What's up with your sister?"
Dipper semi-crossly responded. "Don't even ask."
In a few hours, Dipper, Pacifica and her friends returned to the gift shop and the crew started designing the gift shop with neon lights that come in assorted colors. They also hung party balloons and lights outside the shack. Mabel, Candy, Grenda, Pacifica, Dipper and Pacifica's friends were hanging the lights.
Mabel happily placed the party balloons when she spotted two boys gazing at them. She whispered to Candy. "Candy, look, look! There's a cute boy over there!" She turned and exclaimed loudly at the two boys. "Hey, cute boy!"
Pacifica giggled and shook her head whilst Dipper facepalmed.
Afterwards, Soos and Wendy left the shack and went to the outskirts of town to stick posters of the concert so the whole residents including tourists know about it and can come over. Dipper then informed Pacifica and her friends, Candy and Grenda to continue their designing while he and the band practice their music.
Mabel tried practicing and developing her voice and her vocal cord. She also attempted to yell when the notes of the song rose. She did this several times until it came out smooth and perfect.
While Wendy and Soos printed out music sheets for repetition, Dipper and Rosie rehearsed their different guitars in the attic. Dipper was amazed that Rosie knew how to play the bass guitar very well. The harmonics were very well-pronounced. Dipper tried his best but his harmonics were less-pronounced on several attempts. Rosie offered to help him with this, which Dipper gladly accepted.
Afterwards, Soos practiced with his keyboard and he already knew how to play it with the assistance from the music CD that he bought earlier. Wendy, who went to drum sessions, played the drums with ease. The drum classes were worth it and she totally ruled at it.
In the evening, the gang went downstairs and looked at the shack in awe. It looked outstanding for the concert. The colored spotlights for the stage were stunning and the party balloons and lights concealed the whole room with multitude colors. Mabel pressed her cheeks with her eyes beaming like anime eyes. "This is… party heaven."
Soos whistled in awe. "People here really know how to decorate."
Subsequently, Rosie spoke to Mabel. "Hey, since we formed a band, what don't we give a name for it?"
"Oh yeah!" Mabel enthused. "We never thought about that!"
Soos raised his hand. "Let's called this band, 'The Five Awesomeness'!"
Wendy twitched her right eye. "Uh, let's debunk that." Soos lowered her hand, dejected. Mabel suggested. "I know! Love Patrol Alpha!"
Dipper gave a look and put his hands on his hips. "Seriously? I still haven't agree with that name!"
"Hehehe."
Wendy was in thought for a moment before she suggested to the others. "Hmm… the Mystery Shack owned this band, right? So why don't we call us, 'The Mystery Band'?"
"Ouu… classy!" Mabel enthused. Dipper smiled. "Not bad."
Rosie clapped her hands. "That's our band name then."
"Woohoo!" Soos and Mabel cheered.
Suddenly, Stanford Pines walked into the room while drinking Pitt Cola. He momentarily spit the cola once he spotted the shack looking entirely different. "Holy spit-take! What in the world happen here?"
The whole gang gasped.
Mabel waved her hands. "Grunkle Stan, just calm yourself down. This is a surprise for you. So yeah. Surprise!"
Soos threw party streamers and confetti in the air. "Surprise!" He looked at the others who were standing, doing nothing in awkward silence. He asked. "Am I too early?"
"What did you kids done to this place?" Stan retorted. He held a glare to the crew before he spotted Pacifica and her friends in the background. "And what is she doing here?"
"Grunkle Stan, we care to explain." Dipper told him and Mabel added nervously. "Y-yeah!" She laughed timidly. "We were… we were organizing a party! Yeah! Umm… we…" She stuttered, unable to lie as her whole body started shaking.
Stan tilted his head.
Mabel bit her lip and glanced at the others who looked like they had sealed their lips. It's her to do the talking. Great. She clenched her fists. "Actually, no. The truth is, since we were given only three days to save the shack, we suggested to form a band that I believe, could save it and our lives. You know how much money can bands get?"
Stan locked his gaze on her and listened intently. She went on, "In the first day, we were discussing on how to save the shack and the second day, which is today, we searched for a band member who can play the bass guitar and luckily we found one." She pointed to her left side and there stood Rosie and the girl dipped her head.
Mabel continued. "Afterwards, I called my makeover buddies," She pointed to Candy, Grenda, Pacifica and her friends, "to design the shack into this for the concert. We -" She gestured to her and the crew. "– however, rehearsed for the concert tonight during the day. And now, here we are. We wanted this to be surprise and we really don't want to lose the shack and your job, including Soos's and Wendy's."
Soos and Wendy both nodded. Stan looked astonished and his eyes were wide. "Wow, kids. I am surprised."
Mabel looked up at Stan, seemingly dumbfounded by her great uncle's words. Dipper and the others were indeed astounded too. Stan looked proudly at the crew. "Thanks kids. I know you guys wanted to save the shack badly and your family must be proud of you guys. Yeap, I'll admit. I have a soft side somewhere around here."
Mabel smiled in astonishment and happily embraced her great uncle. Stan sighed. "Yup, there goes the hug."
Then the whole crew except for Rosie, hugged Stan. In a few minutes, he groaned. "Okay, that's enough." He gently pushed the crew from him. He smiled at them. "Now, you kids do whatever you need to do. The Mystery Shack is coming back, baby!"
The whole gang cheered.
The concert finally begun. Hundreds of residents and tourists from families and friends, came for the concert and paid for it. Stan was very delighted. Pacifica and her friends too came over to watch her new friends performing.
In the backstage, Mabel and the band were preparing themselves. Dipper and Rosie were holding their guitars while Soos held his keyboard and Wendy held her drumsticks. Mabel took a peek at the curtains and glimpsed hundreds of people waiting on their chairs for the performance. Her heart beat fast. She turned to the others. "Okay, guys. This is like what we practice. Any questions?"
Soos raised up his hand.
"Yes, Soos?"
"Am I sweating? 'Cause I don't know that I am." While looking at Soos, he was indeed sweating like a pig. Mabel pinched the bridge of her noise and she started trembling. Dipper placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Mabel, are you okay?"
Mabel suddenly freaked out. "Yes, I'm okay! I'm perfectly okay! Do I look okay?" She asked him, as she started trembling and laughing nervously. Dipper rubbed her back. "Calm down."
His twin sister heaved a heavy sigh. "Look, you guys don't need to worry about it. People are less focused on the instruments. They are looking at the singer! Which is me!"
Wendy placed her hands on her hips. "Hey! Where is the Mabel I always seen every day? The Mabel who is overall confident, optimistic, happy and rocked the party all night? Where is the Mabel who definitely loves to sing and ruled the party? Where is she?"
That give some motivation to Mabel. She slowly looked up. Soos added, "Where is the Mabel that is always goofy and loves to poke my stomach? The Mabel who loves bedazzling my body to form a Disco Soos Ball? The one who is always there for me, as a true friend?"
Rosie too added, "Well, I definitely didn't know you that much, but all I know, you're goofy, jumpy and the Queen of candy and silliness. You made me smile when I'm down, and you never judge me."
Dipper smiled at all of this before he added. "And where's my sister who always help me with my problems, and joined me with all the mysteries, adventures and cracking the codes? Where's my Closest Ally and Best Friend?"
That completely touched her heart. This motivation encouraged her to be stronger and seeing this supports came from her friends and her brother was more… amazing. Wait, that's not the word. This kind of feeling is different and she found it hard to describe it. This feeling is entirely indescribable. She smiled appreciatively and hugged her brother in the process. "Thank you guys for having faith in me and believe in me, including you, bro-bro." She pulled away the hug and Dipper returned the smile.
The band then heard Grenda declaring the audience that the performance is starting and they both started preparing.
They heard clapping from the audiences, and Mabel slowly closed her eyes. This is it, she thought. The moment I've been waiting for. This is the only moment and only chance we had to save the shack. I did this for the sake of my friends and family. That is my hope. Tomorrow's the day where the shack will be gone forever and I will not allow it to happen.
The curtains moved away, and the audiences clapped when they saw the group.
The Mystery Band will not lose this chance.
A/N: Here you go, guys! Finally, this chapter is finished! Also, about the son of the beach thing, honestly I really hate saying bad words. But this one inspired from my friend. A friend of mine who is not part of the gang has a potty mouth and she said that son of a female dog word to a guy. The guy got confused and thought that she call him a son of a beach. It's so funny!
And, I'm sorry to tell you that I can't post two chapters in a single day because I need your help! I hadn't decided what song Mabel will sing in the performance. I searched the YouTube for songs but I can't find a song that fits the band performing for the first time. So, I need you guys to give me song suggestions so I can put Mabel singing the song you suggested in the next chapter. If you guys suggested real fast, I will post the chapter real quick! Thanks for reading and I will see my favorite viewers in the next chapter! Also guys, PREPARE FOR THE APOCALYPSE! *quickly hides in the basement*
