Yello' everyone! Anyone good? Anyways, this chapter contains some mysteries and a bit of a climax at the end. It's a little break for the band after their hard work.

On to the story!

Dipper and Rosie rushed out of the school building where they see a group of students gathering around, talking amongst themselves about the horrific incident earlier. Dipper spotted his sister Mabel, Pacifica and Heather's friends at the far back, a few feet away from the crowd.

He ran to them with Rosie following behind. Once he approached them, he questioned. "What's going on?"

"Why isn't anyone in class?" Rosie added, feeling apprehensive. Pacifica crossed her arms, shrugging. "The principle ordered all the students to wait outside." Mabel nodded and her gaze averted to her brother. "Dipper, what happened? Why did Heather suddenly retch like that? It looked... inhuman." She mumbled.

Confusion struck Dipper like a hammer to a bell. He scratched the back of his head. "I... don't know. It seems surreal and something I'd never seen before."

Pacifica cocked an eyebrow. "But you two knew the supernatural too much. Sure you know who might have caused this."

"Sorry, I really don't. What do you think about it, Rosie?"

"Umm..." The girl hesitated, biting her lip. She cannot tell them, can she? If she does, what would they think? Do they know the dream demon Bill Cipher? She fought the temptation to tell them. If she told them, who knows what Bill will do. It wasn't part of the deal. So she better keep her mouth shut and go along with it. "I don't know. Maybe it was an allergy or something."

Brianna, one of Heather's friends, frowned. "There's no such thing. Heather isn't allergic to anything." Stephanie toyed with a lock of her blonde hair. "It could be something else. What are we going to do now?" Chloe shook her head, silent tears streaking her face.

Rosie bit her lip hard, knowing that this is her fault. She felt so useless. Inside the entryway of the school, the two parademics appeared, talking earnestly to the principle.

"Come on," Chloe said, wiping her eyes and pushing herself through the murmuring crowd. "I want to know what they're saying."

"... no obvious signs that we can detect at the moment." The first parademic was explaining.

The principle looked grave. "You mean you had no idea at all what caused Heather's death?"

"Not without a post-mortem, I'm afraid," The paramedic replied. "Including Miss Evan."

The principle heaved a heavy sigh as he massaged his forehead. He turned to Miss Kenton, Mabel's art teacher, who was standing nearby. Dipper could see that her skin looked grey and she was shivering. "I think that under the circumstances, the school should have the rest of the day off."

"But I didn't want time off," Chloe objected. "Time off wasn't going to bring Heather back."

The principle gave her an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. It's for the best."

The students began taking their backpacks and stuff from class before leaving the school. Dipper, Mabel, Rosie, Pacifica and Heather's friends were the only ones in the school compound.

Chloe cannot take her mind off the incident. "Why wouldn't they let us stay?" She said crossly. "Surely the police would want witnesses, and we were the ones who knew her best." She kicked a crumpled hamburger carton on the pavement. "I mean, what's the good of being at home?"

Dipper, Mabel, Rosie and Pacifica both exchanged apologetic glances. Stephanie nodded, looking miserable. "I still can't believe it happened. Heather was always so healthy. I can't even remember the last time she was off school sick."

"That's what I meant," agreed Chloe. There has to be a reason why she suddenly collapsed like that. Whatever caused her death must have happened at school!

Dipper stepped towards them. "Don't worry, girls. Mabel and I will try to get the bottom of it." His twin cheered, rising her arms high. "Yeah! Wait... what?"

Brianna's eyes widened. "You'll do that? For us?"

Mabel raised a finger. "I don't think I agree - " She was cut off by a hug from Chloe who embraced the twins. "Thank you so much!" She cried. "I'm glad that we have you two to count on!" She pulled away the hug and joined with her friends. Stephanie smiled. "Well, we wish you good luck. We have faith in you."

After a wave, the three girls wandered off, heading home together. Mabel sternly glances at her brother. Dipper caught her gaze, frowning. "What?"

"Dipper! We have a band to take care of! We don't have time for 'mystery-hunting'." she said, emphazing the two words. Pacifica twitched her lip. "She's right, Dipper."

Dipper stared at her. What did she mean? Pacifica pulled out a flyer from her backpack and handed it to him. "I was planning to give you this since your band is immensely popular." The younger twin examined it, the huge maroon words that stand out on the flyer read, 'Battle of the Bands'.

"The Northwests organized this competition once a year. My parents said that there are many talented bands this year so they are making it more challenging by inviting other bands outside the town," Pacifica explained. "I thought you guys might have a chance at this. The prize is a Northwest Golden Trophy and a one million dollar cash."

Rosie's mouth gaped open. "One million dollars?" She echoed. Pacifica nodded. "Yup. I wish you good luck. I'm heading home now. See ya guys later." Right on time, her limo arrived with her butler opening the door for her. She climbed into the car and smiled. "Let me know if you guys wanna enter." She said before closing the car door. The limo drove away and was now out of sight.

"AAAAAAAHHHHH!" Mabel screamed, causing Dipper and Rosie to flinch out of shock. The brunette pulled her hair, panic and anxiety clearly shown on her features. "THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT DIPPER! WE GOTTA REHEARSE FAST!"

Dipper thought he could hear his eardrums exploded from her ear-piercing scream. He tried to reassure her. "But Mabel, the competition is only," he looked at the flyer briefly before glancing back at her, "three weeks away. We have plenty of time to rehearse but right now, we gotta help Chloe, Brianna and Stephanie on finding the cause of Heather's death. You don't want Heather's death to be meaningless, do you?"

"I know, Dipper but the prize is one million dollars! You do know how Stan will feel about that?" Mabel protested. Her twin narrowed his gaze and arched an eyebrow. "We promised them, right?"

After his response, Mabel was left speechless. He's right. They've already promised and Mabel was never the one to break certain promises. She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Alright, you got me there. Fine, let's try to find the cause but if we don't find anything, I called dibs on our song choices for the competition."

"Deal." Dipper smiled and Mabel can't help but grinned. Rosie forced herself to smile but it lasted only a second when she saw an all-too familiar shadow hovering behind the twins before it disappeared, followed by an evil cackle inside Rosie's mind.

Dipper frowned worriedly. "Rosie, you're alright? You look a bit pale."

The girl shook herself before meeting her gaze with his. She smiled weakly. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Mabel pulled a packet of gummy koalas from her backpack and threw one in her mouth, muttering, "So, bwhere do bwe look?" Her voice was muffled slightly and Dipper narrowed his eyes into slits. "Mabel, stop talking when your mouth is full."

"Blargh! I know! You're not my mom so you don't need to remind me!" Mabel grumbled, chewing three to four gummy koalas in her mouth. Dipper tapped his chin after reconsidering her question. "Hmm... what could cause frothing in the mouth and writhing?" He took out his Journal from his vest, flipping the pages readily.

Mabel looked at the Journal over from his shoulder. "I don't think it's related to the supernatural. I saw a documentary once last week called Killer Diseases: The Hidden Enemy. I don't think you were there with me. Well, according to the programme, sudden deaths happen quite a lot. They're caused by virus lying dormant in the body. People go on for years without any symptoms at all but then one day, something can just trigger the disease and when it does, well..."

Dipper shuddered at the thought. Is there actually a virus like that? "It doesn't seem very likely, Mabel. I mean, I've never heard of it."

"It happens," Mabel said earnestly. "I reckoned it's one of those killer diseases that's to blame. After all, if the paramedics don't know what caused it, then what other explanation is there?"

Dipper put on his thinking pose, which included tapping his foot on the ground. "It could be some rabies disease... that's it!" He exclaimed as an idea springs to his mind. "Let's go check out in the library. There might be some unusual disease we can find." He pulled his sister, calling Rosie to follow them.

The trio finally made to the library which also consisted of five computers that visitors could use for research. Three seats are empty and Dipper sat on one before powering the computer. Mabel and Rosie, however, were reading books about diseases and noted anything that is similar.

When the computer came to life, Dipper clicked on the browser and typed about diseases related to frothing and retching.

Mabel and Rosie read the books, their eyes moved from left to right in each sentence. Mabel set down the book with a groan, feeling hopeless. "Blargh! There's nothing here!"

The librarian hushed her, putting a finger to her lips, telling her to be quiet. Mabel closed her mouth with her hand, chuckling nervously before sighing in defeat. Rosie gazed at her. "Mabel, we can't just give up. We're doing this for Heather, remember?"

Mabel nodded slowly. "Yeah, even though me and Heather already buried the hatchet, could we just let this be and move on?"

"It's pointless if that so. It would be okay if her death means something. But she died without a cause and that's meaningless. C'mon, Mabel." Rosie told her with an encouraging voice.

The brunette twitched her lip, taking a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. "Alright. For Heather." She said with a smile. She started reading back the book she set down and began searching. There's nothing about diseases that could cause frothing in the mouth. In fact, if it wasn't a disease, could it be... poison?

Mabel's eyes widened, wondering if this could be true. She stood up from her chair, making Rosie flinched, before running towards her brother whose eyes were glued to the screen.

"Dipper!" She tackled him off the chair to the ground, which she received numerous brief glances from the people in the library. Dipper sat up and shot her a scolding look, rubbing his painful head. "Mabel, what on earth are you doing?! I'm in the middle of searching the disease!"

Mabel tugged to his shirt, looking at him in the eye. "Dipper! I think I found a clue!" The younger twin pushed her away gently before motioning her to continue. She took a deep breath. "Alright, I've searched the whole book for the right disease but I couldn't find any. Then, a thought came over me: What if it's poison? It could be, Dipper! It could be!" She said quickly, tugging to his shirt again.

"Okay, okay! Calm down. I'll try to find it." He stood up, with his sister following shortly after, and scooted to the computer seat he sat before being tackled by his sister. He sat on it with Mabel looking at the screen over his shoulder.

Dipper trawled the Internet for clues. He had to find out what disease, poison (as what Mabel said) or something could caused this unimaginable death. Mabel glanced anxiously at him, feeling her stomach churning with worry. Sweat beaded to Dipper's temples. He hit the search engine button for what felt like the hundredth time, and suddenly something was there, right in front of him on the screen. A chill ran down his spine and he felt like an icy hand was gripping the back of his neck.

'Arsine's Manganese; if taken internally causes constrictions of the airways, blue lips, convulsions, frothing of the mouth and, if taken in large enough quantities, death. This can be found in large commercial businesses and laboratories.'

Dipper and Mabel looked at each other in horror. His sister was right. It is poison. Did someone deliberately poisoned Heather with this? Who on earth could that be?

The younger twin printed out the article of the poison and he and Mabel gathered around with Rosie. After some explanation, the girl's eyes widened. "Are you serious?"

"It seems so. The poison's description tells the exact symptoms Heather was experiencing. It could be true." Dipper expound. Rosie blinked hard, realizing they got it wrong. She cannot tell them, can she? "How can you be sure? Does our school laboratory has one?"

Mabel curled her lip. "Then we have to search for it!"

"But maybe not right now," Dipper interjected. "We have to tell Wendy, Soos and Grunkle Stan about the competition we're going to enter. We can check the poison out tomorrow."

"Oh yeah! I forgot about that!" Mabel enthused, before grabbing both Dipper and Rosie's hands. "We gotta go now and surprise them! Can't wait to see the looks on their faces!"

The trio headed out of the library when Rosie suddenly felt a cold breeze rushing past her. She looked up the sky only to see the Sun shining so bright with clouds scudding about. Why is the air cold then? It felt like ice particles stinging through her skin. She shivered and saw Dipper and Mabel ahead of her. She tried to catch up with them.

The pavement she put her foot onto produced soft noises like a clump of snow, which was strange. The air surrounding her grew colder by a milisecond. The chilly wind blew through her, causing her hair to billow with the wind. She was confused that Dipper and Mabel seemed fine. Her stomach was tightening into a knot of fear and she couldn't untie it.

Finally they arrived to the Mystery Shack which Dipper and Mabel immediately ran inside once they set their eyes on it. Rosie followed them shortly after but halted a few meters later after seeing a shadow going inside the shack.

No, you just can't, Rosie thought in fear. She ran inside the shack and saw Dipper and Mabel safely inside with Wendy and Soos. Mabel had talked to Soos and Wendy about the competition which they're excited about it while Dipper was calling Stan. There's no response from the old man and soon, Dipper got worried.

"Soos, where's Stan?"

"Dunno, dudes. He was in the gift shop while I was outside scorching my eyes by staring at the Sun. When I went inside, the old man's gone missing!"

"Maybe he was in his room." Wendy added, reassuring them. "I don't think so." Dipper though aloud, tapping on his chin. "Let's check outside!"

The gang streaked outside and surprisingly, found nothing out of the ordinary. Dipper searched every part of the exterior of the shack but found no trace of Stanley Pines anywhere. "Stan, where are you?" He muttered desperately.

"Well, well, well," A creepy yet relentless voice echoes through the area. "Looking for this?"

That's when the younger twin realized the world has turned into a monochromatic gray that gave a great sense of dread and foreboding. No, it can't be...?

"Yeesh, Pine Tree, you really take a long time for realization to hit you."

Dipper, Mabel and the others turned around in shock when they glimpsed who it was. Bill Cipher, Dipper seethed. Mabel's brows turned to a fierce frown. "What are you doing here, you isosceles monster?!"

Rosie stared at Mabel in astonishment. They met Bill before? When? Then she realized that the two knew much of the supernatural that she didn't need to question if they know any monster. One thing is, what's Bill doing here? Wendy pointed a finger to the triangle creature. "You don't belong here!"

Dipper nodded fiercely but then his eyes completely widened to the point it's incapable anymore after seeing Stan's fez twirling around on the dream demon's finger. "And what did you do to Grunkle Stan?! You better not hurt him!"

"Relax kid, I didn't even lay a finger to your pathetic 'Grunkle'," he said, making air quotes. "Really, that's the worst name I'd ever heard."

Dipper shot the demon a determined look. "We stopped you twice, now we're going to stop you thrice!" Mabel nodded fiercely. "Yeah! You're going down, triangle guy!" Wendy and Soos agreed, both standing in a fighting stance, preparing for any nasty tricks the demon will uphold. Rosie stared at them with concern lit her gaze, unsure if they can won again. She was sure Bill is here because of the deal...

"Hah! Fat chance!" Bill gloated. "This is what I'm actually here for. What I'm really doing here is... YOU!" His voice changed into a deeper tone, his eye flashing bright red as he extended his lanky arm and grabbed Dipper by the shirt which caught the boy by surprise before pulling him close.

"Dipper!" Mabel cried, trying to make a grab for her brother with flailing arms. Rosie stiffened. Bill, what are you doing?! The gang watched helplessly as Bill's fierce gaze were locked with Dipper's fearful ones. "With you gettin' in my way, there's no chance for me to get to the portal in the basement. I got ya uncle, now it's your turn!"

Dipper raised a trembling eyebrow at one sentence that was puzzling him. "Portal? What portal? What are you gonna do to me?!"

"Haha! Geez Pine Tree, man I thought you're a curious one," Bill chortled. "I'm just trying to mess up your mind. It'll hurt really, really, really... bad."

Mabel reconsidered the demon's words and feared for the danger of her brother's life. She couldn't stop the constant beating of her heart that was pounding to her chest. Wendy felt enraged as she balled her hands into tight fists. "No! You leave him alone!" She prepared herself to lunge at the demon but Soos managed to halt her.

Bill watched the teen boiling with anger when suddenly, his hand ignited with blue flames and the fire started burning and licking Dipper's shirt as it made its way to his face.

The gang gasped and Rosie's heart missed a beat. "Bill, stop!" She leaped and managed to hold onto the floating demon's other arm. The flames diminished by shock as his eye widened. "Kid, get off of me!"

Rosie glowered into the demon's eye, gritting her teeth. "We had a deal!"

Dipper widened his eyes. "What?!"

"You promised me to cure my parents and not hurting Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and Soos if I allowed you to kill any souls you desired, that is Heather and Miss Evan!" Rosie continued to bellow.

Dipper couldn't believe his ears. "What are you saying?!"

"Ahahahah!" Bill laughed coldly, sending a chill down Rosie's spine. "Listen here, ever heard about 'not to make a deal with the devil'?"

Rosie shivered. She knew what he was implying. "No, don't tell me you - what did you do to my parents?!"

Bill laughed, moving the two around like rag dolls who had their hands clutched to both of the demon's arms. Dipper gritted his teeth as he struggled to break free from the dream demon's tight clasp, his legs scrambled for a foothold. Bill's eye was focused on her. "Let's just say that those two weaklings try their hardest to survive but bad luck seemed to win. Can't you believe that it felt good to see them suffer?"

Rosie thought her eyes could come out of her sockets due to how wide it is. Bill, you couldn't...

"It's funny how dumb you are!" Bill exclaimed, shoving Rosie off his arm resulting the girl to land hard on the ground. Mabel, Wendy and Soos rushed to her aid. Bill moved his attention to Dipper. If Bill had a mouth, Dipper could tell he was smirking wide. "This going to hurt you a little bit!"

"Let my friend go!" Rosie pleaded, her eyes brimming with tears.

Bill rolled his eye in amusement. "Ya think begging will let me to release him? Your hopes are too little, kid." At that exact moment, his hand erupted to blue flames which caused Dipper's vest and shirt to slowly rip apart like burnt paper.

Rosie had lost it. "No, you stop!" She jumped to her feet, running towards the demon. "Rosie, no!" Mabel called, chasing toward the girl with Wendy and Soos following. Rosie jumped to tackle Bill as her eyes met with the demon's calm gaze before everything went white.

A series of screams echoed through a quiet place as Dipper, Mabel, Wendy, Rosie and Soos fell from the sky before landing on a hard ground with a painful thud.

Moans escaped from the gang as they rubbed parts of their body that are hurting from the fall. Dipper grabbed his hat that has fallen off and placed it back on his head. "Where are we?"

The gang opened their eyes only to see a place beyond their imagination. The area surrounding them was desolate with sandy air filling in the sunny skies. Mountains could be seen from afar. In the middle is a huge clearing with tall places where spectators watched on either side of it. There are broken small pillars and structures laying around. At the far back of the clearing is a platform where people are punished to be hanged for their crimes. It seemed quiet and peaceful.

"We're in a some sort of a battle arena from the donkey years." Mabel muttered out her thoughts. Soos scratched his head. "Or a place where they performed a donkey-year dance on the platform and people watched it."

Mabel giggled. "Nice one, Soos."

Dipper tried to calm himself down. "Alright, guys. Bill must have sent us to another dimension, thinking we would be trapped here forever. But that won't happen if we try to find a way out."

"What is this place anyway?" Wendy inquired. Rosie looked around, biting her lip apprehensively. Suddenly, they heard an echoing growl not far from them. The gang faced at the platform where they thought the growl came from. "What was that?" Dipper asked.

Soos curled his lip. "It sounds like a Cerberus."

"Maybe a lot more dangerous than that." Rosie cut in. Subsequently, the ground began shaking, causing fear to grew in them. A few minutes later, silence filled in the space. Soos wiped beads of sweat from his forehead. "Phew! I think we're safe."

Birds suddenly started to fly off from below behind the platform. In less than five seconds, a giant creature leaped out where the birds were.

"Might wanna rethink that."

The large creature landed on the clearing with a loud thud, creating cracks where it stood. The fifty-feet creature spread out its forty-length stony wings, casting a large shadow over the gang. The creature has stone armors on its claws and its chest, stone spikes on its scaly spine and horns protruding from its head. The creature revealed itself to be a ginormous dragon as its piercing eyes fell upon the gang.

Mabel, Rosie, Wendy and Soos's jaws almost hit the floor, their eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. Dipper turned to them. "Okay, who knows how to defeat this creature?"

No response.

"Anyone? No? Okay, we're dead."
