I get to the lab and straight away, I see Stella. I walk up to her with a smile on my face. "Stella!" Stella turns around and sees me. She smiles, runs over and hugs me. "Layla! God, I never thought I'd see you here again, whatcha doin' here?" Stella said, I smiled and said "I'm here to start my new job." Stella looked at me in confusion but smiled and said "Really? So Mac did hire you? I put in a good word for you but I didn't know he hired you?" I smiled and said "Well he did and I'm suppose to start today, do you know where Mac is?" she said "He's out in the field right now."

A girl then runs up to us. "Hey, you must be Layla, I'm Lindsey." I smiled and stuck my hand out towards her "Hey, yeah that's me." Lindsey smiled at me and said "Good, you and I are working with Mac today, if you're ready we'll go now" I then said "Yep I'm ready, I just need a kit." Lindsey then said "Your kit is in your locker, I'll show you where it is." I smiled and said "Ok Thanks."

Lindsey then starts walking towards the locker room as I turn towards Stella and say "I'll see you later Stel." Stella smiled and said Yeah see ya."

Stella watched as I walked away with a smile on her face and said to herself "You're in for a surprise when you get there, Layla."

Lindsey and I went to the locker room, collected my kit and headed to the crime scene. When we got there, the street was crowded with people. We got out the car and I couldn't believe my eyes. Don Flack walked up to us.

Don looked at Lindsey and said "Mac's around back with the DOA." He turned around and noticed me. He looked at me in shock and said "Lay? Is that you?" I smiled and said "Yep, In the flesh."

Don then smiled and said "God, it's been what? 11 years?" I looked at him and said "Yep." He then said "And you're a CSI now?" I smiled and said "Yeah after Cassie died I decided on being a CSI, when my dad died it just pushed me even more to become one."

He looked at me in shock and said "John died?" My smile disappeared as I said "Yeah couple of months after you left, he got shot in a shoot out." he looked down at the ground then looked back up at me then said "I'm so sorry Layla."

There was silence after Don said that and Lindsey finally broke it by saying "Well let's get to the crime scene." Don and I nodded and headed in the direction of the crime scene.

Don then looked at me as we walked and said "I'm sorry I left and never saw you again." I smiled at him and said "It's fine. I know how it is being in the academy and being a cop." Don then smiled at me and asked "Can I take you out to dinner, for old times sake?" I smiled and said "Sure I would like that."

He then smiled and said "Great I'll pick you up tonight around 8. You can give me your address after the shift. That ok?" I smiled and said "It's a date." Don just laughed as I smile.

Lindsey then says "It's quite a shindig." Don and I smiled at Lindsey as Don said "Sunday block parties. Springtime in New York City." She looked at us and said "Right in the street, huh?" Don then said "Where do they have 'em in Montana?" She smiled and said "Wyoming."

We all smiled as we walked. Once we got into the building, we saw who I assumed was Mac with the DOA taking pictures. Don then said "Security guard. Darwin Judge. We got the call 'cause he missed his check-in."

Mac looked at me and said "You're our new CSI?" I smiled and said "Yep, Layla Riley." as I stuck my hand out towards Mac. He smiled and shook my hand and said "Mac Taylor."

He then looked down at the DOA and said "Stab wound to the stomach. No obvious trace of the attacker." He handed the camera to Lindsey then looked up the stairs as he said "But we do have a blood trail."

Lindsey then looked at the scene and said "There might be some latent shoe prints. I'm gonna go get the electrostatic dust lifter." Mac nodded to Lindsey then looked towards Don and I and said "We'll see where these blood drops take us."

We then followed Mac up the stairs, Don allowed me to go first. I smiled at him in thanks. WE all shone our flashlights on the droplets of blood following it. We noticed the blood goes through the door on the 2nd floor.

Mac then said "Guard came through this door." We then carried on through the door onto the 2nd floor. We looked around as Mac said "Quiet in here." Don then said "This place is a brokerage firm. No work on Sundays." Mac walked along the hall and said "Must be nice, huh?" Don and I both said "Yeah."

We followed the blood trail along the hall. We found a ladder and a plant tipped over. Don then said "Guard put up a fight."

Mac looked up to the ceiling, I followed his line of sight. The hatch in the ceiling was off and there was a bag in it. Mac then lifted up the ladder, climbed up it and looked inside the hatch. He then unzipped the bag and looked inside. He quickly got down off the ladder.

Mac then looked at us and said "Check the building. Get everyone out. There's a bomb. Hit the alarm." As soon as he said that, my eyes grew wide. Don and I looked at each other. Don then turned and hit the alarm. We then ran through the door to the stairs.

Mac then said "Call central! No radios!" As we ran up the stairs to get everyone out the building Don called central "Suspicious package. 6-2-1 Greenwich. A bomb. Yeah, a bomb."

We quickly ran through the door to the floor above us. We then started knocking on all the doors to get everyone to get out the building. Someone then said "Is this some kind of drill?" as Mac knocked on a door shouting "Hello? Get outside now!"

We shouted at people who were still in the building, just standing about like nothing was happening. I walk up to a woman standing outside her room and said "How many people are here?" She then said "Two dozen, maybe more."

I then looked at someone walking out the room and said "Out! Get outside ok?" I then heard Don shouting "Go, go!" Mac then called Lindsey, She said "Monroe." Mac then said "Get everyone away from the building. We have a bomb. Get everyone away from the building!"

We went up to the next floor to make sure everyone was out. We were checking all the door handles which all seemed to be locked. Mac then asked Don "Clear?" Don nodded then Mac said to me "Clear?" I nodded at him as he said "All right. Come on, let's go."

We walked towards the door to the stairs. We just reached the stairs as we heard a voice say "What's going on?" We turned around and saw a guy with headphones on. We walked towards him with Don in front shouting "Hey, get the hell out of here!" The bomb then exploded, Don had covered my body with his just in time for the bomb to explode.
