Chapter 12
Bloom awoke to the sight of Alfea's infirmary once again. This time only Aela was in the room.
'This is becoming a bad habit.' Bloom thought to herself as she sat herself up, hissing at the sharp pain in her shoulder. Aela seemed to jump awake in hearing the fire fairy moving.
"How are you dear?" Aela asked as she moved to sit next to Bloom.
"I'll be alright. Where is everyone?" Bloom asked.
"They went to get breakfast and I offered to stay with you." Aela replied.
"Thank you. On the subject of food can you find me some? I'm starving." Bloom said.
"Sure, but I have a question first." Aela replied as she looked Bloom strait in the eyes. "Did you imprint on someone out in the field?"
Bloom looked away and started to blush at the question. "I knew it! I knew that look on your face! Who is it?" Aela all but screamed. Bloom shushed her, "Calm down. I don't want her to know until I can talk to her." Bloom almost whispered. "Uhm... I have a question too." Bloom said sheepishly.
"What's the matter?" Aela asked worried.
"What does it mean to imprint on someone of the same gender? I'm strait, I thought." Bloom asked. The question seemed to confuse Aela for a moment.
"Imprinting isn't always about the physical, at first anyway. There are cases where our kind would imprint on close friends. Then as they grow closer their orientation may change. I have no doubt that you're strait, but if you imprinted on one of the Winx then your relation to her will become more... personal." Aela explained.
"But... she's strait and not a werewolf."
"Imprinting is a magical connection, not physical. In time she will fell the same way about you as you do about her. It may take a while, but she will."
"But... I don't want to pull her away. She's really happy with her relationship." Bloom said on the edge of tears. Aela carefully hugged her, making sure not to hurt her.
"Bloom if you imprinted, then it's fate that you be together with her." Aela could tell she wasn't getting through to Bloom. "Think about it for a little. I'll go find you something to eat." Aela then got up and left Bloom to her thoughts.
Aela entered the cafeteria. She immediately located the Winx, her family, and Bloom's parents since they were the only ones in the room. They were all sitting in one long table in the corner of the room. Aela made her way over and walked up behind Kodlak.
"We have a problem." Aela whispered in Kodlak's ear.
"I'm sorry, I have to talk to Aela. Excuse me." Kodlak politely as he stood up. The two wolves moved to the other corner of the room to talk in private.
"What's wrong?" Kodlak asked.
"It's Bloom." Aela said. What they didn't realize was that Musa's super hearing heard her say 'Bloom' and caught her attention.
"Hey they're talking about Bloom." Musa whispered to the table. The group fell silent waiting for Musa to tell them.
"What's the matter with Bloom?" Kodlak asked worryingly.
"She's imprinted on one of the Winx but won't admit it." Aela said.
"What's imprinting?" Musa openly asked the table. The wolves glanced towards each other, then got up to join the conversation between the two others of their family. Oritel and Miriam then immediately got up and made their way out of the cafeteria.
"What just happened?" Layla asked dumbfounded.
"I don't know, but we'll find out eventually if it's this important." Stella answered.
"Bloom imprinted?" Farkas asked as the three walked up to Aela and Kodlak.
"How did you?" Aela asked.
"Musa's hearing heard you talking about Bloom and decided to share with the whole table." Skjor answered.
"That's why Oritel and Miriam left." Aela mumbled. "But back to the issue of the matter, she won't accept it. She feels like she's going to hurt the girl she imprinted on." Aela explained to the family.
"Well what do we do about it?" Vilkas asked.
"First we need to find out who she imprinted on." Kodlak said.
"Then we need to get her to admit it to the girl." Aela finished.
Oritel and Miriam arrived at the door to Bloom's room in the infirmary. Miriam knocks on the door lightly, but they hear no reply from inside the room.
"Bloom? Can we come in?" Miriam asked through the door. There was still no reply. "Maybe she's sleeping." Miriam suggested to her husband.
"Bloom it's just Miriam and me. We're going to come in now, alright." Oritel said. He waited a moment to see if there would be a reply. Hearing none, Oritel opened the door and looked in. He saw Bloom sitting in a chair looking out the window. He motioned towards Miriam to come in with him.
"Bloom dear? Are you alright?" Miriam asked, then walked up next to her daughter. Miriam placed her hand on her daughter's, finally pulling her attention.
"Oh, hey mom. How long have you been here?" Bloom asked.
"Not long. We heard you were awake and came to see you dear." Miriam answered.
"You ran into Aela? Hate to sound selfish but any idea when she'll get back? She went to go get me some food." Bloom asked.
"I'm not sure Bloom. However there's something we need to talk about." Oritel said as he pulled two chairs up next to Bloom. He sat down in one and Miriam sat in the other.
"What's the matter?" Bloom asked. She knew where this would go. There wasn't anything else it could be.
"We 'overheard' Aela saying that you imprinted." Oritel stated, emphasizing on the 'overheard'.
"And that you were't taking it to well." Miriam finished.
Bloom looked back to the window, tears forming in her eyes. "You must be ashamed of me. Here I have the perfect way to get over Sky and I'm resisting it."
"Don't be silly Bloom. I know that you loved Sky. It must be hard to accept all this, but you can't ignore this." Miriam said trying to help Bloom feel better.
"No matter what, the connection is there. If left alone it will only pile up. It's best to accept it now instead of exploding later." Oritel said trying to reason with Bloom.
"But I don't want to pull her away from her boyfriend." Bloom cried.
"She will understand, and if her boyfriend is that good he will understand too." Miriam reasoned. Bloom just sat there in silence thinking it over.
"Okay." Bloom finally replied.
"Okay?" Oritel asked.
"Yeah. I understand what you mean and I'll tell her." Bloom answered.
"Do you want us to stay with you?" Miriam asked.
"No, I want to do this alone." Bloom answered.
"Alright dear. Just remember that we are here if you need us." Miriam said as they both left Bloom's room. Bloom made her way over to where her phone was. She picked it up and started texting. She sent her message then waited for her to arrive.
A few minutes later there was a knock on the door. Bloom opened the door to she the girl she imprinted on standing there.
"Hey Flora. Come on in, we need to talk." Bloom said, inviting her in.
