Halloween scare fest.

Set early on in the story before Callen and Mac were officially a couple.

Kensi was all excited. Saturday was Halloween. She and Deeks had invited Mac and Callen over for an adult evening of scary movies, beer and pizza. Eric and Nell were opting to go to a local club for their celebration.

"Kens you are way too excited today." Said Sam.

"Halloween is Saturday."

"Yeah I know. Taking Cam out trick or treating. She's dressing like penguin this year."

"Oh how cute."

"Not really. She's making me get dressed up too."

This made everyone laugh.

"I still think you guys are missing out not coming with me and Nell."

"Eric I'm way too old to go party at a club in full costume." Said Mac.

"Oh come on it's not going to be that bad."

"Still a movie night sounds a lot better."

"Yeah Kensi what movies have you picked out for us?" asked Callen.

"It's a surprise." Kensi said smugly.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" asked Callen quietly.

"Oh come on how bad can it be?"

"This is Kensi we're talking about."

Mac rolled her eyes at him and got back to work.

Friday after work Kensi dragged Deeks out to shop for party stuff. They got chips, beer, candy (extra for Kensi of course) and cupcakes. Kensi also got a big purple bowl with bats on it for the candy they would give out to trick or treaters.

"This is going to be so much fun."

Deeks tried not to groan. At least she wasn't making them get dressed up.

"Oh Deeks look." Kensi was standing there with a frilly mask on. "Who cool is this."

"Yeah not wearing a mask all night."

"What if I add a cape?"

"Kens as much as I love you I don't think Mac and Callen want to see you in nothing but a cape and mask." Said Deeks smirking. "Now if you want to save it for after they leave then sure get the mask."

Kensi blushed and put the mask in the cart. Deeks laughed and added two plastic pumpkins that were already carved and had lights in them.

"That's no fun."

"Yeah well last year Monty ate all the insides and puked them on my bed at two in the morning."

"Yuck."

"Yeah and on the side you sleep on now."

"Ok plastic pumpkins are great."

It took them two hours to shop then an hour for Deeks to fix everything that Kensi had bought. He put the bowl next to the door but stuck the candy up in the cabinet so Monty and Kensi would not get into it. The pumpkins went out on the porch. Deeks usually got about 50 to 100 kids each year. He wasn't sure how much movie they would get to watch but it really didn't matter.

MAC'S HOUSE.

"You're not decorating?"

"No why would I?"

"Just asking?"

"Callen we're going over to Deeks places so there is no reason for me to put stuff out."

"Good point."

Mac handed Callen a beer. He was supposed to hang with Sam that night but his daughter decided she wanted to carve pumpkins with her dad so Callen had showed up at Mac's with food.

"You sure you don't mind me hanging here tonight?"

"You brought me food so no I don't mind." Mac said. She bumped her shoulder into his. "You know you're always welcome."

"Ok." Callen said and went back to watching the tv. Other than Kensi and Nell, Callen really didn't spend a lot of time with women. Sam kept telling him he needed a girlfriend. Callen didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal till now.

He snuck a look over at Mac. She had her hair down and was sitting with her legs tucked up next to her. This made her lean into him slightly. Not that he minded. Hell he was really enjoying having her almost on top of him.

"I was thinking about going to the museum next weekend. They are having an exhibit on Russian art."

"Russian art?" Mac looked over at him.

"Would you like to go with me?"

"Sure why not. Beats sitting around here all day."

Mac had to hide her smile. Only Callen would ask her out to an art show. She wasn't about to say no to him he looked so cute sitting there trying not to look at her while he asked her out.

"Ok we can go to dinner afterwards."

"Sounds good. You can take me to that place you and Sam always talk about."

"The one with the killer ribs?"

"Yep that's the one."

Callen smiled over at her. "Ok if that's where you want to go I'll call and make reservations so we don't have to wait for a table."

"Sounds good."

Mac smiled at Callen and swore he blushed a bit.

THE NEXT DAY.

"Deeks did you order the pizzas?"

"Yes."

"And the garlic knots?"

"Yes."

"And the double chocolate brownie?"

"Yes."

Kensi came out of the bedroom wearing an orange tee shirt with a smiling pumpkin on it. "Great I'm staring."

"Callen just texted saying they were on their way."

"So what are we watching first?"

"You'll find out when everyone is here."

Deeks was not one for horror movies but Kensi loved them. Usually the old black and white ones that were really not that scary. Now if she chooses some of the more current movies like Saw Deeks was in big trouble.

There was a knock at the door and Kensi opened it holding the bowl of candy.

"Trick or treat." Said Callen holding out his hand.

Kensi dropped a Kit Kat into it and moved so they could enter the apartment.

Deeks handed them both a beer and made room on the couch. Kensi was now busy handing out candy to several kids.

"Any idea what we're watching?"

"No."

Callen made to stand and Mac put her hand on his arm. "We're staying."

"We could make a run for it while Kensi is busy."

"Callen sit down."

Kensi walked over and smiled at them. "Ok ready for the first movie?"

"Yes we are."

Kensi hit play and then went to answer the door again. On the couch Deeks, Mac and Callen sat in shock.

"Are you kidding me?" Deeks blinked a few times. "Kens hun I think you put in the wrong movie." His voice was a bit high pitched.

"No it's the right one."

She walked over and dropped two pizza's and a bag onto the coffee table. "I figured that Callen and Mac would enjoy a classic."

"We're watching a kids movie?"

"It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Deeks it's a classic."

"What about Saw, or Jason?"

"Later Deeks, this one first."

And hour later. "You know I never saw this movie." Said Callen. "It's good."

"Yeah me neither." Said Mac.

Kensi looked at Deeks. "See told you."

The doorbell rang and Callen got up this time. There were four kids this time. "Here ya go." He dropped some candy into each bag.

"Thanks mister." The little mad scientist said as they left.

"Just think Kens in a couple years we can be taking our own little monster out trick or treating."

"Sounds like fun." Said Kensi. "Especially if some of our friends have kids close to the same age." Kensi said this while looking right at Callen and Mac.

Mac went bright red and Callen choked on his beer.

"Kensi time for another movie." Said Deeks.

"Ok time for the hills have eyes."

Forty five minutes later Callen was grinning like a fool as Mac hid her face in his shoulder.

"Enjoying yourself there Callen?" joked Deeks on his way to answer the door.

"Yep great movie."

Mac sneaked a look at the screen and gave out a squeak before hiding her face against Callen again.

"Love this movie."

"Not funny Callen." Muttered Mac from her place next to him. Callen wrapped his arm around her and just smiled.

Deeks and Kensi smiled at each other and Kensi took a photo to show Sam.

"Kens how about we put on something we can all enjoy before Callen says something that ends up making him never able to have mini super spies."

"Fine. How about Tremors?"

"Sounds good. Mac and Callen should like it. Lots of guns and things blowing up."

Kensi turned the movie off and Mac lifted her head. Callen was still smirking at her. Mac rolled her eyes at him but didn't move away from him.

The movie started and everyone was enjoying the movie.

"I like Burt." Said Callen.

"You like his gun collection." Added Kensi.

"Hey next year you two can go as Burt and Heather and we can make a worm costume for Monty to wear."

"Deeks I don't think this was a popular movie that a lot of people would get the reference."

"Yeah good point."

Everything was fine until the worm showed up and Callen jumped. "What the hell is that thing?"

"Giant worm." Said Deeks.

"Man that is just wrong." Murmured Callen.

"Aw is someone afraid of the big bad worm?" joked Mac.

Callen tightened his grip on her and Mac laughed.

"You know there are a couple more of these movies." Said Kensi.

"Oh I have to see them."

"No we don't." said Callen.

Kensi whispered in Mac's ear. A few moments later Mac poked Callen in the side at just the right moment. Callen yelped and jumped. Mac laughed.

"That was not funny MacKenna."

"Yes it was." Mac laughed till she cried. Callen decided to teach her a lesson and pulled Mac onto his lap and tickled her.

"Oh… god…Callen… stop…" Mac said as she tried to get loose. Kensi and Deeks sat there with their jaws on the floor. Neither had ever seen their team leader act like a little kid before.

It took a few moments before Callen realized that all Mac's wiggling was having the wrong effect on him. He froze and let her go. Mac got up and went to get another beer.

"You ok there Callen?" joked Deeks.

"Yeah just fine."

"Jeans getting a little snug?" joked Kensi.

"Not funny Kensi."

"Yes it is."

Mac walked back from the kitchen and dropped down next to Callen. She handed him a beer and smiled.

ACROSS TOWN

Eric was dressed as Dr. Who and Nell was dressed as Tinkerbell. Eric could not take his eyes off Nell. Neither could most of the guys at the club. Eric was starting to think this was a bad idea. They had been there for two hours and Nell had been dancing the entire time with every random guy that asked her. Eric ended up sitting at the table bored out of his mind.

Finally he decided he had enough. Eric walked up to Nell at the bar. "I'm going to head home."

"Eric why it's still early?"

"Yeah well sitting at the table by myself all night is not very fun."

"I'm sorry."

"No big deal Nell you have fun I'll see you at work on Monday."

Eric walked away leaving Nell to stand there watching him leave. Some guy handed her a drink and Nell excused herself for a moment. She dropped the drink off on a random table and followed Eric out the door.

"Eric wait."

"What Nell?"

"How about we head to my place and have our own movie marathon."

"You don't want to stay?"

"I'd rather head home with you."

Eric smiled and opened the car door for Nell. "Let's grab some food on the way."

DEEKS PLACE.

Tremors had finally ended and Callen and Mac decided to head home when there was a knock at the door. They had long ago ran out of candy and Deeks had turned the light off.

Kensi opened it and burst out laughing. Sam and his daughter stood there.

"Hi Aunt Kensi." Said Cam.

"Hey Cam cut penguin outfit."

"Thanks."

"And Sam looking real sharp there."

Sam growled when he caught Deeks and Callen taking photos.

"Looking good big guy." Said Callen.

"Yeah Sam great look for you."

Poor Sam was dressed up like a walrus.

"Ok you got candy for my kid or not?"

Cam held out her bag and smiled. Kensi went and got her stash out and dumped it into her bag.

"Her you go Cam."

"Thank you Aunt Kensi."

"Ok Cam time to head home."

"Nite everyone." Said Cam as she waved.

"I hate all of you." Said Sam as he followed his daughter back to the car.

Kensi shut the door and slid to the floor laughing. "Oh man I can't believe that."

"Poor Sam." Said Callen shaking his head.

"You got good shots right?" asked Mac.

"Oh yeah."

"Big screen Monday morning."

"Oh yeah."

They said goodnight and headed back to Mac's place where Callen left his car.

Kensi picked herself up and headed to the bedroom. "Give me five minutes and I'll be ready for our private fun."

Deeks hurried to lock the door and turn off the tv. Oh yeah he loved Halloween.

Callen and Mac walked slowly back to her place. There were a handful of kids still out and Callen pointed out some costumes that he liked. When they got close to her place a cat darted out from the bushes scaring Callen.

"Oh man those worms really got to you."

"Did not just wasn't expecting that is all."

Mac laughed and bumped into Callen as they walked.

"I'll see you Monday." Said Mac as she walked up to her door.

"Yeah Monday."

Callen watched as she walked into the house. He smiled. Yep he was going to marry that girl.
