Naomi couldn't have been more surprised when, at the end of the BB case, L asked her to teach him capoiera. She agreed, and was confused by his other request – not to freak out when she met him – until she actually did meet him and was taken aback by his sheer resemblance to Beyond. Then he looked at her solemnly with wide, wide grey eyes and she realized they were nothing alike.
The friendship they developed was probably the strangest she'd ever experienced, but it was also the best. It stung, rather, that wash could never talk about it, even to her fiancé.
She was never more grateful that she had L's personal phone number than when Raye came home and mentioned showing his ID to the suspect he'd been following. His attempt to distract her – sexist remarks designed to make her angry; he knew how she felt about that – was pathetically transparent, and she pressed him and pressed him and finally revealed her connection to L before he gave her a name – Light Yagami. She called L immediately, and when Raye died, Light was arrested. L comforted her to the best of his rather stunted abilities, and she went back to work, this time for him.
Two years later, she met a wonderful young man named Richard...
