Chapter 8

The Day of Light

Zola's POV

"oh come on Leo, i thought you're the smart one here. How come you still dont get it? Just hold the sword firmly and make sure that it wont fall from your hand. As you attack move with the sword as if it is a part of your body." This is the 5th time i explained to Leo on how to basically hold and use a sword. This guy is hopeless! I already trained a person as stupid as Shu and yet they know how to properly hold a sword but this guy? He's so unbelievable!

"It's so hard Zola! Can we please take a sit. I'm tired." He muttered, why did i even asked him to have a sword fight and offered to teach him on how to use a sword. If that stupid secretary didn't bust in maybe i'm having a great and thrilling battle with Logi right now.

"Oh Your Highness you look so tired. Please take a rest, you must not push yourself too hard. You Zola why are you tiring the prince so much? It is not good for him!" Speaking of stupid secretary the person who is blabbering is no other than Matilda.

"Matilda i'm fine, don't act as if your my mother. And do not talk to Zola in that manner! Treat the Lady with respect!" Leo said sternly. Matilda looked shocked and bowed her head.

"My apologies Your Highness, My Lady." She almost whispered my 'title'. Her face was priceless! Haha

"My Lady you don't have to teach Leo on how to use a sword. Logi provided him enough security to protect him so please do not bother yourself." Dr. Darwin said.

"I know that Leo has enough security but as a man he must know how to stand on his own. He has to know at least the basics on self defense." I explained.

"Geez you're talking as if you're an expert on sword fights." I heard Matilda whispered.i threw a wooden sword toward her and said.

"If your whispering make sure nobody can hear it stupid and if have doubts on my swordsmanship, let's try it now." She smirked and positioned.

Matilda's POV

She thinks she's so great huh? I'll let her eat her own words! Ugh i really hate her! I wholeheartedly served the king for a long time in order to earn his affection. But suddenly this woman came and stole everything that i worked hard for! No! I will never let that happen. I will embarass her by defeating her on a sword fight. For her information i am the most skillfull swordswoman in Rosenkreuz, only the king himself can defeat me! I started to attack her. With my fast movement all she did was blocking and turning away from my attacks.

"Not so good in one on one combats huh My Lady? Where are your so called skills now? For your information only the king can defeat me." I teased while continuously attacking her.

"You are so talkative"
She suddenly blocked my last stroke,lowering my guard. She was about to attack me but i smirked. Aside from my swift movements, one of my advantages is that i can teleport. This is the ability of my artificial shadow. I teleported to her back and was about to attack her from behind. Maybe she is now confused because of my sudden disappearance. The prince stood up to warn her but he's too late! No one can beat me! The tip of my sword was about to touch her but she quickly turned and counter attacked me. It was so fast! The next thing i knew is that i was lying on the floor and my body aches! My wooden sword was at the other corner of the training room.
She stepped closer and pointed her wooden sword at me.

"Next time never underestimate your opponent. Your pride will only kill you." She held her hand. I was hesitant to accept it but she grabbed my arm and stood me up. Ouch my whole body is aching. Someone clapped.

"You never changed Zola, as expected from the only person who can beat me in sword fights." It was the king! Did i heard it right? She defeated the king himself?

"Doctor i think i need medication now! I'm aching!" I cried to Doctor Darwin. He just looked at me then touched his communicator.

"Bring a stretcher here in the training room." He walked past me and went to Zola. Her again?

"Are you feeling well My Lady, come let's go to the laboratory. I have to run a series of test in you." She just nodded and followed the doctor! Hello i was the injured one here! Why are they so concerned about Zola? Leo and Logi was about to go as well.

"Your Majesty, i need you." I reached up my hand.

"The nurses with the stretcher will be here soon so don't worry about her bro." Leo said and they went out! I so hate you Zola!

Logi's POV
My meeting with the king of Corrin was brief, we just discussed that we should add more soldiers so i went back immediately. I can't let that brat have so much quality time with Zola. When i entered the training room i saw what happened! I know Zola is very good in swordfights but it is impossible for a normal person to counter attack Matilda's move and do so much damage on her opponent. Even i can't block that! The weirdest part is, she did all that in just seconds!

"How is she?" I asked uncle.

"Her energy level increased enormously as well as her reflexes. And through her test we found out something." Uncle paused.

"What is that?" I cant wait for his answer.

"Her power level is the same as a shadow's." He replied. I froze.

"You mean she still possesses a shadow?" I have a lot of questions.

"I already checked her shadow and it is a normal one. The power level of a shadow is higher than its wielder, yes the power comes from the wielder but the shadow has the capacity to increase it multiple times. What i mean is that her power level as a person is the same as of a shadow." He explained. Now i'm starting to understand.

"You mean that she is as powerful as a shadow herself?" I asked.

"Exactly." He simply answered.

"I know you are confused with the situation but all i can say is we have to observe her a little more. You may now see her." Uncle left. I entered the room. But i saw wires attached to her body so i quickly covered my eyes with my hand. The last time i saw her with wires attached to her, she called me a pervert.

"You dont have to do that Logi, relax i'm still wearing my dress." She chuckled. I removed my hand and she was right. I sat beside her and took her hand.

"How are you?" I asked.

"Hey you dont have to worry, i'm fine. I just feel weird, i feel so sensitive. I felt that your there even before you opened the door. Is there something wrong with me?" She looked a bit afraid. I pulled her closer to me.

"Dont worry Zola, as long as i'm here i wont let anything bad happen to you, we will do our best to find out what is happening to you. Trust me." I assured her. She lifted her head and looked straight into my eyes.

"If you're going to protect me, then i'll also do my best to protect you Logi." She said. I felt my heart was beating faster than normal.

"Then let's protect each other." We smiled at each other. I place my hand on her face and slowly drew it closer to mine. Few moments later i felt her soft lips touched mine, she closed her eyes and her arms around my neck. We continued to kiss each other but suddenly...

"Logi dinner is rea-" uncle stormed in. We three froze for a moment or two then Zola quickly pushed me and left without saying anything.

"Sorry nephew, next time try locking the doors and put a sign that says 'do not disturb'! Hahaha." The old man left laughing out loud.
I slammed the door and went to the dinning room. Leo and uncle were already there. Uncle has a teasing smile written on his face but i just ignored him. The maids started serving our dinner.

"Where is Zola? We should wait for her." Leo protested. Uncle gave me another teasing look. Then another maid came in. She bowed and stated

"Your Majesty, My Lady said that she apologizes because she cannot accompany you for dinner. She is now in her room resting. Do you have any message for My Lady?"

"Did she tell the reason why?" Leo asked

"No Your Highness." She simply answer. I heard uncle chuckled so i kicked his leg secretly. Maybe she feels so embarrassed after what had happened!

"Go to the kitchen and prepare her meal. Deliver it to her room." The maid bowed and left.

"Is Zola alright bro?" Leo looked worried.

"Maybe she's just tired. Finish your dinner now. You can visit her before lights off." I said and we eating.

Zola's POV

What have i done? We kissed each other! And the worst part it his uncle saw us! Ground swallow me now! Call me coward but i just dont have the courage to show my face to doctor darwin tonight or for the next days. Someone knocked.

"Come in." I commanded. A maid carrying a tray of food came in.

"The king instructed us to send your dinner here My Lady, also the prince said that he will come here before light off so be prepared." She left after saying that. Since i'm not that hungry so i silently played with my dinner while reminiscing what happened a while ago. I still can't move on from that kiss! His lips were soft and irresistible. When i was wrapped under his strong arm i felt so secured. Oh Logi what spell have you cast upon me?

"Guess you're not really feeling well huh? If you don't like the food then call a maid to bring it out. Its not good to play with your food." To my surprise Leo was inside my room leaning beside the door. He clapped his hand and a maid came in. He signaled her to get my meal then the maid went out. He sat beside and placed his hand on my forehead.

"Hmm you don't have a fever. Tell are you feeling well? We can ask uncle to come here to check you up." He offered. I suddenly remembered doctor Darwin's face when he saw me and Logi kissing each other the moment Leo mentioned his name. I quickly removed his hand from my forehead.

"I'm fine. He doesn't have to go here." I hissed. He looked at me and smiled widely.

"Now i get it! What's the matter? Red flag up?" He teased. Red flag up? What does that mean? After a few seconds i realized what he meant by 'red flag'. I felt heat rushing on my cheeks.

"Am i correct Zola? Its the first day of your monthly menstruation that is why you're not feeling well?" He asked. Suddenly he laughed out loud.

"You should see your face! It's as red as a tomato!" He continued laughing. I turned away.

"No i'm not having my period. I'm just not in the mood." I answered. He rested his arm on my shoulder.

"If you need anything. Feel free to ask. I don't want to see you sad or uncomfortable." I turned back to him and i saw him staring at me. I felt a bit conscious.

"Zola, the moment i woke up from coma and i saw you wearing a beautiful blue dress i felt a strange feeling inside me." He spoke softly still staring straight in my eyes. It's like i was hooked into his eyes and all i can do is listen.

"I felt my heart was beating faster than normal and i felt a mixture of joy, longing and fulfillment. So i quickly hugged you and that moment i felt so complete."
He continued.

"Why are you saying such things." His words are so sweet and i can feel butterflies in my stomach right now. He smiled at me.

"Because i like you Zola, i really like you." I can see sincerity in his blue eyes.
He suddenly knelt in front of me and kissed my hand.

"I, Prince Leo of Rosenkruez is more that honored to court the lovely Lady Zola. Can i ask you out on a date tomorrow?" I was totally speechless. He stood up and chuckled.

"Speechless huh my dear? Get used to it. You'll hear more of it in the coming days. And silence means yes so i'll see you tomorrow. Good night and sweet dreams my princess." He kissed me on the cheek and left. I jumped on my bed while my head was replaying Leo's lines. Is this the feeling of being courted? Shocks i can't sleep!

Logi's POV
After dinner i went straight to my office to finish my paper works. After that i went to my room and got ready for bed. Then i remembered Zola so i went to the secret door. I was about to enter her room but i heard someone speaking. If i'm not mistaken it is Leo! Call me an eavesdropper but i just want to know what are they talking about.

"Zola, the moment i woke up from coma and i saw you wearing a beautiful blue dress i felt a strange feeling inside me." I heard him speaking. I slightly opened the door and saw Leo and Zola talking to each other. I did not pay attention to what he is saying then to my surprise he knelt down and kissed her hand! I should be the one doing this!

"I, Prince Leo of Rosenkruez is more that honored to court the lovely Lady Zola. Can i ask you out on a date tomorrow?" He asked her. Zola was speechless. Maybe she never thought that Leo would do these things. I closed the secret door and sat at side of my bed. Leo is really serious on courting Zola. I suddenly remembered our kiss, she kissed me back. Does this mean i still have a chance? I guess i really have to compete with my own brother. I did not notice that i fell asleep while thinking.

The next morning i wore a formal suit and tied my hair at the back. Usually i wore my battle suit and let my hair flow. I finally placed my cape and made a last look on the mirror. I went to the dinning room and saw uncle Ronald silently drinking his coffee. He doesn't look surprise with my outfit.
I sat beside him and the maids served me a cup of coffee. Matilda came in and greeted me.

"Wow good morning Your Majesty! You look so handsome today! It seems that you're preparing for something!" I just smiled and nodded. Few minutes later the maids started serving our breakfast. This is weird, usually they serve it when the members of my family are complete.

"Where's the prince and the lady?" I asked Matilda. She smiled widely. This woman is really creepy.

Matilda's POV
What a beautiful morning! Zola is not around because the prince asked her out. That means i can have the king all to myself! Haha! When i entered the dinning room i saw the king all dressed up looking so handsome! I should have wore a dress to match with him! I cheerfully greeted him and he smiled at me! How lucky can i get. When their breakfast was being serve the king looked confused.

"Where's the prince and the lady?" He asked. I smiled widely and responded.

"Were you not informed Your Majesty? The prince asked the lady out on a date at Sabaru." Lady? Yuck! The doctor coughed while drinking his coffee. Logi's face darkened and he clenched his fist. The doctor stood up.

"Logi, Zola is in Sabaru at a time like this? We should get her back immediately!" He shouted. Logi looked confused. What is the problem of this old man?

"What do you mean uncle?" Logi asked. The old man placed his hand on his forehead.

"Logi today is the day of light and they will conduct the parade at Sabaru!" Logi's eyes widened. He forgot that today is the day of light? I thought he was all dressed up today to celebrate the occasion. The king forbid his subjects to celebrate it for an unknown reason. He stood up and stormed out. The doctor followed him immediately. What is the problem if Zola is at Sabaru in the celebration of the day of light?
