Chapter 10

Voice of Regret

DR. RONALD DARWIN'S P.O.V.

I used my mechat so that i can go to Sabaru quickly. Anytime the parade is about to begin so there is no time to spare. Unfortunately the parade already started when my men and i arrived. I have to find Zola immediately.

"Hurry, find the Lady and the Prince. Tell them that the King ordered that they should return to the palace now!" I ordered. My men scattered to find them. Suddenly i bumped to someone. I turned and saw Leo.

"Uncle? What are you doing here?" He was surprised. Logi never allowed his subjects to celebrate the occasion because obviously it is an occasion against his beloved Zola.

"Where is Zola?" I asked. He turned to a different direction and pointed. I saw a woman wearing a green cape running away from the crowd.

"There she is. We must follow her uncle, during the play she suddenly pulled her hand from me then run away. She looked so scared or something." He explained. I can see that Leo is really worried for the lady. We ran after her as she made her way past the crowd. Suddenly she bumped to a young man. The boy looked at her then walked away. Few seconds later we heard a deafening scream. It came from Zola. Everyone was shattered, her scream created a short earthquake. Some even fainted and cracks on he road appeared. We approached her. She was shaking. When Leo touched her, she suddenly lost her consciousness.

"What is happening to her uncle? Why did she fainted? Where did that awful scream came from." Instead of answering I removed my own cape and covered it to Leo. No one must recognize the prince. Some may think that the earthquake came from our nation. Everyone knows that King Logi objects the celebration of the day of light.

"Carry her back to the ship, we will bring her back to the palace to check her up immediately." I instructed. He nodded and followed. I looked around and saw the people staring at us.

"Dont worry about my daughter. She is just exhausted from the parade and that scream is really shattering! We will take her to our home now." I said. We cannot catch too much attention. I followed Leo then instructed my men to use my mechat back to the palace.

Logi's P.O.V.

"Your Majesty please sit down. Calm down, i'm sure that your uncle will bring the prince back here safely." Matilda said. How can i calm down? They've been out for hours! I hope Zola is okay.

"Here Your Majesty,its already past lunchtime. You haven't eaten anything this morning." She offered. I slammed the table.

"Will you just leave me alone? I'll eat anytime i want so get out now!" I shouted. She quickly exited. Few minutes later a soldier rushed in and bowed.

"My King, the royal ship has arrived." He reported. I immediately run to the routing port. But to my surprise a group of medical people with a stretcher came down from the ship. Uncle was with them too.

"No questions for now. I'll explain everything later." Uncle said and left. Leo was about to follow them but i pulled him.

"What did you do to her?" I shouted. He looked terrified and at same time i can see panic in his eyes. I took a deep breath to calm myself.

"Follow me to my office." I commanded and left.

Leo explained to me what happened and i can tell that he doesn't really know what happened to Zola. She saw the parade and the play! I know she still feels so guilty for what happened three years ago. I really dont how hurt she is to see right before her eyes that the people are celebrating her death and defeat.

"Will she be fine bro?" Leo was really worried. Before i could answer Uncle came in. We both stood up.

"She is in coma right now due to distress and fatigue. I hope that she will wake up in a couple of weeks. All we can do is wait and observe. For now you may see her." He stated. We went to Zola's room.

Leo came in first, before i was about to enter but uncle stopped me.

"Can i talk to you first Logi?" I nodded and we headed to his office.

"She is very unstable, Leo told me that when during the burning of her replica she suddenly pulled her hand away from him then ran away in panic. Guilt is one major cause why she collapsed. Her emotions are very unstable. Anything that would remind her of what happened three years ago might bring great danger not only to her but for the whole nation or worst the whole world!" He stated. To the whole nation? Harm to the whole world?

"What do you mean uncle?" I asked. Instead of answering me he turned on his projector and flashed a set of pictures and graphs. He pointed a picture with a line graph on the side.

"As you can see these graphs shows the sound frequency of her scream. Good thing we had some men at Sabaru who collects seismic readings. When she screamed, the ground was shakened and some fainted. No normal person could do such a thing." He looked at me.

"What are you trying to say uncle? That Zola is not normal?"

"No you got it all wrong nephew. What I mean there is something special about her. According to your story she made the bullets stop and turn around, she flew and released laser beams from her eyes, she broke a sword with her bare hands. During her fight with Matilda she blocked an attack centimeters away from her in miliseconds then caused so much damage on her opponent. Now her scream shattered the ground! Can she do these thing before she was sealed with the darkness?" All what uncle said makes sense. Zola is beyond normal. But how?

"She can do some of those things when she had a shadow." I answered.

"And the power of her shadow came from the darkness?" Huh? What is the connection of the darkness now?

"Yes." I just answered. To my surprise uncle stood up and slammed the table

"That's it! I have this theory that her power came from the darkness!" Great my ever genius uncle have derived a theory about Zola! And the annoying thing about it is I can't understand a thing! Scientist, geez.

"Care to explain your knowledge to my puny insignificant mind oh great Doctor Darwin." I hissed. He just chuckled and sat again.

"This is just a theory meaning it is not yet proven to be true. More on like a hypothesis perhaps. Before, Zola had a shadow that can do 'some' of her abilities now. That 'shadow' came from the 'darkness'. When you, and the other soldiers of light defeated the darkness her shadow was destroyed and she was trapped with the darkness itself inside the sealed grounds. Am I correct?" I just nodded. Waiting for further explaination.

"My theory is that, when she managed to escape the sealed grounds is that..."

"She absorbed the power of darkness." My eyes widened. Would that be even possible?

"I know what you're thinking nephew, maybe it seems imposible. But come to think of it. If it is possible for a person trapped in the sealed grounds 'without' the seven soldiers of light, it would also be possible for that person to bear the powers of the darkness with her. You witnessed these powers yourself. It's up to you whether to believe it or not." He looked straight into my eyes. I signed.

"If that's true, what should we do?" I asked.
He paused for a while to think.

"I don't know. We haven't proven anything. Everything I said are just speculations. I have to go to Coreen to research. If I am not mistaken there are a lot of books there about the darkness. Meanwhile I guess all we can do is help her control her powers. Her power is very hazardous. One wrong move and she can kill us all and destroy everthing!"

"And how are we going to help her? What are we some kind of expert on power manipulation? Be realistic uncle!" After saying that I received a painful hit in the head.

"What was that for? Old man aren't you forgetting that you're hitting the king of this nation!" I groaned.

"Stop fooling around kid! This is a serious matter! Do you want something bad may happen to your so called 'future queen' huh?" Upon hearing that I sat straight. He was about to say something but a nurse rushed in. She was surprised to see me so she bowed

"Forgive me Your Majesty for rushing in. But we saw some changes on the condition of the Lady." I quicky stood up and run towards Zola's room. I know uncle followed me.

I saw her still unconscious but she's crying? Why?

"We saw her like that when we entered the room. Also, she keeps on asking for forgiveness." A nurse reported. I sat beside her and wiped her tears with my hand.

"Leave us." Uncle commaded. The nurses exited. I hugged her closer to me and rubbed her back. My face was touching hers. I felt her guilt, her pain, her regrets.

"Calm down my Zola, shhhh. I'll do anything to lessen the burden you are carrying." I whispered and kissed her cheeks.

"I think I should leave as well. But nephew don't forget to lock the door okay?" Uncle was about to leave the room.

"Forgive me Jiro, Shu, Kluke, Bonquet and Maru Maro." She said and her crying stopped. I placed her gently back to her bed and stood up.

"While you're in Coreen, I'll search for her friends." I stated.
