Chapter 17: Recovery

Gumball was looking back in forth between the intense beating that his step brother was taking and the commotion that was going on over by his friends.

"If we don't leave now we all done for!" Said Vegeta

"Gumball!" Shouted Maddie.

Gumball looked back towards Aaron who was struggling to keep up the fight he was putting up. Gumball nodded and looked over at Darwin.

"Darwin I need to you to take those group of students over their and instant transmission them back to Elmore Understand?" Said Gumball.

"Uh yeah sure bro b-"

Darwin then saw his brother walk toward the group of villains attacking the orange hedgehog.

"Wait Gumball where are you going?" Darwin asked.

Gumball then powered up to super saiyan 2 and was preparing to fire the Kamehameha.

"I'M GOING TO GET MY BROTHER BACK!" Shouted Gumball. "I already lost one brother to you guys and I'm not going to let it happen again!"

Darwin did as he said, ran over to the group and teleported away with everyone else.

Gumball then fired a giant blue ki blast the the crowed of Villains attacking Aaron.

Baby noticed the blast coming towards them and took action.

"Everyone get out of the way! That blast is coming right for us!" Everyone jumped out of the way and Aaron noticing the blast at last minute. Before it hit he quickly rolled over as far as he could from it but it still singed his arm a little.

Gumball then rushed over toward Aaron. "Nice idea" said Aaron Sarcastically. "You could have took my arm"

"Its all I could come up with" said Gumball.

"Why...Why didn't you leave with everyone else, you had the window of opportunity. WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE IT!?" exclaimed Aaron.

"I DON'T CARE! related or not you're still my brother and a close friend, and i'll be damned if you think I would leave someone and especially you of all people, behind like this" said Gumball holding out his hand.

Aaron grinned and took Gumballs hand. as he was being helped up, Aaron felt an intense amount of pain in his ribcage.

"GAH!" shouted Aaron falling to his knees.

"Whoa whoa dude whats the matter?

"Agh, I think...I Think my ribs are broken. I can barely stand and its getting hard to breath"

"Well, here ill help you" Said Gumball as Aaron put his arm over his shoulder.

Gumball could tell even before that Aaron was in bad shape. He had bruises and cuts all over his body, as well as blood in some places. Gumball knew he was in no condition to fight any longer

Gumball then looked over to see the army of Villains standing there laughing at him.

"That wasn't very smart of you Gumball. Perhaps you'd like to join your brother?" said Garlic jr.

The two started to back away followed by the group of villains getting closer and closer with every step.

Finally Aaron looked behind him and then back to Gumball. "You know man, I really appreciate it for you helping me like this, I know Maddie would too" said Aaron.

"Don't mention it and of course she would, she loves you bro" said Gumball.

A tear came streaming down Aaron's face. "Yeah...But only one of us is getting out of this. carrying me while flying is one thing but fighting is totally different, ill only be getting the way"

"Don't say that man no matter what we can still get out here, ill just use instant transmission" said Gumball.

"They'll follow us, they're smarter than that" said Aaron.

"ATTACK!" shouted Garlic.

"You have a plan to get us out then?" said Gumball.

"No...But you do" said Aaron.

"I d-"

Gumball was cut off By Aaron firing a ki blast into Gumball's stomach, powerful enough to knock him off the edge of the look out. Gumball was in complete shock, he didn't know how close they were to the edge until now. Then he realized what he had planned.

Aaron was going to push Gumball off the Edge so he could make it out, so the Villains were going to be distracted with him.

Gumball looked up from where he was falling up at the look out, he didn't bother to recover, he didn't think he had it in him. All he saw was Aaron giving him a thumbs up before he was pulled back over the ledge by Omega.

Gumball wanted to recover from the fall but he didn't want to, he didn't even care anymore. Too much was going through his mind. What would Maddie say? How could he go back empty handed? Why was Aaron willing to sacrifice this much and even when he tried to save him, he sacrificed himself again so Gumball didn't have to take the beating.

Gumball felt Horrible as he continued to fall out of the sky. He should have been stronger. If he was he could have taken them all on and taken them out one by one. No he couldn't think like that, for all he knew he could b-.

THUD!

"OW!" shouted Gumball. "Man that wasn't the smartest thing"

Gumball stood up and brushed the dust off his cloths. Gumball then looked back up at the look out in the sky.

"I'm sorry this had to happen bro, but don't worry. One way or another, We...Will...FIX THIS!" exclaimed Gumball.

Gumball then picked a tiny pebble of the ground and threw it as hard as he could at the look out in the bit of rage.

Gumball then Looked around and saw a giant boulder nearby about 5 times the size of a semi. Gumball grinned and Walked over to it, picked it up and chunked it at the look out as hard as he could. "Stupid Villains I HATE YOU!" shouted Gumball.

...

Tobias was laughing as Aaron was continuing to take a beating. "Hahahahahaha Wow he's not so tough now huh?" said Tobias.

Tobias then walked over to the edge of the lookout and looked down. "I wonder why Gumball decided not come back u-"

Tobias than saw what it looked like a Gigantic Boulder soaring toward the lookout.

"Ohhh no" said Tobias.

The boulder crashed Straight into the bottom part of the Look out.

"Wow that almost hit me hehe" Said Tobias.

Suddenly Everyone heard a rumble and then it felt like the whole lookout was shaking.

...

Gumball only smiled at what he did. but that smile quickly faded as he saw what it looked like, the Lookout was falling out of the sky.

"Wait WHA- HOW!? said Gumball.

Gumball was wide eyed and his mouth hung as he realized that he made the look out fall from the sky and watched it descend.

...

On the look out things were looking bad. the whole ground was shaking and some a little frightened on what was going on.

"Why is the look out falling out of the sky?!" said Tobias.

Aaron opened his eyes from the grip that buu had on him and glanced over at tobias in shock and then looked. Was the look out really falling out of the sky? Aaron didn't even think it was even possible. But then Aaron remembered it was probably Gumball and then brushed it off as he has had a pretty big history of doing things and them only leading to go wrong.

Aaron thought maybe this was his chance to escape if he could. Aaron blasted Buu in the face with his ki with whatever he had left and slowly tried to float his way to the edge. The pain in his ribcage wasn't making it any easier for him to escape.

Aaron had finally reached the edge and was about to fall off and descend down. But before he could feel a familiar grip caught his foot.

"Where do you think your going Brat?"said Baby laugh and throwing him back toward the center of the lookout. Landing with a hard and painful thud

"Everyone Lets get out of here before this place crashes into the ground" said Garlic.

"What about the Hedgehog?" questioned Frieza.

Garlic looked over at Aaron who was still on the ground and trying to get up. "Bring him with us, he can still be of use to our advantage, Cell Grab him"

Cell nodded and walked over to Aaron. "Its going to be a rough ride down" said Cell.

Cell then Kick Aaron hard in the face knocking him out. "You should take easy for the trip" Cell Chuckled.

Cell then picked up Aaron. Him and the rest of the Garlic Jr.s Group flew off the look out and away.

...

Gumball Watched as the look out came crashing to the ground and collapsing on impact. The Impact made loud bag as well as from what Gumball could tell. left a giant crater in the ground.

"Oh man this is bad. Why did this happen? And to me of all people!" exclaimed Gumball.

Gumball then noticed something else, he couldn't sense Aarons Energy anymore.

"Oh no...WHERE'S HIS ENERGY READING!?" exclaimed Gumball.

"Oh man what am I going to do, how am i going to tell if he's still alive?"

Gumball pondered for a moment and then had an idea. "OH I know, King kia! i'll just go ask him"

Gumball Immediately put two fingers on his forehead and teleport away.

...

King Kia was on his small little planet in other world pondering about the events that had just happened. And was wondering what was in stored next.

Before King kia could react Gumball teleported right in front of his face.

"KING KIA!" screamed Gumball.

King kia jumped in surprise and fell over flat on his back.

"Oh man, sorry Kingg kia I didn't mean to scare you" said Gumball.

"Gumball you don't need to do that, I knew you were coming but I wasn't expecting you to show up right in my face and scream"

"Yeah im sorry again for that, But hey I need your help, I can't sense Aarons energy anymore. I'm afraid he's dead!" said Gumball

"Alright calm down ill check for ya" said King kia.

King kia's antennas twitched as he was concentrating to find Aaron.

"Well?" said Gumball.

"Yes he's Alive but barely and unconscious. not surprised after the beating he took" said King kia.

Gumball signed in relief. "Phew, well that's a relief. Say how did you know about the beating he took?"

"I saw the whole thing, Everything from your fight with baby till now" said King kia.

"Oh" said Gumball rubbing his shoulder.

"But Gumball you do know that you still could have sensed Aaron's energy too, all you had to do was concentrate" said King kia.

"Oh, Well...I guess I just panicked and lost focus of what was around me" said Gumball.

King kia chuckled. "You know Gumball you may be a really strong fighter but you still have much to learn"

"Yeah I know" said Gumball rubbing his arm.

"You better get back home Gumball, before they worry about you" said King kia.

"Oh. Yeah. Right" said Gumball.

Gumball then put two fingers to his forehead and teleported away.

"I swear that kid is a handful" said King kia. "But he sure is great fighter"

...

Meanwhile everyone was at the Waterson house waiting patiently for Gumball and Aaron to come back. Maddie was nervously pacing herself and couldn't help it, but everyone else waited patiently to see the outcome.

Gumball suddenly teleported into the center of the living room.

"GUMBALL!" everyone shouted rushing to him.

"Thank goodness you're okay" said Penny.

"Yeah bro you had us all worried" said Darwin.

"Uhh Gumball" started Maddie.

Gumball looked over at Maddie who looked like she was about to cry and at this point Gumball didn't know if he could say it.

"W-wheres Aaron?"

Gumball took a deep breath and shook his head. "I tried saving him but they had us cornered. Aaron was in bad shape and knocked me off the ledge of the lookout so that I could get out of there, and not have to in danger both of us from escaping"

Gumball already could see tears falling from Maddie's face. and then Gumball put both of his hand on her shoulders.

"But don't worry he's alive. But barely, and I don't know where he is" said Gumball. "I couldn't save him, but I tried"

Gumball then started to feel tears stream down his face. "I-I-I tried b-but I couldn't. a-a-and Im Sorry"

Gumball then fell to his knees.

Maddie started to cry and Penny then started to comfort her sister.

Gumball was crying too he couldn't help it. he failed...Everyone.

Goku walked up to Gumball and got down on knee level with him. "You did your best, thats all that matters. don't beat yourself up".

"*sniff* Thanks Goku" said Gumball.

...

It was now dark outside and everyone was relaxing after today events. Gumball was in the kitchen with Darwin, Goku and Malcolm all sitting down at the kitchen table.

"I can't believe he's gone" said Gumball.

"He's not dead, so he's not completely gone" said Goku.

"But, he was the first person to stand up for me when I was getting bullied" Said Malcolm.

"Don't worry Malcolm, we'll get him back" said Gumball. "I Swear it"

Darwin huffed. "You never told me you got another brother".

"Darwin, it wasn't like that at all. I couldn't do that to you or anyone" said Gumball.

"Yeah sure" said Darwin crossing his arms.

"Dude look he's both our brother, he just came out of no where. LITERALLY! We still don't know how Ironically. But the point is I never replaced you" said Gumball.

Darwin signed. "Alright Gumball, but I'm still not happy about it"

Gumball signed, he might as well let Darwin chill for a bit rather than try to argue with him.

Just then Penny came into the kitchen. "Hey Gumball. Could I talk to you for a sec?"

Gumball looked over at penny and smiled. "Sure Penny" said Gumball.

Gumball left the table and walked over to Penny. "What's up?"

"It's Maddie, she's not taking Aaron being gone so well" said Penny.

Gumball signed. "I figured, I'm not taking it so well myself that I couldn't even save him either"

"Gumball we both know you did you best, and Maddie knows that too, nothing was prepared for what happened" said Penny.

Penny then wrapped her arms around Gumball and kissed him.

"You don't know how much that meant to Maddie, for you going back there and trying to save him" said Penny. "I'm really proud of you for that"

Gumball smiled and chuckled.

"But the point is Gumball, Maddie really needs you right now. You were the closest to Aaron" said Penny. "I mean sure me and Aaron were close but you're his brother, and I think she'd really appreciate it if you could talk to her for a bit"

Gumball couldn't believe that Maddie would still even want to talk to him. Gumball thought she would be mad at him for failing, but then again Gumball didn't think Maddie was the type of person to just go blaming people for stuff that couldn't be helped.

"Alright Penny I'll go talk to her" said Gumball.

Penny smiled. "Now thats the Gumball I know and love" she said kissing him.

Penny let go of Gumball and walked into the kitchen. "I'll be here if you need me"

Gumball nodded and walked into the living room. Gumball looked on the couch to see Maddie sobbing into her hands. He was about to continue forward but was stopped by Vegeta.

"Hey"

Gumball turned around to see Vegeta leaning against the wall. "Oh Hey Vegeta"

"You came in here to talk to her? She's been crying for hours"

"Yeah I am as a matter a fact" said Gumball.

"I don't see why she is, Crying only shows weakness. Sure its bad to see someone we know nearly dead and god knows where but seriously it's absurd" said Vegeta.

"She's known Aaron for a long time, give her a break Vegeta. Heck Aaron was nearly crying too, I even cried!" said Gumball.

"Crying doesn't solve anything, it just shows how weak you are, I am a true saiyan warrior. I don't cry" said Vegeta.

Gumball knew Vegeta doesn't cry but he knew it wasn't entirely true that he has never cried before. from what Goku has told him at least.

"They aren't saiyans Vegeta. Plus everyone cries, crying doesn't make you weak. It just shows you have feelings" said Gumball.

Vegeta signed. "Whatever, if you need me i'll be in here. Have fun" said Vegeta.

Gumball shrugged and walked over to the couch and sat down beside Maddie.

"Uhh...Hey Maddie" said Gumball.

Maddie looked up to see Gumball sitting next to her, she wiped her tears and responded. "Oh *sniff* Hey Gumball"

"Look Maddie I just want to say im really sorry that I failed and feel really bad that-"

"It's okay" said Maddie. "Its not your fault"

"Thanks Maddie" said Gumball. "But don't worry everythings going to be okay"

Maddie then started to form tears in her eyes again. "No its not okay"

Maddie then got up from the couch. "Everything's not okay!" she said running in to the back yard.

"Oh no Maddie wait!" shouted Gumball running after her.

Gumball followed Maddie out the back door and saw her standing in the middle of the yard with her back turned to Gumball.

"Should I go help him?" said Penny.

"Eh, he'll be fine" said Vegeta.

...

Gumball was going to continue walking forward but stopped when he heard her speak.

"You know Gumball, some people don't know how much Aaron means to me" said Maddie. "Some people just think its just a schoolgirl crush. But its not."

Gumball could only listen as she continued.

"I love him, I've known him for as long as I can remember. He's Always been their for me, weather I was going through a tough time or needed advice. He'd be their" Said Maddie. "I didn't realize till later about how it made me feel how he'd always make me happy, laugh and cheer me up. It was then that I knew that I liked him more than as a friend".

Gumball was lost for words.

"Maddie I..."

"I don't just love him, he's my best friend" said Maddie.

Gumball then felt Maddie Energy level rise.

"Whoa Ma-"

"Aaron stood up for me more times than I can count!" exclaimed Maddie clenching her fists.

"And...I...Think"

Gumball then felt Maddies power take a very sharp rise.

"I THINK THAT I SHOULD AVENGE HIM!"

Gumball then felt a strong gust of wind come from Maddie and then a bright flash of light.

when it cleared, Gumball looked back toward Maddie to see her fur glowing a golden yellow color and her hair spiked up.

Maddie looked all around her to see what exactly just happened to her. did she really just ascend?

Everyone then came rushing outside. To See Maddie had transformed and was glowing in the middle of the Watterson yard.

"Whoa dude you never told me that Aaron and Maddie were saiyans" said Darwin.

Gumball turned to Darwin. "Dude they're not saiyans their hedgehogs"

"Okay? the how was she able to go super saiyan?"

"Its not super saiyan, its an entirely different Transformation and process"

"I still don't understand"

Gumball Signed. "Here's the thing Darwin. Aaron and Maddie are both hedgehogs, entirely different from the saiyan race. However they do have a Transformation that is similar in this case its just called super".

Darwin nodded.

"Now in order to get that level you really have to train Hard" said Gumball. "Like really hard"

"im still a little confused. How exactly does it measure in power wise?" said Darwin.

"Its basicly skipping super saiyan one and going straight to two" said Gumball.

"WAIT WHAT!? how are you getting all this info?" Darwin asked.

"Sonic the hedgehog wiki, its practically identical" said Gumball.

"How does that even make sense?" said Darwin.

"I don't know Darwin there's still a bunch of stuff in this world that I don't understand" said Gumball. "I've learned to just roll with it"

"Oh" said Darwin. "So its basicly working just as hard but it taking longer to achieve right?"

"Bingo"

"I think I understand now"

"Like I said just roll with it, like for instance me knocking the lookout out of the sky"

Everyone immediately turned to him. "WHAT!?"

"You brought down Kami's lookout!?" exclaimed Goku.

"Hey it wasn't my fault. even though I did throw a giant boulder the size of a couple semi's" said Gumball.

"I'll explain later but the point is" Gumball Continued. "Maddie has reached a new level of power and we should be happy for her"

Everyone nodded and turned back toward Maddie.

"phew Dodged a bullet their" Gumball thought.

"So did you have any idea she was near or could reach this level of power" Darwin asked

"Ooohhh no I had no clue. She acts so sweet and nice to everyone, This was the last thing I expect"

Maddie continued to look at herself and ponder. "I've ascended? I never knew I could reach this level of power, How did I pull it off"

"You used your anger and the power of loss"

Everyone turned to Goku.

"Think about it, when Gumball went super saiyan for the first time he got angry at Cell for nearly knocking Penny out cold. I went super saiyan for the first time because of my good friend krillin's death on planet Namik a long time ago when I fought Frieza"

"You do make a point" said Penny.

"Yeah, I never figured that way applied to everyone" said Nicole.

"Maddie I think you have all surprised us here with this transformation. We thought only Aaron could do it, but here you are amazing all of us" said Goku.

Maddie smiled and started blushing, nearly everyone could tell as the glowing fur wasn't helping hiding it.

"I think we should let these two continue their private conversation" Malcolm suggested.

Everyone nodded and headed back inside to let the two talk.

"Hehe I kinda feel embarrassed now" said Maddie rubbing her head sheepishly.

"About what?" Gumball asked.

"I let my anger get to me and I went off like I just did" Maddie started. "I shouldn't have ran off like that or yelled for that matter"

Gumball chuckled. "Maddie I see this more of an accomplishment than an embarrassment, you're stronger now"

"You really see it that way?"

"Of course I do Maddie. I know exactly how you feel, I went through the same thing you're going through" said Gumball. "Plus you can use this strength to your advantage, we can use it to get Aaron back"

A smile grew on Maddies face. "Really?"

"Really. Now why don't we head back inside and we continue our conversation where we left off" said Gumball.

Maddie lowered her power and her hair along with the rest of her fur stopped glowing and went back to normal. "Yeah...I'd like that"

AUTHORS NOTES:

Hey Guys I hoped you really enjoyed this chapter, honestly I Think it turned out great!

Now I did want to have some character development with Maddie and a few others in these last couple of chapters and the ones in the future.

For those of you who want to say it should be impossible for Kami's lookout to fall out of the sky. Well that was the joke, with Gumballs bad luck, clumsiness and mischief I thought it would be a nice touch to add. Even though Gumball has aged a bit and is a good fighter, that doesn't mean hes not his same old self sometimes XD. but don't worry Im pretty sure our heroes will restore it ;)
