The Mermaid
Mio took another minute to decide what she would do next. Azusa would've been far gone by now and here she was all alone in the pool staring at the unconscious pirate from a distance. Without her friend's support she wasn't sure if she could brave through it on her own. She'd seen blood and plenty of it. Mio never took those details lightly. She was a coward afraid of anything that screamed death.
And right now death's grip around that pirate seemed eminent.
Mio shook her head and felt more conflicted than ever. Would she try to help her now? Or would she leave and turn a blind eye just like the coward she was? Mio took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. If she'd leave now, there was no doubt the pirate would die. But if she tried...there was a possibility she would survive. Mio exhaled and made her decision.
She had to try.
Slowly and quietly, she swam under the surface until she was close enough to the pirate. To her luck, she passed out right beside the pool where the water was a little deep. Mio realized her right arm was outstretched into the water. She remembered seeing her reach out for something above and muttering a few words before passing out. Now she wondered what her last words were. Mio hesitantly touched the pirate's palm out of curiosity. She didn't move.
Mio took the cue and moved closer, running her hand over the pirate's chest. It was difficult to confirm from afar, but any doubts she had that questioned her gender dissipated. This pirate was in fact, undeniably a girl. The discovery was certainly odd though. Pirates were usually men, not women. She looked over to where the blood had seeped through her clothing, spreading right below her left side. The mere sight had Mio's head spinning and her fingers growing numb.
She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Mio had to stay focused. She didn't come this far just to pass out. With shaky hands, she lifted the pirate's linen shirt and revealed the length of her injury. If the blood had left her numb and tingling, the wound had made her heart drop to her stomach. Mio held a hand over her mouth and turned away.
Focus, she reminded herself. Mio was still hyperventilating when she faced the pirate and assessed the wound. She swallowed thickly and inspected the skin there, estimating the injury to be nearly five inches wide and maybe an inch or more deep. She didn't know much about the human world, but she'd seen what weapons they used firsthand. This wound was caused by a sharp blade. Mio glanced over to the pirate's weapons, two pistols and a bloodstained sword.
The pirate sustained the injury by combat. Mio couldn't help but wonder what sort of situation she was in. Was she outnumbered? That certainly seemed like an option.
She stopped and thought back to proper treatment. If this girl didn't get help soon she'd die in the next minute. Mio came to a solution, she needed to dress the wound. She swam back into the depths of the pool and found exactly what she was looking for. The whole island underneath was filled with a variety of aquatic plants used for remedies. She'd known some knowledge through Azusa, whose mother was their clan's primary healer.
Since her mother was captured by pirates and presumably killed, Azusa had to learn the reigns at a younger age. She could understand why her friend had a strong distasteful opinion regarding pirates.
Mio went to quick work and resurfaced with a few native plants. She didn't know if it would work, she didn't know if using the treatment on humans would do her any good. But it was worth a shot. Mio took the pirate's blade and tore a piece of her vest, soaked it in water and began cleaning up the blood on her skin. She needed a good visual before applying the primary dressing. The fear was still coursing through her veins and the anxiety was there too. But somehow Mio managed to get it done. When she finished, she drew back the girl's shirt and moved up to clean her face.
There was some blood on her mouth and lips. Mio washed it away with another piece of her torn clothing and rubbed her face gently. She took a better look at the girl's facial features. She didn't seem any older than her. In the low light she made out the color of her short brown hair and the fading color of pink on her lips. She'd lost a lot of blood so her complexion had become much paler. Mio wiped her cheeks and realized the girl had very thick eyelashes and some kohl under her eyes. Her eyes, she thought. What color were they? A part of Mio desperately wanted to know. She saw every part of this pirate's face except her eyes and they seemed to be the missing piece to the puzzle.
Mio lowered the cloth and rested her elbows on the ground. She lowered her chin on top of her hands and continued watching the pirate recover. "Please, wake up," she whispered softly and stayed with her until the sun arose.
The Pirate
Ritsu stepped off her ship and into the port. "Yui, we'll be here for at least a week. While we're in town you should restock on our supplies; gunpowder, food, weapons..." she paused and shared a brief, knowing stare with her closest friend. "Rum." Together, Ritsu and her first-mate walked across the wooden path before they crossed the port keeper. Ritsu payed her rent for the week. The man gave her a suspicious stare as if to examine her more closely.
"There a problem sir?" Ritsu asked nonchalantly while a few of her men followed right behind. He waited another moment just as Ritsu payed him another gold coin. "Don't mind us. We're just traveling merchants. Traders, importers," she specified. Without another word, Ritsu continued onwards with Yui quick on her heels.
"Captain," she said.
"I know." Ritsu grinned to herself. But her grin faded quickly as she spotted a few imperial navy officers on the docks. Even she had to admit docking at ports were starting to become somewhat of an issue. "We need to keep a low profile while we're here. I'm not sure if this place is safe enough for us to stay."
Safe. She knew nothing of the word anymore. No part in the entire world would ever be deemed safe, most especially not to anyone with the likes of her, a pirate.
Yui and Ritsu walked through the town where it bustled with life. Men and women passed in and out of the inns and brothels, some more intoxicated than others. Ritsu had a strong feeling she'd end up in either one, or maybe both within the following week.
The sun was just about to set in the horizon when they reached the inn. Somewhere along the way, her crew relaxed and dispersed to enjoy themselves. Ritsu had accompanied Yui all the way to her room.
"Oh! It's got a nice view!" Yui said happily as she stared out the window. The inn watched over the port and the buildings below it perfectly. Ritsu couldn't help but agree. If anything happened in town or at the docks, they'd see it right away.
"Don't get too cozy," Ritsu reminded her as nicely as she could. But he light in her eyes died down considerably and Yui shrunk back with agreement. They both knew what today marked. And neither one of them could keep up the facade for much longer.
"Aye," Yui said sadly.
Ritsu headed for the door. Yui stayed by the single bed and called out to her suddenly.
"Captain?" Ritsu stopped short but kept her hand on the knob. "Be careful."
"Always." She stepped out and closed the door behind her. On her way down the narrow hallway, a man and woman walked together, more or less inebriated. Ritsu steered clear of them and marched down the stairs hurriedly. Her heart tightened in her chest as she left the inn and walked aimlessly into the streets.
For a moment she paused and looked all around her. She didn't know where to go, but exploring sounded like a good option. It wouldn't hurt to know what the town looked like. Ritsu walked among the people who varied from traders, town citizens and a handful of women standing outside the brothel. When she crossed paths with the women, a few had swarmed towards her. This certainly wasn't the first time it happened. After all, she did have a certain...unique desirable charm.
One of the women with longer, light brown hair stopped right in front of her. She batted her eyelashes lasciviously, hinting the desire that burned deep inside her dark green eyes. Ritsu grinned and looked her up and down. The girl was certainly well-endowed. The attraction between the two of them was mutual. "Milady"
"Care for a drink?" She gestured towards the door behind her. There would be a bar and a few rooms to accommodate their overnight guests. Ritsu contemplated on the offer, the women around this port were strikingly beautiful than the last.
"Perhaps another time, love." She politely declined and regarded the other women with a mischievous smile. It was enough to leave their knees weakening.
Ritsu passed through the town square and took in her surroundings. The area was well constructed and the community even better than the previous ports she'd been to. As she trekked the uphill slope she noticed the increase in security around it. One of the guards stood at his post by a house that had a large, metal barred gate. She wondered just who was important enough to live within such a large manor. Ritsu dared to step closer and the moment she did, the guard held out the rifle gripped firmly in his hand. Slowly, she backed away but not before asking a few questions.
"This residence. Who dwells in it?" She looked up and marveled at the height of the manor. White walls with large columns at the front of the steps made it seem like a castle. It could've been considered one, especially if she were to compare it to the homes of the average townsfolk.
The uniformed man gave her a stern, cold stare before giving an answer. "Kotobuki residence. The Governor's home."
Ritsu eyed the veranda closely. "The Governor," she repeated softly. She wondered what this Governor looked like. Perhaps he was large and round, with a belly that matched his unshapely face and white curled wig. Yes, that sounded quite right. The rich and powerful were so well off, they often lost track of themselves and what they looked like. Amused and genuinely humored, Ritsu stepped back as a black carriage made its way to the gate. It took more than a few seconds for them to open, but with the time given Ritsu curiously looked into the window.
She saw a single girl in it with pale blonde hair, a fair complexion, and dark, beautiful blue eyes. Dark because her expression seemed downcast, as if she were sad. Ritsu raised an eyebrow and continued staring until the girl inside finally noticed her presence. It was such a shame to see someone as beautiful as her so heavily distraught as the day was about to end. In an attempt to liven the atmosphere for her sake, Ritsu removed the leather tricorne hat on her head and bowed. Slowly, she raised her head and narrowed her eyes at the girl with a smug grin on her lips. In the seconds they shared before she disappeared and carried on, she could've sworn the girl had blushed.
Ritsu straightened herself out as the gates closed and the man standing guard gave her another stern glare. Good enough, she thought. At least she relieved the girl's sadness for a moment.
When she made her way back to the port, the sky was already a mix of purple and blue. Perfect. She walked over to her ship and ran her hands through its cold, wooden surface. The air was crisp and clean and the breeze carried the smell of the free, open ocean. Ritsu closed her eyes and thought of a marvelous idea. Marvelous, but dangerous too. With a hand, she held onto the rope by the side of the ship and began climbing the rigging to the top of the main sail. She'd done it many times during her journey, but they were never in the dark, not usually. When she reached the end, she released the rope and held onto the bars that led to the crow's nest.
Ritsu stopped only when the wind blew hard against her, threatening to send her to the ground. She closed an eye and estimated the height of the fall to the deck. The fall would be highly lethal to anyone from the distance, just as it always was. She braced herself as another gust of wind blew hard against the mast and ship, forcing it to sway from side to side. This was proving to be more challenging than she expected.
When Ritsu finally made it to the top she breathed hard and smiled to herself. She wasn't that old, she was barely twenty one living a life filled with adventure, thrill and danger. But somehow she felt that the climb took a few years from her lifespan. Ritsu rested her elbows against the curb of the crow's nest and looked out into the ocean.
Did time really fly by that fast? She looked up at the full moon that night and fell to the ground in the crow's nest. There was a reason why she isolated herself from everyone else, from Yui and the others.
"Three years," she said softly. "It's been three years since you've been gone...Megumi."
The Mermaid
Mio came back to the lake everyday to watch over the pirate she tended to. And as the days nearly passed into a week, she was beginning to grow worried. She checked her wound and noticed that the bleeding had stopped, but still the girl remained unconscious, unmoving.
How long did it usually take for humans to recover? Mio didn't know, but she hoped she'd wake soon. Mermaids got sick too, injured and wounded as well. But she knew that the longer someone stayed asleep for days their vitality was put at an even greater risk. She moved up to the girl's face and looked at her intensely. Were all pirates as hostile and heartless as the one who captured Azusa's mother? Some part of her begged to differ. This pirate didn't look like she'd hurt a soul.
What was even stranger was that she looked almost...familiar.
A drop of water fell against Mio's cheek as she looked up at the grey, storm brewing clouds. It was going to rain. Again she glanced down at the pirate and placed her hand over her neck. She felt the faint sign of life, her pulse racing gently over her fingertips. For a second it didn't seem like their kind were that different from each other. Mio smiled weakly and moved her hand to rest against the girl's forehead. Her temperature had gone up in the last few days. Her smiled faded.
That didn't seem to be a good sign.
In a few minutes, the rain intensified and poured hard down on them. Her body had grown hotter than ever before. Mio watched her clothes dampen from the rainfall. She'd seen a few pirates in her lifetime and noticed that despite sailing on the seas, they did not combat water very well.
Mio searched around for some sort of makeshift shelter to bring this pirate. It was only when she noticed the waterfall that she remembered it had a concave large enough to accommodate both of them. Mio lifted the pirate's shirt and revealed her wound which was still on its way to closing fully. If she risked moving her in any way, it might re-open.
Mio sank back into the water and found a few more patches that would suffice as a temporary adhesive. When she finished placing it over her abdomen she considered that the only way she'd bring her to the concave would be through dragging her into the water. She double checked where the wound was again and pressed on it firmly hoping it would do. Mio pulled the girl's arm into the water until her head rested right against her collarbone.
A blush suffused her cheeks. It felt strange having her this close to her body. She tried not to stare at the human's face for too long and went back to working her into the water. If she didn't straighten herself out she might drown the poor girl. Mio heaved until she managed to keep the pirate afloat. She took another tempting glance down at the girl in her arms while her raven hair lingered against her cheeks.
She didn't notice it before, but in the water, here in her arms, the girl was prettier than she realized.
Mio shook her head and began kicking her fins to guide them towards the concave. She needed to focus on her goal, not drool over this strange, pretty pirate. When she finally got through, she hoisted her over the cold, stoney concave rather ungracefully. Mio winced as the girl's lithe, drenched body lay there prone, on her stomach. She rolled her over until she was on her back again.
Mio kept her close to the water but far enough to ensure that she wouldn't slip in and drown. The patches she used to keep her wound closed managed to prevent re-opening the cut. With the rainfall still beating down outside, Mio stayed by the pirate and ran her hand through her wet, coarse hair.
She wondered why this pirate looked so familiar to her. Surely, there was some reason behind this gut feeling. Mio lay her head on the girl's chest and felt her warmth seeping to her cheek. She loved the soft, comforting warmth from her body.
"Who are you?" She whispered until she fell asleep.
The Pirate
Ritsu balanced one large golden orb in her hand and spun it at the tip of her finger before it fell off and rolled to the ground. The ship swayed gently as she left it there and thrummed her fingers looking for another one of her vast treasures to play with. She smiled, took the telescope on the nearest shelf and pulled it open, looking out until she found her lovely map maker on the other end. Ritsu lowered the telescope in her hand and casually made her way to the girl on the opposite side of her quarters.
Megumi worked on the paper diligently, drawing out lines and shapes with the quill pen in her hand. When the low light of the room wasn't enough for her to survey her entire work, she stepped out of her chair and stood to get a better view. A finger rested over her lips as she scanned the piece from left to right.
"Someone's working hard," Ritsu said as she stood beside Megumi and studied the expansive map. "It's perfect."
Megumi shook her head as her ponytail shifted side to side. "Don't patronize me. It's nowhere near finished." Together they looked down at the map. Only half of it was drawn out. Ritsu traced the foreign lines with her index finger slowly. The world was so much bigger than she thought.
"You're very talented," Ritsu said with an appreciative smile.
Megumi looked at Ritsu for a very long time. She was used to being teased by her Captain, but this wasn't one of those moments. Ritsu actually meant it. She blushed and crossed her arms trying to brush off the rare, sincere compliment. "Well don't sell yourself short. If it weren't for you I wouldn't have known."
Ritsu pulled away and widened her smile. "All I supplied you was a ship."
And a grand one at that, Megumi finished in her head. Ritsu's ship was one of the fastest, most elegant model she'd ever seen. She looked back at the map and took the quill pen in her hand. Working while standing up was much better than when she sat down.
"You're going to have to teach me," Ritsu whispered as she stood behind Megumi and pressed her lips against the slope of her neck. Whenever she wore her ponytail, Ritsu knew she was working. The hairstyle had its own benefits.
"Ritsu..." Megumi sighed as she felt the brunette's hands slide up her thighs and hips.
"Teach me...Please."
At the "please", Ritsu rested her right hand over Megumi's lightly. Wherever her hand went, she immediately followed like a shadow. She glanced down at the sheet of paper and bit down on the soft patch of skin under her ear. Megumi immediately stopped and turned the quill pen into her palm. "Sorry, I was never really a good student."
Megumi glared at her with vicious intent. Ritsu's actions nearly ruined her best map. "I'm never going to finish if you keep this up."
Ritsu laughed softly, closed her eyes, and planted a sweet kiss on Megumi's cheek. "Then don't finish it." She laid a series of slow, possessive kisses until she reached the edge of her shoulder.
"Captain"
Ritsu pushed Megumi's body against the desk. "Right now I want to explore more than just this world." With her left hand, she removed Megumi's ponytail and watched her light brown hair cascade around her neck. She parted it to one side and watched her gripping the quill pen tightly in her hand.
Megumi swallowed audibly. She could feel the bulge in Ritsu's pants pressed firmly to her back. It had been at least four months since she officially joined Ritsu's crew. But during those months all they ever exchanged were playful banter and the occasional hints of mutual attraction. Before she'd even set foot on the ship Ritsu had given her a fair warning - she wasn't the usual pirate. Now she knew what her words meant.
"Then what would you like to explore...Captain?"
Megumi's discovery didn't shake her the least bit. Exploration was her true passion. Finding out what else was out there in the world brought her thrill and pleasure. This new revelation was no different.
"You," Ritsu said into her ear huskily. "I want to know every part of you."
Megumi bit her bottom lip and studied the room with the corner of her eyes. She wondered if Ritsu would take her on the floor or on the bed. Instead, she stayed with her back to her Captain's chest. She had her answer. She would be taken here now, just as she was.
Ritsu waited, running her hands over Megumi's thighs, across her lower back, slipping a hand between her legs to caress her underneath her dress. Garter belts. Ritsu smiled at her own discovery and outlined the lacy fabric that hugged her waist and strapped her stockings. She didn't know her new map maker had such refined taste.
With her fingers, Ritsu caressed Megumi's outer lips, bordered by only the thin fabric of her panty. "Tell me what you like." Ritsu instructed and cupped her sex fully with her hand. Megumi's wetness had seeped through her underwear and now all she felt was the warm heat of her arousal.
Megumi took deep breaths as Ritsu stroked her slowly, gently. "Not much of a pirate are you," she teased. "Find out yourself. You are the explorer not me."
Ritsu rolled her eyes and laughed. "You have a point. Very well." She moved her hands to where the straps were and tugged at them, hearing the sound rebounding against Megumi's thighs before releasing them. Ritsu hooked her fingers between her map maker's underwear and lowered them until they slid to the floor. With her middle finger she kneaded small, sharp circles around her clit until all she heard was her breathing shift into soft pants. "Light touching she likes."
Megumi closed her eyes and allowed herself to fall back into Ritsu's chest. "She does like."
"I wonder..." Ritsu slipped a finger inside Megumi, whose knees weakened for a brief moment. "What about this?" she asked breathlessly, moving her finger in and out.
"Yes, that too."
"More?" Ritsu introduced another finger into Megumi, who began contracting in her hand. Her heart fluttered in her chest as she felt her innards clenching and unclenching around her.
Megumi exhaled deeply and clutched the quill in her hand so tightly the tip pierced her palm. She bent over the desk and released a breath, unable to hide the satisfied moans from the back of her throat. "Oh God, yes!" Ritsu grinned at the back of her spine and thrust her fingers, making slow circles inside her. Megumi instinctively widened her legs as she felt herself being spread out.
"Any pain?" Ritsu asked out of curiosity as she stretched her out with a third finger. Megumi winced and silently nodded. She eased her way out and bent down for a kiss. "It will hurt. But it will get better," she whispered softly into Megumi's ear. "Relax. Don't fight me."
Megumi nodded again as Ritsu pulled her hand back and opened her pants. She spent countless nights thinking of taking her, especially when she worked late at night at the corner of her own quarters. The temptation was there, every day and every night. But Ritsu made no move until Megumi was in her crew for at least four months.
She'd waited that long because she didn't just want to take her. She wanted to know her - inside and out.
Ritsu bent over Megumi and kissed her as she lifted her dress and pressed her cock against her ass. Megumi felt the slight shiver in her body and closed her eyes. "Don't fight me," Ritsu reminded her. She spread her underneath with her fingers and circled her clit once more until Megumi was so eager for her she stood on her tiptoes in readiness.
When Ritsu finally penetrated her it was slow and methodical.
Megumi groaned and gripped the map beneath her palms, slightly crumpling it in her hands. Her body rebelled at first not wanting to let it in. But she breathed through the discomfort and eventually accepted the pain. Ritsu kissed her mouth and her cheek lovingly. For a minute all she could feel was Ritsu inside her, pulsing and throbbing. She didn't move or thrust, at least not yet. Not until she was ready. "I'm okay," she reassured her with a shaky breath.
Ritsu groaned, feeling herself be consumed by her wet, warm heat. She began thrusting, moving slowly at first and as gently as she possibly could. She pressed her lips right against Megumi's ear, while her hands stayed right on her hips.
Megumi moaned quietly, her hot breath steaming under the paper beneath her elbows. She arched back and Ritsu pushed down and deep into her, eliciting both a muscle spasm and a sharp gasp. "Ritsu...faster" Megumi begged with half-lidded eyes. The pain had ebbed away completely and now all she wanted was the pleasure she was promised.
Ritsu increased her pace and concentrated on anything but the sound of Megumi's soft, melodic moans. With every push she gasped and with every pull she sighed. Ritsu nipped at her ear then thrust into her with all she had. She dropped a deep kiss onto her neck and slipped her hand down the front of Megumi's dress. For a few short but wonderful minutes, she teased her nipples until they were brought to pert attention. She removed her hands, pressed her fingers right to Megumi's clit, and pushed around it gently then roughly. Her thrusts continued and Megumi cried underneath her.
"Come for me, love."
Megumi's contractions increased around Ritsu. Her heart raced and something wound tight in her stomach…tight…tighter…Ritsu increased her pressure and Megumi found her free hand joining the brunette's, twining them together. She lifted her hips and tiptoed, coming hard with a shuddering gasp.
"Ritsu!"
Ritsu opened her eyes and shuddered on the floor. She took shallow breaths and swallowed hard. For a moment she didn't know where she was until she looked up and saw how high up she was. When she re-oriented herself to the crow's nest she sighed and threaded both hands into her hair.
The dream had seemed so real, so vivid...
But that was all it was. A dream. A bittersweet memory.
Ritsu peered down and noticed that the liveliness of the town had died considerably. What time was it? How long had she fallen asleep? She rubbed her eyes and pulled out the telescope from her pocket. She scanned the townspeople below and watched the men stumbling from their own drunkenness. Ritsu moved over to the top of the hill where the lone manor sat. It was the same one she visited earlier, the one with the barred gates and girl in the black carriage.
She narrowed her eyes at the veranda and realized someone was staring out into the ocean. Blonde hair flew against her face and behind her. Ritsu realized it must've been the same girl from earlier. The sad, heavily distraught girl who had a certain beauty she hadn't seen before.
Ritsu lowered her telescope and grinned. She was no peeping tom. She wouldn't allow herself to stare for more than a few seconds. She would leave the girl be and return back to the inn to check on Yui. Ritsu put away the telescope and began her descent from the rigging. When she walked on the deck she heard the distinct sound of a water splashing. She raced to the quarter helm and saw the water white with the aftershock of something heavy dropping. Ritsu looked up at the veranda and realized the blonde girl from earlier was missing.
The girl?
Ritsu looked out to the port and town. Half the town was asleep. No one had seen her fall. If that was the case, no one would come to her aid. But she was here and she'd witnessed it firsthand. She removed her frock coat, tricorne and weapons.
"Bloody hell," she muttered under her breath before diving into the water.
The Mermaid
When Mio visited the pirate for the seventh day, she swam close and rested her chin on the girl's chest. She checked her temperature with her hand and was relieved to find it had gone down. But still, the girl hadn't moved, hadn't woken from her mystic slumber. Would she ever wake? Would she ever see the light of day come again?
Mio slumped on the pirate's body and pressed her forehead to her warm chest. Her heart was still beating. There was still a chance.
She eased away and straightened herself out. Maybe a song might help. They did lure in sailors with the sound of their voices. Could it possibly guide a soul back to a body?
Mio cleared her throat and closed her eyes. Quietly in a voice both melodic and tremulous, she began to sing a sea shanty she heard many times.
"Upon one summer's morning, I carelessly did stray,
Down by the Walls of Wapping, where I met a sailor gay..."
Mio moved to the girl's head and stroked her cheek gently.
"Conversing with a young lass, who seem'd to be in pain,
Saying, William, when you go, I fear you will ne'er return again."
Mio's voice tightened as she kept her eyes on the sleeping pirate.
"Come all you pretty fair maids, whoever you may be
Who love a jolly sailor bold that ploughs the raging sea,
While up aloft, in storm or gale, from me his absence mourn,
And firmly pray, arrive the day, he home will safe return."
Mio pressed her hand ontop of the pirate's.
"My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold,
There is nothing can console me but my jolly sailor bold."
She lowered her head and finished the song. But she knew it would do the girl no good. It was only a simple song. A song meant to lure men to their deaths. Mio began to retract her hand but the moment she did, the pirate's hand moved to hold hers.
"You have...a beautiful voice."
Mio looked up at the pirate who grinned weakly at her. She was awake? Mio's eyes widened with shock and awe.
She was awake.
A/N:The song Mio sang is Jolly Sailor Bold which was sung by the mermaids in the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie. So if you'd like to hear what the melody sounds like go ahead and give it a listen.
