Good evening! We are almost to the end. I apologize for being so late with this posting. Work has really been hitting me hard. But, like I said, the story is finished. It just takes me time to edit the chapter and even then, I know there will be a few mistakes in. But, hopefully, you'll be able to ignore them. Feel free to shout out if I missed something. Hope you like it.

Tj12398: Don't be mad at Jessie. It's my fault. You know that drama is also somewhat built on the annoying…well, here you go. LOL! Yes, the names of the videos were the titles of some of the episodes. Oh, and yes, I could never have Jonny hug Benton with real feeling…yet. He doesn't know him. It would just seem out of place. Well, hope you keep enjoying this fic and my future ones to come.

Goddess Evie: I think you'll like this chapter! ;)

JdCocoagirl: Well, I guess I'm at a loss for words too. LOL! Hope you enjoy this chapter my dear!

Chapter 26

After resting for two and a half hours at the motel, the Master showered, redressed and was ready fairly quickly before heading back to the airport. He was tired, but a little more refreshed than before. There'll be time to rest once we're at Amsterdam, he thought as he waited for the boarding announcement from his seat.

They both would. He was sure his son was as tired as he was after the ordeal he had gone through these past few days.

There wasn't much time to eat a decent meal, so Master managed to stop at one of the airport food courts and buy himself a large cup of tea while he waited. Not that hunger was an issue at the moment. The Master had no appetite. All he wanted was for Aiden to come back to him. Once he boarded with his son, he knew his appetite would return.

The woman in the counter lifted her microphone, "Good afternoon passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 1004 to Amsterdam. We are now inviting first class passengers to begin boarding at this time."

It was time to board, but Aiden was still nowhere in sight. This worried him. He had taught his son to be punctual. Aiden was always on time. His mind raced to the call an hour earlier. Aidan seemed short. He was short most of the time when on missions, but this time the Master noted a surge of emotions. He dare thought it was anger. What is going on in my son's head?

The slender woman with the blue and white uniform, the colors of her airline continued, "Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately twenty minutes. Thank you for your time and patience. On behalf of United Airlines, we wish you all a great flight."

I'm over thinking, the Master thought to himself. There's nothing wrong. Aidan is fine. And if he wasn't? The Master thought long and hard. He was going to do everything in his power to make whatever was wrong right. He had no doubts he would. After all, Aidan trusted him. And, he wanted nothing more than that trust to turn into love.

As soon as Race and Zack made it close to the cabin, they knew something was wrong. Race had to thank the heavens above that Zack had initially driven to the airport in his car. They didn't need to wait for a rental to become available. The car was secure in a garage specifically for travelers.

They parked the car a few feet away from the cabin so as to not draw attention. The sun had almost set and it was already getting dark. As they walked closer to the cabin, both men noticed that there was no light anywhere inside or outside the structure. The entire place was completely dark.

"You think they are still in there?" Zack asked as he continued surveying the area.

"I'm not sure," Race answered. "This doesn't look good. The place looks empty. Something happened Zack," his voice was nervous.

"How do you know?" Zack kept looking ahead at the darkness.

"Because, Jessie would have contacted us by now," he answered, as that thought kept playing in his mind. Race closed his eyes, hoping to God he wouldn't find his little girl in there.

"I can go ahead," Zack suggested, knowing exactly what was running in Race's mind. "You can cover me until I give you the all clear."

Race swallowed and nodded. So unlike me, he thought as he watch Zack move ahead. Usually, he was all action, but the thought of finding his daughter…he just couldn't do it. Benton lived like this for years and I can't even handle a few minutes…

Zack slowly went ahead as Race looked around and trailed a few feet behind. As soon as he reached the cabin, he could tell that something had in fact gone wrong. He saw a litter of bullet holes that penetrated the wood and the windows.

"Stay back Race," Zack seriously and firmly stated.

"Zack—"

"Stay back!" his friend once again ordered in a harsh whisper.

Race did as told. His legs began to feel weak before praying to God silently.

Zack went in through the front door. Surprisingly, it was open. Carefully, he search through the somewhat dimmed area before turning on the lights. He held his breath and began walking about and searching each room. He found no one. Letting out a breath he was holding, Zack finally yelled out, "Race! It's clear. Come on in."

The former I-1 agent willed himself to answer the call, and ran in. A wave of calmness splashed through him. Zack would have never called him in if something had in fact, happened.

When he approached closer, he asked, "What did you find?"

"Well," Zack said as he walked out, "Neither Jonny or Jessie are here. It looks like they were attacked and they managed to get away, except—"

"Except what?"

"I found some blood in the bathroom," he answered, "And some used first aid supplies. It may be Jonny's but something tells me I may be wrong. They wouldn't have come back to the area. My gut feeling tells me it's the attackers."

Race walked in to the bathroom and saw what Zack had told him. Bandaids, gauzes and antibiotic liquids were scattered all over the sink.

"Jonny must have wounded him," Race answered as he carefully picked up the shirt that was laying on the floor, "shoulder wound."

"Could the kids be somewhere out there?"

"No," Race shook his head, "If I were Jonny and I've been made, I'd get the hell away from this place as fast as possible."

"Then," Zack sighed, "Where are they?"

Race looked at his friend with worry, "I have no idea."

Jessie had dozed off for a bit, knowing that Jonny was still getting dressed in the bathroom, "How long does it take you to get ready?" she murmured to herself half asleep. Then, suddenly realizing she HAD in fact fallen asleep, she snapped open her eyes, looked around and found the room empty. "Jonny!" she said aloud. "Jonny!" she once again said as she rose from the bed and started looking around her room. "Damn it!"

Jessie ran to her closet and put on a pair of black flats before running down the stairs. "IRIS, is there anyone else here?"

"Dr. Quest is in the library," the voice activated computer answered.

"What?" Jessie couldn't believe what she had just heard. She stopped for a moment, but then decided that if Jonny had in fact left, she would need all the help she could get. And right now, every second counted.

When she entered the library, she found Dr. Quest lying on the sofa, completely passed out. She ran to him, "Dr. Quest! Are you alright? Dr. Quest wake up!"

The doctor stirred for a moment before finally opening his eyes. It took him a moment to realize what had happened, "Jessie!" He looked around, "Where's Jonny?"

"I'm not sure," she answered. "I had dozed off in my bedroom. When I woke, he was gone." Jessie had no idea what she was saying, but she noticed that Dr. Quest, at the moment, didn't care. He wanted to know where his son was just as much as she wanted to know.

Getting up he said, "I don't think you dozed off, I think he knocked you out like he did to me."

Jessie didn't have the time to correct him, "Dr. Quest, we must find him!"

"I know," he answered. "Did he tell you where he was headed?"

Jessie turned to look at the clock hanging from the wall. Noticing the time, she answered, "Airport. He's going to the airport. He is going to Amsterdam."

At that moment, Claire, Hadji and Alex entered the compound.

"Father!" Hadji called out.

"I'm here, son," Dr. Quest responded when he heard the voice of his older son. When Hadji came, his eyes widened in surprise, "Jessie!" He ran toward her.

"Hadj!" Jessie responded taking her friend in her arms, "I'm so glad to see you, but we don't have much time."

"Jess!"

Claire then went to her friend who also hugged her as she spoke, "Jonny's on his way to the airport to meet the Master."

"The who?" Dr. Quest asked.

"I'll explain later," she answered. "Right now, we need to get to the airport before that flight leaves."

"The airport is about 45 minutes away without traffic," Alex interjected. "We need to move now."

Jessie didn't know who the woman was, but at that moment, she didn't care. If she could help, that is all that mattered to her.

"Let's go," Benton said as he walked ahead of the group. "Claire, I still need information on Dr. Crawford. My laptop is in my travelling bag. I need you to retrieve the information and show Alex everything."

"I'll get right on it," she answered with nod.

"Hadji, Jessie, we're going to the airport," Benton continued. "We'll call Race and tell him everything on our way there."

The three were about to leave when Claire grabbed Hadji's arm, "Be careful," she told him before giving him a quick kiss on his lips.

Hadji smiled, "I will."

The three went over to the garage to find a car. Benton was adamant. He was bringing his son home tonight.

As Phil Corvin entered I-1 headquarters, he was a little unnerved by the scene. Agents were working calmly at their desks. Others stood by the cooler chatting away the rest of the evening. A few were heading out as the day ended for them.

The agent would have assumed that all hell would be breaking lose inside headquarters as they looked for Crawford or Jonny himself. But nothing was happening, nothing at all.

"Hey, Corvin," he heard a deep voice coming up from behind, "Where have you been all afternoon?" It was Henry Messick, one of the most seasoned agents in I-1. Messick was already getting ready for retirement, two years, three months and fifteen days, he repeated to his colleagues almost every day. The man was a pretty good agent, although Corvin at times thought the prospect of retiring soon had made him a bit…lazy.

"I've been working a case, Messick," he answered, "What have you been doing all day? Other than counting your days till you leave the hen house?"

"Aren't we touchy today," the older man snorted. "I'll have you know I've been working with our Intelligence Technology Unit to find out who broke into our systems earlier today."

That stopped Phil. Turning around to look at the stocky balding man with olive eyes, he asked, "Someone breached the system? Have they found out anything?"

"No," he answered missing the edge in Corvin's tone. "Whoever did it, made sure to leave no traces. Honestly, I don't think we are ever going to find them."

"Did you find out what they took?" Phil carefully asked, not wanting to sound more interested than he had to, but at the same time knowing that Messick would expect that question to come next.

Messick rolled his eyes, "Nothing. It was a squeaky clean job. I.T. didn't even know they were there until it was too late.

Corvin snorted, acting frustrated. "This is a brand new breed of criminals we are dealing with."

"Ain't that the truth!" the agent answered.

"Hey Henry," Phil began to change the topic, "Where's Agent Grant? Is he working at headquarters or do you know if he's out on the field?"

The older agent looked at Corvin with confusion, "Grant? Who the hell is Grant?"

Phil looked at him with greater surprise, "We have an I-1 Director from the European office here. He arrived a few hours ago. He's working the Quest case. Where have you been today, Henry?"

"Phil, I've been here all day. Haven't been out on the field," he replied with sudden seriousness, "No one by that name has come in. The Quest case? Since when have we been working that? It's been a cold case for years."

"As a matter of fact, it isn't," Corvin answered mostly to himself. Retrieving his phone from his pocket, he began trying to locate Ethan. Where the hell is he?

There was at least two things that most people didn't know about Benton Quest. One was that he was a car enthusiast. The man loved cars and his work and fortune gave him the opportunity to allow himself to collect certain vehicles that excited him. Among the many in his collection was a silver Jaguar Supersport SWB. He never took it out, unless it was a special occasion. This was a special occasion because he needed to get to the airport faster than he ever thought possible.

The second was that Race spent six months training him on defensive driving maneuvers. Race thought it would be a great idea that the doctor knew how to drive not only defensively, but with speed. With the lives that they led, it was a necessity. Benton agreed and, according to Race, loved it more than anyone imagined.

So when he took the highway, he knew exactly how to evade cars, shift lanes without getting into an accident or harming others. Jessie was astounded that the doctor knew so much. Hadji, in the back seat, was quiet. Jessie thought he had turned white at one moment.

"Guess, Dad taught you well," Jessie said as Doctor Quest shifted yet onto another lane to pass the ongoing traffic.

"Very well," the doctor said still looking ahead, "Jessie, I need you to call your father. He was going up to the cabin to find you and Jonny."

"Oh!" the girl quickly went to the dash and pressed the blue tooth option on the screen. "Call Race Bannon," she said. As the computer dialed, Jessie said, "We were attacked in there. Some guy shot up the cabin, went after us. If it wasn't for Jonny, I would have been dead."

"What did the guy look like?"

Jessie responded. "Average height, balding man with black glasses—"

"Oliver Crawford," Benton said interrupting Jessie immediately. "He's after Jonny."

"Yes," she nodded. "I got the impression that he hates him for some reason."

"Benton!" Race's voice was heard from the Bluetooth system in the car. "Something happened in the cabin."

"Dad!" Jessie answered immediately, "I'm fine. I'm with Dr. Quest and Hadji now."

"Ponchita?" Jessie could hear the relief in her father's voice when he called her by her nickname, "Thank God. Are you alright?"

"Yes," she nodded, "I'm fine, Dad."

"What's going on? Where's Jonny? Is he okay?"

"Jonny's fine, for now," Benton answered. "Race I need you and Zack to meet me at the airport. Jonny's boarding a flight to Amsterdam, we need to stop him."

"Amsterdam? Damn it," Race replied with frustration. "When does the flight leave?"

"Twenty five minutes," Hadji answered. "You are probably closer to him than we are at the moment. You will have to stall him."

"I will," he answered. "Listen are you sure that Jonny's not hurt?"

"He's fine Dad," Jessie responded with concern, "Why are you asking?"

"In the cabin," he began, "We found a man's bloody shirt, gauzes and first aid supplies laying all over the bathroom. There was also blood in the sink. We thought it belonged to Jonny or the attacker's."

"Jonny must have shot the guy that was after us," she immediately said.

"It was Crawford, Race," Benton chimed. "Somehow, he found Jonny and Jessie. He's after him."

"Oh my God," Jessie suddenly whispered as a realization hit her. "Dad, was there a computer in the cabin?"

"No," he answered. "Zack and I went through the place, we found your bags only. Why do you ask?"

"How about Hadji's car?"

"No, no cars," her father answered.

"Jonny referred to him as the Doctor," she answered. "He said that he never thought it was him who would be after him, he thought it was the Master."

Benton was still surprised after knowing there was another person keeping him away from his son. All this time, he thought it was Crawford running the show.

"Yes," Jessie nodded, "The Doctor is second to the Master. If Crawford was hurt and he made it to the cabin…and the computer is not there…then it is safe to say that he knows where Jonny is going and how to find him."

"If he wants him dead, he'll find him at the airport on that flight," Race sighed.

"Dad, he has weapons," she added. "Jonny had a bag full of them in that cabin. If the Doctor has them, he will be armed."

"Would he be able to pass through checkpoint?" Hadji asked.

"Jonny's bag has an artillery of gizmos," Jessie responded, "I wouldn't be surprised if in fact he had something to stop any machine from identifying a gun."

"This is unbelievable," Race finally said, "Okay, we are heading to the airport. Just meet of there as soon as possible."

"We will," Benton replied.

"Jessie, honey," Race said, "Be careful when you get there. I nearly had a heart attack in that cabin. I don't need a second."

Jessie smiled a little, "I'll be careful Dad."

"See you there," Race immediately hung up.

Benton didn't say a word. He drove faster.

Ethan walked around impatiently. Looking around the area, he found no signs or immediate danger. For the moment, he was safe. His phone vibrated from his pocket. He retrieved it and read the text message. It was from Phil Corvin.

Where are you? You didn't report to headquarters.

Texting back, Ethan answered, I was contacted by I-1 Europe with a lead for the case I was working on before this one. I'm waiting for my contact.

A few seconds later…

Ethan, you are working the Quest case.

He typed back, As a favor. Listen, I'll contact you as soon as I can. I have to take this. Can't let my case run cold.

A few seconds later, there was no answer from Corvin. Good, he didn't have the time to explain everything at the moment.

Looking around once again, Ethan inwardly smiled. His contact was here.

"This has been the craziest seventy-two hours of my life," Zack said as he drove back to the airport. "I'm telling you Race, it will be too soon before I see an airport again."

Race remained quiet, pensive.

"What are you thinking?"

Turning to his friend, the former I-1 agent answered, "I'm trying to figure out how to defend myself if Jonny attacks me. I can't hurt him."

"Race, you need to do what you need to do," Zack answered. "Hey!" he immediately said as Race gave him a look that would kill, "I don't mean it that way, you idiot! I mean, you need to stop the kid. If you have to, you'll need to use minimum force."

"I'm trying to avoid that," he mentioned as he looked out at dark tinted windows.

"Let's hope it may not come to that, but you need to be prepared. This isn't the kid that you went on fishing trips or the one you taught judo to. This isn't the good natured kid, we loved. We need to stop whatever he has become first before we fight to bring back who he was."

Race knew that Zack was right, but he prayed that it wouldn't have to go too far tonight.

As soon as he arrived to the airport, Jonny found the locker area and the locker that had been assigned to him. He remembered the combination to open it and was immediately retrieved the ticket, the passport and the money. There was also a jacket. Amsterdam is a bit chilly during this time of the year, he thought humorlessly. When he opened the passport he saw yet another alias, Paul Sommer. He also saw another surprise, an Air Marshall badge and a gun. Perfect, he thought. There wouldn't be a problem walking in with a piece.

Jonny checked himself in. Once they saw the badge, no one had an issue with him walking through check in with a gun. He walked over the terminal where he was supposed to meet the Master.

As expected, the Master was waiting for him at their rendezvous point.

"You barely made it DR128," he whispered to his son as he studied him.

"My apologies," Jonny answered seriously. "The addresses in the states are a bit confusing at times."

"Are you alright?" the Master asked as he further studied his son's face. DR128 looked worn out, tired. Usually he was good at hiding it, but something must have happened in the last couple of hours.

"I'm alright," Jonny answered, looking back at the Master with what he perceived to be a defiant stare.

The Master wasn't sure what was going on, but before he could ask, he needed to get his son on that plane. There would be plenty of time to figure out what was wrong after they boarded. "Then, shall we board?"

"Not yet," Jonny replied looking at the surprised features of his mentor and father figure. "We need to talk. Sit down."

"DR128—"

Jonny pulled his jacket open conspicuously and showed the Master the gun he kept on his holster, "You gave me the gun remember? And the badge. Unless, you want me to cause a scene and take you in, I suggest you sit down, Master."

Taking a seat, the Master looked around as Jonny sat across from him. People were already making the line to begin boarding, there was barely anyone in their area. Looking back at the blonde hair youth, he said, "You're making a mistake."

"What did you do to me?" Jonny asked ignoring the Master's last statement.

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean!" Jonny raised his voice. He paused for a moment and looked at his mentor with despise, "I know the truth. I know who I am. I know where I came from. What I don't know is how I ended up here. Why can't I remember them? My family, my own father!"

"He's not your father!" Master's anger rose to the point that Jonny sat back. "You don't know anything Aidan. You still have a lot more you don't know."

"My name is not Aidan," Jonny began before he was cut off.

"Yes it is!" Master responded with a mix of desperation and anger, "It is the name your mother picked out for you. The only thing you have in common with Benton Quest is his wife Rachel. Rachel Quest was your mother But I, I am your father!"

"No," Jonny shook his head, "That's not true. You're lying, just like you've lied about everything else."

The Master leaned forward, "I'm not lying son. Benton is…he's convinced that you are his son, but you are not. You are my son and I never meant to lie to you. This, all this was done to protect you. Please, let me explain." The Master stood up and looked at his son, "Let's board and I will explain to you everything. Give me a chance and I promise you, you will know the truth."

Jonny looked at the master for a moment before finally standing up. But, part of him was still unsure. Should he go with this man and learn supposedly the truth? Could he leave Jessica? He couldn't believe that she had been lying all this time. She would never lie to him. That, he was sure of.

"Please son, come with me," Master continued, "If you come, you will know everything."

"You have to promise me one thing," Jonny sighed, deciding he would go. "No harm will come to Jessica."

She's still alive! Master thought. "You didn't—"

"No," he immediately said, "And if I find out you harmed her, I will kill you. Whether you are my real father or not."

"I promise that no harm will come to her Aidan," The Master said, putting his hand on Jonny's shoulder and guiding him to the boarding area. The two began to walk when they heard another voice suddenly come behind them.

"I don't think you should promises like that Master."

Both men turned around and watched as Oliver Crawford walked toward them.

"Oliver!" the Master was shocked. He had sent out orders for the doctor's permanent dismissal, "What the hell are you doing here?"

Crawford did not bother answering. That would give DR128 time to act. Instead, he pulled out the gun from his jacket and shot Jonny in the chest.

"No!" Master screamed as he attempted to go to his son.

"Stop!" Crawford's eyes looked wild. The crowd around them screamed and ran to get away from the scene. "You stay away from him! You let that brat die. It's something that should have happened years ago so that we wouldn't be in this mess today."

"What have you done?" Master yelled. "Oliver have you complete gone out of your mind?"

"Me?" the doctor yelled as airport security made their way around the area. "You caused this! We could have had it all. Everything…you threw it all away for this…this bastard!" He pointed the gun again at Jonny who was trying to stay awake.

"Oliver don't!"

"Put the gun down!" they heard another officer yell from the other side of the area they were in. "Now!"

Oliver laughed, "I have nothing to lose at this point. You made me lose everything that was precious to me. Why shouldn't you…Master?' The Doctor pointed the gun at the Master without realizing that Jonny had already pulled out his.

At that precise moment, Race and Zack ran into the scene, the doctor yelled, "Goodbye you son of a—"

Suddenly, the doctor felt a bullet go through him. Then another. Sensing his end the doctor went down.

Master looked down and watched as his son collapsed back on the floor. Without a thought, he went to him, "No, no, no…Aidan, stay awake. Help is coming. You need to stay awake."

Jonny looked firmly into his Master's eyes, "My…my name is…Jonny. And you…are not…my Master…anymore."

"Ethan!"

Looking up the Master saw Race Bannon looking at with anger and overall surprise.

"Ethan, don't tell me…"

"Race," Ethan's voice cracked, "Save my son."

"Paramedics are on their way," Zack said coming from behind. Looking just as surprised as Race, he went to Ethan, "How could you? Damn it Ethan!" he said before putting the cuff on him. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do or say…" he began as he took Ethan away.

Race immediately went to Jonny, whose eyes were closing, "No kiddo. Look at me. Hey, hey! Look at me!"

Jonny opened his eyes.

"Stay with me. Keep listening to my voice," Race implored. "Damn it Jonny, don't you dare leave us again!"

"Who…who are…"

"Jonny!"

Race suddenly heard his daughter's voice. Looking up, Jessie was already by Jonny's side "Jonny, I'm here."

"Jess…" he whispered. "I'm sorry. I…love…"

"I love you too," she cried caressing his hair with her hand, "Just keep looking at me okay? I need you to keep looking at me."

He nodded slightly as the paramedics arrived and pulled her away. Soon Benton was by his son's side, holding his hand while the paramedics worked on him. Jonny looked at his father for a moment before squeezing his father's hand gently. The only signal he could give him to show his appreciation in knowing he was there.

"Son, I'm here," Benton said, trying to keep calm. "You need to be okay. I need you back in my life." He was glad when his son nodded again, fully understanding the words he heard.

Jessie stood in the sidelines with her father. Hadji held her gently. Her eyes never lost contact with Jonny's. She was the last thing Jonny saw before the world went black.
