I know, I am awful. I am so sorry this took so long.
But over 1,000 reviews for only 17 chapters? Are you trying to make me cry?
So this goes out to winkgirl1997 who was my 1000th reviewer!
I own nothing but the plot…
"Oh bloody hell, there are three of them," Kol said watching as Katherine, Elena, and Amara all hugged. Only their hair set them apart. Kat had her hair in her usual curls while Elena preferred loose waves. Amara's hair was long and straight going almost to her waist. You could tell that Elena and Katherine were older, but still the resemblance was uncanny. Kol had never met Amara before now. Whenever Amara came to visit her sisters in Chicago he was always left out. Kol had no idea why. He didn't pray on the young.
"You must be Kol," Amara said walking over, "I have heard a lot about you."
"Good things I presume?" Kol said.
"Of course," Amara said with her knowing Gilbert smile.
"Hey birthday girl," Caroline said and hugged Baby Gilbert. When they broke apart Amara turned to Ella.
"Look how big you are!" Amara said kneeling so she was eye level with the little girl. "Give me a hug." Ella hugged her and then walked over to Klaus and took his hand.
"This is my Daddy," Ella said pulling Klaus forward.
"Oh, wow," Amara said taking him in, "Not bad Care." Caroline proceeded to blush.
"Call me Klaus," Klaus said to Amara and kissed her cheek, "Happy birthday."
"Thank you," Amara said her cheeks a little pink, "Someone has been wanting to meet you for a long time." Klaus followed Amara's gaze to a young man who was looking at him with wide eyes. Klaus walked over to him.
"Hello, you must be Jeremy," Klaus said but Jeremy didn't say anything. Klaus looked at the girl next to him.
"I'm Anna," Anna said shaking his hand, "This is Jeremy. He is a big fan of your work, and I promise is not normally like this."
"Jer, wake up!" Katherine said walking over, "Klaus isn't a god for heaven's sake. He can actually be a bit of a prick to be honest."
"Kat!" Caroline exclaimed motioning at Ella who was holding Amara's hand. This seemed to snap Jeremy out of his trance.
"Sorry it is such an honor to meet you," Jeremy said finally finding his voice. "I am a big fan, Mr. Mikaelson."
"Call me Klaus," Klaus said, "I hear you are an artist yourself?"
"Oh no, I just sketch a little bit," Jeremy said and Anna shoved him playfully.
"Don't make light of it," Anna scolded and looked back at Klaus, "He is really good."
"I could look at some of your work if you would like?" Klaus said and Jeremy's eyes went even wider. They looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets any moment.
"You would? That would…I mean that would be amazing," Jeremy said and Klaus laughed.
"We can do that later, but now let's just get out of the airport," Katherine said hooking her arm around Jeremy's. The group made their way out of the airport and soon they were on their way to Mystic Falls.
Caroline looked out the window as they drove. Everything looked the same. She was the one that was different. She wasn't girly Caroline anymore. When she got pregnant Caroline had to grow up fast because she wasn't just looking after herself, but someone else depended on her too. Caroline had outgrown Mystic Falls, and she could never go back. It was beautiful here though. There were flowers blooming, and the air was a lot fresher than in Chicago.
The summer months were coming closer and due to her and Klaus' agreement Ella would be staying them him for part of the summer, and perhaps every summer from here on out. Caroline was sad at the thought of Ella leaving, but at the same time it was important for Ella to get to know the other side of her family. Caroline was finally coming to terms with the fact that she didn't have to do this on her own, and she was trusting Klaus more and more. She could say she trusted him absolutely now with Ella, and when he left she would miss him too. Once they got to the Gilbert house Caroline excused herself, she had something to do.
Caroline looked down at the stone marker. Elizabeth Forbes, Beloved Sheriff and Mother… her whole life had been reduced to four words. Beloved Sheriff and Mother. It didn't mention Liz's strength to take on any challenge that came her way. It wasn't easy being a single parent, but Liz did her best. And when she got sick Liz didn't let that get her down. She never wallowed in self-pity.
"Your mother?" A voice said and Caroline turned to see Klaus walking over.
"Yeah," Caroline said, "I don't come to Mystic Falls anymore because there is nothing for me to come home too. I don't have family here like Kat, Elena, and Bonnie do. It was only me and my Mom."
"It hurts too much," Klaus said and Caroline nodded.
"Yeah," Caroline said again. "I guess small town life wasn't enough for me."
"Come on, Kol is talking with Bonnie's father and it is quite amusing to watch, I have never seen him so nervous," Klaus said and Caroline smiled.
"How did you know where I was?" Caroline asked as they walked.
"I put the pieces together, I just wanted to make sure you we okay," Klaus replied. Caroline smiled. Klaus could be quite sweet when he wanted to be.
"I'm fine," Caroline said, "And I am glad I am here. It is important Ella knows where she comes from. There is a lot of history here."
As they continued walking back to the Gilbert house Caroline saw Tyler walking hand in hand with Haley. Now Caroline had never been peculiarity fond of Haley. She had always had a thing for Tyler when they were in high school even though he was dating Caroline. So when they broke up Haley jumped at the opportunity to be with Tyler. It was fine. Caroline was glad Tyler was happy and had settled with a girl who didn't mind living in a small town like Mystic Falls. The only problem Caroline was having now was that she was walking next to Klaus her "boyfriend" and Tyler and Haley were coming this way.
"Kiss me," Caroline said when she abruptly stopped walking.
"Okay," Klaus said easily.
"But don't like kiss kiss me you know, I mean keep it classy we are on a public street," Caroline added.
"Okay," Klaus said again.
"But don't make it like a peck because come on we have to sell it and a peck really wouldn't really do the trick, or maybe a peck is enough because people in love still…" Caroline said but was cut off by Klaus laying one on her. God was he good at this.
"Caroline?" Tyler's voice said and they broke apart.
"Oh, hi, Tyler," Caroline said acting as cool as she could after a kiss like that. She felt Klaus slide his arm around her waist and pull her to him. He caught on quickly. Caroline put his arm around her in return.
"What are you doing back home?" Tyler asked.
"Amara's birthday," Caroline answered, "You remember my boyfriend Klaus?"
"Yeah, good to see you," Tyler said, "This is my wife, Haley."
"Pleasure," Klaus said shaking Haley's hand.
"Y…you too," Haley said and Caroline hid a smile. Klaus was very handsome, probably the handsomest man to come into Mystic Falls. Tyler was cute compared to Klaus.
"So how have you been?" Caroline asked.
"We have been good," Haley replied, "Kids are growing up fast."
"It is amazing how fast they grow," Caroline said glad they are finding some common ground.
"Do you guys want to get some coffee?" Tyler suggested. Caroline and Klaus looked at each other.
"We would love to mate, but my brother is here and if he doesn't have someone watching him he will go streaking through the town square," Klaus said, "But look us up if you are in England this summer."
"You are going to England?" Tyler said surprised.
"Yes, my family adores Caroline, and our daughter of course," Klaus told him. "Like I said, we better get back. Nice to see you again." Klaus took Caroline's hand and pulled her along before Tyler could say anything else.
"Thanks," Caroline said, "That was awkward."
"She doesn't like you too much, does she?" Klaus asked.
"Haley and I never got along, she is not a bad person, but she always wanted Tyler," Caroline replied, "Pined after him for years."
"Really?" Klaus said a little shocked.
"Yeah," Caroline said.
"What is the appeal?" Klaus asked, "I mean he is reasonably attractive bloke, but what is it about him? Is he a good shag?"
"Klaus!" Caroline said her cheeks turning pink.
"Well, is he?" Klaus said and Caroline said nothing. "He wasn't that good, was he?"
"He was alright," Caroline said.
"But I'm better," Klaus said with a smirk.
"I am not talking about this anymore," Caroline said her cheeks going from pink to red.
"I was, wasn't I?" Klaus said not letting go, "I am such a better shag."
"Shut up," Caroline said and started to walk faster leaving him behind. Klaus laughed to himself and ran to catch up with her.
K&C
"I don't like him," Kat said and Elena rolled her eyes. They were sitting in the Gilbert living room that night. Only the Gilberts were staying here because there wasn't enough room. Along with Anna and Stefan of course, but they had already gone to sleep. Everyone else was at the bed and breakfast at the edge of town. She and Katherine were discussing Amara's boyfriend Silas.
"Of course you don't," Elena said, "You wouldn't like anyone any of us dated."
"Not true," Katherine protested, "I love Anna and Stefan."
"That took years," Elena said and decided to change the subject, "Have you talked to Gran?"
"Yes, everything is set for us to visit her this summer, but our awful cousin is going to be there too," Katherine said and Elena groaned.
"Perfect," Elena said, "I don't know why Gran even invites her, everyone hates her."
"Hates who?" Amara asked walking over with Jeremy right behind her. Jeremy sat down on a chair and Amara jumped in his lap. He groaned, but didn't push her off.
"Our cousin," Elena answered.
"Oh god, there goes our summer," Jeremy said, "Can't Gran come here?"
"Gran doesn't leave Bulgaria," Amara reminded him.
"At least we will get a break when we visit Caroline in England," Elena said.
"How is Caroline feeling about leaving Ella with Klaus for a couple weeks?" Amara asked.
"Better now that she knows him pretty well," Katherine replied.
"What is going on there anyway, are they together?" Jeremy asked.
"Officially no, but they are totally hot for each other," Katherine said to her little brother.
"Too bad Klaus is awesome," Jeremy said and his sisters held back a smile. When Klaus got back from his walk with Caroline, Jeremy pounced on him talking about art and having Klaus look at his stuff. Klaus, thankfully, was very patient with him and answered all Jeremy's questions. Jeremy defiantly had a man-crush on him.
"Don't you have a girlfriend?" Katherine asked, "And I don't think he swings that way."
"Funny," Jeremy said.
"Show them," Amara nudged Jeremy.
"Not now," Jeremy said.
"Show us what?" Elena asked.
"Jer got Mom's engagement ring." Amara said spilling the secret for him.
"Amara!" Jeremy said. He obviously didn't want to share the news.
"That ring has been in your pocket for months, maybe if you tell more people you will actually get the balls to do it," Amara reasoned. "Anna will say yes, I don't know why you are nervous. I mean you have lived together for three years now, and were together through most of high school."
"That's great, Jeremy," Elena said and hugged him. Kat hugged him too, but was mostly quiet for the rest of the night. Elena was married, Jeremy was getting engaged, and even Amara had someone. Kat was all alone, but when she thought of her perfect guy only one man came to mind, and he couldn't be farther from her.
K&C
"Why did you bring me out here?" Caroline asked walking through the woods with Klaus following behind her.
"I want your confession." Klaus replied.
"What confession?" Caroline asked.
"About your feelings towards me," Klaus said and Caroline turned around to face him. "Come on now love, we both know that Jesse isn't right for you."
"And you are?" Caroline questioned.
"Perhaps, but first I need to know, what are your feelings towards me?" Klaus asked, "Answer me honestly and I will never bring it up again." Klaus walked closer until her back was against a tree and he was standing closely in front of her. Caroline gulped trying to keep her gaze from dropping to his lips. How could lips naturally be that red? No bad Caroline! Don't think about his lips! "Well?"
"You…you are Ella's father…I…" Caroline stammered. Klaus rubbed his nose against her cheek.
"Not what I mean love," He whispered into her ear, "How do you feel about me?" His hand sneaked up her ribcage into it was just under her breast. Caroline looked down at his hand.
"Don't…" Caroline said breathlessly. "I…" He didn't listen and his hand moved so it was covering her chest. Caroline gasped.
"How long has it been since someone has touched you?" Klaus said in that same whisper voice.
"5 years," Caroline said back.
"What a shame," Klaus said and before she knew it ripped her shirt open revealing her bra. She gasped again. "Look at me." Caroline moved her gaze from her ruined shirt to his eyes. Those deep eyes. Eyes that held such sadness and mystery, but also seemed to sparkle when he laughed. "How do you feel, love?" It was the "love" that set her off. Damn accent. Damn perfect sexy accent. Caroline grabbed the back of his neck and pulled her to him. Her hands traveled to the bottom of his shirt and took it off so they were now skin against skin because her bra had miraculously disappeared. Their pants followed and Caroline wrapped her legs around his waist as he pushed her harder against the tree and…
And…
There was a knock on the door.
Caroline sat up suddenly awake and pulled out of her dream.
"Care!" Kol called out knocking on the door again. "Everyone is already up! Jeez…what are you doing? You never sleep in."
"Coming!" Caroline said back, but she laid back down on the bed. She took a pillow and covered her mouth letting out a groan. This was just perfect. Since when did one simple kiss for show bring on scandalous sex dreams?
A couple minutes later Caroline made her way into the dining room. Mrs. Flowers had made a big breakfast and everyone was sitting at the table. Ella was on Klaus' lap.
"Morning Mommy!" Ella said with a smile.
"Morning baby," Caroline said trying not to look at Klaus.
"Not like you to oversleep," Bonnie commented once Caroline sat down next to her, "Especially with the party in a couple hours. Usually by this time you are ordering us around."
"Can't a girl sleep in every once in a while?" Caroline said wishing they would drop it. She then grabbed a piece of toast and started to butter it vigorously before eating it in two bites. She drowned her coffee. She felt someone watching her and looked up to see Klaus staring at her. Caroline's cheeks went pink, she looked back down at her food hoping he wouldn't notice.
"You alright, love?" Klaus asked.
"I'm fine!" Caroline snapped and everyone froze, "I'm fine." She said in a calmer tone, "Now come on, we are burning daylight."
K&C
"I had a sex dream about Klaus," Caroline said and Katherine spit out the sip of coffee she was drinking.
"Good morning to you too," Katherine said as they moved away from the crowd, "Well it is about time you got some, even if it was a dream."
"Funny," Caroline said.
"So, was it good?" Katherine asked and Caroline blushed.
"It was getting good, till Kol woke me up." Caroline said with a frown.
"Damn Kol," Katherine said. "What are you going to do?"
"What do you mean?" Caroline asked.
"I mean are you going to make your dreams a reality?" Katherine clarified.
"What?" Caroline said surprised as if it was the most ridiculous thing in the world, "Of course not. It would ruin everything. Besides, this is Amara's day. I am not going to obsess about it all day. I just had to tell someone."
"Right," Katherine said and Caroline went off to start telling people what to do, although Caroline ends up doing most of the work herself. Caroline did never settle for anything less than perfection. Katherine looked over at Klaus who was helping Jeremy and Stefan set up tables. Caroline kept sneaking glances at Klaus and he kept sneaking glances at her. Stubborn idiots.
"Hey Kat," Elena said coming up next to her, "What ya looking at?"
"Don't ask," Katherine said pushing her irritation aside. "Silas still keeping Amara occupied?"
"Yep, I think she will be happy about how everything turned out, Caroline outdid herself this time," Elena said looking around.
"Well you know Amara is like a baby sister to her too," Katherine said.
"Elena! Katherine! Don't just stand there!" Caroline called out. "Get to work!"
"We better get back," Elena said, "We don't want to risk Caroline's wrath."
The party was amazing of course. Everything Caroline planned was amazing. Amara absolutely loved it. It warmed all their hearts to see the girl so happy. Katherine held Amara's long hair back as she blew out her candles. Everyone cheered and Stefan started to cut the cake. Kol then proceeded to stuff cake into Bonnie's mouth. Half of it ended up on her face, but Kol was happy to kiss it away. Kol was good at the boyfriend stuff surprisingly. Ella was on Amara's lap as they ate their cake.
"Good cake," Klaus said coming up to Caroline.
"I know," Caroline said cheekily, "I picked it out." Klaus laughed.
"I have to leave tomorrow," Klaus said his smiling fading.
"I know, Katherine told me you have a show you can't miss and then after that you have a couple interviews," Caroline told him.
"It looks like the next time I will see you is when you and Ella come to me in a few weeks," Klaus said, "My mother is so anxious to meet her. As are Finn and Sage. Rebekah and Matt are going to fly back home too so they get to spend time with Ella, and the new baby of course." Klaus had mentioned that Sage had her baby. A boy. Caroline couldn't recall the name.
"I am happy she is getting to know the other side of her family," Caroline said.
"Have you thought more about it?" Klaus asked, "About me taking her for the rest of the summer?" They had spoken more about having Ella stay with alone with Klaus for more than two weeks. He was asking to have her for a month this year, and then every summer from now on. It wasn't an outrageous request, but Caroline still had trouble committing to it. Not only would it mean her being apart from Ella for even longer, but Klaus would insist that a custody agreement be brought up again with their lawyers making it official.
"Let's just see how this visit goes, and then I promise to consider it," Caroline said and Klaus didn't seem too happy with her answer, but didn't press the subject. Caroline shivered.
"You cold, love?" Klaus asked.
"A little," Caroline admitted.
"Here," Klaus said shrugging out of his jacket and putting it on her shoulders. "You look very nice by the way."
"Thank you," Caroline said blushing slightly. She had changed into a white dress for the occasion. It wasn't one of Katherine's fancy ones, she went for more simple today.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Ella called out looking for them.
"We're right here, sweetheart," Klaus spoke up and Ella ran over to him and Klaus picked her up. Caroline smiled at them, but couldn't shake what he had said. He said "we."
We.
Oh boy.
…..
What do you think? I rewrote the ending like 5 times, so I hope you like it.
I am not much of a fan or Elena or Haley, but if I write them into my stories so I get to write them how I wish they were.
Okay so Lane is trying sexy times, and if it is awful please tell me so I can get help on it.
Something like…
Lane, your smut is horrible, get professional help.
Thank you again for all your support. It is really amazing and touching that you like my writing.
I am also at a point where I will take ideas and suggestions if you have any. The next chapter will be when Ella and Caroline arrive in England and Ella meets all the Mikaelson's.
