Chapter One: Surprise Trip

"Potter!" I bolted upright in my cot in my small cupboard under the stairs at the sound of my name.

"Yes Aunt Petunia?" I sighed as I rubbed my forehead where I had bumped it on the bottom of the stairs.

"Get out here and make breakfast!" My shrill-voiced aunt commanded. I heard her unlock my door.

The sound of her footsteps faded as she walked away. I sighed as I slipped off of my cot, flinching when my cousin, Dudley Dursley, jumped up and down on the stairs above me.

I pulled on an old, faded T-shirt and a pair of basketball shorts. My trainers soon followed. I sighed again as I opened my small door and ducked out into the hallway.

"Hurry up! We're going to be late!" Petunia Dursley glared at me before turning to my whale of a cousin who was now sitting at the diningroom table. "Good morning my little Duddykins."

I turned to go into the kitchen, rolling my eyes as I went. 'I almost feel bad for poor ickle duddykins.' I glanced at him over my shoulder just as he let out a loud belch. 'Almost, but not quite.'

I went on to make a breakfast that consisted of french toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, and a pitcher of fresh squeezed orange juice. Carrying the platters in one arm and the pitcher in the other, I walked back out into the dining room and placed them neatly on the table.

Dudley quickly loaded his plate with half of the food, looking up only when my uncle, Vernon Dursley joined them at the table.

"What're you lookin at?" Vernon sneered. I quickly looked down to hide the annoyance in my eyes. He turned his attention to Petunia."We need to get going! We have alot of things to get done. You're comming, too." He said to me.

"B-but I d-don't want h-her t-to come!" Dudley whined, screwing up his face to make it look like he was crying.

"Oh, Duddy!" Petunia rushed to his side. "Vernon?"

"She has to." Vernon growled. "If there was any way around it, she wouldn't be comming. But I'm not leaving that girl alone in our house."

Dudley started wailing.

"Oh!"Petunia sighed. Then a light bulb flicked on above her head. "We'll buy you a present if you calm down."

Those seemed to be the magic words because, as soon as they left her mouth, Dudley stopped crying.

"Okay." He agreed and returned to eating.

Once everyone had eaten their fill and me my toast, we all filed into the car. 'I wonder where we're going?'
