The first two months of training were a slow tiring task. Naruto -who demanded to be called 'sensei'- ran the five ragged with chakra manipulation lessons, which consisted of chakra control exercises and other, odd, tricks. And strengthening lessons, both to increase their chakra pool and to make them more physically able. This involved mainly running up and down trees and across all water until they couldn't move any more. The first tree walking lesson was definitely an amusing sight for any spectator

FLASHBACK

Naruto stood in front of the five trainees in front of him. For the past two weeks he had had them running laps of the training grounds, doing push-ups and sit ups and had them work on their chakra control. Finally he was doing something different.

"Today we are learning to climb trees."

The five rookies stared in utter shock

"Climb trees? We do that as kids! How is that going to help us fight Titans! We have the 3DMGs to get up the trees! Why don't you teach us something useful!"

Mina had snapped, but Naruto took no notice. He still wore the black cloak, but had left the hood down. He walked to the tree and put one foot on it

"Ah. Let me reword that. What I mean is walking up trees."

He then began to walk up the tree.

"To do this, you focus chakra to the soles of your feet. Too much and you'll be blown off, too little and you'll fall down."

He threw a kunai at each of the rookie's feet.

"Use these to mark your progress. You may want a running start."

The five could only stare in shock. They were slowly getting used to the expression.

END FLASHBACK

the group managed to get to the top of the tree by the end of the week, but not one of them had had it easy. All were bruised everywhere. even Mina, who had made it up the tree first time, was made to continue until she passed out. By the end of the first month, the five were able to walk on water as well. The next four months were based on some simple ninjutsu, chakra affinities, and using the 3DMGs, while still continuing to train their bodies.

FLASHBACK

"today, we're going to find out your chakra affinities. These will show what element is easiest for you to wield. Now. There should be some chakra paper left... Somewhere..."

The man searched in his cloak for a moment before pulling out six crumpled pieces of paper. Carefully he straightened them out.

"Right. This is chakra paper, my last lot. I'm going to give you one each, and what you do is hold a sheet in between your index and middle finger, and channel chakra through it. Here."

He handed out one piece of paper to each rookie and then held up the last sheet. A moment later it shredded itself into thousands of tiny pieces.

"This shows that I have a very strong wind affinity. A fire affinity will burn the paper, water will wet it, Earth crumble it and lightning crumple it. Now you try."

Annie was the first to act and the paper split down the middle, Mikasa was next, the paper going soggy. Mina soon followed, the paper turning to ash. Armin and sasha acted at the same time. Armin's paper crumbling and Sasha's crumpling. The man let out a loud cheer.

"Woo! Brilliant! All five! This couldn't be better. Right. For the next two months you will be practicing your affinities. I have taught you some basic jutsu together, but now I will take you off individually and teach each of you separately."

Naruto put his hands together in a cross pattern and four copies of him puffed into existence.

"Welcome to the next level of hell. I hope you enjoy."

There's the end of the chapter. bit small, but ill make up for it next chapter.
