Yay!! I'm back (but my other story isn't done). I had this idea, and had to post it. It's a one-shot and in Annabeth's p.o.v. Enjoy!

I sigh happily. My neck is resting gently on his shoulder and his arm is wrapped around me lightly. Our toes kissed the surface of the lake as we watched the sunset.

"Annabeth?" He suddenly asks, breaking the romantic silence. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah, what Percy?"

He sighed, like it was hard for him to say. "Do you know the reason I asked you here today?"

"To be with me...right?"

He fidgeted. "Mostly, but for something else too."

My head raised so I could look at him. "What?"

"What would you do if I died?"

I'm so taken back, I can't respond, only gasp. "Why do you ask that?"

"Just tell me, what would you do?"

"I would...I would cry and say 'Why Sea-weed Brain? Why??'"

His green eyes lit up for a moment, then dulled again. "No, I'm serious."

"I guess I would...I would miss with everything I had. And I would do everything I could to get you back. And before you died I would do this."

I lean in to kiss him. Our lips met a moment before he breaks off and turns his head.

"What is it?" I ask.

He doesn't answer right away. I see his shoulders shake and I think he's crying. "Would you really do that for me?" he whispers.

"Well duh! You're my best friend and I don't think I'd be alive without you."

I slide over to him but he pushes away.

"Annabeth be prepared."

I'm shocked, and his words scare me. "What do you mean Percy?"

"The gods are mad at me right now. I've had so many dreams. Some of them are plotting to end my life, I just know it."

Tears immediately start streaming down my cheeks. "What about your dad? And Aphrodite and Artemis and Apollo...They all want you alive, right?"

He smiles at me. "Names are powerful thing Annabeth. Don't tell me you forgot." His smile fades and his look into the distance. "The other gods are plotting behind their backs. They're so close, I can almost feel the life being drained out of me..."

Tears blur my vision. "Don't say that Percy Jackson! You didn't defeat...Grandpa K just to die at an Olympian hand!!"

His face looks paler and his eye color is dim. "The gods are mad at me...for making them vow... I don't want this to happen but I think it will..." his voice sounds scratchy, like he's at death's door.

"Percy," I bury my face in his chest and hug him. "Percy please hold on. We're right by the water, you can heal yourself..."

He coughs. "No, this is a godly sickness. I don't think I'll die right now...tell Chiron though. He may try unsuccessfully to heal me..."

The tears flow faster. "Percy...no."

My head rests on his chest and I can barely hear his heartbeat. It's so dim...so dim...
