I Know What I Am
Sometimes I stare at you while you are sleeping
I listen to your breathing

Chapter 2: Stay Close, Don't Go
BPOV
It had taken at least four hours to find the tiny little house where my sisters lived. It was smack, bang in the middle of a strange deserted forest. My ass hurt like hell but I could see the outline of the house through the trees.
It was quite a Gothic house, a bit like my sisters. They were growing black and red roses in little flowerbeds. Before I even got close to the door it swung open and two inhumanly beautiful, familiar, faces came out to greet me.
"Bella, oh my gosh, it's been way too long." Esmerelda squealed as she helped me dismount my horse. I left it to roam, I usually did. (A.N: Okay I know this probably can't happen but it's a story people)
"I've missed you doll." Alexis smiled as she gave me a squeeze. Esmerelda reminded me of a hyperactive puppy, the way she bounded into the house and began to show me around. Alexis rolled her eyes.
Alexis was the epitome of perfection, she had long, wavy red hair and when I say long, I mean long, it almost came down to the bottom of her back. She had the most shocking grey eyes, they were almost silver and very high cheekbones, her lips were fabulous. Everything was fabulous. She was more beautiful than a vampire.
Esmerelda was just as gorgeous, with her blue-black hair that curled perfectly around her round face. Her brown eyes, that looked identical to mine, sparkled, Esmerelda looked like a more beautiful, older version of me with a few changes here and there. The other thing that made them stand out was their multiple piercings and tattoos.
They were both my big sisters, Renee was never our mother, Charlie thought he loved her but he actually loved our mother, Vani, he had to love her. Charlie was my mothers singer.
My mother was a siren, she was more beautiful than a vampire and she could entrance any man with her voice, just like Esmerelda and Alexis. Things never worked out between my mother and Charlie when he found out about my mothers 'gift', he left her to bring us up by herself. The only reason I moved back with him was the fact that I was only seventeen and not legal to live alone when my mother died. Esmerelda and Alexis were nineteen so it was fine for them.
"Bella... Bella... Hello anybody there." Alexis giggled as she waved her hand in front of my face.
"Oh sorry, I spaced out for a moment there." I laughed.
"Now then, we know why you're here but please spill!" Esmerelda instructed. I took a deep breath, time for the shock.
"I've found my singer." I mumbled.
"Oh that's great Bella!" Alexis screamed enthusiastically. Not for long.
"He's a vampire." I rushed, time for the drama.
"What? A Vampire?" They both shouted.
"I know, this is really bad." I sighed.
"Bad! This is worse than that, vampires can never know about us, they can't know that the legends are true. Aro will have us wiped out Bella, we're the last of out kind!" Esmerelda exclaimed. I nodded weakly.
"Ez calm down, it's not Bella's fault, you know that. We need to be here for Bella, she's going to start changing soon and we need to know everything." Alexis reasoned with her twin before turning back to me.
"So... Who is he? How have you been feeling? What does he know?" Her questions were hitting me like a ton of bricks, they took a lot of emotional searching and that's not something I wanted right now.
"His name is Edward, I love him too much to describe and he somehow loves me, he knows nothing and ever since prom I realised that this love was something more, something stronger, it was a bind, an emotional bind. The same bind that Charlie and Vani had, I knew then that I was in way over my head, he was a vampire but a different kind, one that doesn't drink human blood. Ever since I realised the bind I've been feeling strange. The feelings indescribable, like I need to be somewhere to relax. I keep having dreams that I'm plunging into water. This scares me so much. I just called and left, Edward will be devastated." I confessed.
Esmerelda came over and put her arm around me.
"Well bambino I believe that this Edward is definitely Il tuo cantante." Giacobbe, Esmerelda's Italian husband, smiled.
"Il tuo what?" I laughed.
"It means your singer in Italian." He told me. Giacobbe was very tall with russet coloured skin and long black hair that he swept into a ponytail, he was human of course.
"So if I were talking about him he'd be Il mio cantante?" I guessed.
"Si Isabella, you're picking this up faster than Esmerelda." He chuckled. He always calls us by our full name, it's strange but I like him.
"Okay Bells, you're going to become one of us and I predict that it will either happen tonight or sometime during the next few days, basically you're going to sleepwalk into our lake outside and drown, I know it sounds bad but when you wake up in the morning you'll be just like us." Alexis grinned. I was starting to get butterflies.
"What's this? Bella a siren? Well slap my face and call me Billy." Alexis's husband, Seth, randomly appeared from nowhere. There wasn't much to say about Seth other than he was extremely funny and kind.
"I know who'd have thought, our baby Bell growing up." Esmerelda sniffed and wiped away a non-existent tear from the corner of her eye. I laughed sarcastically.
***
As expected, Alexis and Esmerelda had me tell them everything about the Cullens and my encounter with James. They were completely amazed at the amount of self-control Edward had.
It was getting near to midnight when they finally finished their questions and let me relax in my own room.
It was fantastic to be back in my own bed for once, no blue walls or yellow curtains just simple browns and creams.
I closed my eyes and waited for sleep to take over. I tossed and turned but for some reason I couldn't find sleep as easily as usual. Something was missing, someone was missing.
Edward.
It was strange how accustomed I had become to his marble chest and icy arms, I remembered when he first started sleeping on the bed, I found it hard to be comfortable when he was so cold but now that's what I miss. It's too warm now.
Eventually I managed to doze off...
I was in my room, through the window you could just see the breaking dawn (Hehehe :P). I threw off my covers and walked slowly down the stairs, as I opened the door the cold wind caressed my face, the sound of the water lapping against the grass was enticing and who was I to resist that call?
My bare feet met the fluffy grass and I padded over to the large lake, I waded in until the cold water came to my knees. I looked around there was nothing and nobody in sight, I took a deep breath and submerged myself within the lake.
I swam out into the middle of the lake where the floor was no longer reachable. I was running out of oxygen but when I tried to get to the surface it felt like there were two weights dragging me just out of reach of that precious air.
I couldn't take it any longer, I breathed in frantically and water flowed into my mouth, up my nose and into my lungs. I thrashed around trying, unsuccessfully, to taste that sweet sweet air, have that beautiful oxygen fill my lungs not this awful crap.
I carried on fighting against the water but it was no use. I was sinking, going deeper and deeper every time I kicked. The world around me was blacking out and I was powerless to do anything...
***
I opened my eyes slowly, squinting through the light as I remembered the events of yesterday and that awful dream.
Something was tickling my feet. I frowned and looked down at the water. Wait, WATER!
I stood up quickly, too quickly. Last night, the water, the drowning, suddenly something Alexis said floated into my brain...
"basically you're going to sleepwalk into our lake outside and drown, I know it sounds bad but when you wake up in the morning you'll be just like us!"
My eyes widened and I looked down at my body, I had curves in places I didn't think were possible, my skin was a very pale white. I bent down and checked my reflection in the water, the woman that stared back at me was not Isabella Swan, she couldn't be and yet when I moved she moved. It was me.
The girl had gorgeous shiny hair that curled perfectly, she had fantastic features and beautiful, full lips. Apart from the big brown eyes nobody would guess that it was me. I turned gracefully, admiring my curves and I came face to face with my sisters.
"W-O-W!" Alexis breathed. I blushed nervously.
"You look incredible sweetie, so beautiful." Esmerelda gushed, she suddenly got an evil glint in her eye as she looked at Alexis who's expression was much the same.
"Finally, it's time to introduce you to a little tradition in this family..." Alexis winked and stuck her tongue out to reveal her tongue piercing. Esmerelda pulled back her sleeve to reveal a small music note with a blue rose wrapped around, it was a very pretty tattoo. My eyes widened as I realised what they were talking about.
A few hours and a hell of a lot of pain later I was finally no longer Isabella Swan, I was Isabella Acquarone.
EPOV
"Come on Edward, lets just go." Jasper said gently.
"NO!" Alice shrieked. "What about Charlie? She must've mentioned something to him."
'Bella wouldn't just leave her Dad, she's not like that.' Alice was going frantic in her mind, trying to find Bella's future but to no avail.
"Charlie won't be home for hours and even then he's going to want to know why we are in his home without Bella here." I spoke for the first time since reading Bella's letter.
"Oh yeah." Emmett said stupidly.
"Emmett, stop being so idiotic." I snapped but instantly regretted it when I saw the look on his face.
'Dude there was no need to be like that with him, that's just Emmett' Jasper thought.
"Edward! I know you're upset, we all are but that doesn't give you the right to go around taking it out on us!" Alice scolded. I ducked my head, knowing that she was right and mumbled an apology.
"Hey, no worries, I would be the same if Rosie..." Emmett trailed off." Well, I'd be the same."
I sighed and stood quickly, Jasper gave me a sympathetic smile but I didn't bother to return it.
As I locked the door to Bella's house behind me, I couldn't help but wonder if Bella had other reasons to leave. I shook it off as we headed back to the house.
Esme and Rosalie came out to meet us happily but as soon as they saw our faces their smiles dissipated.
'What's going on' Rosalie worried.
"What's the matter? What's happened?" Esme asked quickly. Carlisle heard us and came out too.
"It's Bella..." Alice began.
"What about her." Carlisle said a little too loudly.
'I hope nothings wrong.' Esme thought.
"She left." Alice finished sadly, shooting me glances.
I seemed to be incapable of speech. It was strange, like I wasn't me, I had left my body. While the world around me continued I ceased to be. I couldn't even hear my families thought's any more. I think it was finally sinking in that Bella had gone.
I pushed past everyone and made my way to my usual place of solace. My piano. As my fingers ghosted along the keys I sat down and thought about Bella's actions these past few months.
A sad tune began to fill the air around me, drowning me in it's sorrow.
I don't know how long I played for but I could tell that a good few hours had past, it was now dark outside. Loud shouts began to overpower the musical shield that I had built for myself.
"This is all her fault, what did I tell you? I knew this would end badly, Look at the state of him and it's only been a few hours!" Rosalie shouted.
"How dare you" Bella is the best thing to ever have happened to this family, to Edward, how dare you!" Alice retorted.
"Yeah come on babe, Alice is right, Edward just needs time, us arguing isn't going to help him right now." Emmett tried to reason with his wife.
"NO! She's pulled this family apart too many times, if you ask me we're better off without her." Rosalie growled. I snapped, Rosalie had no right to say that.
"Nobody asked your opinion Rosalie. Don't you ever even think about saying those things." I spat. She flinched.
I shook my head, picked up the keys to my Volvo and left the house, slamming the door behind me.
No doubt the war would still be raging when I got back but for now I needed time to think, to relax.
I needed our meadow.
(A.N.): Well, there's chapter 2. Okay I know that there are still a lot of things left unsaid but I promise that all your questions will be answered in later chapters.
As some may have guessed from the way it sounds, Giacobbe, is in fact an Italian version of Jacob. Italy will play quite a part in this story, for a start it's where Bella's mother, Vani, comes from.
As for Bella's last name... That is also Italian an it means 'dweller by a large expanse of water' just like a siren :P (I've been researching)!
Oh and before I get lots of people telling me it's La Tua Cantante, that's because it's the feminine, the masculine is Il Mio Cantante so because Bella is talking about Edward it is the masculine version.
Review and tell me what you thought :D.
Love you all forever xD...
