Chapter 4: Vanilla Twilight
BPOV
As soon as I stepped out of the car I saw them, the Cullens were staring right at me with eyes as wide as saucers.
"Come on hun, we've got to get signed in." Alexis whispered. I nodded and followed my sisters into the building. I could still feel all the eyes of the Cullens on my back as I walked.
Once we were out of earshot Esmerelda and Alexis pulled me into a deserted corridor.
"Bella, the Cullens are really suspicious, more so than we initially thought. You need to throw them off the scent, you need to act differently from how the old you would have acted." Esmerelda exclaimed.
"In other words you're going to have to be a bad girl." Alexis smirked and winked at me.
"I don't know." I said, biting my lip. I'd changed in many ways but I don't know if I could pull off the sexy, naughty girl image.
"You have to Bella, if you don't then Edward will recognise you in an instant and then we're going to have to answer all those questions that you know they're going to ask. It's not safe for us Bella, you agreed that you would do whatever it takes to make sure that they didn't recognize you." Esmerelda pleaded.
"Bella remember, if any vampire gets wind of what we are then we could end up with the Volturi on our backs." She continued.
"Okay, I'll do it." I sighed. "But I wont be good at it."
"Thank you Bella, I know this must be hard but you know, being wicked will be easier than you think." Alexis smiled.
"How so?" I frowned.
"Well you know Sirens have a mischievous streak to them, just bring it out. You'd be surprised at how easily it comes out, it's those little angels and devils that sit on our shoulders." Esmerelda giggled as she pulled us both over to the receptionist's desk.
"Hello dears my name is Mrs. Cope how can I help you?" She asked after she'd gotten over the initial shock of our beauty, the Cullens thought that they got stared at for their astounding looks, they had it easy.
"Hi, my name is Esmerelda Aquarone, this is my twin Alexis and our younger sister Isabella." Esmerelda answered smiling slightly at Mrs. Cope's awed expression.
"Ah yes, now then Alexis, Esmerelda, you two are obviously seniors so there are your timetables, class doesn't start for another fifteen minutes though so you can do as you wish until the bell goes and as for you Isabella, I'm afraid you'll be taking the timetable from another student who has recently left, you see there was no warning for her departure and no warning of your arrival so we haven't been able to fill in Miss. Swan's timetable until you arrived. I hope you don't mind." She explained.
"That's fine." I grinned, silently thanking the God's that I wouldn't have to change lessons, I liked my old timetable.
After Mrs. Cope had explained a few more things we left the office and went back to wait in the car.
The parking-lot had gotten considerably busier in this time, I felt a little awkward with all these people staring at me. Alexis and Esmerelda looked as though they didn't like the attention but they put up with it anyway.
"Oh my gosh they're stunning." A young boy whispered to his friends.
"No way dude look, those babes are hotter than the Cullen chicks." Another guy said. I heard Jasper and Emmett's growls form across the lot.
"That one with the brown hair, she reminds me of someone but I can't place my mind on who." Angela muttered to Jessica whilst Mike, Eric and Tyler just ogled at us.
"Jerks." Alexis mumbled. I missed Angela, she was a very genuine person and also incredibly pretty.
I realised that if I was going to try and convince the Cullens that I wasn't me then I'd better get to it. I knew that they were looking at me so I did something that made me sick to even think about, I winked at Tyler and Mike. They both looked as though all their Christmases had come at once. I turned back to my sisters and shuddered.
They giggled and went back to checking out their timetables. I started thinking about mine and that's when I realised, I had all my lessons with either Alice or Edward, just before prom he'd switched his and Alice's timetables to match mine, he switched what he could and for what he couldn't change he put Alice there instead. Of course they wont know it's me but still, this is going to be a hell of a lot harder than I thought.
The bell rang and, as soon as I promised to meet Alex and Ez in the cafeteria for break, I set off for my first lesson of the day, Spanish. (A.N: Yes, I know that this isn't Bella's original timetable from the book but work with me here :P)
Alice was in this lesson with me, I took several deep breaths and walked into the familiar classroom. It smelled of dust and coffee.
"Hello and who do we have here? Why don't you introduce yourself dear." Ms. Blake greeted warmly.
"Hi, my name is Isabella Aquarone, I've just moved here from Illinois with my two older sisters." I tried to make it sound as confident as I could make it, I think it sounded quite good but there was an edge to my voice and I was praying that Alice didn't pick up on it.
I was also quite grateful that Jasper wasn't in the room. Ms. Blake gestured to the empty seat next to Alice and I made my way over reluctantly.
About five minute into the lesson Alice turned to me and started her incessant talking.
"Hello Bella, my name is Alice Cullen." She smiled but there was something missing from the smile that I knew so well.
"Hey Alice and please it's Isabella, I prefer that." I grinned.
"Oh, sorry Isabella, it's just, I had a best friend called Isabella but she preferred Bella so I made the assumption..." I cut her off.
"It's okay, you don't need to explain, what was this Bella like then? She sounds important." I decided to be nosey.
"Oh she was." Alice's eyes were staring off as if she was remembering something, it wasn't a vision.
"Bella Swan her name was, she was new too and she started going out with my brother Edward, he really loved her, we all did, she was the best thing that could ever happen to my family..."
"What happened?" I croaked, I knew that I would hurt them when I left but I didn't realise just how much.
"She left." Alice stared blankly at nothing in-particular, her eyes were glassy and I knew that if she could she would have tears falling down her flawless cheeks. I only then realised that I too was crying, except my tears were free to fall.
"That's horrible." I sniffed. She gave me a wistful smile.
"Don't feel sorry for us Isabella. We're coping, it's worse for Edward but he's coping too."
"Miss Cullen, Miss Aquarone, something you'd like to share with us?" Ms. Blake asked impatiently.
"No miss." We both mumbled.
"Not another peep from either of you." She grumbled before turning back to the board.
Alice didn't speak to me then until I noticed a piece of paper being pushed onto my notebook.
Would you like to sit with us today? We would like to ask you a few things xx -A.
Umm... Sure, I'll speak to my sisters first though and what kind of things? x -I.
That's fine, I can't say on this paper, it's not private enough xx -A.
Okay then, can I ask you a question first though? x -I.
Ask away Isabella, you just did xx -A.
Why were you and your family staring at us before school? x -I.
Oh, that's part of what I can't say now and because you look so much like Bella xx -A.
We stopped passing notes then. This definitely was harder than we expected.
As soon as the bell rang I jumped up and ran off to my next lesson. History with Edward. This should be eventful.
I walked up to the front and handed my slip into the teacher Mr. Else, thankfully he didn't want me to introduce myself to everyone. I, once again, took a seat at the back of the class. Nobody was sat next to me but the classroom wasn't even half full yet so there was still time.
Edward and Mike both entered at the same time, Tyler and Eric following soon after. They all looked at the empty seat beside me and then looked at each other, narrowing their eyes at one another. Just then Angela pushed past them and walked over to her seat.
"Angela!" I called. She turned at looked at me, stunned that I knew her name.
"Do you want to sit with me?" I asked. She looked shocked but came and sat in the vacant seat anyway.
"Thanks." I whispered.
"No problem, I wish I was in such demand, especially from Edward Cullen." She joked. Edward could hear and I'm sure that he was listening but he was being tactful enough to pretend that he wasn't.
"Oh so that's him. I just sat next to his sister in Spanish, nice girl." I lied, this was getting easier every time I did it, Alexis was right about our mischievous side.
"Oh yeah that's Edward, all the girls want him but he's only ever shown interest in one girl." She continued to whisper.
"Yeah, Alice told me about her, Bella Swan, I think. Did you know her?"
"Yes, she was one of my best friends and I would like to think that I was one of hers too then one day, about three months ago she left to go and live with her mother." She gave a sad smile. I felt horrible again, not only had I hurt my vampire friends but I'd hurt my human friends too.
"Oh I'm sure you were, it's hard to imagine anybody not liking you." I said softly.
"Thank you Isabella, you do like being called that don't you?" She grinned.
"Well you can call me Iz or Izzy if you'd like, that's what my sisters call me." I chuckled.
"Okay then Izzy." She giggled.
We continued to chat about random things until the bell sounded for the third time today. I hurriedly said goodbye to Angela and made my way to the cafeteria to meet my sisters.
When I got there they both gave me confused looks because I was looking frantic.
"The Cullens want to speak to us." I breathed.
"Why? What happened?" Esmerelda questioned.
"Alice was speaking to me in Spanish and, before you say anything, it was inevitable. She asked us to sit with them, answer some of their questions, they're definitely suspicious but not about me just about us." I exclaimed. Alexis bit her lip.
"Okay then just act casual, we're human if they try to say otherwise we call them crazy." She instructed. I looked at Esmerelda and we both nodded. Then an idea hit me like a ton of bricks.
"The Cullens aren't stupid, that wont work. We can say that we're those vampire hybrids, you know half human, half vampire. That way we have an excuse for our beauty and the fact that our hearts beat faster than a human." I explained.
"That also explains why we have heartbeats in the first place." Esmerelda added.
"Fantastic idea Izzy, you're a genius!" Alexis shouted, causing a few heads to turn our way. I fought back a blush.
"Here they are remember, don't reveal anything other than what we've said." Esmerelda whispered before walking over to the Cullen table. Alexis nudged me and I followed her to where Esmerelda was, taking a seat between them.
"Hi Alice, these are my two older twin sisters, Alexis and Esmerelda. Esmerelda, Alexis these are the Cullens." I introduced my family to the Cullens.
"Hello again Isabella. It's nice to meet you Alexis and you too Esmerelda, this is my family; my brother Edward, my older brother Emmett, his girlfriend Rosalie and Rosalie's twin, also my fiancé, Jasper. Everyone these are the Aquarones." Alice chirped.
"Now then, you wanted to ask some questions?" I looked at Alice. Her eyes darted over the rest of her family and they all quickly jerked their heads. So quickly that, had I still been human, I wouldn't have caught it.
"Yes, Bel... I mean Isabella..." Her eyes snapped to Edward who had visibly stiffened in his chair. I felt myself breaking a little more. It hurt him just to hear my name and that was all my fault. Alexis must've sensed this because she squeezed my hand under the table and gave me a reassuring smile.
Jasper's eyes flickered to mine for a moment but then they were focused back on Alice, waiting for her to speak again.
"Sorry about that. Umm.. well my family and myself have noticed something different about you girls. We'd like to know what you are. You must obviously know that we too aren't your typical teenage school children." She looked at all of us expectantly, waiting for one of us to speak first.
"Yes, we did guess that you aren't human. Vampires actually, am I right?" She paused for a moment. Whilst Jasper nodded to confirm this. "Thought so, we are part vampire actually that's why we look like we do and why our senses are so fantastic, just like our speed."
"You say part vampire, you'll have to explain this. I can't read any of your minds..." Edward sounded frustrated.
"Yes, we're also part human." Alexis finished.
"How is that possible?" Rosalie barked.
"Well, you see our father was a vampire, vegetarian like you, and our mother was human. They got married and had children, unfortunately our mother died whilst giving birth to me. Our dad couldn't save her in time. He tried to take care of us but as you know too well, vampires mate for life and dad couldn't live without mom so he went to the Volturi and they took his life for him. We raised ourselves." I said sharply. Wow, this lying on the spot thing was getting easier every time I did it.
"Bella was human." Emmett opened his moth for the first time which was very unlike him.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled, although my apology had a different meaning to what they thought.
Suddenly the bell rang loudly, making us all jump. Alexis and Esmerelda stood swiftly and glided out of the room.
"Isabella what lessons have you got next?" Edward asked me, this took me by surprise.
"Oh, I have English then Biology and then Gym. I have Bella's old timetable." I told him. Hurt flashed through his golden eyes and then they became void of any emotion. I mumbled an apology again but he shrugged it off and led the way to English.
I sat as far from Edward as possible in English but I couldn't avoid him in Biology. I had to take 'Bella's' old seat next to him. I didn't speak to him though, I just doodled in my notebook.
The rest of the day passed like this, I became too wrapped up in my own thoughts to notice anything. I was like a robot. As soon as I got home I took off to my room and flopped gracefully onto the bed.
Today was exhausting. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.
EPOV
As soon as the bell rang I told my family to speak to those girls if they were in any of their lessons today, that one with the brown hair smelled exactly like Bella, I missed that smell. I was sat in Trig when Alice's thought's shouted for me.
'Edward. I'm in Spanish with the girl who looks and smells like Bella. Her name is Isabella Aquarone. I'm sorry, there's something else about these girls though. They smell human but they look like us, hell they look even better than us.'
I sighed. Bella, she was everywhere I turned, no matter how hard I tried to stop it. I built up the wall but every time someone mentioned her those defences came crumbling down around me. This was killing me.
'Edward please. I know this is hard but I'm in History and it's the civil war, you know how much I love correcting the teacher.'
I smiled at that.
'That's better'
This Isabella girl was in my History. I immediately felt drawn to her but I suppose that Mike, Tyler and Eric were as well.
'Mmm, nice piece of ass, nicer than Bella Swan'
I growled and I'm pretty sure that Tyler heard it.
'I can't let Tyler get that chair. She is mine. Look at that body, God what I'd do to have a woman like that.'
'No, Mike and Tyler always get the girls. I'm the one with the most experience, those two are still virgins!'
I had to laugh, but then I saw the girl in his mind. I shuddered. What teenage boys do just to get laid is beyond me.
"Angela!" Isabella called to one of my Bella's friends.
As I took a seat near to the girls I frowned. This new girl had never met Angela before. How could she know her name?
I listened in on all of the conversation, I knew that it was not very polite of me to eavesdrop but there was something about this new girl, I couldn't quite place my finger on it.
I met my family in the Cafeteria at break, Alice quickly briefed us on the new girls and told us that they were coming to sit with us.
I looked over at the girls again. Studying their behaviour. They were indescribably beautiful and graceful like us vampires, yet their hearts beat in their chest, pumping blood around their bodies, vampires hearts were cold and dead. That heartbeat was abnormally fast for a human though. I tried to get into their minds but just like with Bella, I couldn't.
As the girls told their story, I got the feeling that what they were saying somehow wasn't true. I had never heard of other vegetarian vampires besides the Denalis. My thoughts stopped abruptly when Bella was mentioned. I could see all the eyes dart to me.
'Sorry!' Alice apologised.
'Guilt?'
I looked to Jasper but his gaze was set upon Isabella or Izzy. She sure looked guilty too, but what for? I felt a strange urge to comfort her. I didn't think it had anything to do with Jasper though.

For the rest of the day Isabella ignored me. I found that more frustrating than I should. As soon as I got home I ran straight to my room and put on my Debussy C.D. Claire De Lune floated from the speakers and dragged me into the depths of the music.
I vaguely heard the door closing and Carlisle telling me that everyone was off hunting. I wasn't really paying attention. When Alice flew into my room I was completely taken off guard.
"Edward you have to see this!" She yelled.
Vision...
"You have to drink from me. Please! I can't help you get out of here if you don't. Edward you're going to murder thousands of innocent people and you will regret this. You can't kill me, just drink my blood!" Isabella pleaded, ripping the strap of her dress to give me better access to her neck.
"No, I can't stop Bella. NO!" I roared.
"Edward. I love you, I can't lose you. It would kill me, I've told you about my mother. I don't want you to die here, I want to live with you forever and you've told me that you want the same. Edward, prove that to me, we can start our forever as soon as you like but we have to get out of Volterra first. Aro will have me killed and my sisters. I can get us out of here but you've got to drink from me. I will not let you loose on the poor people of Italy. It will end in disaster." She cried. Sobs shook her body.
"Bella, I can't lose you either. I love you too much but I don't want to hurt you." I whispered, stroking her hair.
"You can't hurt me, I'm not breakable any more just drink. Please!" She begged.
I sighed and sunk my teeth into her neck relishing in the sweet taste of the blood.
End Of Vision...
"Oh God..."

OME!!! I saw New Moon on Friday (and Saturday) and oh my all those shirtless men... Honestly though, it was fantastic. Ten times better that the first (although the first was still good).
Anybody else seen it? If so tell me... What was your favourite part? Mine was the last line in the film before the credits but I'll say no more for those of you who haven't seen it yet ;).
Anyway, the next chapter will be up very soon, I swear :D. Also I'm not changing the title, as much as I don't really like it, I wont change it now :P.
