(A.N.): NOTE** THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT CHAPTER!!! Merry Christmas :D!! I received a few death and torture threats (that's right I'm looking at you VampiresxTeamEdward-Eric) so I just had to put this chapter up.
Also a massive dedication to daybreak1, I'm glad that you like this so much :D!
Now then, these legends are absolutely and completely MADE UP please read the bottom author's note after the chapter!!!

Chapter 6: Fall For You
Previously...
"Well, first things first, I'm a siren."
Carlisle let out a gasp of shock, he had obviously heard of the legends...
BPOV
"I know Carlisle but please let me explain before you jump to a conclusion." I insisted. He nodded and I continued.
"I'm now going to tell you a legend of how we began. It's a long one so please don't interrupt." I waited for the Cullens to agree and then carried on.
"These legends are originally called 'The Legends Of Persephone' I'm sure you've all heard of how Hades captured her and made her his bride and of how Demeter was so upset that she created famine and hunger. Well, all of that is a lie...
Persephone was cast down by her father, Zeus, for letting Hades trick her into eating from the underworld. The rules were that she should now live for Hades in the underworld for the rest of eternity. Hades, however, took pity on Persephone and created her a large island to which she was confined.
Hades had fallen in love with her because of her absolute beauty. Persephone thought that Hades was being kind but, of course, that was not in his nature. She soon realised that being stuck on this island was worse than living in the underworld.
Hades asked Persephone to become his bride but when she refused he made sure that no other man could ever lay eyes on her, barriers were put around the island preventing any male over the age of 16 access to the land.
Meanwhile back in Olympus, Demeter was distraught about the fate of her daughter. She left the Gods and resided on Earth disguised as an old maid, she travelled to the castle and became the nurse maid to the King and Queens young son.
Demeter hoped that, by taking care of this child, she could replace the one that she lost. She soon realised, though, that this boy would eventually grow old and die. She couldn't risk losing another child so, every night she would put the little boy into the flames of a fire. He sparkled like a million diamonds, casting rainbows all across the room.
One day the Queen found Demeter hovering over her baby in the flames. The queen became hysterical, screaming for the poor child. The queen ran to find guards that could seize Demeter and punish her for murdering the young Prince.
Demeter knew that by now, the Gods would know all about this and would want her killed for disturbing the mortal peace on Earth so she summoned the only person that she trusted, Aphrodite.
Demeter handed Aphrodite the child and told her to take him to a place where no harm could ever come to him. She explained that her now immortal child could only be killed by the flames that created him, she also said of how the boy was protected by immense strength, speed and senses but his best defence weapon was the venom in his bite.
Just as Aphrodite disappeared into the night, Zeus seized Demeter from Earth and took her back to Olympus.
Demeter was put on a trial where all the Gods and Goddesses gathered to question her. Demeter was sentenced to death for her actions and Zeus ordered for people to track down the child and kill him too.
Aphrodite took the boy overseas and eventually came to land on an island, Persephone's island.
Persephone was thrilled that she finally had company and was enthralled by the child that her mother had created. Aphrodite knew that the Gods would become suspicious if she didn't get back soon and so, leaving the baby boy in the arms of Persephone, she returned to Olympus.
When Hades visited Persephone he noticed this child but once seeing the joy that it brought his love, he agreed to let her raise him. Hades thought that this would make Persephone love him more.
Persephone named the child Adonis and he grew to become the most handsome man to ever have walked the Earth. By now Adonis was 17, the same age as Persephone. She had fallen in love with Adonis and he had fallen in love with Persephone.
On seeing that his plan had backfired, Hades went to the island and, in his rage, burned Adonis on the spot. Hades then returned to the underworld and left Persephone to starve on the island alone.
Nobody knew, though, that Persephone had become impregnated with Adonis's children but with the despair of having to live without her mate, Persephone's health deteriorated. She eventually gave birth to quadruplets. Two girls, sirens like herself, and two boys who were of course the very first vampires besides Adonis.
Because the children had no mother to teach them right from wrong, they escaped and returned to their father's home land, wreaking havoc and murdering innocent mortals in their wake.
Of course though some of these mortals were only bitten and they became immortal. One of these immortals fell in love with Persephone's daughters and they continued to breed. Leading on the legacy of vampires and sirens. They were an unstoppable force, not even the God's could do anything.
Hades was so enraged by all of this. He blasted to Earth on his golden chariot that was pulled by jet black horses and turned all the vampires against the sirens. The vampires attacked and killed their mates, sisters and mothers. Eventually, most sirens were wiped out and the ones that did remain were in hiding.
As the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus died out. Vampires realised that they needed to, in some way, be able to reproduce again and so the first female vampire was created. Unfortunately, as we know, female vampires cannot have children.
Some vampires started searching for the sirens again but, after all that Hades had told them, the rulers of the vampire world forbade this, stating that any vampire caught with a siren would be slaughtered along with it.
And so, this is how today nobody has ever really heard of sirens and the things you do hear are all untrue.
We sirens began breeding with human males instead and continued on to have happy lives, living away from vampires of any kind." I looked around as I finished the legend and saw that each one of the Cullens had looks of pure astonishment on their faces, even Rosalie!
"There is, however, an old prophecy about sirens and vampires. Our mother used to tell it to us when we would ask her to tell us stories. It goes:
'A child shall be born to break the hate,
A woman so beautiful she could rival Persephone herself,
Our shattered existence she will rebuild,
Uniting Sirens and Vampires once again.'
Now I'm no expert on deciphering prophesies but I think that the prophecy was about Bella." Esmerelda explained.
It was my turn to look shocked now.
"What?"
"If you think about it Bella, Ez is right. There are only fourteen others of our kind on Earth, if any of them had chosen a vampire then we would know about it by now but nobody else has. It's you Bella, your the one who is going to unite us with the vampires again!" Alexis shouted happily.
I still couldn't believe it, me. Me!
"Wait what do you mean by chosen? You said 'if any of them had chosen' what did you mean by that?" Jasper asked.
"Choosing. It's what we call finding our mate. You see, when we find the one who we can't live without it triggers the reaction for us to become sirens, that's why Bella had to leave. She 'chose' Edward and so that meant that she must change." Alexis told the Cullens.
"I'm truly sorry about leaving, I didn't want to but it was the safest thing for you. If you're caught with us then you'll be captured and killed without a second thought. I can't do that to you." I whispered.
"That still is no excuse! You hurt Edward and you lied to him, to all of us!" Rosalie shouted angrily.
"You think it was easy for me? Sirens can't be away from their mate for too long or they will die. It happened to my mother!" I retorted, my voice breaking slightly at the end.
"Bella, what happened to your mother? I thought Renee was your mother. What about Charlie?" Esme asked seriously.
"My actual mother was called Vani Aquarone, she fell in love with Charlie and chose him as her mate. Humans, though, can change their minds on who they love so easily and Charlie fell in love with Renee. He left my mother only two years after my birth, my mother's health deteriorated just like Persephone's did and a few weeks later she died. None of us have ever forgiven Charlie for what he did." I sighed, a small tear escaping from the corner of my eye.
I could feel Jasper's calming waves rolling through the room, trying to ease the tension.
"Oh, that's horrible." Esme empathized
"It's okay, Renee left Charlie as soon as she found out that he had three children with another woman. Of course she never knew what we were though." Alexis explained.
"But then how did you end up with Renee in Phoenix ,Bella, and how come Edward never found out about all this through Charlie's mind?" Alice frowned.
"Renee saw me as her daughter, Alexis and Esmerelda were three years old and my Grandmother, Nerina, took them but Renee refused to let me go. Charlie thought that letting Renee keep me would make her love him but obviously that backfired. My Grandmother had no say in this because Charlie was my father, she wanted to take me but she couldn't.
The reason Edward never found out was because any person who knows about sirens has a, sort-of, guard around their minds to protect us from vampires with powers, vampires like Edward." I smiled at the end.
Edward moved to sit beside me and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his lap and kissing the top of my head. Rosalie sniffed at our little display of affection. Alice pulled a face at her.
"So Bella, what exactly is a siren?" Emmett grinned. "What can they do?"
"Well, we're just like you but sort of weaker versions. Like the females in most species. We are, however, more beautiful, I'm not quite sure why though." Esmerelda laughed. Rosalie scowled at her. I could see Jasper shifting her uncomfortable glances.
"We love the water. So much so that some of us actually choose to live in the water, that's where the legends of us luring innocent sailors from ships came from, we get confused with mermaids a lot though because of that." Alexis joked.
"Mermaids are real?" Jasper said disbelievingly.
"Oh yeah, they're like our close cousins." I replied.
"Now I've heard everything." Carlisle chuckled.
"But I can smell your blood." Jasper mumbled sheepishly, I could tell that he hated admitting that our blood still appealed to him after all these years of being 'vegetarian'.
"That's because we have to be able to conceive and obviously we can't do that without blood." Esmerelda answered.
Again Rosalie shot us dirty glances. Edward raised his eyebrows at her, daring her to say what she was actually thinking. I could tell, though, that he was unbelievably angry with her but for what reason I'm not sure.
"What else can you do?" Carlisle asked.
"We can lose as much blood as we want but it wont affect us at all." Emmett nodded his head as if to say 'impressive'. "We can morph into animals. I chose the canine group so my morphs are a wolf, a dog, a wild dog and a fox. Alex chose the bird group so she is a robin, an eagle, a toucan and a dove. Bella here, chose the feline family and she morphs into a cat, a cheetah, a tiger and a mountain lion." Esmerelda exclaimed.
"Yum." Edward laughed. I just shook my head at him.
"Now then young lady." Alice pointed at me with a scary look in her eye, a look that said 'you are in biiig trouble missy'. "Tattoos. Piercings. Care to explain."
"Umm... Well my family have this, sort of, tradition. Once we've become sirens then we have to get tattoos and piercings and all that jazz. It all started with my grandmother." I admitted.
"Cool. Punk granny." Emmett boomed. Esme sighed exasperatedly.
"What kind of stuff have you got." Jasper said, fighting to keep the smile of hi face at his wife's displeasure.
"I have a tattoo of a music note on my wrist, so do my sisters. I have a tattoo of a tiger here." I pulled my long-sleeved top down a little to reveal it. "Something personal on my foot and neck then some stars on my stomach." I smiled pointing to each tattoo in turn.
Esmerelda and Alexis showed theirs off too. I then proceeded to show off my piercings. The one in my tongue, the one on my belly button and the two in each ear. I was far less adventurous than my sisters (who had tattoos in unspeakable places).
"How did you get them if your skin is as strong as ours?" Alice chimed.
"Steel needle." Alexis replied nonchalantly. I yawned loudly.
"I think someone is a little tired." Seth chuckled.
"Just a bit." Alexis joked. I stuck my tongue out at them like the mature adult I am.
"Come on then, lets get home" Giacobbe smiled, standing up and leading us to the door.
Edward got up and followed us. I beamed at him, the thought of being able to sleep near him again was overwhelming.
We wished a goodnight to his family and then headed back to my house. As soon as we got home Edward had to practically carry me to bed. He placed me down gently and pulled off my shoes. I wasn't bothering with getting changed.
I felt Edward slide in next to me and wrap me up in his arms, it didn't take me long to fall into the best night's sleep that I'd had in a while.

About the legend. I hope you like it :S. I did make it up myself but I loosely based it off different legends that I've heard (I don't even know if some of them are even true :P).
Just in case you didn't know (please don't feel offended It's just that my friend couldn't pronounce it soo...) Persephone is pronounced 'Per-sef-oh-nee'
