(A.N.): The story will flow more easily now that the complicated parts are mostly over... the drama can roll through in waves then :D.
I now have a fantastic beta... 'Brookieo', she's going to be looking over my chapters, she will also be (hopefully) kicking my sorry butt into actually writing this story and finishing it... eventually, she hasn't beta'd this chapter but after this one she'll be checking them :). For now, though, here is chapter 11.

Chapter 11: Your Guardian Angel

"We want out." Demetri answered
"Out?"
"Of the Volturi..."
EPOV
The Volturi guard were trying their best to shut me out of their minds, they were extremely good at it. I suppose they have to be, only the best got to be the Volturi guard authority. I rolled my eyes impatiently.
"Care to enlighten me as to how I'm involved in your scheme. I don't see how my gift will help you." I sighed.
"It's not just you we need Edward, it's your whole family. We couldn't take all of you at once though so we figured that we'd take just one of you and the rest will soon follow." Felix grinned maliciously.
That strategy was spot on. My family would follow. That meant that Bella would come!
"NO!" I yelled.
"Hey keep it down genius, do you want to get your head ripped off?" Demetri warned.
"Are you going to help us?" Jane asked icily. I ignored her.
"Why do you want out of the Volturi?"
"We... well... umm..." Heidi was reluctant to say anything and none of them would let me into their minds I sighed again.
"Did nobody ever tell you that patience is a virtue Edward?" Alec growled.
"I believe I have heard that saying somewhere before child!" I spat back at him.
"This would be easier to show you than actually tell you about." Heidi whispered.
"No Heidi, we will not reveal anything until he agrees to help us." Jane barked, her soprano voice echoing throughout the walls of the dungeon.
"I'll ask only once more Edward, will you help us?"
I paused.
"Keep in mind that you know too much already so if you don't want to help then we shall be forced to kill you anyway and wouldn't that just devastate your siren, probably enough to kill her. I won't tell my master if you agree." Jane thought menacingly.
My head snapped up to meet Jane's sickly sweet, anything but innocent, smile. I jerked my head once to confirm that I would do my best to help.
"Fabulous! Now Felix, unchain our guest, we have plenty of work to do." She beamed, showing a little too much tooth.
Felix pulled out an ancient looking key from his robes and clicked the lock on my shackles. I rubbed my wrists reflexively; I wasn't used to being so restricted.
"Follow." Heidi commanded.
The way she admired her reflection in every window, mirror and suit of arms that she passed reminded me of Rosalie and her extreme vanity.
Heidi led us out of Volterra and took off running. The Volturi moved in perfect synchronization, never once breaking their avian-like 'V' formation.
After about ten minutes we came to a clearing with a small stream running through.
"Walk through here, it'll wash away our scents." Jane instructed, striding through the water and looking around her cautiously. Heidi and Alec followed whilst Felix and Demetri flanked both my sides, stopping me from making a run for it.
Heidi led us through a thick forest until stopping just before a little makeshift hut with tatty blankets for doors. I frowned in confusion.
She lifted one of the blankets and Felix poked me in the back as a sign that I should enter.
Once inside I was bewildered to see that it was actually a small cottage hidden beneath the disguise of a homeless persons shelter.
"H-Heidi." A timid male voice called from the lounge.
"I hope it's not that Jane girl, she terrifies me."
Human?
"We're here darling." She cooed.
Darling?
"It makes me sick! The only thing a human is good for is food." Demetri turned up his nose in disgust at Heidi's adoring eyes. I growled quietly beside him.
"Now, now boys." Jane mock-scolded under her breath, only loud enough for us to hear. Alec grinned.
"W-We?" The boy stuttered.
"Yes, I've found us the help we need Greg!" She beamed.
"Does he know why he's here?" Greg asked quietly.
"Not fully yet but he will be able to relate to your... situation, let's call it." Jane said dangerously, "We need you, Edward dear, to fight for love." She continued, saying the last word as though it were the most disgusting thing in the world.
Love, yes, that I could relate to...
BPOV
Three hours, twenty four minutes and forty two seconds.
That's how long my Grandmother and the Elders had been here. Three hours, twenty five minutes and fifteen seconds that could have been spent trying to get to Edward, time that has been wasted on sitting around and doing nothing!
"Bella, you have to understand exactly how dangerous this is for our kind." My Gran asked for the umpteenth time.
"Gran I know this and I've told you; I'm more than willing to risk everything for him but we're wasting time!" I sighed.
"I completely agree, it's fine to waste time when it's not your life that's in jeopardy." Rosalie snapped.
Tallulah looked at my pleading eyes with a torn expression.
"Evie, Rina, I think we should let Bella do this. You know what will happen to her if Edward doesn't come back and that will not help her cope in the near future." Tallulah said, looking at me with a twinkle in her eye and a slight smile playing at her lips.
"What do you... Oh." My Gran gave me a knowing smile.
I was completely confused now.
"Does this mean I can go." I asked, pushing everything they'd just said to the back of my mind for later contemplation.
"Yes you can but please, sweetheart, be careful." Evelyn sighed.
"Thank you." I smiled.
My Gran, Evelyn and Tallulah each hugged me in turn and said their goodbyes to the Cullens. Esmerelda got up to see our guests out of the door, she smiled at me on the way past but I ignored her, I was still angry at her. Alexis looked away too, I know it wasn't fair because everything worked out in the end but I wanted Esmerelda to feel just a little bit of the pain that I was feeling right now.
"Well then, now we've got the thumbs up from the forces that be, let's get this show on the road." Emmett stood and clapped his hands together. The sound created an almighty crack throughout the house.
Alice jumped up in one of her lithe, blindingly fast movements; she skipped to the door and bounded up the stairs. I could hear her rummaging around in my bedroom drawers until she found what she was looking for, then she flew back into the living room and sat cross-legged on the carpet.
The sound of the laptop starting up pulled me from morbid thoughts about different ways in which Edward might be suffering. I studied Alice's face as she searched through the different websites; trying to take my mind off everything. She sighed. That cannot be a good sign.
"There's nothing until next week."
"Next week is too late." I whined.
"I know Bells, we'll keep trying." Emmett smiled, putting his arm around my shoulder.
"Ah ha!" Alice grinned. "There is one flight that could take us, it leaves tomorrow for Italy and we can all get on it.
"Let's get packing." Alexis said, pulling me along as Alice booked our flights.
Volterra here we come...
(A.N.): Holy jama lama, I can't believe I've been so horrible to you, I haven't updated since the stone age xD. Things are really pressuring me though recently, I did have a few important exams and then I was enjoying the summer hols.
Next chapter Bella may finally get to see Edward again...
I know it was ages ago but since this is the first time I've been able to talk to you I'm going to ask now... Eclipse, I adored it, I went to see it at midnight and then I went home had six hours of sleep and then I went to see it again... I thought Jasper was amazing in this one (bigger part :L) and does anyone else agree that Xavier Samuel (Riley) was rather dishy ;)? What was your favourite part? Let me know. Mine was the scene where the Cullens and the wolves all come together to learn Jasper's newborn killing knowledge :P.
I'm also asking, what has been your favourite part/line of this story so far? Again, let me know.
