She sits down, minding her large belly. The woman is very relieved that the twins will be coming out soon. But they're still in there, moving around, making her stay up all night. All she does in her spare time is sit down, watch television, eat a little here and there, and try not to answer calls from him. She's pleased that she was clever enough to hide until the pregnancy is over.
A little giggle rises from her throat when she tries to imagine him as a father. The giggle grows into a full on laugh that makes her sides hurt. She hasn't laughed like this in years. After she's done laughing, she turns on the television and the evening news comes on.
The reporter says that there is a killer in the area, and that he's targeting pregnant women that are close to giving birth.
This news disgusts the woman and she turns off the television, and tries to fall asleep.
It might be the twins kicking in her stomach or the eerie feeling that someone's watching her that makes her excited. It reminds her of her old life, chasing around criminals. If this was eight months ago, the woman herself would find the man and kill him.
But she's in her bed, alone, too excited to go to sleep.
