Melkor has always been content to be alone. He neither needs nor wants anything that he can't already create or provide for himself. That is, until he sees Aulë's prized Maia dancing freely in the fields on the first night of the Valar's feast to celebrate the creation of Eä. In time, Gloredhel rides west to search for Gwaihir and take counsel with Celebrimbor, now that Annatar has been revealed as Gorthaur returned.

Valinor, post-canon. Maedhros is reembodied just as he was before going to Middle-earth. He has trouble adjusting.
