After fleeing the firebombing of District 12, Peeta wanders the woods beyond the fence for days. At one point, he attacks a young woman after catching her trying to steal his food. When he realizes the young woman is Katniss Everdeen, traumatized and alone, the pair begin a journey to District 13... and of self-discovery. Can two people, two lost souls, find love to make a family?

The Rebellion has been crushed and the Dark Days are over. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the Capitol has taken control once more. To make sure that the districts never forget their defeat, the Capitol institutes the Hunger Games: a battle to the death using the districts' children. It's a perfect equation, but unexplainably, there are inconsistencies. And if they have their way, there will be more. Rewritten into the third person.

A rebellion was sparked during the 95th Hunger Games. Panem almost fell. But the Capitol squashed the rebellion, extinguishing any hope at a new future.
