Emma and Regina were in a committed relationship, and Emma was eagerly looking forward to taking the next step by proposing to Regina on April Fools' Day. She had a sneaky plan in mind – to prank Regina by making her think that the proposal was just a joke, only to surprise her with a real proposal later.

However, things quickly spiraled out of control when Emma decided to use her magic to create a whimsical atmosphere for the big moment. Instead of casting the spell correctly, Emma ended up cursing herself. Now, every time she opened her mouth to speak, the opposite of what she intended to say would come out. As you can imagine, this caused quite a commotion.

On the day of the proposal, Emma was a bundle of nerves and excitement. She had planned every detail, from a candlelit dinner to a ring hidden in dessert. However, as soon as she sat down with Regina, things began to unravel.

Emma's nerves got the best of her, and she blurted out the worst possible thing: "Regina, I absolutely don't want to spend another day with you." Emma's eyes widened as the words tumbled out of her mouth, and she was mortified at what she had said.

Regina was stunned and hurt. She couldn't believe that the woman she loved would say such a thing.

Emma tried to explain, but every time she spoke, her words only made things worse. "I can't imagine anything worse than waking up next to you every morning for the rest of my life," Emma continued, causing Regina's confusion to grow.

Things went from bad to worse as Emma continued to spout off unintentional insults, such as, "I hate your hair. I can't stand the way you smile." Emma was horrified, but she couldn't explain the curse that was causing her to say these things. She attempted to communicate her true feelings through gestures and facial expressions, but Regina was understandably baffled.

"I don't think we should be together anymore," Emma said, adding to Regina's pain and frustration. "I don't know why I ever thought this could work between us."

Regina was hurt and upset and was ready to walk out. However, Emma refused to give up. She leaned in and started explaining intently, this time carefully choosing the exact opposite words she wanted to say. "Listen, my love, you have to understand that nothing you've just heard from me is true. I love you with all my being, you are my everything," Emma said, her words finally conveying her true feelings.

"I love how you wake up earlier than I do and make me coffee. I also love how comfortable silence can be with you. I love how you chase your dreams, I love your passion, I love you for being a great parent, but most importantly, I feel incredibly lucky to have you in my life." Emma's words stumbled out of her as she spoke faster and faster. "It's just that I… that I… I feel cursed, because it seems like you hate me as much as I hate you, and I know that this list of things will keep growing as long as we are separated. So, I have to ask: will you break up with me?"

As Regina watched Emma struggle to express herself, she started to put the pieces together. She had heard about magical curses that could cause people to speak in opposites, and it suddenly clicked. With this realization, Regina felt a mix of emotions. On the one hand, she was frustrated that Emma hadn't told her about the curse earlier. On the other hand, she couldn't help but find the situation hilarious. It was just like Emma to accidentally curse herself and cause chaos.

"Emma, what have you done?" Regina asked, fighting back a smile.

"Finally, you asked me!" exclaimed Emma, blinking rapidly. "Everyting is fine, I am okay, I didn't use my magic, I swear! I wasn't trying to create some kind of magical atmosphere for the proposal and I definitely DID NOT messed up the spell a bit. This is exactly how I planned this moment to happen," Emma tried to gesture, but her arms were shaking with nerves.

Regina couldn't contain her laughter any longer. "Oh, Emma," she said, shaking her head. "You and your magic."

Emma grinned in relief, pleased that Regina wasn't too upset with her. "You know when I realized I was certain I wanted to break up with you?" Emma sighed, her voice defeated.

Regina smiled, now amused. "Do tell, Emma."

"Well, it was on a terrible snowy night when you forced me to go for a boring walk," Emma explained, her frustration still evident. "It was just so annoying the way you kept wrapping your arms around my waist and giving me those gross kisses from time to time. I was feeling so down and depressed. Then, as I looked up at the hideously shining stars, I realized that I'd had enough of those walks with you. I wanted to die of unhappiness.

"And that's when you decided to propose?" Regina asked, amused.

Emma pulled out the diamond ring she had been hiding, preparing for the ultimate romantic gesture. She got down on one knee and took a deep breath, ready to turn this disastrous moment into a memory they would laugh about for years to come.

"Regina, will you make me the happiest woman under the sun by getting out of my life?" Emma asked, her words silly, but laced with a hint of sincerity.

Regina couldn't help but burst into laughter, tears welling up in her eyes. "Emma, you're the most ridiculous person I know," Regina managed to say between giggles. "But you know what? I love you for it and I can't wait to tease you about this for the rest of our days. Yes, Emma, I will marry you."

Emma's heart swelled with joy as Regina slipped the diamond ring onto her finger. They embraced, feeling their love for each other grow stronger with each passing moment.

"I despise you so much," Emma said, kissing Regina on the nose.

"And I despise you even more," Regina replied with a grin.

As Regina cast a quick spell to heal Emma's previous magical mishap, they gazed into each other's eyes, ready to begin their new life together, filled with love, laughter, and magic.
