You walk slowly down the corridor.
The battle is over.
Our side has won.
The destroyed castle is the proof of this, and though it pains you to see it like this, you know it is a sign of victory.
You know that for this to have ended a lot would have been lost, and you also know that it will take a lot of time to heal.
But that's not important at the moment, because all is safe.
Your goal has been achieved, and the future generations will now have a nice place to live.
One without prejudice, one with hope, with love, with happiness.
You smile at the thought, and yet it brings tears to your eyes.
Because even though you've been trying not to think of it, the pain is still there.
Because even though the future holds happiness, in this very moment, you can't help but think of the ones you've lost, of the ones who've sacrificed their life for you to achieve your goal.
You hope you've made them proud.
You hope that wherever they are that they're happy.
You hope they've taken that train that will lead them to someplace unexpected and new.
You smile again.
You smile because you've seen that place. You've been there, and you know that it's a wonderful place.
But now the ones that are left need you.
And so you head back down the corridor, and into the Great Hall, where some are still around their loved ones, where you see the ones that remain crying on each other's shoulders.
You go to them, because even though you know that your departed are fine and happy, they don't.
They need to be comforted, and so that's what you do.
You go to them, and even though some of them don't want to hear it, you tell them that it's all going to be okay.
You sit down with them, and you tell them about that place.
That wonderful place where you can conjure up anything you please.
You assure them that even though they might not be physically there, that in their hearts they remain, and that their souls are happy in that place where they've gone.
You tell them about how their journey has just begun, and about how now, the time has come for all of you to live your lives.
You tell them that every day has a new journey waiting, and how there are roads to be travelled and new things to experience.
And when they ask you if you'll stay, you tell them that you will.
Because you're done running and evading and being told what to do, and now it's time to live your life the way you want to, with the people you love.
You're the boy who lived, and you're sure as hell going to find out what living really means.
A/N: I don't really know why I wrote this, but I rather like how it turned out, and it felt nice to write it, even if it doesn't really make much sense. I know it's really short, but I hope you like it anyway.
Please, please tell me what you think, because I've been trying to improve my writing, and I want to know how I'm doing so far.
To those of you who are reading my multi-chapter story, "When all else fails, the superfans prevail" I'm sorry I'm not updating, I'm not really that inspired at the moment, but I will continue it, don't worry.
