I honestly don't like this one too much. Kinda rushed, if you ask me. But you can read on if you want to.
The following is a non-profit fan-based parody. Warriors belongs to Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry. All names and designs belong to me, but the characters belong to their respective individuals. Flamestar belongs to Katie N., Fogpelt belongs to Pat H., Silverfang belongs to Riley M., Branchfur belongs to Jenna C., Smallbird belongs to David D., and Featherpaw/Feathercloud belongs to Elizabeth K.. "Featherfang?"
"Too tom-ish. Featherfur?"
"Too generic. Feathertail?"
"No, StarClan has banned that name."
Fogpelt blinked. "Why'd they do that?"
"I dunno," Flamestar muttered with a shrug. "For the same reason I couldn't be Flametail, I guess. We should keep going."
"Right. Featherstorm?"
"That doesn't make any sense."
"Silverfang's teeth are white and Branchfur isn't made of wood. Your point?"
"Touche. Featherheart?"
"Nah. Featherclaw?"
"No. Featherpelt?"
"Featherfrost?"
"Her eyes are green."
"Featherheart?"
"I already said that, mouse-brain."
"Sorry. Featherberry?"
"That's just ridiculous." Heaving a heavy sigh, Flamestar looked to the heavens, hoping that StarClan could hear her inner plea for a competent deputy. What she found instead was a single cloud, big and fat and puffy and white, surrounded by its feathery gray companions that streaked the sky like stripes.
The ginger tabby leapt to her paws.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Pointedrock for a Clan meeting!"
"The hell?" Fogpelt jumped, surprised.
Flamestar ignored her perplexed deputy and watched ReedClan slowly merge into a single crowd. She flicked her tail, and the dull roar of gossip that littered the Clan ceased. "Smallbird, Featherpaw."
The little black-and-white warrior picked his way carefully to the front, followed shortly by his gray-tabby-and-white apprentice. She looked utterly confused and somewhat nervous.
"Smallbird," Flamestar began, leaping off of the Pointedrock and landing with precision and accuracy. "Is Featherpaw ready to receive her warrior name?"
At this, all confusion that clouded Featherpaw's gaze cleared, and she sat about a mouselength taller. "She is," her mentor meowed proudly.
"Then I, Flamestar, leader of ReedClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice." Featherpaw lifted her head proudly. "She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Featherpaw, do you swear to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
Determined green eyes met chocolatey-brown eyes unwaveringly. "I do," Featherpaw said in a clear voice.
She's gonna go places. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. "Featherpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Feathercloud. StarClan honors your skill and determination, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ReedClan."
As the crowd dispersed, chanting Feathercloud's new name, Fogpelt leaned in and whispered in Flamestar's ear, "That name is stupid."
"Oh, shut up."
In the real ReedClan, the leaders don't decide warrior names, I do, because I'm the only one who knows each and every person's cat name. So for the record, I actually saw the cloud in the sky that Flamestar saw. It was in the middle of the day, and I didn't think too much of it until band practice that night, when I found a feather in a puddle. You don't see feathers too often around where I live, so I decided to give Elizabeth her warrior name in honor of the wet feather and the odd-looking cloud. Feathercloud!
Anyway, don't forget to review! :)
