Chapter 12
*Rumpleteazer/Celeste*
Everyone ran towards the corner of the junkyard where a big cat was slowly making his way towards our clearing. Scared to face rejection for a third time I retreated to the boot of the car to watch from the shadows. I would let him get comfortable and relax before making my presence known to him. I didn't want him to get a bad first impression. Two almost silent thuds sounded next to me. It was Cori and Tanti "Don't fret young one, Old Deuteronomy doesn't warrant fear, but he rather have trust and respect. I nodded and they slipped silently away while the next song began Munk was telling a story that everyone seemed to know by heart. I played my part well while also listening carefully to this funny story that I had not heard before. A clash of thunder sounded as the song ended and Deme once more yelled out
"Macavity!" and everyone scattered. The songs continued and we danced around and before I knew nor wanted it to the ball was coming to a close. When unexpectedly Macavity kidnapped Old Deuteronomy! The tribe was in shock no one knew what to do. Then when all hope seemed lost the henchmen brought him back seemingly unharmed, which I found to be very suspicious. So did Deme as she jumped onto Old Deuteronomy's back and revealed him to be actually Macavity. He grabbed Mom and started to drag her away and I froze he couldn't hurt my family, not now after I finally found them. I leapt from hiding space and started to run towards Deme and Mac, but halted when I saw Munk there attacking Mac where he stood. Augustus ran in to help and grabbed Deme laying her off to the side of the clearing where I ran to her side.
"Ma ah' ya okaeh? Oi'm sorreh ma Oi troied ta get ta ya, but Oi was too slow." Deme reached a paw up to stroke my cheek and softly spoke.
"I wouldn't want you going anywhere near that awful cat, you're here now that's what matters. I love you Teazer." I whispered with tears in my eyes 'Oi love ya too' back to her just as Bomba appeared at her sister's side and cradled Deme's head in her lap. The rest of the night ended in a blur as I was too in my head thinking about how my mum called me Teazer and said she loved me! I felt fully accepted and no longer was worried about old D's choice. If my mum could love me then who wouldn't care for me to be around. After Grizabella went was chosen and did her thing, Munk grabbed my paw and led me to the middle of the clearing in front of the returned Old Deuteronomy.
"Young one, I've heard you've been returned to your family and after seeing you tonight acting as only a true Jellicle would I know that you belong in this tribe. Welcome home my dear." I smiled happily and ran to hug my sister and mother. I was home and safe for the time now. I went back to Deme and Munk's den with them and relaxed the day away sleeping and talking with my family. It was late afternoon when I left the den to find Mungojerrie, finding him lounging around the clearing I slipped into the junk and slowly made my way around to him. And once I was close enough I pounced onto Jerrie. Laughing we rolled around wrestling for a while until Jerrie's face became serious. "So da ya still feel loike ya don't belong? Cuz if ya da, then we can leave and foind our own home." I shook my head and with a small smile on my face I replied.
"Oi nevah want ta leave. Evahyone Oi love is here. Oi'm finally home."
