Death City
Soul POV
I could not believe what he was seeing. Maka was wearing something that wasn't nerdy, it actually looked really hot on her. Her blond hair had pink stripes in them. What was up with the way she was acting? What was going on? Why was Lord Death showing them this? Why did I even care what happen to her? Why did she leave? What was up with that Ivan guy that was kissing Maka's hair?
Only Sprit and Lord Death acted like they had a clue what was going on. "Why is Maka hanging out with Nikki? Of all people in the world why her?" Sprit started to run to the door with tear streaming down his eyes. "I have to go save her!" Sprit yelled.
"Riper cop!" Lord Death yelled while ramming his hand into Sprit's head. Sprit's limp body land on the floor with blood running down the side of his head. "No one is going anywhere!" Lord Death yelled. "Maka looked like she was fine in Ohio. But if you want to see where she was because there is job there." Sprit sat up and looked down to his feet while listening to Lord Death. "There is a problem down there I am sending a group down to take care of the problem. If you want to see Maka; you need to sign up and join the group. That is all I wanted to say to you. You can leave now." Lord Death turned around and look backed at his mirror stopping any conversation.
Black Stair and Tsubaki was the first to leave the Death Room. Kid, Liz and Patty left next and after them Soul left with a strange feeling in his gut. He hadn't felt this way in a long time; the last time he felt this way was when Maka got hurt a long time ago. What happen to Maka? What happen to us? We use to be so close but after what happen with Arusa nothing been the same. I can't help but think she left because of me. Or maybe it was the people at this school that made her run away. Why does my heart hurt so much? Why do I feel like crying? While Soul was thinking; Stain, Sprit and Marie stayed behind in the Death room.
"Are you guys going to sign up to go to Ohio?" Black Stair asked when everyone was out of the room and was standing in a circle.
"I don't know." Kid said.
"I have to go with kid no matter what you think, your dad going to make you." Liz says.
"I don't care as long as I can bring Mr. Giraffe!" Patty yelled while punching the air.
"Don't you guys want to know about what to happen to Maka?" Black Stair said.
"I don't think we should go snooping around in Maka business." Tsubaki said.
"What about you Soul? What do you think about all of this?" Kid said.
"Yeah Soul what are you thinking? You've been very quiet." Liz said.
"I don't know what we should do. I want to go to Ohio and see what the hell she was thinking. But at the same time I don't want to even see her." I said looking up at the ceiling.
"This is all so confusing. Why can't life be so much easier?" Black Stair said.
"Black Stair you think everything is hard." Liz said. "As for this whole mess we should go to Ohio just for the job and if we run into Maka we will ask her what is going on."
"Yeah I think that would work." I said. "There haven't been any good missions lately." I stopped for a minute and put my arms behind my head while walking away from the group. "This one might be interesting."
Ohio (next day)
Maka POV
It was a bright Sunday morning. The sun shined its rays of light across the lush green grass in the backyard. There where birds sing while hoping and flying from branch to branch. It was a morning that you only see in movies and I was enjoying this moment of time. Well that was until I heard the fighting coming from down stairs.
Last night when we got home Katie and Maddie where already sleeping in their rooms, the boys tried to stay up all night playing videogames. But when Nikki, Tori and I came home all of the boys where fighting over what to play. When they got to loud Nikki made them all go to bed and she also said they could not play any games in the morning. The boys came up with this idea where they would wake up early before Nikki woke up. Doing this they thought they could play videogames for an hour or so. When Nikki did wake up they would go back to their room and pretended to be sleeping. But Nikki thought this would happen so she slept on the couch in the living room and caught them.
After I just woke up Nikki caught the boys, all I could hear was there yelling and wining. Soon other people were yelling at them to 'shut up' or be 'quit'. I had her head under my pillow to block out the nose but that did not work so well. My perfect movie Sunday morning was ruin today. After a while of trying to block out the noise, I decided that it was time to wake up. I got out of bed and got dress. I put on one of the outfits Nikki had bought me the day before.
I rubbed the last of the sleep out of my eyes and walked downstairs. The closer I got to the living room, the louder the yelling and screaming got. I slowly made my way down, taking each step carefully, I was taking my time down so I wouldn't fall face first down the stairs.
The first thing I saw when I entered the living room was Seven, Gage, and Alex where siting on the floor, not doing anything besides blaming each other for coming up with the plan in the first place. Everyone else must have given up on going back to sleep because they were sitting at the table or sitting in living room. Almost everyone was playing on their phones. Nikki was the first to notice me standing there, she waved me over to the dining room table. "Hey, we were about to wake you up. Breakfast is almost ready." Nikki said looking up from her phone.
"Cool," I took the sat next to Jack. "Good morning guys."
"Good Morning Maka." Katie said putting down her phone. Katie looked up and gave me a big simile.
"Did you guys hear that they found a dead body in a warehouse?" Nikki said.
"No." Someone said form the living room.
"What happen?" Maddie asked looking at Nikki.
"They found the body of a sixteen year old girl in a warehouse on Fifth Street. It's the sixth death in the past three weeks. Everyone thinks it the same person doing all the killing but no one has any proof. The guy doesn't leave anything behind to ID him, there no calling cards either." Nikki said showing us the new report on her phone.
"Wow, six people?" Jack said looking closely to the phones screen.
"Yeah. It's like the whole world has gone mad!" Nikki yelled.
"No it hasn't the world always been crazy, just ask the Romans." Tori said with a small sigh.
"Nice," Katie said. "I'm going to check on the food." Katie got up and walked in to the kitchen.
"So what are we doing today?" Maka asked.
"Well, Alex, Jack, Maddie, and Katie all have to work today. I don't know what Alexis and Tori are doing-"
"We have to go help plant plants in the gardens at Kids Kingdom." Tori said.
"I have detention for stating a food fight." Nikki said looking down at her phone.
"If you don't have anything to do Maka, you can go to the store and get food for the week." Katie said while flipping a pancake in to the air and catching it with the pan. It went up to about Katie's head (she is very tall) and then landed in the pan.
"Sure. What is Kids Kingdom?" I said leaning over the table.
"It's a playground and garden, it teaches kids all kind of skills. Hopefully the raccoons didn't get into the trash again. They really need to do something about their trash cans." Tori stopped talking and looked at Alexis with daggers in her eyes. "I was forced into going. Alexis signed me up without my permission."
"I thought it would be fun to hang out!" Alexis wined with a hurt face. "You don't have to do it, you could have told me no!"
"Well I can't back out if it now. Maybe it won't be so bad." Tori said trying to be optimistic. Tori got up from the table and walked over to where Alexis was. Tori extended her arms and so did Alexis, their arms wrap around each as they gave each other big hug. "Besides I need a little sun I'm too pale."
"You going to do it?" Alexis asked.
"Yeah," Tori said rolling her eyes. Alexis got up in jump up-and-down while squealing. Katie took all the pancakes out of the pan and moved them onto a plate. She walked over to the table, she set down the plate on the table and then went back to the fridge. She pulled out the real Canadian maple syrup and she also pulled out the fake kind too. Katie put the syrups on the table, she also got out some plates and forks. Katie set put ten plates and ten knives and forks with napkins down on table.
"Breakfast is ready guys." Katie called out to everyone in the living room. Everyone in the living room jumped of the couch and ran over to the table. Everyone fought over to the seat closest to the golden brown pancakes. Maka finally was able to see how many pancakes there were, there were a lot of pancakes sitting on that one plate. When everyone got to their sits they grabbed their forks and moved some pancakes on to their plate each. Some of us put the real maple syrup on them and the other put the fake maple syrup. Jack even mixed up the two kinds of maple syrup on his plate. I grabbed five pancakes and a bottle of real maple syrup poured it all over the top.
Pancakes where my favorite breakfast food. So far Soul's pancakes was the best I ever have had. I even use to thing that his where even better than IHOP's pancakes. But now that I have tried Katie's pancakes, I think Katie's are the best. I felt like I was eating a little piece of heaven when I bit into them. They would melted into my mouth.
"Katie your pancakes are the best in the world!" Alex said while shoving the golden brown fluffy food into his mouth.
"Thank you," Katie took small bits of her breakfast (unlike anyone else).
Seven stabbed a cut peace pancake and lift it high in the air above his head while some of syrup dripping down the sides. "To eat a pancake or not to eat a pancake, that is the question." Some of the syrup dripped off the pancake and on to Seven forehead. It slowly made its way down his forehead and over his nose. Seven desperately tried to lick the syrup off his nose.
"Oh my god! Stop that." Tori throw a paper towel at Seven. The paper towel hits him in the face, it slid off his face and landed on his plate.
Soon all the pancakes where eaten and everyone plates where clean of every crumb. For a few minutes everyone sat around the table and talked until it was time to get moving. When that time came everyone put their plates in the dishwasher and went into their bedroom to get dress. After everyone was dress and ready to go everyone went about their day the way they planned it. Seven, Gage, and Alex left to go to work. Tori and Alexis went to help out at Kids Kingdom. Nikki went to detention and Katie gave me the grocery list and a key to the house, then left for work. I had no way to get to the store and back besides walking. But when I locked the door to the house and started to walk down the drive way, to find Jack in his car. Jack honked his horn and waved. "You need a ride?" he asked.
"Yeah but how are you going to get back?" I asked.
"I will get a ride back with Gage. We both work in the mall, we get off at the same time. I was going to ride with him there but Gage drove off without me. I'll go to work then I can give you the keys to the car." Jack said unlocking the door.
"Thanks for the ride." I jumped in his car. While driving to the mall Jack and I made small talk. Jack told me about what he likes, his dreams, and his plans for the future. He mention to me that there was a book shop down the rood form the house had a job opening and that I could apply to. In return I told him everything she could think of. I told Jack what Death City was like and why I came to Ohio. We could not stop talking to each other. For some reason I felt natural around him. But soon Jack pulled in to the parking lot of the local mall. Jack pulled in to the car pull lane and turn off the engine. Jack and I got out of the car and Jack gave me the keys. Jack and I said our good byes, Jack walked in to the front doors of the mall and I got in the car and turned on the engine. Leaving the mall behind me I drove to the grocery store.

After I got all the food form the list I went back home and put the food away. With nothing else to do I decide to drive to the book store Jack had mention before. I got back in the car and drove around until I found it. The book store was in strip mall located between a local pet shop and TJ Max's. The front of the book store had two big glass windows with all the new books they got on display. Also on both windows there was a 'help wanted' sing taped onto them. The outside walls made of red brick and between the two windows was a double door. The words "Half Price Book Store" was written in big red block letters and was put right above the door. I pulls Jack's car in the parking lot of the strip mall. I was able to get a spot in the front of the parking lot so I could walk right to the door. I got out of the car, locked it and walked to the door. When I pulled open the door, a little bell chimed as the door hit it altering everyone in the store that someone was coming in.
There where books everywhere; all the books where put on shelves in their own little section and were organized by the authors name. In the middle of the room was two big honey colored wooded desk that was used as the checkout area and siting in the desk was a girl that looked about the age of twenty was working there. The other employs where walking around helping customers find books or music. All along the sides of the store where book shelves going all the way to the ceiling, there where long shelves that sat on the floor. On the other side of the desk was a table full of new books, the popular books and the top picks from workers. I walked up to the lady standing at one of the wooded desk. "How can I help you to day?" They lady asked sounding a little bored.
"Hi, I saw the 'help wanted' sing in your window and I was wondering if I could get a job here." I said as personally as I could. The lady pointed at a stack of green papers on the top of the desk.
"That the registration form is here. Fill it out and return it soon as possible." The lady said. I pick up the sheet of paper and folded the paper up. I said a silent 'thank you' and turned around to look at the store. I walked around looking at the books. People asked me if I need help but I told them that I was just looking. I couldn't find anything I liked so I headed to the doors to leave. When I was outside the store there was a wired man hanging around Jack's car. He had jeans on and a black hoodie coving his face. He saw me walking to the car and ran away. What up with him? I thought while I got in the car. I decided to forget about the man.

A man wearing all black walked around the printer of a very big house. From what he heard there where ten teenagers lived in this house. He was hoping the person he was looking for lived in this house. He's been looking all over this stupid town to find this person because his boss wanted them. So far everyone he meet was sadly not the person he was looking for at all. To stop them from running away and warring the person, he would make sure that they would never speak a word again. Oh how he loved to hear them beg for their life; it filled him up with joy. Though he was somewhat disappointed that he was not allow to kill the prison he was looking for at first but when his boss gets what he needs, it's goodnight for them.
The man wearing all black walked back in front of the house only to meet a mad neighbor. The neighbor was six feet tall, he had a lot of muscle, bald and carrying a wooden bat. "What are you doing here punk?" The man didn't answer, he didn't even look the man in the eye. "You better start talking now! I know you don't live in this neighborhood."
"Can you tell me about the people who live in this house?" The man asked still looking down.
"Why the hell would I tell you? If you really like to know come back when their home."
"Ten teens live in this house right?" The man said still looking down.
"What are you? A stalker or something?" The six foot man gripped his bat harder.
"Am I right?"
"Boy you better get out of here before I call the cops or worse!"
"What are you going to do? Kill me with a bat?"
The neighbor lifted up his bat, ready to strike the mystery man but he ran way. "Yeah! You better never come back!" the neighbor yelled after him. After the man was out of ear shot the man yelled to his wife to call the police.

When I got home, all I could see there was a police car in front of the house.
I pulled into the driveway next to someone's blue car. Alex and Jack where talking to two cops on the front step, there was also a very tall bald man next to Jack, I got out of the car accidently slamming the car door shut behind me. I ran up to the front door stopping right next to Jack. "What happen here?" Maka yelled.
"Our neighbor saw someone walking around are house today." Jack said. He pointed at the tall man next to him. "This is Bob, he saw the man walking around the house."
"Hi," Bob said. I waved to him and sat down on the front steps over hearing what they were talking about.
The two cops left around diner time, by then everyone in the house knew what had happen but no one talked about it. They all just did their own thing, trying to not to worry about what happen. Tori was in her room, Maddie was playing with her pet rat like always, Jack, Seven, Alex and Gage where playing some game on the Xbox. Katie was reading a book in her room, Nikki and Alexis where in the living room. I was in my new room getting ready for bed, I claimed into the soft warm bed and fell asleep under the covers.
"Maka wake up. Maka. Maka. You need to walk me up now." Souls voice filed my ears, it sounded like he was calling out to me. I opened my eyes excepting to see him standing next to me but there was nothing out of the ordinary. Then I saw a man looking down at me, but the darkness of the room keep me from seeing his face. "Now you're up, I need to talk to you about something." He said in Soul's voice. "I'm going to take you with me." He said in a cold dark voice. He tried to garb me but I slipped out of the bed and ran out of the room.
He started to laugh. "You can't run from me, Maka!"
"Stay away from me!" I yelled on the top of my lungs. "Someone help me!" No one came out of their rooms to help me.
"I can't do that Maka." That time I stopped dead in my tracks, he took my voice this time. He slowly made his way behind me. He wrapped his arms around me and put his head on my shoulder. "Your mine now."
"No!"
I shot up in my bed cover in sweet, I looked around my room trying to see if that man from my dream was real and in my room. At first I could not see him but after my eyes got use to the dark, I saw someone. There was a man was standing in the corner of my room looking down at his feet. "I told you can't run away, Maka." I jumped out of my bed and ran out of my room, screaming for help. Everyone heard me screaming and ran up to me asking what was wrong. Nikki was the first person to get to me than everyone else in the house.
"What wrong Maka?" Nicole asked pulling my small frame into a hug.
"There was a man in my room." I said. Alex and Gage ran into my room and looked around trying to find someone.
"No one in your room Maka." Gage said emerging form my room.
"What?" I said going into there. The lights where on so it was easier to see. He was right no one in my room but the window to my room was open, the screen was missing and the curtains where blowing in the wind.
