Warning: Sexual content and D18 for those who don't like one or the other!
He had not intended to act that way. And it was a mistake in his part, considering that even the herbivore managed to notice his change in demeanor. It was surprising that Tsuna had some of his mannerisms memorized, but it wasn't convenient if he actually wanted to hide something crucial. Like his thoughts, or emotions. It was rare when he slipped like that, and it only happened, fortunately, around Kusakabe, who he knew would not tell a single living soul.
But he knew Tsuna wouldn't either, and even if Tsuna decided to, no one would believe him. It's strange, yet welcome to be rendered to a totalitarian disciplining machine by the general population, exempt of emotions. Not that he wasn't, but as a general leader, there must be no crack or slight room for weakness. Of course, the herbivore in loose clothing was a test of true self-control, but it was Tsuna's eyes that finally made a dent on his will. They were demanding, dark, and just challenging. It invigorated his whole being to see an equal, just an equal. Not one to fight or befriend, but to accept. And Tsuna has always been his first, Dino was his second. The fact that Giotto's impending arrival also had him on the edge, he did not pause for every breath, listening to every sound in his surroundings.
What gave him the most unwanted satisfaction was knowing that Tsuna didn't want to see Giotto, he asked Hibari for a day out, actually confided something personal like that. And if Tsuna landed a secret on him, how many more did he have? Did Yamamoto Takeshi and Gokudera Hayato know more about Sawada Tsunayoshi than anyone else? After all, they're inseparable. He almost considered a phone call to the Storm Guardian, but his urges to know more will have to wait. Tsuna kept giving him surprises, and telling his thoughts, so perhaps their relationship was finally going somewhere.
In the end, he called Dino.
When the sun and the blare of his alarm announced that it was time to wake up and start the day, he was grateful for the emptiness beside him. He remembered The Talk he had with his father when he was thirteen, and how Nana simply hummed a peppy tune, cooking and oblivious to her son's embarrassment. Now, it was natural to know that he had to address his problem, which he so wanted to. Reborn liked to joke how his sexual appetite could exceed even Yamamoto's, considering how many Dying Will pills he's consumed and the grand effort it took to exhaust himself.
He rummaged through his sock drawer, finding exactly what he was looking for. It was like seeing an old friend, and without hesitating, he glazed his fingers with lubricant, appreciating the coolness. When he touched himself, he gasped at the spark and the immediate need to buck upwards . The relief he felt was indescribable, he welcomed the heat and pleasure that bubbled in his groin as he stroked and alternated his pace, and it took so little effort to climax; he felt pleased to know he had pure and utter privacy. It was the first time he welcomed being alone, the only occasion he could ever even alleviate his personal sexual tension was when he took a bath and Lambo was playing outside with I-Pin. After lying blissfully on the bed, panting, he remembered that school would start in less than an hour and he still had to make bentos for himself and Hibari.
"Tsuna-kun!"
Shit.
He pulled his boxers on quickly, and stuffed his lube under the pillow. What would he have done if it was Hibari-san who walked in on him masturbating? His face burned at the thought, and all the bliss that he felt momentarily dissipated because Kyoko was downstairs. Which meant Hibari-san left the front door open, and the bad possibilities were endless. He's never moved this quickly before. His dress shirt was on, he had to choose a fresh pair of boxers, and he couldn't find a clean pair of socks anywhere.
Great, he had to do laundry when he got home and Kyoko was still waiting. "Just a sec, Kyoko-chan! Almost ready!"
Grabbing his backpack, Tsuna ran downstairs, only tripping slightly, and gasped. Because Hibari stood there, hand wrapped around a cup of tea and the other clutching a newspaper. His face portrayed nothing like always, only a small frown as he eyed Tsuna's rumpled shirt.
Tsuna felt his brain short-circuit, Hibari opened the door. Hibari was in the house the entire time. Hibari probably heard. "Are you okay, Tsuna-kun? Are you sick?"
"No, I'm fine." He said automatically, looking for any hint on Hibari's face that might reveal a future embarrassing speech and avoiding Kyoko's probing gaze. "Good morning, Hibari-san. Why aren't you at the school?" He tried to sound merely curious, but failed miserably when his voice cracked and he could feel the shame in his new boxers. Getting rid of the evidence was never simple, in the Mafia and everyday world in general. The blankets had to be changed, his boxers washed, and just thinking about it made him anxious.
"I left Hibird's seeds here."
"Ah. Um, I'll go to the kitchen right now, and try to, try to cook lunch." Reborn was right. Casualty was never his forte, and now Hibari and Kyoko were both staring at him as if he had recited mathematical formulas.
"Tsuna-kun, I'll wait outside." Kyoko excused herself with a breezy smile, and he felt grateful for her decision to ignore his strange behavior. She shut the door behind her, and of course, Hibari had to say something.
He still held a cup of tea and the newspaper, but there was a thoughtful look that sent Tsuna on edge. "I'll tell Kusakabe to bring in takeout for lunch."
"That's fine, I can cook today."
"Tend to your physical urges, herbivore. They can be dangerous to ignore."
Tsuna wanted to die.
He knew one was prisoner to one's mind. And yet he he couldn't help himself, because now his fantasies could have an auditory element in them, the sounds of Tsuna touching himself and liking it. It was one thing to accidentally stumble upon someone masturbating, but to stay frozen, mesmerized and determined to keep the sounds was in Dino's words, a perversion. The most wonderful but deceiving part in all of this was that Dino didn't know about his interest in Tsuna, didn't know that deep down he craved for something that simply could not be. He accepted it, as he did most things that seemed unfair, but Hibari knew that human nature couldn't necessarily be conquered, but it could be controlled.
So he resorted to do away with most things. He ignored his urges and went to the only source of intimacy he had: Dino. It was always an unspoken deal, Hibari made a call, Dino would inevitably hint towards a get-together, and Hibari would be there shortly. They always met up in a cafe or quaint library. This time, he went to the rooftop, where he could still remember Tsuna eating his breakfast one bite at a time and Kyoko laughing at something that was probably humorous.
That was the ordeal at the moment. How close the herbivore was getting to Sasagawa. He couldn't do anything about it, or interfere with the herbivore's only human companionship besides his own. She was obviously trying to initiate something, and why should Hibari not let her? After all, she was in a position do so.
But he remembered something very outstandingly interesting, something that spoke volumes. It was when he had been transported to the future, along with everyone else. It was his relationship with Sawada Tsunayoshi. His future one at least, because it was something more than what they had now. The fact that he was entrusted with the fate of the Vongola Family and the only Guardian who knew of Tsuna's plans sparked something that resembled elation.
They were close, and on a first-name basis. But most of all, they had become stronger. Together.
"You're thinking, Kyouya? Should I guess or will you tell me?" Dino's eyes were always full of warmth, but he supposed it was a universal quality that was attributed to the Sky.
"Work. Discipline." He lied, something he was doing a lot as of late, but he knew the truth wouldn't be beneficial at some point. Either way, it didn't matter, because everything blurred into a hissed "touch me" in Dino's favorite hotel.
They had discarded their belts, and Dino was already covered in a thin sheen of sweat, his lips parted as he exhaled sharply every time Hibari bit down and traced every inch of a chiseled chest with his hands and tongue. "Y-You're eager today, Kyouya."
Dino unbuttoned his uniform shirt, hands working expertly and swiftly, eyes hungrily locked on Hibari's face. He pulled him down, kissing fiercely and moaning, pressing their naked bodies as close as humanly possible. Tsuna's voice also hitched every now and then, small breathy sounds that made Hibari just-
"Kyouya!" Dino gasped and bucked his hips to meet Hibari's, who could only focus on the heat and bursts of ecstasy, and pathetically try to forget all else. He wouldn't have felt as bad if his body didn't decide to betray him. Perhaps this was a consequence of his selfishness. He pined for the impossible while being overloved by a strong and kind carnivore. So he focused on Dino's gentle smile and allowed himself to be embraced.
"Kyoko-chan, have you seen the dustpan?" Tsuna rolled up his sleeves a bit, ignoring the cramp in his back and trying to seem productive. He rarely did clean up duty when Yamamoto and Gokudera were around, and now he was glad they weren't here to witness his slight wheezing. They would usually scare the principal out of it, or they would sneak around the halls and watch the boxing club practice.
"I think it's in the supply closet, the one in the second floor. While you're there, Tsuna-kun, could you bring me the lemon polish?"
"Oh. Yeah." Grateful to have left the confined space (he was in charge of two classrooms), he stretched and appreciated the empty halls. Not completely empty, since there was giggling and muffled laughter coming out of some rooms. He realized that people barely looked at him, and only stared when Kyoko was with him. Of course, there had to be rumors, but he didn't want to...intervene with Kyoko's reputation. Sometimes he didn't care, it was their last year of high school before college, but he could only cringe at the thought of someone believing they were doing...other things.
"Sawada!"
Hana's hair was cropped to her shoulders, eyes narrowed permanently like always. "Hana. Um, which floor are you doing?"
She didn't look impressed and merely rolled her eyes. "Are you with Kyoko?"
"Yeah, she's upstairs if you want to see her."
Hana grimaced and Tsuna tried not to squirm. Even after all these years, Hana Kurokawa could still stab him in the heart and pine after Lambo, but still protect Kyoko like a fierce mother bear. "Good. I'll see you later."
By the time he retrieved the polish and extra dustpan, Kyoko had sweeped one of his classrooms and disinfected the desks. She didn't stop after he cleared his throat, and just smiled. Oh gods, she was an angel. "Uh, you didn't have to do that. Kyoko-chan?"
"It's okay, I like cleaning. Someone else took over your other assignment, so we can leave right after we clear the board."
"Right. I'll do that!" He hastily grabbed the eraser and held in a squeal, never been so glad to leave. After they signed out and were dismissed from homeroom, they slipped on their shoes and ran. He remembered back then, imagining how Kyoko's hand would feel. And now he knows, but what was he supposed to do with that information? Her company was warm and gentle, and just knowing she was laughing as he pulled her towards the gate made him want something. Miss the whole romance thing, someone to share affections with. Reborn always said love was one of the most necessary parts in someone's existence, and right now, he knew Kyoko was just friendship love.
"Let's go to the bakery, I told Clare-san that we would stop by. She said something about a job."
"Finally! What is it, what will I be doing?"
She turned pink, and tried to muffle a giggle. "Bakery mascot. Haru-chan will be making your costumes and you'll promote the bakery around town."
Haru's costumes were something, to imagine himself in one made him regret existing (Parading around in public as a giant croissant or a cupcake, this was unbelievable, probably his lowest of lows. And Tsuna's been humiliated a lot) "If it makes you feel any better, you'll get free pastries, Tsuna-kun."
He forced a laugh that sounded like a sob, not knowing how to cope with the destiny of wearing a doughnut suit. His phone buzzed insistently, but he ignored it.
They walked, aware of the homework that had to be finished, but there was something good about today. Gokudera had texted him and sent him endless pictures of Yamamoto napping (and drooling), the beach, and selfies. He smiled at all of them and sent a picture of Hibird eating seeds. (He will never admit the growing number of pictures he had of Hibird.) No one had to know, except the bird and Roll.
The jingle of the bakery bell immediately greeted them, as well as Clare-san's grin. She wore a lacy pink apron, and behind her stood Haru. Her brown eyes still had that sparkle and she looked absolutely at ease. When they made eye contact, she turned red and beamed with excitement. "Tsuna-san!"
"Haru!" He met her hug and immediately felt his lungs burn. She hugged with a deadly grip that still scared him, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. It's what made Haru Haru.
He didn't realize how much time he had actually spent at the hotel, but when he finally arrived to the school grounds, almost everyone was done with cleaning duty. Only the clubs were still going on, and knowing that Tsuna was nowhere to be found made his eyesight sharper. "Kyou-san!"
"Where's Sawada Tsunayoshi?" He snapped, scanning the grounds and seeing nothing but the silhouettes of the volleyball club players.
"He left with Sasagawa, about an hour ago."
Rage, rage filled him, the quiet kind where he didn't want to be around anyone, even Kusakabe. Kusakabe must have realized that, and ordered the rest of the Committee to conduct a search. "There's no need," Hibari said calmly, looking at his phone with absolute distaste. It was a message from Tsuna.
Heading to Clare-san's! Kyoko is w/ me ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
"Do you still want us to scout him, Kyou-san?"
"No. I'll do it myself." He was gone for two hours, two hours. And now Tsunayoshi was spending exclusive time with that Sasagawa girl. It's not like he had to be the herbivore's shadow, but he cared, as annoyed as he is to admit that. Without even hesitating, he mounted his motorcycle and sped off faster than usual. The streets blurred and he supposed he was disrupting the peace, but at this moment he didn't care. Knowing that Tsuna wasn't within his sight and doing who knows what was enough to disregard the rules. Once he reached the shopping district, he released the clutch and tried to exert some self-control.
He wasn't prepared to be greeted by a giant crumb cake slice, and especially Tsuna being the crumb cake. "Welcome to Clare-san's! We have many specials today, step inside and have a great day!"Some people waved back, some stepped in, and others walked by. At least business was adequate, if he wasn't mistaken.
"Herbivore." Hibari knew he could've sounded less menacing, but seeing Tsuna jumping in a crumb cake costume was enough to humor him for the next ten years.
"H-Hibari-san!" Tsuna's face glowed scarlet, his scowl looking less threatening than Roll's growl. "What brings you here?"
"The specials."
"That's not funny."
"I'm aware. Next time you leave without letting me know personally, I will hunt you down myself and bite you to death, whether you work or not." His threat didn't hang in the air for long because before he could say another word, Miura Haru barged in with the most ridiculous smile on her face.
"Tsuna-san, I have more costume designs here, so I'll be stopping by your house tomorrow for measurements. Remember, air dry, okay?" Tsuna nodded affirmatively, determined to ignore the heat creeping up on his face. Hibari only narrowed his eyes, staring irritatingly at everything. At least he knew there would be more promising costumes in the future.
"Are you still angry?"
Hibari scoffed. "Doesn't concern you," he said shortly. But it should, he wanted to grind out. He didn't even know why being next to Tsuna made him so angry, but it did. It had to be the pining, he supposed. And the fact that he never truly had alone time with him, they were always surrounded by some crowd, a crowd determined to take Tsuna's attention away.
"Fine. I'll see you later," Tsuna replied, just as annoyed.
"Kusakabe will walk you home." And that's all he could really bring himself to say at the moment, because he had business to tend to.
Mukuro looked cleaner. Hygienically, to be more specific. He still smelled disgustingly vile, if Hibari was honest, but he didn't come all the way here to insult the pineapple's scent. "You look tired, Birdy." His serpentine voice echoed, the mold and decaying wood made him want to leave as soon as possible.
"I came here for the information." He tried to keep the contempt from controlling his posture, every vein in his body buzzed at the prospect of fighting. Fighting Mukuro and defeating him.
"Ah. You seem tense." Mukuro's red eye glowed. "Is someone keeping you up at night? Monsters?"
"If you want to speak nonsense-"
"Nonsense? I only speak the truth." Mukuro paused, still looking as condescending as ever. He needed to stop speaking. Now. "I take that back, Birdy. If I really had to be honest, I only expose others' truths."
"What you do doesn't concern me. Tell me the information or else I'll have to bite you to death." This time he withdrew his tonfa. Every minute wasted here was a minute he should be dedicating to keeping an eye on Sawada Tsunayoshi.
"I know what keeps you up at night." Five. Hibari counted, finally positioning himself in a defensive stance. Four. His grip tightened on the tonfa. "It's our Sky." Three. "But like you said, we have no time for trivialities like Sawada Tsunayoshi. You wanted the information."
Hibari exhaled and stilled, unmoved and maintaining neutrality at the mention of that name. "Your consideration is admirable, if not loathsome."
Without a warning, Mukuro pierced the decayed wooden floorboard with his trident, disappearing within swirls of indigo smoke. In his place stood Tsuna, only his brown eyes replaced by Mukuro's heterchromatic stare. "Giotto will arrive in two days, G will be his backup. And sources tell me the threat is nearby. You better keep me safe, Kyouya-kun."
Hibari twitched, he didn't really know what to do with himself, because his body wasn't-didn't want to cooperate, This wasn't Tsuna speaking to him, it wasn't his mouth saying those words. It was all an illusion and he'll never yield to such a foolish illusion. "That's all I wanted, herbivore." Tsuna, Mukuro, kept his eyes locked on the gaping hole in the ceiling.
"The Sky brings out the most peculiar out of our beings, Hibari Kyouya. It's in their nature. Here I am, cooperating with a Mafia boss, the Cosa Nostra, the group of people I swore to annihilate." Mukuro spoke with candid truth, he almost considered leaving and giving the Skylark a penny for his thoughts. But what will that do, if not prove the Cloud Guardian nothing. "Now I am stronger than ever, my enemy has given me power, a position. I understand your affinity to our fiery Boss. Sawada Tsunayoshi was going to be mine, still can, kufufu. But, I am a patient man." Tsuna's face gave a small smile, an indigo flame danced on his palm, a brown eye dissolving into pure red. "I will go now, kufufu. Chrome gets agitated when I disappear for so long."
And with that, Tsuna waved good-bye and disappeared.
He sorted the clothes cautiously because the last time he washed clothes, his underwear became pink. Tsuna made sure to stash his uniform in one pile and set aside all of Hibari's pants for a special wash. It took years of begging, but Tsuna's father finally brought a washing machine to the Sawada household. Nana preferred all labor done manually ("The hands are the teachers for patience, Tsu-kun!"), but it made everything take longer than it needed to be. (in his opinion). How Nana managed to wash and air dry everyone's clothes by the next morning remains a mystery, but today was a hot and dry day, and Tsuna knew he could take advantage. Domestic work always relaxed him, somehow, so he changed into a t-shirt and gym shorts, ready to organize a week's worth of clothes.
He emptied all pockets, humming happily when he found change, until he pulled out something out of Hibari-san's pants. It was Dino's leather-braided bracelet, one Dino wore all the time. It looked well-cared for, and Tsuna almost considered calling Dino to return it. But he didn't. He couldn't. Because it was Hibari's.
For you, Kyouya was engraved in the silver bead. He knew he had to give it back, but in the end, he slipped it into his pocket and kept it.
