Misaki twisted and turned in bed. Her headache was getting unbearable. Last night was hell. She tried to sleep the pain away but failed. For hours, vomit kept flowing out from her like running water. She reached for her phone.

10 am.Oh crap.

Charles must be awake by now! She was supposed to prepare breakfast 2 hours ago! She cringed trying to sit up. Placing a hand over her belly, she whispered to the baby growing inside.

"Sweetie, please be okay for mommy"

Work was piling up by the minute. Tora had to leave the country to attend an emergency meeting in London. For how long? He had no idea. But while he was gone, Misaki was in charge of everything. Tora trusted her more than anyone in that building. His vice president was inevitably next in authority. Regardless of this fact, everyone knew it was Misaki took control.

She scrolled through her calendar. Thank heavens it was a Friday. 1pm meeting with the publicist regarding the expansion at China. 5pm board meeting to discuss the upcoming tax reports. This is manageable, she thought.

Decided to cook omelet for as soon as she stood, nausea hit her like a bullet rain and she immediately regretted it. It was excruciating. The room twirled around her until all she could do was shut her eyes. She hated being helpless!

Charles needed her. He probably saw her sleeping earlier and chose not to wake her up. With all her strength, she pushed herself off the bed and walked find her son.

The little boy was reaching for the milk in the ref when she entered the kitchen. He was independent at a young age, just like her. Smiling, she leaned in to help him to get the carton of milk.

"Mommy! You're awake!" He was surprised. He saw his mom fast asleep just a minute ago.

"Yes I am. Have you been awake for long?" She bent down to kiss his forehead. He smelled refreshing. She wiped his messy blonde hair to the side to have a proper sight of her growing boy. He looked just like his dad.

She sat Charles on the tall chair by the kitchen counter while she prepared their breakfast. It's been 2 weeks since the night Takumi left her in the ignored all his calls, emails and visits. He called her every hour , came to her office, sent her apologetic flowers. The moment he began sending her jewelry, she completely stopped accepting anything at all. The poor mailman actually begged her to sign the package and just forgive Takumi. She gave him a laugh and assured him it wont be happening.

She flipped the omelet on the plate and placed it in front of Charles.

"Only one?"

"Yep. My tummy aches. So I think I'll pass breakfast" She watched across the table as Charles ate.

"Take a bite" He held out his fork to feed his mommy with a tiny piece of omelet. Mommy never let him skip breakfast coz it was very important.

Looking in those puppy dog eyes, she knew she couldn't resist. "Just one, okay?"

For the hundredth time in the past 24 hours, she had the urge to vomit. Charles watched her as she turned green and made the run for the kitchen sink. He couldn't go down because he was in the tall chair. Misaki heaved heavily as she tried to puke everything out. After a minute or two, she turned to face Charles.

"You have to stay with daddy" She didn't want Charles away from her but she had no choice. She was too sick to get up early to prepare breakfast, too dizzy to take Charles out for the weekend.

It was either Takumi's iphone or his office phone. Calling his iphone would be too personal. She scoffed at the thought. She was carrying their second baby for goodness' sake! After staring at the number, she pressed call and nervously waited for him to answer. This was an urgent matter. He was not picking up.

She dialed the office number this time. Wherever he was, she knew the secretary could get him the message.

"Hello. CEO's office" A girl answered. She sounded young. This wasn't his usual secretary. Is she the kind of girl Takumi wanted? Prettier and sweeter?

"Takumi Usui please"

"He's in a meeting right now. Would you want to leave a message?" Of course he was in a meeting. Takumi had full hands and she perfectly understood that. A sick woman was the last thing he needed.

"Just tell him to call me back"

"That might not be possible. I could take a message though. Who's this?"

"Misaki Ayuzawa"

"Oh!" She squealed in panic. " Just please stay in line. I'll get him for you"

Misaki could hear fast footsteps, a couple of excuse me's and the opening of doors in the background.

In the past few weeks, people had to gauge Takumi's mood before opening a discussion. It was hell for most. The CEO who usually had patience to listen carefully was now replaced with a hot-headed perfectionist. He was remained gorgeous and hot for the women though. Rumor has it, Misaki filed a divorce and he was stressed because of the paper work. Naturally, women tried their chances and did ridiculous things to comfort him.

The secretary opened the boardroom. A mid-30's woman was presenting a liquidation proposal in a dress that showed too much cleavage. Takumi was at the head of the table looking impatient.

"Sir, you have a call" She interrupted the woman without hesitation.

"I'm in a middle of a meeting" The less intermissions, the faster the meeting would finish.

" It's Ms. Ayuzawa" She bent down to whisper in his ear.

His eyes widened a fraction. In a powerful move, he stood up and announced that the meeting was over. The woman looked like she was going to demand for an explanation but Takumi was walking out the door, holding the phone for his life.

"Hello? Are you still there?"

"Hi" He said breathlessly while stepping in the privacy of his office. He'd been in darkness. Hearing Misaki's voice brought him back to life. If she wanted him to beg, he will kneel and crawl.

"Uhm... I need to ask a favor" She sounded embarrassed.

"Anything" And he damn meant it.

"Can you take care of Charles for two days? It's the weekend and I know he wants to go out but I'm... Uh... I can't right now"

He knew her well to know she was hiding something. He wanted to ask why but decided otherwise.

"I'll be there"

All meetings for the day were rescheduled, regardless of urgency.

Misaki didn't have to wait long. Takumi came faster than 911's top speed. He appeared at her doorstep, looking misplaced in his designer suit and tie. She chuckled. The apartment he left her 7 years ago was perfectly homey for them. A man like her husband belonged somewhere more sophisticated.

"What's so funny?" A smile was escaping his lips. She still had that effect on him.

"I just thought of something. Uhm...come in" she stepped aside, letting him in.

He looked around the place, secretly wishing he had this to come home to every night. A drawing of their family by Charles was on the wall. He noticed had a caption - Best parents in the world.

"Is that us?" He looked at her with a goofy grin. His son drew him! He was feeling ridiculously proud.

"It depends" she said honestly.

"Depends on what?"

"On until when you decide to be there for him" She took a step back and turned away. A pang of hurt came back. She saw how bright Charles lit up when he knew he had a real dad. It would kill her a thousand times when Takumi disappears from her son's life.

He felt her pain. He wanted to wrap her in his arms and assure her he was not going anywhere. Her father left them and he did too. But now he's back, nothing will take him away from her again.

"Misaki" He pleaded.

"Don't." She stopped any apology. Pity was the last thing she needed. "I'll go get Charles"

He stepped in the same time she turned around causing them to be so close. Her face was almost touching his chest that she could hear his steady heartbeat. His masculine scent smelled divine. That was the same smell she loved to snuggle at night when they were together. She never admitted it to anyone but her best sleeps was when he was there to hold her. She forced herself not miss it but sometimes, she just did.

His hand came around her waist and pulled her even closer.

"I love you so much" Takumi whispered like a prayer in her ear. He cupped both her cheeks and looked at her with piercing green eyes. It was impossible how much he loved this woman. He leaned in to kiss her and she shut her eyes.

His words were tempting her to believe that everything would go back to normal. This is insane, she thought but stood still.

A slight kiss fell in her forehead. But before she could even come back to her senses, he abruptly pulled her away. His hands were on her shoulders.

"What are you-" She was cut off when his hand flew to feel her forehead.

"YOU'RE BURNING UP!" He shouted. She looked scared and he immediately regretted it. Both of them knew how she stubbornly refused to ask for help when she was sick. Did she honestly think he would take Charles and leave her alone while she was this vulnerable?

"It's just a hot day. I'm fine" She faked a smile. He eyed her carefully. Pale face, tired eyes and messy hair. A small baby bump showed in her t shirt. The thought of his child growing inside of her made him insanely proud and happy.

"I'm so angry with you right now" He said before carrying her to the room.

"What are you doing? Put me down!" She half-screamed. Part of her was too tired already.

He gently laid her on the bed, tucking her in under layers of comforters. This woman would be the death of him. He was resisting the urge to punish her for trying to do everything on her own. Her safety and health were top priority. How could she not ask for help earlier? One more thing, she was not eating much judging by her weight in his arms.

" You stay in bed" He ordered. " I'll call a doctor to check up on you. For the meantime, take aspirin. It will help your headache."

He opened the familiar bedside drawer and took out her pill box.

"You really don't have to, idiot" She said as she sat up to drink it. She thirstily gulped the water.

"Stop being stubborn, kaichou" He smirked. He watched her pale skin turn red. Even after all these years, his girl blushed like a strawberry. His girl. His wife. His heart. This repulsive woman had him wrapped around her finger. Just then, he couldn't stop himself from stealing a kiss from her cheek.

"Baka" She placed the glass beside the clock. She had a glimpse of the time. It was 12 noon already! "Takumi, Charles has to eat lunch. He's taking his nap in his room"

"I'll take care of it. Go to sleep" He wiped her hair away from her eyes.

"Takumi?"

"Hmm?"

"Nothing happened between me and Tora." She told him. "We literally just slept on the bed. I know it's none of your business but I wanted you to know"

Mix emotions flooded in him. He felt relieved about the fact. He was raging jealous that Tora had fallen asleep and woke up next to Misaki. That was a privilege exclusive for him! He was angry because Misaki believed "it's none of his business". Hell no! Everything that concerned her was his business. Especially when another man gets close to his wife! But most of all, he felt love because she wanted him to know.

His lips found hers. He obviously didn't care if she was sick. He kissed her like it was their last. The world was a better place because of her. This woman gave him a reason to live. With her, everything fell into place.

Seconds, minutes? They didn't know. A soft knock took them back to reality. The door opened and came running in their little boy.

"Daddy, you're here!" He beamed. "Mommy needed you"
