What is up guys? CameronNinjaDragons here, and, even though it's been FOREVER since this has been updated, it's time for another battle! This one is between BinxAngelo13 and samuraifan282.
Without further ado, here's the chapter!
The sky was dark, the rolling clouds making the sunset even darker than it was supposed to be and harder to see. It was appropriate, however, but not good for them. Alexus and Rylan shared a solemn look. Artimus had a blank face as THEY appeared at the end. Alexus clenched her fists. Why did it have to come to this?
Binx, Jade, and Andrea started to approach from the other side. Binx's usually brown or purple eyes were now a emotionless gray.
Both groups stopped a short distance away from each other. It was silent, the wind swept through the open grass field, really setting the moment. Thunder rumbled in the distance. Eventually, Rylan spoke, his soft voice surprisingly strong. "It doesn't have to come to this!" he called. "Just... just stop and we can all walk away from this!" His voice broke a bit at the end, betraying how he really felt.
Binx took a step forward. "We...We can't! I'm sorry!" Alexus felt Rylan's aura change from hesitant to grave. "No. I'm sorry," he whispered.
He started to walk forward, Artimus and Alexus following suit. Binx, Jade, and Andrea did the same thing, walking to each other. With every second, they walked faster and faster, then jogged, then they broke into a full run at each other. Alexus drew her sword and leapt up into the air and made to bring it down on Andrea. Rylan lit his hands on fire and rushed, aiming an uppercut at Binx while Artimus conjured a staff from the ground and rushed at Jade.
Andrea used her water to blast at Alexus, Binx shadow traveled behind Rylan using her own water to put out the flames and Jade flew straight up. Rylan conjured an iron shield and sword. He swung his sword upwards, suddenly flinging Andrea up while Alexus tackled Binx from the side. Artimus flung his staff at Jade, it suddenly turning into a robe, one end in his hand. It lassoed onto her ankle, and he tugged her down to the ground.
Andrea tried encasing him in a water bubble while Binx blasted sound wave at Alexus, since sound waves disrupted sight, hearing and thought for a bit. Jade tried to keep flying up, to pull Artimus with her.
With the push of his hands, Rylan dispersed the water away from him. With a flick of his wrist, he stuck Andrea's feet into the ground and turned to the side. He threw out his arm, sending Binx uncontrollably up into the air, crashing into Jade before he rushed at Alexus's side, checking over her. He held a hand in front of her. "Can you see?" he whispered, supporting her so she wasn't stumbling around. She looked like she was trying to concentrate on whatever it was in front of her. "See what?"
Binx growled. Rylan HAD to be take out. Reaching into the shadows, she grabbed a rope then her and Jade flew towards his blind spot, while Andrea blasted Artimus with a torrent of constant water. He knew what they were doing and immediately started fending off Andrea as best as he could. His hand breaking the water away, but requiring most of his attention. She kept the torrent constant, and his powers wavered.
Jade and Binx tried the rope around Rylan before the latter aimed to knock him out. "Rylan!" Alexus called when he felt him being pulled away from her. Artimus yelled as he was overwhelmed, getting pounded by a oncoming water, sending him flying back, drowning all the while.
Alexus's dazed state waned gradually. "Binx!" She called, clenching her sword tighter. "You once wanted my scars, so I didn't have to carry the burden, but I swear we will both carry it when we are done!" Once Binx had made the blow, she looked at Alexus. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... I didn't want it to come to this but i have no choice!" she cried. Alexus stood up. "He's my friend."
"And so was I.
Alexus brandished her sword and got into a stance. Clearly, she was waiting for Binx to come down and fight her, sword on sword. However, Binx sent Andrea and Jade after Alexus. "I'm going after Artimus." She snapped her gaze towards him, not with hate or anger, but with great sorrow. Artimus caught her stare. Binx didn't find sadness in his eyes... she didn't find anything at all. He kept his expression blank and unreadable. Alexus started to fend off Andrea and Jade as he took a step towards her.
Binx flew down to him, her ring now a staff. He brandished his own staff. No words were exchanged as they rushed at each other. She aimed to block any attack he made. He fought vigorously, having known all her moves, but she knew his just as well. "I don't want to fight you!" She screamed. "I don't want to either!" He knocked her staff to the side, and knowing that he had only a second before it would reappear in her hand, he slammed the end of his into her stomach.
She gasped, doubling over, but gripped the staff to pull it away from him. "I'm sorry..."
"So am I," he whispered, pulling it out of her grip. He made to slam it down onto her head, but Jade swept in, landing a kick to his skull instead. He immediately engaged Jade in her challenge, finishing their fight from earlier. Binx looked over at her two friends to see who needed help. Alexus was holding her own well, slashing at any water that came at her. She was soaked to the bone, but she was slowly gaining an upper hand on Andrea.
Binx decided it was best to just hit her with another sound wave from behind.
Alexus collapsed to the ground, giving Andrea the advantage. Binx then turned back to Artimus. He was holding his own against Jade. A bead of sweat had broken out across his forehead from how hard he had been fighting. She tried to sound blast him too. He held his arm out and shielded himself with a magic barrier. He suddenly raised his pole and struck it on the ground, sending the three girls flying back as an invisible force hit them like a tidal wave.
"REALLY ARTIMUS?" she yelled. She really didn't need that (or this fight in general) today. "YOU LEFT ME WITH NO CHOICE!" he yelled back. She could see tears welling up in his eyes. "I LEFT YOU WITH THE CHOICE TO BACK OFF AND NOT START THIS UNJUST FIGHT! BUT YOU INSISTED ON FIGHTING FOR THE WRONG SIDE!" her own tears matched his. He looked down and his shoulders started shaking. He looked up and she was shocked to see that he was laughing! "You got my brother and Alexus," he muttered before holding his arms out. "Strike me down!"
"NO!" She yelled before walking up to him. He watched her. "Why am I any different from them?" he whispered. "They are only knocked out. Someone needs to be here to take care of them tell they wake up." But her voice displayed a deeper emotion, that she failed to share with her words. "Binx... You didn't knock them out," he looked down. "With the rope, and you coming at Rylan's head... and the water, you know Alexus can't swim..."
A look of pure horror over come her face. "N-No...we were extra careful... Pulling some hits... and the water wasn't... wasn't..." He grabbed her hand. "Tell me again, why am I any different? Why do you leave me here to wallow in my misery? Set me free!" She gripped it back, tears in her eyes. "B-but I can't! I never wanted it for them, so why would I want it for you? Please... I know that we fought but I don't know what I would do if I knew you were dead..."
At this point, Jade and Andrea placed a hand on her shoulders sadly turning to walk away leaving her and him to decide the outcome of this.
"Y-your father can bring them back, yes? Artimus please!" she spoke so desperately that he could only look away. "You know he won't," he spat bitterly. He suddenly turned to her, his eyes misty. "Please, if you ever did love me, let me go. Don't let me go through this pain. You know that if you let me live, it's only going to be worse."
"I know he will! Please! Let us try!" She griped his hand a little harder. This was killing her inside. He shook his head, close to sobbing. "You know he won't," he cried. "LET ME GO! PLEASE!"
"WHY WON'T HE? HE DID BEFORE! THERE HAS TO BE A WAY TO BRING THEM BACK! MAYBE YOU CAN! PLEASE!" She collapsed, looking up at him, a tear running down her face. He dropped to his knees next to her. He gently wiped the tear away and held onto the hand with the knife. "I can't. He can't. You know this, just accept it." He let go of her hand and conjured his own dagger. "I'm so sorry," he whispered before embedding the knife into his own stomach and pulling it out.
"NO! Artmius!" She moved to hold him. "P-Please let me heal you! Please, there has to be a way! Please!" He actually started crying. "No," he whispered before looking up at her. "You were always too good for me." She tried covering the wound. "N-No, I wasn't... Please... I need you here!" She cried out. "I-If i can find a w-way to bring you guys b-back, then I will, I promise!"
He smiled softly despite the tears. Then, he wasn't looking at her. His eyes were open, but empty, the stars above them reflecting in his dark eyes more than ever.
She wailed out. Hugging his limp form, rocking back and forth, she sobbed.
After a long while she gently laid him down and stood. Waving her hand the shadows took them to a nice clearing, in the soft flowers they used to lay in. "I will come back, and when I do, so will you. I'm so sorry, please...please forgive me..." She said turning to walk away.
They had won... So why did it feel like they hadn't?
